As a larger group, we were always very satisfied and full. The view of the Rhine is magnificent. The service staff are all very hospitable. The dishes with fried fish are recommended. We'll be back!

Today we were at the Zollhaus am Rhein for the first time, but definitely not the last. Our food was delicious, the service was very friendly and quick, and the price-performance ratio was good. We had a place right on the water... so everything was perfect!

Top location, my food was great, the cashier staff could have been a bit friendlier. Maybe it's a good day, I'll leave it like that! The weather was great and so were the nice people at the table.

Unfortunately I can't agree with the good reviews. The ambience is quite nice, service was quite nice and a bit overwhelmed, but our food (3 different dishes) was absolutely bland, tasteless and didn't taste good at all. We had to get our own pepper and salt, drinks were good.

Classic restaurant on the edge of the river with huge garden and ample parking, nearby ferry to cross the Rhine River. Starting or finishing point for excursions, suitable for families, economical. kind service

The food was very good. Unfortunately, the espresso we ordered was not brought to us after our meal and we were no longer noticed or asked if we wanted to order anything else. We then had an espresso somewhere else.

We like to go there even in hot weather. It's great to sit on the Rhine in the pleasant cool of the river under large trees, with great food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere

I've been to the customs house very often and haven't had any personal problems so far, but the boss is very disrespectful and always shouting and the staff is very unfriendly

We have loved the Zollhaus for many, many years, i.e. looking out over the Rhine under shady trees with cool drinks and the best view. A perfect starting or finishing point for excursions. The food is hearty and the portions are large enough to fill you up. The people in service are as quick as shooting stars!

That's just great. Went to the Zollhäusle again today. Excellent. Absolutely great destination (+ surrounding area). Eaten deliciously. Great location right next to the Neuburgweier ferry. Vegetarian selection, good prices. Small beer garden and also restaurant room with a window front facing the Rhine.

A beautiful location and an incredibly beautiful environment with water. Very convenient for campers, but unfortunately no drinking water, waste disposal or electricity. However, wonderful for one night. You can watch the ships sail by and observe animals.

The young man who makes the schnitzels in the beer garden is obviously very ambitious and friendly. Happy to see something new.

We've been coming to the customs house on motorcycles for years. Nothing special, but always good for a stop with a view of the Rhine. Matjes highly recommended!

The zander fillet was incredibly good and the Ais view of the Rhine is great!

Of course a super.beautiful location. The food has become much better, perhaps there is a new chef. The taste was good and there was nothing to complain about. Thank you, we'll be back.

After a bike ride, like many of us, we stopped at the customs house. It was quite full, but you are happy to share space with other guests, so you should find it yourself. But then you will be served very quickly. Even though the terrace was full, the meal didn't take very long. The fish was delicious, especially the fish platter and there was a small salad with it 😋

The restaurant and beer garden are a good destination for a Sunday trip and if you get a table at the water's edge you can watch ships... the tuna salad was very good, but I would recommend that with fries or something similar. Only 2 slices of crispbread a little for me. Fried fish with potato salad a classic, a sufficient portion, you can't go wrong.

Just had something to drink, the staff is attentive and friendly. My husband enjoyed the coffee and cake. Always happy to go there.

The waitresses seem stressed and therefore quite unfriendly. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food (currywurst with fries), which isn't bad in itself, but when guests who arrived 20 minutes after us got their food before us, it was annoying. We asked what was going on with our food, then it suddenly came straight away, but my friend was forgotten (she only got her food when the rest of us had already finished, and only after we asked again). The food itself was fine.

Went to the customs house with friends for the first time yesterday. I had goulash soup which was very tasty. My husband had the fried fish strips with potato salad. The pike perch with salad also looked very tasty. Finally, a delicious ice cream or an iced coffee convinced us that we would definitely come back.

We were there with a bus with 40 people. Drinks and food came in no time. The house-style fried fish strips were very tasty. From the dining room you have a wide view over the Rhine and the Rhine ferry.

The food portions are very small, value for money 👎🏼. Service staff without structure. On days like May 1st or Father's Day, it's better to support the clubs and eat something good and cheap there.

I waited 25 minutes for my order (meatball and currywurst with baguette) at the kiosk next to it. After I asked if it would take long, the two guys started with my order. Honestly, I lost my appetite and canceled the order. I was yelled at afterward. One of the employees was quite aggressive and threatened me never to come here again. Of course the managing director of the customs house had no time. It's a shame about the good environment…

Have been very satisfied and have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed.

If it weren't for the view of the Rhine and the pretty nice beer garden, we wouldn't go there anymore. Eating is fine, but what we always notice...there are always problems with the service. For example, if you ask for an extra pepper and salt mill, you wait in vain... yes, even if you ask multiple times. We're just coming to have a drink.

The restaurant at the Zollhaus is not recommended, the service was too slow for the gastronomic standard and uncoordinated. The food was dry, the fries smelled and tasted strange, and the salad was watered down and tasted like nothing, and the schnitzel was more breading than meat, and for €21, that's a shame. When you mentioned the above-mentioned points of criticism to the boss, the conversation was immediately stopped and you were treated as if you were not worthy of the conversation (scum), and you weren't even listened to to the end. The head chef and the main cook came to our table and when they were asked about the deficiencies, they vehemently denied that we were wrong and that the feedback from the guests was there because it was well attended. (In my opinion the restaurant is only busy because of the ferry and because there is usually nothing else nearby where you could eat). And the criticism was avoided because it couldn't be tolerated, and our friends who were sitting at the table also said that the two gentlemen from the kitchen acted arrogantly and treated you that way. However, the Custom House has bad food at overpriced prices, poor conditions, and poor management. The visit was a failure and you should find another place to eat.

Absolute failure for a tour break I was eating at the Zollhaus with 4 friends after a long bike ride. We ordered a steak with fries, once fish with potato salad, twice currywurst with fries and once the Maultaschen. Each of us also drank a beer. The five of us ate everything, but only because we were all hungry after a 25 kilometer bike ride, otherwise we would have left half of it behind. We talked again as we continued our journey and my friends commented that it was "more of a snack bar than a restaurant", "processing like on an assembly line" and "uncoordinated". For one of them, the food only came after we asked several times, and only when the rest of us were almost finished. My steak was dry-fried and if I hadn't had anything to drink I would have choked on the piece of meat, it was very, very dry. We've decided we'd rather go somewhere else from now on, even if we have to drive 10 kilometers to do it. Even if the VAT has been increased for the catering industry, you at least expect to get something good for your money, otherwise you could have cooked at home. Absolute failure, never again.

It's nice to sit by the water and watch the ships on the Rhine. A solid menu invites you to eat. You can definitely try it out, there should be something for everyone.

Nice location right on the Rhine to have a drink and chill out. I had ordered matjes and they came 2 pieces of herring with fried potato, piece of cucumber, piece of tomato. So far OK, but the sauce comes from a TETRAPACK and costs 16.90 NO THANKS

A really nice location for a stopover! Unfortunately, the food is only of snack quality and is well overpriced, but you also pay for the view and the sandpit ;) hence 4 stars from me!

Place in the front row in the beer garden on the Rhine, then very nice and attentive service, what more could you want. Food was tasty and price was okay.

Above all, the beer garden with a view of the Rhine is recommended when the weather is nice. You then enjoy the drinks and the good food!

Last night it was out first time we went there for dinner. We had Zanderfilet auf griechischer Art und saubere Schweinenierle which tasted good. Service was good aswell. Though I can imagine this place being a very nice spot during day time when you can enjoy the views of the Rhine, however the indoor ambiente at night time didn't do it for me at all. No cosiness whatsoever. Sorry.

Great location, friendly, quick service and moderate prices. We had a good pork cordon bleu. The Schupfnudeln went wonderfully with this. Whether a Breton fish platter belongs here is at least questionable (consisting of zander, catfish and salmon). When it comes to the food on offer, the question generally arises as to whether less would be more. But the customs house is recommended.

Wir waren heute dort und sind mega begeistert von dieser Location, sehr feines Essen, alles frisch und sehr lecker, ein super Service an einem schön gedeckten Tisch. Wirklich ein super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis… direkt am Rhein, und nach dem Spaziergang sind wir gleich nochmals hin zum Cappuccino, der dort schmeckt wie in Italien, und dazu lecker Kuchen und Eisvariationen

The food was excellent, deliciously prepared and we didn't have to wait long. The Riesling sauce with the tender catfish fillet tasted incredibly good. Was there some great spice in it or just a very tasty spice composition. The lenses also went well with it.

Price performance... not always correct

We have been visiting the customs house for many years. It's always delicious and the view of the Rhine gives us a feeling of vacation. We have been eating purely plant-based (vegan) food for a year now. Actually you can't find it on the map. But the kitchen conjured up a super tasty vegetable pan with potatoes and roasted pine and pumpkin seeds and made us happy. We will happily continue to eat at the Zollhaus.

Very good food........Prices unfortunately slightly increased

As has been the case for several years, this time we are having our New Year's Eve dinner with relatives and friends spent here in the customs house. And as always - we were not disappointed!!! Quite the opposite !!! We are always surprised at how beautifully everything is set up here, how nice, friendly and fast people are here (even though the restaurant is full) is served and how delicious the food tastes!!! Even the dessert (several varieties), which is almost impossible to eat, is hard to beat in terms of appearance and taste!!! I would like to send a big compliment and a big thank you to the whole team (including those who work in the background) and I'm already looking forward to our next New Year's Eve meal!!!

Sehr schön gelegen das Restaurant direkt am Wasser. Tolles Ambiente und super netter Service, dazu Aufmerksam. Waren das erste mal hier, aber bestimmt nicht das letzte mal. Eine klare Empfehlung.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Waren mit 11 Personen zu einer Feier dort. Service war super und das Essen kam gleichzeitig obwohl wir a la carte bestellt hatten

Gutes Fischrestaurant, Preis-Leistung okay. Schöner Biergarten am Rhein. Was ich schon des öfteren reklamiert habe, das Essen ist sehr oft salzlos wie in einer Kuranstalt. Schade.
