Royal India Cadolzburg in Cadolzburg

The Schlemmerblock (a discount booklet) led us to this restaurant in the heart of Cadolzburg's old town. The dining room is charmingly decorated (with an Indian theme) and features subtle local music. It's a family-run establishment with very attentive service. The food is wonderfully spiced – we opted for the milder dishes. These were excellent and (even without the Schlemmerblock) offered very good value for money. Highly recommended.

Good Indian restaurant, the buffet on Sunday was very tasty and unbeatable in terms of price.

We were there for the buffet on Sunday. The selection was quite limited; while there was a vegetarian option, there was only one chicken and one lamb dish. An appetizer and one dessert were also available. All in all, we won't be coming back. The food was okay, but anyone who knows and loves Indian cuisine will be disappointed. The flavors weren't well-balanced, and the food didn't leave a satisfying aftertaste (plus, some pieces were burnt). The variety of spices that one expects from Indian food was completely absent. The appetizer was also excessively greasy. As for dessert: one small spoonful, and that was it. It tasted artificial and had an unpleasant texture. I've rarely eaten anything so unappetizing. I wouldn't order lassis here either—I'd stick with a classic Coke instead. I'm familiar with the artificial sweetness, but this was still overdone. The lassi was as watery as a regular soft drink. ... I don't know if the food from the menu tastes better, but I doubt it.

I ate at the buffet, but unfortunately, it didn't impress me. The food was barely seasoned, and the selection was quite monotonous. Even at €16.90, it was simply too expensive. The dessert was completely inedible. Overall, disappointing.

Update: Things have gone downhill, delivery was delayed. We'd rather get our food elsewhere in the future. Update 10/26: The food arrived over 45 minutes late. So nothing has changed. That one in the photo is supposed to be chicken tikka masala. Disgusting is probably more accurate.

I'm sorry to have to write this review, but the quality is completely down. Probably the worst Indian food I've had in Germany. :(

We ate here with a voucher. Very friendly, the restaurant was lovingly decorated inside. Not so impressive from the outside. The food was very good. The waitress was very busy, so it took a while. We'll be back. The price/performance ratio is good, and they have a different menu every day.

A fine Indian restaurant with daily specials, ideal to combine with a visit to Cadolzburg Castle.

All the dishes were delicious, with fresh ingredients and special spices. I really liked the desserts, especially the mango cream and Indian ice cream. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Conclusion: We will be back! 'Namaste'

I'm not a big fan of negative reviews, but there have been so many of them here that it deserves mentioning. There was everything from fake to spoiled. Today we decided to spontaneously get some Indian food and were looking forward to enjoying these hearty dishes. My wife had stuffed cheese balls and I had chicken tikka masala. We also had naan, garlic naan, and papadums. When I picked it up, I also added half a liter of mango lassi. When we got home, we were very disappointed, as we don't treat ourselves to this kind of thing often, and basically everything was fake/too little/spoiled. -Chicken tikka masala: white-yellow sauce (as a reviewer also noted two weeks ago). The taste was far from what we ordered. -Stuffed cheese balls: They simply weren't cheese balls, but two rice lumps the size of a thumb. (It probably has a name I don't know.) And yes, two! There were two of these things in the entire sauce as the main ingredients. The sauce was essentially the same as my chicken was swimming in. At least the chicken was well cooked. Meanwhile, my kids devoured the lassi. My little one said, "Yuck, sour." I tried it, and yes, the lassi was spoiled. It sizzled on my tongue and my wife's, who, of course, had to try it to really believe me ;). All in all, very disappointing, and I wanted to let the manufacturers know this time that it was quite unsatisfactory and that they absolutely had to throw away their lassi. So I called to inform them. This is where the language barrier came into play. I tried to explain to the lady on the phone that the food was so-so and that the lassi had to go. She, in turn, wanted my address and name and didn't understand a thing. I asked to speak to someone who might understand me better. A man then answered the phone who also didn't understand anything :) After several attempts to communicate, he just said, "Okay, okay, he has a lot of customers, I should just come back for dinner in the next few days (I'm not thinking about that, sorry)." I tried to communicate with a reduced vocabulary: "Lassi is broken. Lassi has to go." But I don't know how deeply the message reached my counterpart. So, all in all: dissatisfaction. And please check your lassi before you gulp it down.

Status: 7/25 We went to Royal India with our voucher book – but it was also our first time. The drinks were ordered quickly and delivered quickly, too. When we studied the menu, however, it was anything but quick. It was actually quite extensive in terms of the variety of dishes. The naan bread with garlic as an appetizer was really delicious. My dish (chicken with peanut sauce) was labeled "a bit spicy," but in the long run, that's enough for a meal. I like my food with a bit of a kick, but with this dish, the heat was also long. My wife had something with curry in her bowl. That, too, eventually became spicy in the mouth – curry-spicy. But still delicious. Unfortunately, the rice on its own was a bit dry, but if you mix it with the sauce from the dish, everything's fine again. Yes – we'll be coming back more often.

Absolutely loved our experience here! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we ordered was delicious — especially the chicken tandoori, jalfrezi and biryani , everything was a standout! The service was warm and attentive, and the staff made us feel truly welcome. We regularly eat Indian food and were looking forward to a familiar dish this time – chicken masala. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Instead of the usual strong, spicy, red masala sauce, we were served a yellow version, which initially surprised us. Unfortunately, the dish didn't impress us in terms of taste: The sauce tasted unusual and a bit crumbly in the mouth, and the chicken was tough and difficult to chew. The yellow rice also had a peculiar, unpleasant flavor that we weren't expecting. In the end, we unfortunately couldn't eat the dish and had to throw it away. However, we would like to highlight the naan bread – it was fresh and very tasty. We are providing this feedback in the hope that it will contribute to improvements. Thank you very much!

Really very good food. We were already in the restaurant and ordered something. Really good service. Some deductions because of the space - we personally don't find it very comfortable. Therefore deductions in the B grade 😉. But that's complaining at a high level...

We went to the restaurant for dinner in a small group. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, including for vegetarians. You can also choose between different levels of spiciness. The dishes were all very tasty, freshly prepared and not over-seasoned with coriander. The lamb was very tender and the chicken was also well prepared and not too dry. Rice is served with every dish and the portions are sufficient. The restaurant itself is very colorfully decorated, but the music wasn't too loud and the service was very friendly We would love to come back and are happy to have such a good Indian here because we really like Indian food.

Top food! Products fresh. Spices perfectly matched to every dish. The staff is very friendly and comes from India, which is why the food tastes very authentic. One of the best Indians I've been to so far. The dishes are lovingly and beautifully served Dishes were also specially prepared for the children (2 years & 1 year). They were even allowed to try the dessert in advance, then decide whether it was tasty and order it. So really great! We have already tried over 6 different dishes and have not been able to complain about a single one. Delicious!

We ordered for 3 people. Chicken curry was ordered for the child. Unfortunately the food was spicy. There was nothing about spiciness in the description. Overall the food was average. That was the last time we ordered there.

Don't understand the good reviews.... Food was ordered 2 hours in advance for 7 p.m. and was only delivered after 8 p.m.... vegetarian main dishes consisted of 2 Schupfnudel-sized pieces of cheese with sauce, that was it... after a complaint there is no proper excuse.... never again!

Takeaway: Butter chicken: bland taste, where is the Indian sophistication? Garlic Naan: I don't know that thin, it was okay. Mango Lassi: Totally normal. Since it is very uncomfortable inside (cold LED light) and the tables outside are not inviting, more than 2-3 stars are not possible.

Overall it was OK. The service was nice, but unfortunately couldn't speak German, which made communication a little more difficult. Unfortunately, a drink took a long time to arrive. Seit Jahren kommen wir immer wieder mal ins Royal India, wenn wir etwas Besonderes in Cadolzburg wollen. Das Essen ist wirklich lecker und der Service freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir hatten Lamm und Hähnchen (32 / 54) und beides war perfekt.

I can't rate the ambience because it was picked up. Unfortunately it was very disappointing and some of the order was wrong. Requests (sharp) were not addressed. Overall, unfortunately not good. Unfortunately, Chana Chat wasn't one. And unfortunately no good Indian food otherwise. Chicken in Butter Chicken partly still pink/not cooked through. Edit: after the answer I'm even more irritated. Butter chicken was ordered. When ordering, the number was asked several times. I didn't have that in mind...then there was even more wrong than I thought.

Waiting time 1.5 hours. Wrong delivery again. It's so annoying!!! And then you can’t understand anything on the phone! We would just like to have number 41 now! And no - I don't want to send the Paypal number because I paid in cash - I want the real food!

Very nice owners. The food was also quite good. We went to the buffet on Sunday. A bit of work needs to be done here. Not a very big selection. 2 vegetarian meals. However, the dishes on offer always only contained sauces, as the contents (meat, cheese, etc.) had been sorted out. Was filled up too late and then in a plastic bowl (hygiene). Only 1 starter (soup) and 1 dessert (rice pudding) were offered. Also, the food wasn't particularly hot. Nevertheless, the taste was well seasoned and not too spicy. We'd love to come back, but not for the buffet.

So lecker... und ich war oft genug in Indien, um das beurteilen zu können. Klasse, dass man viele Gerichte auch vegan bekommen kann. Letztens war ich mit Gästen aus Tübingen da.. sie waren auch total begeistert!

Sehr leckeres Essen in einfachem Ambiente, ohne großen Schnickschnack. Wir waren mit einer Wandergruppe von 15 Personen dort. Die meisten haben vom Buffet gegessen. Allen hat es sehr gut gefallen und geschmeckt. Chai wurde für uns extra frisch gekocht. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut. Die Sauberkeit erfreut. Sollten wir wieder mal in die Gegend kommen, ist es sicher eine der ersten Adressen zum Essen gehen.

Preiswerte Mittagsgerichte in großer Auswahl. Es hat uns vorzüglich geschmeckt. Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen. Auch die Bedienung war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Deshalb steht für uns schon heute fest: Beim nächsten Besuch der Cadolzburg essen wir wieder königlich indisch, im Royal India.

Das Essen kam relativ zügig. Geschmacklich war es sehr gut und lecker gewürzt. Die Menge der Vorspeise (5 Scheiben frittiertes Gemüse) und die Anzahl der Malai Kofta (2 Stück)waren für den Preis allerdings sehr frech.

The best curry we had in a long time. We've tumbled up on Cadolzburg on our way back to England, looking for a peaceful stop for the night with our camper and found this lovely restaurant. We've loved the Thali for 2 to share, they were all incredibly tasty. Service was also very nice and friendly. Thank you

Das Restaurant an sich ist recht unscheinbar, aber die Qualität der Speisen ist unfassbar gut ! Die Speisekarte bietet eine Auswahl leckerer traditioneller indischer Gerichte und egal was wir bisher gegessen haben, es ist einfach lecker und für den Gaumen mal was ganz anderes. Wirklich empfehlenswert!

Waren jetzt schon öfters im Royal India in Cadolzburg und sind mehr als begeistert! Der Service ist zuvorkommend, das Essen immer ein Highlight, das Preis Leistungsverhältnis überragend! Wir sind gerne immer wieder hier, bitte weiter so.........

In einer wunderschönen Straße ein sehr gutes Lokal mit leckerem Essen und entspannten Personal. Nachdem auch noch auf Grund einer Baustelle der Autolärm nicht vorhanden war, konnten wir während dem Lokalbesuch richtig entspannen. Herzlichen Dank an den Koch und das Personal.
