Rubens Arepas in Berlin

I'd never tried Venezuelan food in my life, and I was absolutely delighted with the arepas at this place. Unfortunately, they don't have a location where I live, but every time I visit Berlin, I'll definitely stop by for an excellent Reina Pepiada 🇻🇪

I beleive these guys produce something unique, beautiful und delicious. Berlin definitely needs more places like this 😋🥰

An interesting shop! Unfortunately, it wasn't quite for us. Maybe we just made the wrong choice... We had two arepas: beef and vegan. The beef with Gouda was relatively boring. Especially since the Gouda was simply cold, which I found a bit of a shame. I thought it would be more integrated and somehow warm or melted. The beef was tender but not particularly seasoned, relatively plain. It was good but relatively plain as a result. The vegan version wasn't that convincing either. The main issue here was that the pieces, from avocado to sweet potato, were very large, and there wasn't really any mixing with the rest. So you only ever ate one thing: either avocado, sweet potato, or tomato. Smaller pieces and then a more flavorful experience would have been more our style. The tomatoes were of very good quality. The service was also great. The shop is popular. It's definitely an asset to this area. We don't quite understand the hype, but we don't have to. All the best to you 🙌🏼

I never ate arepas before and I recommend this place for trying them for the first time. I tried basic one with only meat and cheese and I liked it

I went because it was recommended to me, and I had very high expectations. I didn't really like the flavor; it was missing something. I ordered arepa Reina pepiada and fried yuca. The yuca dip was too garlicky, although delicious, the yuca was flavorless and tasted like nothing without the exaggerated garlic dip. As an experience, it was okay, but I wouldn't recommend it, nor will I return because they left me in debt. The prices aren't cheap either. They don't have a bathroom, so if you go there to eat, there's no way to wash your hands or go to the bathroom if you feel like it.

This is a great place to enjoy authentic Arepas in Berlin! The Tequeños are a must-have next to your Arepa. No matter if you take the beef, chicken, vegetarian or vegan version - all of them are different and delicious. Usually I order via Wolt and the deliveries come in well packaged.

I arrived in a hurry around 12 and they served me incredibly quickly and well... I ate an arepa that was delicious and some delicious tequeños... the place is super clean and I recommend it...

I visited twice during my stay in Berlin and would definitely recommend it to anyone. 99% of the menu is naturally gluten-free, a safe haven for coeliacs! The arepas are absolutely stuffed full and surprisingly filling. The yuca fries are amazing as well as the accompanying sauces.

Oh my goodness, these arepas and tequeños are amazing! They're freshly prepared, still hot, and made with excellent ingredients. It gets very busy in the evenings and on weekends, but it's still quick. Highly recommended! I've been here several times now and would always go back.

A small, cozy place with a few seats and loud South American music. I haven't had Venezuelan food that often, and there are some really great things to try here. The vegan arepa with beans and plantains was delicious, and I particularly liked the yacon root fries. Absolutely delicious, and I definitely want to come back. The prices are quite high, though. Understandable, given that many of the ingredients are quite exotic. But don't be fooled by the small-looking portions; they're still really filling.

Upon entering the service was warm and welcoming. I ordered a beef and bean Arepa and was highly disappointed. The beef was very salty as if an entire bottle of salt was dumped into it. It also tasted like it had been refrigerated for a long time and reheated in a microwave. The beans also tasted old. The arepa itself which is made out of corn flour was not cooked properly and the insides were raw and tasted like raw dough. I did not taste other menu items do I can’t speak on those, but I have tasted arepas elsewhere which taste fresh and well cooked.

Wow…..this is delicious. So fresh, vibrant and the papelón is a perfect sweet drink to wash it all down. The people are beautiful and the food is made with love.

I used to really like this place and would go frequently. On Saturday, I went back after a few months and noticed that the arepas and the menu in general had gotten smaller. To make matters worse, the prices had gone up, meaning smaller portions at higher prices. The food was delicious, but with all these changes, it doesn't make me want to go back.

Spectacular vegan food! Unfortunately, I have to lower the rating because although their prices have gone up significantly, the portion size is too small to justify the price now. About nine euros for an arepa that simply isn’t large enough to be a meal. Perhaps the vegan one should be cheaper given the price of cornmeal and black beans which mostly make it up

We've been there several times and have also ordered through Wolt, and it's always so delicious! The ingredients are always fresh and the portions are generous, especially if you're there! In warm weather, you can even sit outside. Unfortunately, there's no restroom, but otherwise, it's great!

This was a perfect post-flight meal located near my hostel. I stopped by because the food is advertised as gluten free online. It was delicious! The mint sauce they put the arepas is to die for. The beef was slightly salty for my taste, but this is just my preference. The staff were so attentive and the place was very clean.

Having lived for decades in real foodie cities - London & Sydney, and experienced the food scene in New York, I feel that Berlin is still behind. However, there are some worthy gems in Berlin - and Ruben's Arepas is one of them. Their 'Pabellon' (pulled slow cooked beef) is my no.1 food in Berlin. You cannot beat this decadent mix of beef, cheese, plantains, beans and hot sauce. I try to not eat so much meat these days, but if I'm going to eat it, then this is what I choose. Every Saturday after the gym when I need my protein hit!

In Berlin it is very difficult to enjoy gastronomy if you have celiac disease. Here at least the options are all gluten-free (except one) and the arepas are very good. Thank you for making things a little easier for us.

This was my first time here and I’ll be coming back often!!! :) The food was amazing, prices are fair (30€ for two people) and the service was fast and friendly. The place it’s tiny, but we ate quite comfortably too. I can only recommend and I’ll try to go on a Thursday next time to try the cachapas 😅

Came in 20 minutes before closing, the guy called Eugen that was working was really nice even tho it was close to closing time. Said we could eat inside and made food that was tasty and fresh. Really good service and nice vibe from this guy.

Such a great Arepas place! We had the cachapas with beef, which were super yummy! The beef was really savoury, and the cheese was perfectly melted inside. The cachapas had really fresh flavours, and with their homemade spicy sauce, it was the ideal combination. Service was great, and the food came really quick. It's little place with just a few seats and the kitchen in the room, which makes the place really cosy. Definitely will come back to try their other dishes!

I went there, because it was recommended as a totally gluten free restaurant. Therefore I didn't even ask about gluten when ordering, I know this is my fault and absolutely stupid, but I am writing that, to make people aware, obviously they changed the menu. Of course I had the non gf meal and I can't remember to ever have had such a bad reaction. All of their dishes I tried were really great, so try them out, but ask for gluten!

Unfortunately a little under-seasoned. It lacked pizzazz and the arepa itself was served rather cold. The Yuca Fries were cut way too thick. All in all, way too expensive for what is served. Unfortunately, it doesn't come close to the taste of an original arepa. I'd rather save the money and do it at home.

I have finally found the best arepas in Berlin, right here in the heart of Friedrichshain! This Venezuelan restaurant is a true gem. The arepas are simply perfect - you can immediately tell that everything is made by hand. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and of the highest quality, which brings out the authentic taste even more. It feels like you're eating in Venezuela - it tastes so original and genuine! The selection is large and each arepa is prepared with great attention to detail. The service was great too. The team is super friendly and attentive, which made the whole visit even more pleasant. The shop itself is small, but very cozy and inviting. A perfect mix of family flair and great food. For me it's definitely the best place for arepas in Berlin. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to everyone!

This is really really unsuccessful. The cheese is way too much compared to chicken, it is extremely salty and tasteless. Not recommended at all. Very unpleasant experience.
