We went there for dinner yesterday with a group of girls. The food was really delicious, and both the staff and the owner were very friendly and welcoming. A great atmosphere.

We had lunch with the team at the restaurant. They had a great lunch special: bruschetta as a starter, followed by either pizza or pasta for only €13. The food was delicious, and the espresso is also highly recommended.

Everything was great. I've been there several times. The staff is very friendly, and the price-performance ratio is also good. I always enjoy going there.

The lasagna and tortellini tasted good. 👍 I halved the quantities of each. 👎 Went to eat with family on Sunday, November 30th, 2025. Everyone had diarrhea afterwards.

I visited the restaurant today, November 30, 2025. It was a Sunday with shops open, so naturally, San Marco was quite busy around 2:00 PM. The service was friendly but unfortunately not very efficient. I ordered beef carpaccio, and when it was served, I noticed that the rim of the plate was covered in fingerprints. The carpaccio was also served without bread, salt, pepper, or croutons. Because everything took so long and I didn't have much time, I decided to get the Burrata pizza to go. Unfortunately, the pizza had been in the oven a bit too long, so it was dark brown and almost burnt on the sides, making it inedible. It's a shame, because the restaurant actually had potential. Another negative point I noticed was that there were guests with dogs at every other table – an absolute no-go for me in a restaurant.

I was there on November 16, 2025. A real wow factor! Great atmosphere, very friendly and attentive service, and the staff were extremely courteous. The food was excellent. I highly recommend it! Top-notch!

What was once a pleasant "Italian" restaurant has become a train station concourse, at least to the ears (without hearing aids). The pizza is good, but the rest is uninspired and lacking in variety.

The food is very good. The waiters simply ignore you when you try to pay. The little guy is particularly bad. He's very arrogant.

Unfortunately, disappointing! We've been eating at San Marco for years. Until now, everything was always top-notch! That changed suddenly! The pizzas have gotten significantly smaller (not even reaching the edge of the plate), but the price is the same. Frutti di Mare isn't really Frutti di Mare, and the pasta with salmon isn't what it used to be either (back then, the salmon was often served raw, and you had to argue with the waiter about it). The salad we ordered with yogurt sauce without oil/vinegar was soaked in vinegar, so my wife, who was home sick, couldn't eat it because of her vinegar allergy (this was the second time, too)!!! And if you complain, you have to argue. We will definitely not be visiting the restaurant again...

We were so disappointed. The food was not tasty at all, and expensive to boot. The acoustics were terrible, uncomfortable. We got diarrhea when we got home. Never again at San Marco.

Misleading and disappointing – not real Frutti di Mare! I ordered a Frutti di Mare pizza at San Marco in Ratingen (just under €19). Expecting: shrimp, mussels, octopus. What I got: two shrimp, some unidentifiable pieces, and mostly surimi (imitation fish) – with no indication on the menu. When I asked, all they said was, "We always do it like this." The substitute pizza suddenly contained salmon – a completely different topping. According to the Food Labeling Regulation, food may not be described in a way that misleads guests about the ingredients. If it says "Frutti di Mare" on it, it should contain real seafood. Furthermore, the prices on the website don't match those in the restaurant, which is also misleading. For me: inappropriate, non-transparent, and I won't be ordering again!

We had a delivery order today: carpaccio, vitello tonnato, various pizzas, a pasta dish, and dessert. The delivery was extremely punctual, and everything tasted delicious. We were thrilled! Thumbs up!

Disappointing - Salad price is extortionate I've eaten at San Marco over 20 times. On my last visit, I paid almost €18 for a turkey breast salad with a maximum of five small pieces of turkey. I found €55 for a pizza, a salad, a glass of wine, and a water simply too expensive. Since then, we've been going to other pizzerias in Ratingen.

Half of the order is incorrect and they refuse to issue a receipt. The tax office should take a second look here.

We celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday at San Marco in Ratingen with a total of 13 people. Since it was a special occasion, we were looking forward to a lovely evening with good food and friendly service – unfortunately, we were disappointed in almost every respect. Service: The service was inattentive and unprofessional from the start. Drinks had to be reordered several times because the waiter didn't ask for them at the table. Plates weren't cleared promptly, so we often sat at the table with empty glasses and dirty dishes between courses. For a group paying almost 500 euros, you really should expect more. Food: My mother-in-law's favorite dish, spaghetti carbonara, was a disaster: Instead of a creamy carbonara, as you'd expect from good Italian restaurants, they served a version with cooked ham and cream, which tasted bland and unpleasant – more supermarket quality than restaurant fare. Other pasta dishes also seemed unloved; the pasta was overcooked and lacked any freshness. My wife's Margherita pizza was disappointing: a rubbery crust, and instead of mozzarella, they used regular grated cheese – far from what you'd expect from a simple, yet classic pizza in terms of taste and quality. The prawns were cooked far too long, dry, and tough. The garlic served with them was simply burnt and left a bitter taste. Value for money: The final bill was almost €500. Given the consistently poor quality of service and food, this amount was in no way justified. For that amount, we would certainly have had a much better experience at other restaurants. Conclusion: For a special occasion, the evening at San Marco was unfortunately a bitter disappointment. Neither the service nor the cuisine were convincing, and the quality of the food was more reminiscent of supermarket produce than that of an Italian restaurant. It's a shame, but we definitely cannot recommend this restaurant.

We were there for lunch with nine people. The restaurant was moderately busy, and about a third of the tables were occupied. After waiting for more than 20 minutes, our drink orders were finally taken. By that time, everyone was quite thirsty. When the food arrived, two people received their food, while the others had to wait another five minutes for their other dishes. The food was ultimately good, but the general service, such as empty plates and/or glasses on the tables, was rather mediocre to poor. We would come back for the food, but the service could be improved. The verdigris on the faucets in the men's restroom could also be addressed. It looks very unkempt.

Today at 8 p.m., I was at San Marco Restaurant, a place I've been visiting regularly for years—with both small and large groups. The food took far too long to arrive, and when I ordered additional dishes, the waiter reacted with obvious disdain. It was particularly noticeable that neighboring tables were served much more cordially and efficiently by the same waiter. The service reached its lowest point when I asked for the bill: Instead of bringing it, the waiter preferred to chat with the bartender, forcing me to get up and collect it myself. This disregard and disrespect for the guest is unacceptable, especially in a restaurant that used to be known for its hospitality. For all these reasons, I've decided not to tip—something I've never done before, as I've always appreciated good service. Today, however, I leave the restaurant disappointed and annoyed. Restaurant San Marco should seriously reconsider the quality of its staff, because such negative experiences destroy years of customer loyalty.

I ordered two pizzas via Lieferando around 6:30 p.m. The delivery time indicated by Lieferando was 46 minutes. After over an hour, I called to inquire about my delivery. I was told they were very busy and the courier was on their way. About 75 minutes after ordering, the pizzas were finally delivered. The unbearably long delivery time was evident from the boxes. They felt soft and moist; probably because they had been in the Styrofoam box for a while. This obviously also affected the pizzas themselves. They were almost cold, very soft and squishy. The crust was tough and almost impossible to chew. The Pizza Tonno had very little tuna and hardly any onions. The Pizza Romana also had hardly any onions. Overall, as mentioned above, we were very disappointed and dissatisfied. That was a waste of money! Even on a busy day with lots of orders, better quality would have been possible!

The restaurant itself gets a bit noisy when it's full, so reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. The waiters are generally friendly, but "Chef Hoti" picks exactly the kind of guests who are greeted and treated with kindness. Therefore, a definite point deduction.

Everything was fine except for the service!! It was a disaster. We arrived at 6:45 PM and didn't get our starters for an hour!! At 8:30 PM, we still didn't get our main course?! I'm sorry, but the service was very, very, very slow...

We reserved a table for a birthday, but the reservation was forgotten. The server was very rude and didn't show up for half an hour, and after that only when asked. The food was served at different times. The pizza was soggy and tasteless. The salmon in the pasta had to be searched for. All the pasta dishes were unseasoned. After decades of visiting, this was our last!

All in all, a lovely evening. I paid the bill and later checked it again. A tiramisu and an espresso were listed as extras on the bill, which we didn't order. We didn't care afterward, but if you value it, check your bill before paying!

Top-notch Italian restaurant in the heart of Ratingen. We entered from the street into what initially seemed a rather small restaurant, were led through a corridor, and entered a beautifully decorated room with a view outside. It used to be a good restaurant... Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated considerably, as the waiters weren't really interested in serving us. We were there recently with eight people, and we all ate and drank. After paying the bill (with a decent tip), the waiter came back later with a separate bill (€2) because we had three leftover pizza slices wrapped up. In my opinion, that's completely wrong and anything but customer-friendly!

Hi, it's not to my taste anymore. 2 pizzas were delivered, undercooked, like a shoe sole, disgusting. I wanted to order pasta, but the lady on the phone said we only offer orders over 25 euros... for what????? Ordered mincemeat for terrible food, tasted like tap water, don't want to cry anymore, first and last time ordering was a mistake, service was zero... someone from San Marco should get in touch. No thanks, go to Lintorf, Milano, they are friendly and know how to serve customers.

We ordered pizza, salad, and pizza bread for three people. The delivery, for a total of €70, was quick, and the food was still warm and very tasty 😋 The delivery employee was very friendly and helpful 👍🏼 We found the prices relatively high, but still acceptable given the relatively good quality. The portions could be a bit larger.

The pizzas are delicious and eating there is nice, BUT THE DELIVERY SERVICE... is a complete disaster! I've ordered from there three times for a corporate event, and both times it was a complete disaster. Once, they ordered family-sized pizzas, but only delivered regular pizzas. The second time, the order arrived 45 minutes late. The third time, I wanted to pre-order the day before the event, but for some reason, that wasn't possible. I was told to call at 11:10 AM on the day of the event to place the order, but when I called at the agreed time, I was told they weren't accepting any more orders for that day. All three orders were unacceptable for a corporate event. So, San Marco is out next time. Luckily, there are other delivery services where the food tastes great and, above all, is RELIABLE.

Four of us went there for dinner today. The pizzas weren't hot. The server was very inattentive. We only got drinks upon request. We had to find someone to pay. The wine prices have remained the same, but the quantity has been reduced from 0.2 to 0.15. I think that's outrageous. We won't be going here again for the time being.

3.50 for 6 pieces of pizzabrötchen that was literally just six mini pieces of bread, no mozzarella, no sauce, nothing about the pizza in the pizzabrötchen. Just call it brotstuck. If want some pice of bread I can buy it in Aldi and cut it myself. Oh yeah it says mit butter! Let me know when you do a pizza mit butter. 😂

If you want to spend a relaxing evening, you should definitely go somewhere else. Never again!

Vor zirka 1 1/2 Jahren hatte ich überall noch von der Pizzeria San Marco geschwärmt, es war meines Geschmacks her einmal die fast beste Pizza zum bezahlbaren, fast günstigen Preis. Doch dieses Jahr war ich geschockt, dass zb ein harmloses kleines Bierchen mittlerweile 3,90 kostet, bei so einem Preiswucher bleibt es dann prinzipiell bei einem Getränk anstatt es sich gut gehen zu lassen. Die Pizza ist preislich ebenfalls arg aufgeschlagen worden statt der zirka 8 - 11 Euro für eine Pizza sind es mittlerweile ohne Not locker 15 Euro mit einem Belag. Der Geschmack hat auch nachgelassen, als ob das Rezept und Konsistenz geändert wurde, auch sparsamer belegt ist das Ganze Dann kamen die Essen zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten, dh ich musste ca 15 Minuten aufs Essen warten, die Begleitung hatte bereits die (falsche) Vorspeise und das Hauptgericht bekommen. Das muss nicht sein. Keine Empfehlung mehr, sooo schade. Das Ambiente draussen ist nämlich angenehm ruhig und geschützt in einer Seitengasse gelegen

We came here for the first time as a family with a 3-year-old child to eat. Despite plenty of free seats, we had to wait until we were shown to a table near the waiters. Without a menu, we were again left waiting at the table, while guests who arrived later were greeted with, "Sit where you like! Everything's free!" You also went out of your way to bring the menu, take the table orders, and serve the drinks for these guests. When I asked if we could order, we were told, "Go up front and order there." But the counter outside is for takeout customers, right? From that moment on, we were completely ignored. Several staff members walked past, only glanced at our table briefly, and treated us as if we were invisible. I felt extremely uncomfortable and had the distinct feeling that we were being treated significantly differently than the other guests. There was no point in paying for such treatment, so we left the restaurant. Even at this moment, no one paid any attention to us – as if this behavior were completely normal. I had been looking forward to a visit for a long time, and despite the poor Google reviews, I wanted to give the restaurant a chance. Unfortunately, those reviews turned out to be completely accurate. If you judge your guests based on appearance or group composition, please write in large, clear letters on the door. This way, you could save us and yourself from such unpleasant situations. It was an extremely disrespectful, disappointing, and frustrating experience.

Ordered 2 hours ago, no delivery received. When asked by phone: driver will arrive in 5 minutes. That was 30 minutes ago. Now no one answers the phone anymore. It was paid prepaid. Can only warn before ordering here.

Otherwise great, big disappointment today! Delivered on time, the box of a pizza was completely soggy so it dripped onto the kitchen floor. The pizza base was squishy and soft like a cardboard box placed in water. Disgusting! On the second pizza, the tomatoes were probably only put on when the pizza came out of the oven, so not warm and not soft but "raw". It's a shame - otherwise always good products!

The pizza was OK but not particularly good. For over €16 for a pizza with spinach and mushrooms, the price-performance ratio doesn't work for me. The ambience is okay, but there was a loudspeaker directly above our table that was playing loud, unpleasant music. This is not ideal if you want to have a conversation. The service was fine.

Tried often, unfortunately never really satisfied. The food is OK, although too expensive. Service is often stressful, with almost someone coming to the table to ask for drinks or dessert. I was visiting my girlfriend yesterday. She had a reservation for 7 p.m. There was a lot going on; we had to wait 10 minutes until we were escorted to the table. I found the table small, but okay. Then a second table was pushed in, which we thought was great. But then they wanted to offer us a small table next to it, which was even smaller; We didn't think that was great and said no. On its own, this restaurant is good. Pizza and pasta can be recommended for their taste. The portions are big enough to fill you up and the price is okay. Friendly service, not too much waiting time and a visually appealing room round off the whole thing. To be honest, I personally prefer other pizzerias/pizzerias, hence "only" 4 stars. It's all a matter of taste.

Es war nicht so wie man es gewohnt oder kennen würde. Daher empfand ich die Pizza als leider nicht empfehlenswert. Der Salat preislich im oberen Segment die Portion aber weit im unteren. Preis Leistungsverhätnis stimmt nicht. Auch die Dauer bei einem fast leeren Restaurant von über 30 min bis die Pizza kam stimmt mich sehr unzufrieden. Verständlicherweise würde ich zeigen bei einem Laden der aus allen Nähten platzt aber so nicht. Ich werde nicht so schnell wiederkommen, schade da wirklich schön eingerichtet. Service der Damen semi professionell.

Was there for dinner with my girlfriend. At the beginning everything seemed fine. After eating we ordered something to drink and before we had finished drinking we were asked to vacate the table. Because now is the time when many people want to eat. Apparently the waiter was uncomfortable too. But the boss only seems to care about mass production and not about the customer.

A star should actually mean not a star. Poor organization - unfriendly and overwhelmed staff. A table for two was reserved for 7 p.m. Our name was in the book that was open on the counter. We identified ourselves and were left standing there without saying a word. There was no table for us, but there were several free tables for 4 to 6 people with and without reservations! I went for pizza today with my godchild and her daughter, my pizza and my daughter's pizza were ice cold. Unfriendly staff, I don't go there anymore.

We actually enjoy going to San Marco a lot. But yesterday we booked a table on the occasion of my birthday and unfortunately the attendance wasn't good. Table was not reserved. We had to wait about 30 minutes before we could order the drinks. When the meal was served for 6 people, the 7th person was told that their meal request was not available. Then ordering again (a salad) took so long that the others at the table had already finished their food. Drinks and glasses were given to one person to pass on to the other guests. It's a shame, the service just wasn't good

Wir gehen eigentlich viel und gerne zu San Marco. Aber gestern hatten wir anlässlich meines Geburtstag einen Tisch bestellt und leider war der Besuch nicht gut. Tisch war nicht reserviert. Wir mussten ca 30 Minuten warten bis wir die Getränke bestellen konnten. Als das Essen für 6 Personen serviert wurde, bekam die 7. Person mitgeteilt, dass ihr Essenswunsch nicht verfügbar war. Dann die erneute Bestellung (ein Salat) dauerte solange, dass die anderen am Tisch schon mit ihrem Essen fertig waren. Getränke und Gläser wurden einer Person zum weiterreichen für die anderen Gäste gegeben. Schade, der Service war einfach nicht gut

The dish didn't taste very authentic and had a LOT OF CREAM, even though the menu didn't say that the dish contained milk!! Not recommended for allergy sufferers. Unfortunately, I have to report an unpleasant event. We as a family, my husband, my son and I, had dinner at the San Marco restaurant. We had already called by phone to make a reservation and were told that we should "just" come by - no sooner said than done. When we entered the ambience we were ignored, briefly for information we came into the restaurant with a stroller. The waiters all looked at us and rolled their eyes at our son and felt like they were intentionally keeping us waiting. I didn't mind it and didn't want to just take any seat without an assignment. At some point after a long time, even though the restaurant was empty, an employee finally came and rolled her eyes and took us to a completely unsuitable place in the middle of the restaurant with tightly packed tables. This is totally inconvenient with a stroller and a small child; the stroller didn't even fit next to the table. Well, I still understood that. It was quite a while again and no waiter bothered to ask us about our order. In the meantime, women at the table behind us were being served wine, there was a nice chat, bills were being paid by other guests. Since my son doesn't sit quietly in the stroller for 3 days, which is totally human, I decided to ask the waiter call. He came and looked down at us, totally annoyed, and took the order. At that time the eyes were rolled again because my son was babbling to himself. Then finally the food came. Since the time span was extremely long, my partner and I had to take turns entertaining our son because he was apparently too loud. The waiters looked really angry as they walked past, like “leave the restaurant”. I was carrying my son around and he was still babbling, I emphasize this because he wasn't crying or screaming. It was a little louder, but I can't stop a small child from speaking up. My food got cold, but I felt totally uncomfortable in the restaurant because the staff not only looked angry, but I even had to shake my head. After my partner finished eating, I ate my portion in a hurry, since I pay the same as other customers and didn't see the point of leaving the restaurant just because my child seemed unwanted. When we paid we were looked at just as badly, but we also had to wait a long time before we were allowed to pay. It's worth mentioning again that the place was empty and there wasn't a lot of customers there. Since my child's diaper was full, I looked for a changing option. I had to smile, a cushion for a garden chair was put on a wooden table or dining table with a note saying “changing corner”. This was by far the worst restaurant visit ever and I have never felt so unwanted with my child. I recommend that owners hang a “children not welcome” sign on the door if they are so unwanted. We pay the same money and want to enjoy our food. Ah yes, we still gave a tip out of decency because it was appropriate, but no one even said thank you. The waiter scurried away and didn't even say goodbye. Never again in San Marco!

Today an order was placed via the website and unfortunately the comments were not read and an incorrect delivery was delivered, leaving one person unable to eat. After calling to ask if a new delivery could be made, I was only rudely told that it was a mistake and that a new delivery would take over an hour. So now one person has to watch while eating. There were six of us there on November 4th, 2024. Unfortunately, it was an unfortunate visit. The soup we ordered didn't come at all and then it was just water with egg. Zero flavor, zero parmesan. The color was reddish, which looked more like boiled vegetables than clear broth. Please don't do that!!! A pizza was missing an ingredient and the service was very poor. No apology or anything like that. I remember the restaurant used to be good. But like this...?

We ordered a pizza and two pasta dishes for delivery. The food came 40 minutes later, was cold and, as you can see from the pictures, an impertinence. The noodle dishes were impossible to tell apart, were swimming in greasy, indefinable sauce and could not be eaten. We complained over the phone and were just brushed off with a trivial excuse. 32€ thrown out the window.

There is only one star here, otherwise the review cannot be published. Ordered via Lieferando with desired time, delivered more than 45 minutes late. The quality is subpar, both from the pizza (extra mozzarella just carelessly thrown into the middle) and the two portions of the lasagna (despite the different order number, you can't tell them apart visually). Neither visually appetizing nor tasty. Unfortunately no, unfortunately not at all.
