Delicious food, beautiful restaurant and excellent, friendly service. Four people thoroughly enjoyed it.

In our tri-border region (Kaiserstuhl, Black Forest, Alsace, and Switzerland), we have numerous fantastic restaurants and inns. Many have been awarded stars, toques, and cutlery by Gault & Millau, Bib Gourmand, and the Michelin Guide, but beyond that, there are also outstanding chefs in restaurants that truly deserve these accolades. It's worth discovering them! On November 5, 2025, we were lucky enough to stumble upon one such restaurant—it's a shame we didn't know about it sooner: the "Schlosscafé - Café und Restaurant in Heimbach" The menu (presented in the unique format of a tablet, something I'd never seen before) astonished me. It offered dishes in combinations I had never seen, let alone tasted. For example: Black Forest Schäufele (pork shoulder), lightly glazed with apples, rosemary, and honey. Served with potato gratin, grilled pointed cabbage, rosemary jus, and a delicate mustard mayo. Traditionally: Schäufele with potato salad!! Before that, a fresh, crisp field salad with croutons. Fantastic! The ambiance and service were all excellent. Speaking of service, a brilliant new feature that I only noticed at home: a light-up cube on the table that, by pressing the corresponding keypad, allowed you to call the waitstaff or ask for the bill. A great idea, and I'd never seen anything like it before. A big thank you to the restaurant team. We'll definitely be back.

The chef and his wife still cook here themselves. A very special restaurant. With sufficient advance notice, it's especially suitable for allergy sufferers. Individual dishes are prepared here. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, and there's plenty of space between the individual tables. For us, a very special restaurant with excellent and, if desired, completely individual cuisine. Last but not least, the friendly and very dedicated service staff deserves a special mention. They round off the evening perfectly.

A dreamy feast for the palate and a complete explosion of flavors every time. The chef finds time to come to the table and, like the wonderful service team, always has a joke ready. It's fun to experience the family atmosphere there.

We visited this wonderful restaurant for the first time today. Everything was absolutely delicious: from the fish platter and the roast beef with onions to the vegan cabbage rolls. The selection of vegan dishes is second to none. Fantastic! We've already made reservations for our next visit. Thanks to the entire team – also for the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Online reservations begin, simple and easy. A warm welcome upon entry. Pleasant ambiance, good color selection, tables not too close together. A beautiful garden outside. Table for two, the napkins on the table are tucked into glasses, less attractive and reminiscent of the 80s, and don't fit in with the otherwise modern decor. Especially since they're wrinkled by the time they're used. Cloth napkins would have been appreciated. The service is extremely friendly, competent, and attentive; it was a lot of fun. The menu, presented on a tablet, was wonderful. The food was full of surprises, pleasing to the eye, great quality, and bold with spices and flavors that were different. All three courses were very delicious, and there was a nice, changing selection. Fish fresh daily, truffles, chanterelles, and the price was top-notch for this service. I would prefer a bottle of water instead of table water; that's just nitpicking. We'd be happy to come back; it was a great evening.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Schlosscafe, and it was an all-around wonderful experience. I ordered salmon with vegetables and truffle mashed potatoes. The food was extremely delicious, finely balanced, and beautifully presented. For dessert, I was surprised by a wonderful yogurt ice cream with a delicious, foamed tiramisu. The cozy outdoor ambiance was particularly pleasant, where I could relax in the garden (with enough distance from the neighboring table). Parking is available directly at the restaurant, which makes the visit even more pleasant. The waitress was very friendly and attentive; the service was excellent overall. The ambiance is beautifully designed, simple and inviting, and invites you to linger. I highly recommend the Schlosscafe and look forward to my next visit. 😊

Where should I even begin? OMG Yes! The food is sooo delicious. Really, everything. The starter plate was beautifully presented with lots of different things to try (see picture). The main course was simply a 12/10. I've tried a lot of things, but this was something completely different in terms of taste. The portions are perfect. The restaurant has a normal price, maybe €2-3 more than others, but absolutely justified for what you get. The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet. I can imagine it being incredibly beautiful on the garden terrace in the summer. So, yes, definitely an insider tip. Parking is plentiful, and the restrooms are nicely decorated. Another memorable one is the friendly waiter, with a unique sense of humor but super friendly. 🫶🏽

The service is extremely friendly. The food was wonderful. The ambiance is modern and very beautiful, and you immediately feel at home. However, it doesn't live up to its name (castle café). I was expecting stucco and "kitsch." There was none of that.

I arrived, a very friendly man accompanied me to my table and gave me the iPad where the menu was on it. Drink and food selected; Drink came very quickly, and so did the food. The food looked great and tasted great too. The table was also very clean. That's why I give five stars for the food, service and ambience. I recommend this restaurant to everyone :)

A pity. Dear owner. My wife made the reservation but I paid. Our experience was somewhat negative because we felt pushed and ignored. It (interior, uniforms, digital menu cards, etc) all looked fancy but somehow misplaced. Food was okay but not in line with the prize. So sorry to say. It was not really worth the drive.

We always like to come and really enjoy our time in the castle cafe in Heimbach. On nice days we like to sit outside in the garden. You are simply great!

We “only” had the lunch menu, which was very good (salad, mushroom soup and turkey schnitzel). Service friendly and quick. It's nice to sit outside and it's elegantly furnished inside. Reservations make sense. Addition: today we had dinner. Again very good, food delicious, large portions, service top!

As a chef, I always have something to complain about when I go out to eat, but that wasn't the case. The food was great and so was the service. The portions are large and the price is also reasonable! I can definitely recommend the schnitzel and as a starter I had the starter plate, which was also very good. Since the "Schlosscafe" restaurant is a training company, I was hoping for a very pleasant evening. The autumnal ravioli tasted good according to my guest The turkey schnitzel was thin, crispy and very tasty. The vegetables were overcooked, the rosemary potatoes were watery, tasteless... We (two) had not reserved a table, arrived at 5pm and were greeted very rudely, very harsh tone: If you are finished in an hour and a half, you can have this table (right next to the entrance, opposite the counter). At 6 p.m. three people came, even without a reservation, and were shown to the tables in a very friendly manner, as is to be expected in such a restaurant, and they were allowed to choose a table (out of three). I expected more from the service in a training company like this.😔 I tested the restaurant for possible reservations for a family celebration...

A real feel-good place. Beautiful from the outside and inside. Both the food and the people. Regional diversity, innovative and conservative dishes can be found on the very appealing menu. Everything is always guaranteed to be fresh, everything is lovingly coordinated. I've been not just a guest for years, but a fan: whether with business partners, family or relatives - I always feel like I'm in the right place here. Whether on the spacious terrace (with a playground next door) or in the chic guest room. Whether for a delicious piece of home-baked cake or a new delicacy from international cuisine. Handwork and the love for the job and the product can be felt down to the smallest detail. A family business with heart. Glad you exist!

We became aware of the castle café through the culinary supplement in the Badische Zeitung and went there for the first time last night. The menu is very varied, vegetarians and vegans will also find what they are looking for here. The cooking here uses good, fresh ingredients, the cuisine is honest and unfussy and the portions are more than enough even for good eaters. The wine list is also impressive and, something I don't know, the open wines are also offered in a 0.5 liter carafe. What we particularly liked was the very friendly and attentive service. We were here for the first time, but not for the last. My only, really only criticism is that I found it a bit too bright in the restaurant. I don't like dim lighting either, but that was a bit too uncomfortable for me. But that's really complaining at a very high level.

Unfortunately, on Sunday afternoon at 4.30 p.m. there was no more cake to be had.

This cuisine can only be recommended. We had reserved for 8 people and everyone was thrilled without exception. I haven't had such a good fish plate for a long time (except in my kitchen), and the starter and side dishes are also tip top. There are no photos because for me that is a no-go in a well-kept restaurant.

I would like to thank you again for the extremely delicious dishes that my wife and I were able to enjoy with you today. There's nothing to say about the service, it's probably one of the most attentive, competent and friendly service crews you could wish for. In short, we'll see each other again.

An unforgettable evening! The castle cafe made our 12th wedding anniversary a very special experience. We were overwhelmed by the quality and creativity of the food in the castle cafe. We were thrilled by the combination of regional products and sophisticated flavors. The staff was extremely accommodating, super nice and pampered us. Thank you for everything! Actually we just wanted coffee and cake, which we always enjoyed. We spontaneously decided to have a real meal. The food was very tasty. As a meat eater, I really enjoyed the vegan dishes. We'll be coming here to eat more often from now on. The service and ambience were great too.

When we visit Heimbach from Saarland, we always plan a visit to the Schloss Cafe. The menu is varied and there is something for every taste.

The worst restaurant there is in Heimbach, a lot of people have to wait, the service simply has no respect for other people who aren't from Germany, it's really disgusting and the mouse 🐁 what's going around...... Catastrophic

A great garden terrace. Food was very tasty and served quickly. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. The dishes are cooked in a modern way and the taste is special and unusual. Even the simple mixed salad was refined with kohlrabi leaves. The pulled pork, the lamb and even the spaghetti ice cream were well prepared. Thank you for the beautiful moments.

Absolute favorite restaurant! Simply great, cozy atmosphere. Even if the restaurant is fully booked, the service is unaffected. Time is taken and not rushed. Always friendly and extremely competent. I especially have to praise the constantly changing menu. Completely different from everything we know. Modernly interpreted, partly unusual but still not aloof. Always new creations, including drinks! Super delicious whether an aperitif or lemonade :-) The vegan offering is also particularly noteworthy. I think it's great that it has found its way onto the menu and that as a vegan you can even choose from several dishes including dessert. Basically, great attention is always paid to the quality and, above all, regionality of all ingredients. I constantly recommend this restaurant in my area and as already described above, it is now simply my favorite restaurant! I hope you stay with us for many more years, because you are a real asset :-)

I was at the parade in Heimbach yesterday and the 20 euros for the wine were absolutely reasonable. It was also extremely delicious, compared to another stall. If you buy cheap, you buy twice! Until next year. We look forward to another delicious wine selection. Nice service and courteous employees, nice communication is always possible even when the stress level is high.

Really now? 20 euros for a bottle of wine (EK 5 euros) 1 bottle of sparkling water (EK 50 cents) when asked that is quite expensive, you can go somewhere else. Great prizes, Ajo, great for the fools

If we go out for a delicious meal, then we go to the Schlosscafe in Heimbach. Everything is perfect here from A to Z. In short, you can't describe it, you have to experience it. Reception, service, dishes, everything is at its best. We have to recommend it, no questions asked. Greetings the sexys.

Unfortunately, we forgot to point out that we had an allergy, but this was spontaneously recorded and implemented on site - very accommodating and friendly. Ein echt gemütliches Restaurant, mit moderner Ausstattung. Die Speisekarte wird auf Tablets ausgehändigt und zum Rufen der Bedienung oder zum bezahlen gibt es eine Leuchtewürfel der nur auf dem entsprechenden Befehl berührt werden muss. Auf Empfehlung der Bedienung haben wir noch einen Feldsalat als Vorspeise vorweg genommen, welcher wirklich perfekt geschmeckt hatte. Das Dressing war der Wahnsinn und auch die Speckstücke sowie die Croûtons waren super knusprig, genau richtig. Ich habe mich für die Rinderroulade nach "Oma Inges Art" entschieden. Es war die richtige Entscheidung. Die Roulade hat sehr fein geschmeckt dazu Rotkohl mit Knödel. Es war alles wirklich super lecker. Die Bedienung war Charmant und super freundlich zu gleich, dass Essen hat so gleich viel mehr Laune gemacht und auch generell war Stimmung echt schön in dem Restaurant. Ich kann dieses Ambiente definitiv weiterempfehlen und auch Preis Leistung ist wirklich Fair. Gerne komme ich hier auch wieder einmal vorbei.

Einwandfrei und Außergewöhnlich. Super Service, sehr leckeres Essen... Leider gehen wir oft zu selten nach Heimbach, da wir die fussläufige Gastronomie auch sehr schätzen....

Aufgrund eines sehr netten Telefonats bzgl. Öffnungszeiten, entschlossen wir uns spontan, das Schlosscafe zu besuchen. Und bereuten es nicht ! Toller Service, sehr gut gegessen und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis spitze. Wenn auch nicht in direkter Nähe, werden wir das Schlosscafe öfters besuchen.

Ein wunderbares Restaurant. Meine Tochter hatte mich zu meinem Geburtstag hierhin eingeladen. Wir waren allesamt mehr als zufrieden. Die Steinpilzravioli (Aktionskarte) waren ein Genuss. Meine Enkelkinder genossen Schnitzel, Pommes und v.a. auch die Soße dazu, die unbedingt sein musste! Mein Schwiegersohn war ebenfalls äußerst zufrieden.

Modern eingerichtet, mir fehlte jedoch ein ganz klein wenig die Gemütlichkeit zum Weiterverweilen. Ausgesprochen freundliche Bedienung, cool ist der Würfel auf dem Tisch zum Rufen des Services. Die Karte (Tablet) ist badisch ausgerichtet und wechselt regelmäßig. Sehr leckere Gerichte modern und zeitgemäß angerichtet. Jederzeit gerne wieder.
