One of the rarest and tastiest food gems in Berlin. Definitely worth the trip to Friedrichshain - as it doesn’t deliver in my area. Will be back to eat more, as I want to try the whole menu.

Having lived for decades in real foodie cities - London & Sydney, and experienced the food scene in New York, I feel that Berlin is still behind. However, there are some worthy gems in Berlin - and Ruben's Arepas is one of them. Their 'Pabellon' (pulled slow cooked beef) is my no.1 food in Berlin. You cannot beat this decadent mix of beef, cheese, plantains, beans and hot sauce. I try to not eat so much meat these days, but if I'm going to eat it, then this is what I choose. Every Saturday after the gym when I need my protein hit!

In Berlin it is very difficult to enjoy gastronomy if you have celiac disease. Here at least the options are all gluten-free (except one) and the arepas are very good. Thank you for making things a little easier for us.

This was my first time here and I’ll be coming back often!!! :) The food was amazing, prices are fair (30€ for two people) and the service was fast and friendly. The place it’s tiny, but we ate quite comfortably too. I can only recommend and I’ll try to go on a Thursday next time to try the cachapas 😅

Came in 20 minutes before closing, the guy called Eugen that was working was really nice even tho it was close to closing time. Said we could eat inside and made food that was tasty and fresh. Really good service and nice vibe from this guy.

Love this place! Homemade lemonade slaps, came in and asked the staff to make me their favorites and I was not disappointed. I appreciate y’all❤️

Such a great Arepas place! We had the cachapas with beef, which were super yummy! The beef was really savoury, and the cheese was perfectly melted inside. The cachapas had really fresh flavours, and with their homemade spicy sauce, it was the ideal combination. Service was great, and the food came really quick. It's little place with just a few seats and the kitchen in the room, which makes the place really cosy. Definitely will come back to try their other dishes!

The arepas here are fantastic! The service is super quick too. It's a cozy little spot that you might easily overlook, but I can’t recommend it enough! They also have some delicious bowls and sides that are definitely worth a try!

I went there, because it was recommended as a totally gluten free restaurant. Therefore I didn't even ask about gluten when ordering, I know this is my fault and absolutely stupid, but I am writing that, to make people aware, obviously they changed the menu. Of course I had the non gf meal and I can't remember to ever have had such a bad reaction. All of their dishes I tried were really great, so try them out, but ask for gluten!

Oh my god, these arepas and tequeños are outstanding! Freshly prepared, still hot and with great ingredients. It gets very busy in the evenings and on weekends, but it still moves quickly. Really recommended!

Unfortunately a little under-seasoned. It lacked pizzazz and the arepa itself was served rather cold. The Yuca Fries were cut way too thick. All in all, way too expensive for what is served. Unfortunately, it doesn't come close to the taste of an original arepa. I'd rather save the money and do it at home.

I have finally found the best arepas in Berlin, right here in the heart of Friedrichshain! This Venezuelan restaurant is a true gem. The arepas are simply perfect - you can immediately tell that everything is made by hand. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and of the highest quality, which brings out the authentic taste even more. It feels like you're eating in Venezuela - it tastes so original and genuine! The selection is large and each arepa is prepared with great attention to detail. The service was great too. The team is super friendly and attentive, which made the whole visit even more pleasant. The shop itself is small, but very cozy and inviting. A perfect mix of family flair and great food. For me it's definitely the best place for arepas in Berlin. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to everyone!

This is really really unsuccessful. The cheese is way too much compared to chicken, it is extremely salty and tasteless. Not recommended at all. Very unpleasant experience.

Excellent service, attention and spectacular food!

Went there after a while wanting to try the Arepas and it did not disappoint! Arepas were just as delicious as arepas back home! Crispy in the outside and with the perfect topping amount on the inside! I want to also recommend all the sauces as they are so unique and original, specially the coconut one just blew our brains! The service was excellent, you can chat with the chefs which are super nice. The only thing I would say is that ordering can take a while if the place is packed. But overall our experience was good and I will recommend this place to all, specially to Venezuelans and Colombians who are missing home♥️

Very good Arepas and fast service. From the Arepas, I prefer Pelua but La Reina is also very good! The place is small and easy to miss but very recommended. They also offer bowls and some sides but I haven't tried them yet.

Food ofc is delicious. Nice to see a place to get arepas in Berlin that is not a food truck. Congrats on that! My highlights: Yuca, tequeños and chicha! Cachapas should also be available on regular days :D

Incredibly delicious food! Clean, fresh and the taste cannot be beaten. The corn flour used is gluten-free, the owner knew immediately when asked and was able to provide information about all dishes. We'll be back!

It's a shame not what is expected from eating a good arepa, and remember my country, the meat in the filling was not good, I almost couldn't swallow it, it took much more time to cook and the sauce, for God's sake, horrible, that's not it. It has nothing to do with my Venezuela, here in Berlin there are better places with a Venezuelan flavor

Very tasty arepas. Portion is good for an adult and the homemade lemonade is great!

I love the food. Delicious and filling. What I don't love is that the opening times are sometimes random and it's not open when it is supposed to be. I get hangry after the gym.

We ordered a portion for two people, the portion was too small and barely for one person, the price is very high for this amount of food, matter of taste is subjective but personally i don’t find it that good.

yummy arepas I have to edit my initial review. It's much less chicken in Reinita than it used to be! Now it's an arepa full of goat cheese instead! Not nice :(

Service was great, but the food was “meh”. I was really craving an arepa, and this did not satisfy that craving.

Small, cozy shop with a few places to sit and loud South American music. I haven't had Venezuelan food that often and there are really great things to try here. The vegan arepa with beans and plantains tasted good and I particularly liked the yacon root fries. Super delicious and I definitely want to come back again. But the prices are tough. Understandable, after all, many of the ingredients are very exotic. But don't be misled by the small-looking portions, because they're still really filling.

The Tequeños are not authentic (too doughy) but the arepas are delicious! I’m Venezuelan, so I’m missing my food here in Berlin. Luckily I found this spot and can get my fix of arepas. I recommend the Reina Pepiada with an extra order of Plátanos. Trust me! Solid meal.

As a gluten-intolerant person, I'm always hesitant to try new restaurants, but this place exceeded my expectations. Almost all of their dishes are naturally gluten-free, and the one dish that does contain gluten is prepared with extreme care to prevent cross-contamination. The arepas were absolutely incredible! The perfect balance of flavors and textures, I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious offerings.

We've never eaten Venezuelan before, but the Rubens Arepas made us an instant fan of South American cuisine. A taste explosion was simply packed into a corn bag. The Yuca Fries with the house salsa is also highly recommended.

Great overall composition in terms of taste. Unfortunately my ragout wasn't hot. It's also more of a pulled beef than a ragout. But it doesn't matter because it tastes good.

Staff were very helpful and the food will rival any other food you can eat in Berlin!

I was there with a group on Sunday afternoon, June 9. The girl (short stature, long dark hair, tattoo on her calf) who took our order did so in such an inattentive and arrogant manner that it really ruined our experience at this place. We were all left with the bad feeling that we should not have gone to eat there. His attitude was so arrogant, aggressive and reckless, which is really a shame. Apart from having a very bad time with the order, we never knew what language to refer to the waiter in as we tried English, German and Spanish and still got the opposite of what we were ordering. The same girl who took the order also brought something to the table, which she did (of course) in the same smug manner as when placing the order. Tipp for the owner: Hey! Treat your customers in a better way, the majority of people who go to buy an arepa do so more for the experience of feeling at home than for any other reason!!

Ok so food looks good and fresh! But must focus the bad customer service! Since arriving wasn’t welcome at all! I understood there is only one guy serving but that is not excuse to make uncomfortable to the customer that just wanted to enjoy a good taste of Latin food, and I left with an irritated stomach because of his rude attention! Sadly couldn’t taste the product now can not extend my review to that part.

I recently had a fantastic experience at Rubens Arepas in Berlin. Carmela and Mariana were both very helpful and provided outstanding service. Their friendliness made my visit even more enjoyable. I am very satisfied with their attentive and professional work. Delicious food 10/10.

In a three day stay in Berlin I’ve been here twice for an Arepa Pabellón. It was the most delicious gluten free, savoury, sweet, spicy and cheesy dish. Value for money is what you get here. It’s a small shop with some places to eat but I chose take away. They are pretty quick. Superb.

Heard about this place through word of mouth. Absolute find. Probably the most fresh and tastiest food I’ve had in Berlin so far! Staff are all lovely as well. Great spot! Glad I went to that afters lol.
