Soft Romanian music, friendly staff and a warm, familiar energy. It's a restaurant that reminds you of home, but in a modern way. A bit crowded on the weekends, but worth the wait

(Boneless chicken thighs, grilled to perfection!) The service is very professional, very fast, and friendly with a smile. You feel welcome and appreciated. The portions are generous, the prices reasonable. There's real homemade lemonade, and the salads taste like outdoor food. The guests are mostly of Romanian descent, but we will confidently recommend the restaurant to all our friends and acquaintances because the chef knows his job here! The Papanasi also comes highly recommended!

I rarely give such bad reviews, but today's is unbelievable. There were 13 of us and many were dissatisfied. Personally, I can't say much because apart from my tomato salad, nothing came. It was simply forgotten, and that happened twice. I politely said that my food was still missing. Many people's meals were cold, badly seasoned, too raw, too overcooked... There was rarely any service; many people sat in front of empty glasses. Then something is brought, but people leave the table empty-handed, even though there are empty plates and glasses lying around. It could be cleaner. So there's a lot of room for improvement here. I'll spare you any pictures of the food.

The restaurant is impressively decorated. Santa Claus and the Christmas tree were already there in October. I was there on a day when there were few customers. The service was fast and very friendly. The food selection is typically Eastern European. Some of the meat was a bit dry. The side dishes were very good. The portions are large, but expensive for a sports restaurant and its location. A 0.2 liter bottle of wine, for example, costs €8.80, and a mixed grill costs €27.90.

"A Transylvanian gem in the heart of Munich" I discovered Restaurant Transilvania in Munich absolutely by chance, but the experience was unforgettable! It is more than just a Romanian restaurant – it is a true culinary journey into the heart of Transylvania, with a rare elegance. The atmosphere is warm and refined – natural wood, candles, discreet, muted music and extremely attentive, but not at all invasive staff. I felt like an honored guest. The food? Spectacular. We started with an eggplant zacusca served with warm homemade bread, continuing with a chicken paprikash with fluffy dumplings, and the main course was a pork tenderloin in mushroom sauce, simply perfectly cooked. Finally, we tasted a traditional dessert reinterpreted: delicate papanași with cheese mousse and blueberry foam – a masterpiece! The selection of Romanian wines is excellent – ​​we were advised by a very well-trained sommelier, who recommended a Fetească Neagră that perfectly complemented the menu. It is the ideal place for those who want to discover the authentic flavor of Transylvania in a refined, modern form, yet deeply respectful of tradition. I will definitely come back – and this time I will bring friends!

I'm there every week (forced by Freinsleben). Nowadays, hardly anyone is there anymore because people keep getting sick. The drinks always cost the same, only sometimes you get a 0.5 liter glass and sometimes a 0.3 liter. If you point this out, they always act like you don't speak German, but if you speak slowly when ordering or something similar, you immediately get a condescending "I understand you very well, you don't have to speak slowly/loudly/clearly."

We chose to have lunch at your place this Sunday so we set off after an hour or so we arrived at our destination We were greeted with a cold welcome without a greeting after which we asked where we could sit.. answer inside... I ordered water 0.75 it came with 0.5 unfortunately we only had a belly soup which was very delicious I would have liked a 2 course course and a papanași dessert but unfortunately the service was below any criticism there were only 2 tables in the restaurant with the 3 of us and the lady who served us was not polite at all and only spoke in disgust after 2 more people appeared in the restaurant it seems they were important because the lady suddenly became kind... but too late when leaving I tried to explain but to no avail she didn't even listen to me she was looking for answers so I said there was no point and I left

Since we also ordered drinks in bottles, we were given a bottle cooler with ice. The whole time there was a wonderful mix of music playing in the background, which represented the tastes of all age groups. The owner put a lot of passion into the design of the restaurant. There were 4 of us eating for dinner today, the cats were burnt and dry, the steak was super dry, it looked like you were chewing gum, the polenta was raw and flavourless, the sarmalele were super boiled, the schnitzel was a bit good but it was ordered with piure, instead it arrived with chips, the wine was good, and the pickles (muraturi), for the rest the waiter came to take the order with a cigarette in his mouth 😅. We paid 260 plus €30 tip but we will never go back, not good at all, if you continue like this you can close.

Yesterday we were back at the Transilvania restaurant after a break of almost a year. I come from Transylvania myself, my husband doesn't, but he knows Romanian cuisine well from many visits to Romania. That's why he ordered tripe soup (I didn't) and a grilled sea bream with fries. As it said on the menu, I ordered 3 lamb chops (instead of vegetables, polenta and garlic paste). To drink, he lemonade, I a glass of red wine (0.2 ml) and 0.5 l mineral water. After more than half an hour the soup came, of course I kept waiting. My husband tried the soup, wasn't very impressed, so I tried it too. No taste, it was the worst tripe soup I've tried so far! After another good half hour the fish came. The waiter (Antonio) didn't even notice that there were 2 napkins and 2 spoons (??) on the table, but no forks or knives, he put the plate on the table and it was gone. My husband had to grab the cutlery from another empty table. Still nothing for me! The fish was cold, my husband left more than half of it. He had long since finished eating when my order finally came. Instead of lamb chops there were two small skewers of grilled meat, which (I tried a small corner) was 100% pork, not lamb and was also cold. I asked the waiter what was going on, his answer was they don't have any chops, just these pieces of meat. I returned the plates with the request to keep the side dish and to get two “mici” (cevapcici) instead of skewers. Even though the grill outside was hot and had been going for hours, it took another 45 minutes and my food still wasn't there. So after waiting for over two and a half hours without eating, I got up and wanted to leave. My husband wanted to speak to the boss, he wasn't there, a young woman explained to us that the whole team in the kitchen was new! What does the kitchen team have to do with the man who stood outside in front of his hot grill the whole time and took at most 5 minutes to fry two mici? From the moment we walked in until the end I counted a total of 20 people in the restaurant. Not even a quarter of the seats were occupied, yet, as I heard from other tables, many people canceled coffee or dessert and left because the waiting times were forever! There was also no attempt to "reward" the guests with a free drink or something similar for the long wait or to apologize. Nothing, just shown the cold shoulder and offered meaningless and incomprehensible explanations in a heartless and indifferent manner! We wanted to pay for what we consumed, but things that we hadn't ordered were first added to the bill, then taken out again and in the end we paid 55.80 euros for a soup, a fish, a lemonade, water and 0.2 ml of wine. Today I looked at the menu online and did the math again (generous with lots of extras, like fries, garlic paste, etc.), but I still came to a maximum of 46.60 euros instead of 55.80 euros! So almost 10 euros more mercilessly on the bill! Outrageous! Unprofessional! Conclusion: Never again Transilvania! Never again where they only make money without considering the satisfaction of their guests! The only plus point is the wood grill, because unfortunately restaurants in Munich are not allowed to grill on wood grills! Otherwise, no plus point! It's outrageously expensive for poor quality, cold food, endless waiting times and an enormous lack of interest and indifference! If you want to eat good and lots of Romanian food at very fair prices, visit the “Pschorr Krug” - Oberländerstraße 32, 81371 Munich, where Mr. Istrate has many original, fresh, homemade Romanian specialties, unfortunately as I said not a wood grill, but a lava grill. You won't regret it! Don't let yourself be fooled... at Restaurant Transilvania!!!!
