Sachsenmühle Biergarten in Gößweinstein

We had a lovely hike and wanted to stop for a snack in the afternoon. I had previously checked the Franconian Switzerland website that the restaurants would be open daily until the end of September. Unfortunately, we had to complete the 17 km route to the finish without any food, as everything was already closed today, September 17, 2025. This was all the more frustrating, as there was no mention of the early closure on Facebook either.

A wonderful place to unwind! A super friendly team (the boss and manager at the front 👍) and delicious homemade cakes.

We come here every year and are always impressed. The beer garden is located right on the Wiesent River, and they serve delicious cakes and various snacks. Plus, a cold beer from a chilled mug. Wonderful. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

During a rainy hike, we fortified ourselves here on a Tuesday with a delicious, freshly prepared, generous sausage salad and a half-liter of beer. The hostess was friendly and the price was excellent.

Superbly located on a boat dock, with reasonable prices, for example, a draft beer for 3.50. What more could you want? Great! Parking is limited, though, so plan ahead if you're coming by car.

It's simply wonderful that the Sachsenmühle still exists. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed, and on weekends, they "only" serve delicious cakes, coffee, and cold drinks. The beer is from the Ott Brewery on tap. And all at fair prices. I'm at a loss as to why people are giving this place 1* reviews. Well, maybe it will be emptier if these complainers stop coming.

We discovered this small but lovely beer garden with a sunbathing lawn and swimming area in the Wiesent River by chance. It's located directly on the small Wiesent River. The beer garden offers plenty of space, some with plenty of shade. They serve decent snacks, but only Monday through Friday. Cake is available on weekends. Otherwise, they offer all kinds of drinks at a fair price. We only had a drink. The food on offer, however, looked delicious. There's also a sunbathing area for guests. All in all, a very idyllic and cozy inn. Ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature. Perfect for hikers or cyclists who want to unwind and relax after a hike or tour. Update July 2025: Hardly anything has changed. Still recommended.

One of the most beautifully situated beer gardens on the Wiesent. We hope it stays just as original for a long time to come. August 2022: Thank goodness nothing has changed; it's still an oasis of peace on the Wiesent. July 2025: After a long break, we returned. We were delighted by the warm welcome. The food and drinks, and the entire ambiance, have remained unchanged; simply a place to relax. Sadly, my darling 'Bruno' has since passed away. May you rest in peace. † 🙏

Probably one of those beer gardens where the little things still matter. Where everything isn't fancy. It's simple, friendly, and performance-oriented! We love it! The prices and the owners are simply great!! Here again on July 5th...super ice-cold beer! Cake with freshly made whipped cream! 6 stars!

A very nice beer garden with Franconian delicacies, cakes, and delicious beer. The landlady is very friendly, the dishes are lovingly prepared, and you can pick them up yourself. Prices are very reasonable these days. We made our first stop there on our canoeing trip.

A wonderful beer garden located on the hiking and biking trail, with a view of the Wiesent River and the kayakers. Very friendly and smiling service. I had the Limburger with music; the plate was lovingly presented and served with excellent bread. We'll definitely be coming back.

Probably the most beautiful beer garden in Germany!! Directly on the Wiesent with shady and sunny spots. Snacks such as the best brick cheese with music or onion cheese with fresh farmer's bread every day and freshly tapped beer from the Ott brewery are simply unbeatable. We've been coming here for years. Best recommendation to take a break while hiking or cycling or just to have a snack!!

Beautiful beer garden, idyllically located on the Wiesent with enough seats in the shade and in the sun. The cake was delicious... even if we would have preferred a snack or bratwursts for a stopover with the kayak on Saturday.

Nice little beer garden right next to the Oktoberfest. The tables are beautifully shaded by the trees. The cheesecake tasted excellent, the price at just over €3 is okay. There is a toilet room and a large meadow right next to the river. You can take a break there during a bike tour.

The cool beer garden on the Wiesent in Franconian Switzerland. The obligatory stopover when canoeing. It's run by lovely Leiten - but currently only makes (excellent) cakes on weekends, but no bread with Ziebelas cheese.

Super idyllic place in a great location. You can sit right by the water. The beer is super tasty and the prices are very affordable. Unfortunately there is no snack on the weekend - only cake. If you're hungry but don't like cake, you're out of luck. A pity!

Atmosphere nice, but that's about it. Unfriendly and not really family friendly. No food is offered and, despite having drinks, you will be insulted if you eat food you have brought with you on the picnic area for the children.

Great ambience and refreshing beer on our tour. Located directly on the bike path and the river, a stop by both boat and bike is highly recommended! 😊

Open according to the internet, but you are sent away on the grounds that we will close after the holidays. That was a disappointment. This was the case with many hiking groups. And that in the best weather. You're probably full.

The location is great! You can watch canoe traffic on the river, while sitting in the shade under the trees and enjoying delicious local beer. The team behind the self service counter are really friendly locals. The prices are moderate. Parking is available for guests, but at peak times the place can fill up.

Great location without any luxury. The food and cake are great, the ambience by the river is great. SB but that doesn't matter to the two friendly "Haugeister".

Einer der schönsten Biergärten mit den sympathischsten Wirtsleuten in der Fränkischen Schweiz. Wer mit dem Kajak auf der Wiesent unterwegs ist, sollte hier an der eigenen Bootsanlegestelle unbedingt einen Zwischenstopp einlegen.

Gut für eine kleine Entspannung.

Hier kann man gut einen Stop einlegen bei einem Fahrradtour oder beim Wandern...

Mit Kanutour auf der Wiesent unschlagbar. Zur Hälfte Ausstieg an der Sachsenmühle mit fränk. Bier aus Unterleinleiterbach vom Ott und Brotzeitplatten oder lauwarmen Käsekuchen. Wir sind auf 'ner Wanderung noch ein 2tes mal dran vorbei:-) Immer wieder gerne!

Liebvolles Essen zur Brotzeit, leckere Kuchen, tolles frisches Bier und freundliche Besitzer. Eine Fahrt (oder Pause beim Kajakfahren) auf jeden Fall lohnt sich.

Ein sehr altes Gebäude. Außen Bänke und Tische, gemütlich und ein Muss für Wanderer und Fahrradfahrer

Bier und Kuchen waren sehr lecker. Wir hatten die Hoffnung als wir bei unserer Mittags-Paddel-Pause hier was Herzhaftes zu bekommen aber das gab es leider nicht vor Ort. Bedient wurden wir sehr Freundlich. Preise waren vollkommen Okay. Vielen Dank.

Die Sachsenmühle ist ein muß in Gößweinstein,wunderschön an der Wisendt gelegen tolle Brotzeit und ein Bier ,Hell oder Dunkel zum reinlegen,, kann ich nur empfehlen super

Die legendärste Brotzeit in der Fränkischen, seit Jahren auf Top-Niveau. Man sollte sich vor der Anfahrt erkundigen hinsichtlich der Öffnungszeiten.

So muss ein Biergarten sein. Sehr leckeres Bier und das mit Bayrischem Anstich.....wir kommen wieder.

Toller Ort für eine Pause und ein frisches Bier. Hab das erste mal hier gehalten als Kajakfahrer und seit dem immer als Radfahrer. Sehr empfehlenswert.
