Roha Café & Restaurant in Bonn

Roha is definitely one of the best restaurants in Bonn. Their food is fresh and full of different flavors. Try the Sambusa as a starter and the varied platter to have an idea of the diversity of Ethiopian food. They also have some good options for Ethiopian beer. And the service is something else! The staff is super kind and friendly, and will make you feel at home. Don't forget to try their coffee, which is a specialty. They only take cash.

felt very welcome and got to treat our mom to her first time at a Ethiopian restaurant. Food was tasty! Maybe because we were eager to try the appetizers, kind of made a mess of the Sambusas as the lentils spilled out. The vegetarian mains platter did not disappoint, although would have like to have perhaps boiled eggs included to be a bit more substantial and the beets/cabbage sliced thinner to make easier to package into nice bites; especially for us who are not so familiar eating without utensils. Will come again with the family for sure!

I had the meat platter and was blown away! The best Ethiopian restaurant I’ve eaten at.

The food itself tasted great. However, there were a few things that were really dissapointing. First of all, the Roha gemischte Platte (meat variant) only had a single portion of beef in the middle. The rest was vegetarian, whereas on the menu it is stated “verschiedene Fleischgerichte”. Second, I ordered Doro Wot, which only had a single (!) small chicken wing and an egg. For this, I paid 19 (!) euro. This made me feel like eating injera with sauce, rather than with meat. Despite this, the owners were very friendly and the service was fine as well.

Very tasty food and kind, accommodating service. We had the plate of specialties for 3 and were barely able to finish. For the hot&spicy lovers, there’s a powdered spice mix available.

For anyone who hasn't eaten here, it's a must! Really tasty, fresh and of high quality. Eating with your fingers takes some getting used to but is without a doubt a pure experience. Anyway, we'll do it again. What's a shame is that they don't have an outside area.

Buzzing with energy, Roha was packed! Luckily, our reservation snagged us a table amidst the happy host of people. The sheer number of diners was a good sign – this place must be incredible! And incredible it was. The food arrived, a feast for the senses. Enticing aromas swirled, the presentation was vibrant, and then came the taste...wow! Every dish we shared was a flavor explosion – perfectly cooked and exploding with deliciousness. Dessert? Pure magic. One of the best I've ever had, hands down. This isn't just a meal, it's an experience. Roha rockets to the top of my Bonn favorites list, maybe even cracking the top two! I can't recommend it enough.

The food is sooo delicious!!! I loved how healthy and fresh it tastes. Food portion is sufficient, no more or less. The food price is a bit high but surely it worth the experience. You will see some fancy way of servings here, don’t miss it.

Very tasty, authentic food! Even something different to eat without cutlery! We would have liked to have taken part in the coffee ceremony, but it was too crowded and loud for that! If you really want to be sure of getting a table, you should reserve!

We had the Platte for two people, and it tasted quite nice. Only complaints are the price and the quantity of food for the price, it felt a bit less. The service was really good, they even have a hand wash service before the food, which I found really cool, especially because they are encouraging us to eat with hands.

The food was very delicious and freshly made. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and the food choices are very unique and exceptional. We will definitely eat again here next time we are in Bonn. I want to try everything on the menu! Also thank you for introducing me to the world of Ethiopian jazz! ☺️

I have there for Ordered 2 takeaway plates, 1 vegetarian and 1 with meat. At home, when unpacking it turned out that both vegetarian plates were identical. By TEL. After consulting with an employee (language barrier), he told me that the difference between the vegetarian and meat platters was only one euro and that it was half as bad. I'm annoyed that the employee wanted to tell me that if I had, I would have just thrown one euro out the window. Proper service is different.

Excellent food and friendly staff. The only problem that we had with the place was that when we tried to pay, they said the debit/credit card machine was not working because o the network and one of us had to leave to the nearest ATM, for which we had to pay comission because of the type of Atm. They could have let us know before we sat down and ate.

I had the vegan platter and it was delicious! Unfortunately it was the only meatless dish on the menu, but it was still very worth it. The ambience and service were also great. I'd love to come back 😇

Wir haben endlich mal im Roha gegessen, und es war top! Das Lokal ist immer voll, deswegen sollte man einen Tisch reservieren. Man sitzt gut, der Service ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir hatten Samosas als Vorspeise, und eine gemischte Platte für 2, um die äthiopische Küche kennenzulernen, und Baklava als Nachtisch. Dazu auch äthiopisches Bier. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, sehr lecker und angenehm pikant. Uns wurde auch kurz und nett erklärt, wie man mit den Händen ist. Lediglich die Portion hätte etwas größer sein können, aber jeder hat ja auch anders Appetit. Rundum war es super, und wir kommen gerne wieder!

Das essen mit den Händen ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber macht Spaß. Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Der Service ist sehr nett, sprachlich gab es ein paar Schwierigkeiten. Die Beleuchtung könnte erwas gedimmter und somit gemütlicher sein. Aber ich komme sicher wieder.

Sehr interessant! Kommen mit karaffe,seife usw anfangs an den Tisch zum händewaschen...Kaffee inkl. Weihrauch,uvm alles traditionell.wer das essen mag ist mal ein Besuch wert. Nicht ganz so günstig aber noch ok. Aber sehr schlecht parken.typisch Bonn...

Sehr sehr leckeres Essen, zudem sehr preiswert und gut sättigend ohne gleich ins „Foodkoma“ zu fallen. Das Personal ist ebenfalls freundlich und es ist eine willkommene Erfahrung, das Essen auswärts mal ohne Messer und Gabel zu essen.

Eine ganz tolle, entspannte Atmosphäre, sehr nettes Personal und hervorragendes Essen. Wir haben die gemischte Platte gewählt, die eine tolle Auswahl hatte. Wir wollen demnächst unbedingt mit Freunden wiederkommen.

Nettes Ambiente. Das Essen wird hier mit den Fingern gegessen - es gibt kein Besteck - etwas ungewohnt. Vom Geschmack her absolut in Ordnung und in einem angemessenen Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Die Servicekraft war bei unserem Besuch freundlich, leider jedoch etwas überfordert. Ein Essen wurde vergessen; auf Nachfrage dann aber schnell an den Tisch gebracht. Weiterhin war sie trotz wenig Gästen sehr unaufmerksam. Alles im Allen aber OK.

Ethiopische keuken is erg lekker en zeker verrassend. Zeker de moeite waard om het te proberen.

Außergewöhnlich gutes und authentisches äthiopisches Essen mit sehr freundlichen Bedienungen. Ich war mit einer in Deutschland lebendenden Äthiopierin dort, die total begeistert war, denn dieses äthiopische Restaurant ist viel besser als das in ihrer Stadt :-) Wir gehen seit Jahren sehr gerne hin und können es absolut empfehlen!

Sie haben eine großartige Sammlung afrikanischer äthiopischer Dekorationen und Utensilien. Darüber hinaus verkaufen sie auch einige besondere Gerichte. Kein Besteck und warmes Wasser zum Händewaschen sind ihre Spezialitäten, aber auch der Service und die Kultur sind erwähnenswert.

Sehr feine Äthiopische Küche! Wenn man die Kaffeezeremonie haben möchte bitte vorbestellen. Gerne wieder!

Sehr schlecht man ist dort alles mit den Händen und nicht mit einem Löffel, Messer und Gabel !!! Das erinnert mich an die Steinzeit denn zur damaligen früheren Zeit hatte die Menschheit auch mit den Händen gegessen denn wir leben mittlerweile heute im Jahr 2022 und nicht bei den Neandertalern die wiederum unsere deutschen Vorfahren aus der Steinzeit waren von daher bin ich sehr überrascht als hätte man die Zeit um ein paar Millionen Jahre zurück gedreht so komm ich mir vor ! Im Bezug auf die Preise für die verschiedenen Essen dort sind unverschämt viel zu teuer !

Ein versteckter Schatz. Das Personal war sympathisch und humorvoll, das Essen eine kulinarische Reise und mein Highlight war der kleiner kultureller Ausflug den die Augen durch tolle Dekorationen erleben durften. Auch als Vegetarier wird man glücklich durch herzhafte und gut abgestimmte Gerichte. Empfehlenswertes Lokal!

Super nettes Personal und leckeres Essen. Wir waren seit langer Zeit mal wieder dort und die vegetarische Platte war wirklich lecker. Das nächste Mal wollen wir unbedingt die Kaffeezeremonie ausprobieren.

Eine wunderbare Erfahrung, dort zu essen und Gast zu sein. Spannende Gerichte, die mir bis dahin unbekannt waren, wurden sehr freundlich von den liebenswürdigen Gastgebern erklärt. Der Geschmack aller bestellten Essen, vegetarisch und auch mit Fleisch, war fantastisch. Es wird liebevoll serviert, alles irgendwie besonders und so dass man sich herzlich willkommen und rundum wohl fühlt. Wir kommen ganz bestimmt noch öfter.

Super leckeres Essen (Ich habe Fisch gegessen). Nach der rituellen Händewasch- Zeremonie wird das Essen traditionell mit den den Händen gegessen. :) das das Restaurant schon früh sehr voll war, spricht für die Qualität! Das Bier auch unbedingt probieren! Ich werde definitiv wiederkommen.

Nettes kleines Restaurant mit freundlicher Bedienung. Wir hatten eine gemischte Platte für 2 Personen und fanden das Essen sehr lecker. Wir waren schon öfters dort und werden auch weiterhin dort zu Gast sein.

Leckeres Essen, nette Gastgebende, Preis Leistung passt. Hier kann man auch mit einer größeren Gruppe gut essen gehen.

埃塞俄比亚菜，正宗的英吉拉，两人份绝对够三个人吃。还有埃塞特色cafe ceremony，不过要15欧所以没试。就喝了一小杯提前煮好的咖啡，好苦哈哈。

Una experiencia diferente que merece la pena probar! Pedimos el plato para dos y dos bebidas y fueron unos 44 euros. El plato era abundante y estaba todo super bueno. Te lavan las manos antes de empezar a comer, aunque no al final. Super recomendable!

We had a great experience at Roha. We ordered the platter with various stews and meat dishes and it was amazing. The food was tasty and well-seasoned. We also had a coffee and the quality was excellent. The waitress was super friendly and the atmosphere felt very welcoming.

This place is one of my favourites in Bonn. We always order the non-veg platter. The food is unbelievably delicious and the serving staff are so sweet! I only wish they were open during lunch hours as well!

We were in a mood to try Ethiopian food for the first time, so we booked again for the next day and went in for an early dinner. The st. George beer was smooth and a good try. There was a hand washing session at the table, cause food is recommended to be eaten by hand. For mains, I got the 1 person plater with ethiopian flavours (which was recommended) but was a bit disappointed to find only 1 non veg and over 5 veg sides. One of these veg sides were just potatoes and carrot boil? Idk, the potatos were still raw. Overall, the service was good, the food was okay i guess, there were different flavours in the dish i ordered. A relaxed atmosphere too.

Lecker, faire Preise und mal was ganz anderes

Tolles gemütliches Restaurant. Das Essen war frisch und sehr gut, netter Service, geräumiges Lokal mit genügend Platz zwischen den Tischen. Vor dem Essen gibt es einen „Händewaschservice“, da mit den Händen gegessen wird :) Preislich auch fair (vegetarische Platte 15 Euro, siehe Bild). Insgesamt ein besonderes Erlebnis und empfehlenswerter Tipp :)
