The party in the adjoining room (Räumle) was superbly prepared and set up. We were able to order à la carte. The food was served to everyone at the same time. Stavros prepared roulades upon request (we asked beforehand)! They were absolutely delicious. The other dishes were also very well received. For dessert, he even organized tiramisu. It was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was a wonderful party and everyone was completely satisfied.

On December 19, 2025, after my husband's funeral, we met for coffee with 25 people. I had made a reservation beforehand. When it came time to pay, I was shocked: a bill for €372.80 for coffee and a few extras (tea, mineral water, and hot chocolate for the children). The bill was incomprehensible: one hot drink for €120, one hot drink for €200, and the extras totaling €52.80, which were itemized separately. Upon inquiring, I was told that the €120 hot drinks were coffee, and the €200 hot drinks were a flat fee for setting the table and staff. I was told I had been informed of this when I made the reservation. True. But they only mentioned that there would be a flat fee for setting the table. They didn't specify how much it was. I think this is a deliberate tactic: people in mourning are in a state of shock and don't ask questions. This way, they can be easily "surprised." The tables were set sparsely, without a single flower or candle, just with dishes. And the staff (supposedly two employees – an unfriendly server and someone working behind the scenes) should have been paid anyway, since the restaurant was open. Besides, the restaurant was completely empty during the hour we were there, so the staff would have just been sitting around. The owner wasn't even able to listen to us; we couldn't finish a sentence without being rudely interrupted, let alone explain the bill. Personally, I will never set foot in this rip-off establishment again and will complain about such practices to the appropriate authorities.

The chef knows his craft, and the prices are reasonable, unlike other restaurants where a schnitzel costs about the same as a rump steak. I can recommend the Saalbau.

I was there for the first time on the second day of Christmas, and it was very busy. I had the pickled kidneys, which were very good, and the other food was good too. We had to wait a bit long, but with so many people, that's no wonder. We'll be back.

Our Christmas dinner on December 26, 2025, was a complete disappointment. In a personal meeting with the owner weeks beforehand, including a "test meal," we were assured that we would have seating for 14 people in the restaurant. We had explicitly ruled out eating in the large hall with this number of people. This was out of the question for us, primarily due to the older members of our party and the anticipated noise level. In a subsequent phone call approximately three weeks before the event, we reconfirmed the number of guests and received further confirmation that we would be seated in the restaurant. Upon our punctual arrival on December 26, no reservation had been made in the restaurant, and we were ushered into the hall. There, we had to wait for two hours. The goose legs that were finally served were bone dry and consequently tough. Das offensichtlich völlig überforderte Servicepersonal war unterbesetzt und ungeschult.. Für das dort erlittene Fiasko mussten wir uns bei unseren Gästen entschuldigen, zumal wir nach den Erfahrungen beim Probeessen das Lokal als sehr positiv empfohlen hatten.

Extremely unfriendly service! Exorbitant prices! Absolutely not recommended. The pricing for the venue and drinks after a funeral was opaque. Inquiries were completely ignored. No explanation was given for the high prices. They simply pressed the cash register.

The food was delicious 😋, the portions were great, but the cleanliness left something to be desired. There was a snot-covered tissue on the windowsill right next to me, and it kept coming back into view. I noticed it as soon as I walked in, and the staff should have seen it too. When I moved around the corner bench, I had to use my hands for support and slide across two seats. When I finally got to my seat, my hands were covered in crumbs from using them for support. So please clean the bench cushions before seating new guests. Otherwise, everything was great! We'd love to come back and hope it's cleaner. Until then, best regards to the team!

A very cozy and quiet place, ideal for enjoying a leisurely meal. The food is very good: I ordered "Kartoffelsuppe" and it was exquisite, and "Maultaschen geröstete mit Ei" was also delicious. The waiter was very friendly and attentive at all times. Although you can pay by card, I recommend bringing cash. Overall, a very pleasant experience, highly recommended.

The spaetzle was cold, the meat was dry, the salmon was tasteless and dry, the pancakes were filled with mushrooms...the pancakes were hard and served with just a mushroom cream sauce that was overly seasoned and almost too salty!! The service was very friendly. But we definitely won't be back!

According to the press release, it was the first time we'd been there, just the two of us. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were directed to the beer garden, with the explanation that they were having a larger event. We ate one piece of breaded pork schnitzel, OK, and one piece of hake. The supposedly fresh hake wasn't fresh, and I'm used to fresh hake completely differently. The sauce (mayo) was oily. Only the manager takes the money. No receipt, just a pad. After he left, we realized he'd overcharged us by €20. We complained and got the money back from the waitress, not the manager. He was never seen again. That's what happens when you don't use the cash register as you should.

I really like the new version of the hall building with its old charm. The food is really delicious! Very good quality, very good taste, very good portions and an absolutely fair price. We'll definitely be back!

The service was completely overwhelmed that evening, but still very friendly and nice! The roast beef with onions made us three go to the bathroom that evening; it was more than a little stale in our stomachs.

The veal schnitzel was inedible. The fries were flavorless. I wanted a sauce to add some flavor to the meal, but they gave me sauce for the sauerbraten. That's a no-go. The evening was ruined, and the plate went back.

With the new tenant (Stavro vom Schützenhaus) since December, there is again a restaurant with Swabian, home-style cuisine in Neuhausen. Where you can also have a Gaisburger March or veal sausages with potato salad. Beautifully renovated with new furniture, everything is very bright and attractive.

Well, I've known the hall building for 25 years and at Fasnet the place was so full that there was no way to get in. The service was great and you didn't have to wait long for your drinks. The tappers were incredibly fast and friendly. Now you have to buy a consumption voucher for 15 euros and get your own drinks at the counter. No waitresses on the way. In the handball hall they can't even pour three drinks at the same time. I wanted a wine spritzer, Aperol Spritz and a Bacardi Cola then she seriously said one thing after the other. I'm not used to that. They wanted 10 euros for a bottle of sweet sparkling water 😳😳😳😳 cheek 😡 By the way, the prices do not match those on the homepage. A 0.2 wine spritzer for 4.50 euros is an outrage 😡😡😡😡 I come from the Remstal and wine festivals are legendary here and even there I pay 5 euros for a 1/4 wine. A culinary experience in a class of its own! We recently had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful restaurant and we were delighted in every way. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the warm, inviting atmosphere, which is characterized by warm hospitality and loving design. However, the absolute highlight of our visit was without a doubt the food. The schnitzel, golden brown and perfectly crispy, had a tenderness that suggested the highest quality and masterful preparation. Every bite was a real treat, crispy on the outside and wonderfully juicy on the inside. Homemade spaetzle was served with the consistency of just the right balance between bite and tenderness - a real taste experience that was rounded off by a fine note of butter. The potato salad, fresh and refined with a wonderfully spicy marinade, impressed with its perfect harmony of acidity and mildness and fit perfectly into the overall picture in terms of taste. The attentive and courteous service rounded off the evening perfectly. Service is still very important here – with noticeable passion and an honest smile. All in all, our visit was a real treat that we can fully recommend. Anyone looking for traditional cuisine prepared with love and craftsmanship will find culinary happiness here. Had ordered dessert, Unfortunately an order was lost. But the reorder went quickly. We'll definitely be back!

We had dinner there at Christmas. Of a total of 21 meals, only 14 were brought, the rest were forgotten, the missing meals only came after repeated requests. The service was a complete disaster. The food came out of the kitchen lukewarm. The portions are a joke. The taste is also very poor. We will definitely NOT eat there again.

Reopening of the hall building After 12 months of renovation, the hall building finally opened its doors again today, December 25th, 2024 - under new management and with a new chef. The food is classic, home-style and German and met all expectations. The new service team still needs some time to fully get used to it, but I am confident that this will happen soon. Overall, a successful concept that I would be happy to visit again!

At 8:50 p.m. I placed an order for pickup even though the kitchen closes at 9 p.m. Nevertheless, the order was accepted. Thank you for this, that is not a given. There was cheese spaetzle with salad for my wife and onion roast with fried potatoes, plus a delicious salad for me. The cheese spaetzle was delicious and not too mushy. The onion roast was by far one of the best I've ever eaten. The medium doneness was perfect and the sauce was incredibly good. The onions with the fried potatoes rounded the whole thing off perfectly. Even though we had everything to go, it was still super tasty. I will definitely repeat this. A small, delicious snack for the evening! 🍽️ I can highly recommend the restaurant for people who love Swabian cuisine.

I was looking forward to a steak. You received a 2-page menu. The dishes on the website cannot be found there. Steaks are nowhere to be found. Vegetarian selection consists of one meal. To eat: The vegetarian dish swims in oil. The vegetables are cooked to pieces. The fillet plate consists of 3 small pieces, canned mushrooms and an instant sauce. Stirring in a spoonful of creme fraiche doesn't help either. The meat was not fried but boiled. The charm of the 60s was found. Benches on which the upholstery has come loose, tea lights are supposed to set the mood... Just a pub and not a restaurant. If you then read the price and the information on the website with the discussion of 19% VAT, I have to conclude that it would be better to present a contemporary kitchen and then you would be happy to pay more. So the price/performance ratio was too bad for me. Update after the restaurateur's response: It's amazing how superficially criticism is handled. The author's name is clearly written and unfortunately you cannot retrieve it again. German language is difficult. Reflect or reflect... To deny my inability to decide to distinguish good ingredients from industrial products is very presumptuous. I used to love being here. But prices have almost doubled. A cordon bleu 28.90. It still works. Also very bad service. Out of 3 meals, 2 came wrong so everyone ate alone. And hunger didn't drive it. Never ever.

The food was excellent, even though it was Christmas and most restaurants are overloaded at this time and the quality usually suffers. Not in this restaurant, the meat is tender and all the dishes are very well balanced. It's not cheap in terms of price, but it's worth it. Rarely eaten so well. Unfortunately the tenant will change soon and then we'll see if it's still as good.

Kartoffeln mit Dip zu klein mit dem bisschen Salat für 12 €

Eine nette Bedienung hat uns empfangen und einen Platz gegeben. Das Essen war sehr schnell fertig, der Salat vorraus sehr gut. Nur die Tomate war eiskalt. Der Rostbraten mit Bratkartoffeln war auf den Punkt gegart und die Kartoffeln super lecker.

Waren zu einer Hochzeit hier. Sehr schöner Saal. Das Essen war super und der Service ebenfalls. Kann den Saalbau empfehlen. Waren ca. 80-100 Leute und hatten ausreichend Platz.

Das Essen ist einfach perfekt bei Rudi! Fleisch einfach ein Gedicht Bestelltes kann auch abgeholt werden.

Der Saalbau ist eine der ältesten Gaststätte in Neuhausen, die aktuell noch betrieben werden. Der Gastraum ist klassisch schlicht und sauber. Der Biergarten super gelegen mit dem Blick auf den Filderdom. Das Essen würde ich als gute Deutsche/schwäbische Küche bezeichnen. Ob Rostbraten, Kässespätzle, Wurstsalat und hausgemachtem Kartoffelsalat, alles sehr lecker. Die Bewirtung, direkte und freundlich und absolut auf Zack. Reservierung vorab, schadet nicht.

Liebes Saalbau-Team, vielen Dank für Ihren tollen Service bei unserem Radler-Aufenthalt in Ihrem extra für uns aufgebauten Biergarten am Samstag 22. April 2023. Auch bei Qualität und Geschmack der Speisen gab es nix zu meckern! Erste Sahne! Und die Bedienung war schwer auf Zack und immer für ein Spässchen gut! Solche schwäbischen Originale findet man in der Gastronomie leider nur noch selten. Besten Dank an das Team vom Saalbau und speziell die Dame vom Service! Gerne kommen wir im Sommer mit den Radler-Radlern aus Kirchheim/Teck mal wieder nach Neuhausen a.d.F.

Wir hatten nicht reserviert, kamen aber von weit her und wollten als Familie mal wieder richtig gut deutsch essen. Uns wurde trotz personeller Unterbesetzung, nach minimaler Wartezeit ein schöner Tisch angeboten. Die Bedienung war teilweise alleine, hat auch nur 2 Arme und 2 Beine und würde vermutlich im Zirkus auftreten und nicht bedienen, wenn Sie sich verbierfachen könnte… trotzdem haben wir nach ca. 20 Minuten absolut akzeptabler Wartezeit, super leckere Schnitzel bekommen und den weltbesten Kartoffelsalat! Die Inhaber, Fam. Kaiser, sind sehr bemüht, es den Gästen recht zu machen und wir hatten wirklich tolles Essen (das der Chef selbst kocht) und eine sehr schöne Zeit. Um 16.00 Uhr saßen wir immernoch dort und haben bei nettem Gespräch mit Frau Kaiser, Kaffee getrunken. Die Preise sind absolut ok, das Essen Top (haben uns noch Kartoffelsalat mitgenommen) und das Lokal ist wirklich empfehlenswert. Wir kommen wieder! Lieben Dank für Speis & Trank! ❤️🙏🏼
