A very cozy restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. They serve exclusively vegetarian/vegan dishes. All the dishes are extremely delicious and plentiful; we've already tried everything. The drinks menu also offers something for everyone. We always enjoy the fresh teas and chai latte. During the day, the interior is wonderfully bright. In the evening, it's rather darker. The many oriental lamps cast a cozy glow. Large umbrellas outside offer shade from the sun. The restaurant is often very busy, and rightly so. Many thanks to the team and the great service. 🫶🏼💐

We've only had breakfast here so far, so this review refers exclusively to the breakfast selection. We had the lavish Mediterranean breakfast and pancakes. First, about the food: Everything tasted very good, giving it 5/5. The coffee is also very good. What wasn't right, however, and seemed unbalanced, was the concept of the Mediterranean breakfast. You get over seven dips, plus sausage and cheese, but only one slice of bread and a roll. How is that supposed to work? Half of the dips unfortunately remain untouched. And jam, peanut butter, and cream cheese are unfortunately not dips you'd want to eat on their own without bread. We were given bread upon request, so it's not a big deal, but in my opinion, something like that should be actively offered. Alternatively, either A) offer a full bread basket. Or B) offer fewer spreads and reduce the price. Or C) offer more side dishes that can be eaten without bread (like the olives or feta). Additionally, in our case, we ordered breakfast twice, and they weren't identical. One plate was missing a spread (we were able to live with that; it was surely just a careless mistake). What stood out more, however, were the slices of bread. One of the two orders came with a thick sandwich, while the knife on the other seemed to have slipped, and the slice that failed was crooked and wafer-thin at one end. Honestly, I wouldn't have served that. Especially since we were looking at the direct comparison. Overall, although everything was delicious, I would only give this breakfast menu a 3/5. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some previous reviews regarding the service. While everyone was very friendly, you had an unusually long wait for your order, even though there were only a few tables occupied. And then one order was forgotten. It happens, but it's just a shame. The whole thing could have been resolved quickly if they had at least stopped by the table more often. We repeatedly tried to make eye contact and wave, but we were often overlooked. No matter how nice you are, that's not good service in my opinion. Therefore, only a 3/5. There's nothing negative to say about the ambiance, so it's a 5/5. The restaurant is modern and comfortably furnished, with the MüGa right in front of you. The only thing that should be checked is the number of seat cushions. Of the 5 chairs at our table, only 3 had cushions. But it somehow fits the overall impression. While they seem to put a lot of effort into it and do a lot of things right, many small inaccuracies pile up to the detriment of the guests, which ultimately diminish the experience. My overall rating is 4/5.

A very nice location with delicious food and friendly and fast service!!!!! The restaurant is highly recommended!!! I'm deducting one star because I unfortunately used the restroom at the end, and it was anything but inviting 🫣. A certain level of cleanliness and the availability of toilet paper would have been very welcome 🙏.

A very nice restaurant with good and attentive service and delicious vegan/vegetarian food. The portions are huge and generous. We had: • a warm vegan appetizer platter • a vegan appetizer platter • a colorful falafel platter • the celery schnitzel (vegetarian) with rice • a pizza • the Beyond Burger Everything was delicious. We'd happily recommend it and will definitely be back!

Nice place. Some of the food is delicious. Fries aren't as tasty as they used to be. The kids' pizza looks and tastes exactly like a margarita from the supermarket, and for €9, that's put me off a bit—just like the prices in general. A shame. A few years ago, the price/quality ratio was better.

We just tried the vegan goose with red cabbage and rosemary potatoes from the Christmas menu, and Christmas Eve was perfect. 😊 For dessert, we had both versions (quince cream dessert with pomegranate seeds and the golden milk tiramisu, both vegan) and were simply delighted. I was at the Ronja restaurant in the Ringlokschuppen yesterday and it was simply fantastic. The food was fresh and delicious, the portions were just right and I really liked the atmosphere. The team was friendly and attentive and I felt at home from the start. I particularly liked that everything was lovingly prepared and you could take your time to enjoy the evening. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants good food in a relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back.

The purely vegetarian meal was a true experience – creative, varied, and of the highest quality. Each of us tried something different, and every dish was a hit. The combinations were sophisticated, the ingredients fresh and of the highest quality. It's impressive how diverse and surprising vegetarian cuisine can be – here, it's truly celebrated. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We received a very warm welcome from the very beginning and were well looked after throughout the evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal, and we simply felt completely at home. Even with children, you are in good hands here – all wishes were considered considerately. Unfortunately, it's no longer what it used to be. The service was simply abysmal. We actually had to wait 70 minutes for two breakfasts (!) When ordering, we requested extra bread/rolls. It wasn't brought to us, but instead we got a chai latte without cinnamon. They just poured tea with milk. This was definitely the first time this person had ever done this, and I've never had it like that at Ronja before. We asked if the sesame rings were still available. "Unfortunately, they're completely out of stock," the young waiter told us. We were brought two vegetarian breakfasts, even though we ordered one vegan and one vegetarian. It was then swapped, which can happen. Then we asked again for the bread. It arrived and we were charged twice (?! But it was only brought once). Unfortunately, the nut paste on the breakfast plate is no longer available, which I find unfortunate, but okay. Then the manager came around the corner and brought the sesame rings to the next table... We were completely shocked. Since we had brought these things up one after the other (really nicely), the young waiter suddenly became unmotivated and totally annoyed. At least, at the end, we were given a sesame ring without any comment. (Don't you want to ask if and how many we'd like? Should we share one ring with six people now?). I didn't even check to see if we'd been charged... I had given up long ago. Things can always go wrong, but this was a complete disaster. I have no idea if the old team was replaced or what the reason was, but that day was probably our last visit. It's a shame, we always enjoy going there - but after this fiasco, we'd rather stay away...

Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden. Für Familien mit Kindern ist es ideal – es gibt einen Spielplatz in unmittelbarer Nähe. Das Restaurant selbst ist sehr geschmackvoll und offen gestaltet – luftig, modern, nicht überladen. Die Toiletten sind sauber und der Blick in die Küche ist möglich, da die Tür oft offen steht – macht einen sehr gepflegten Eindruck. Die Speisekarte ist komlett vegetarisch/vegan. Es gibt Falafel, vegane Burger, Getränkeauswahl usw. Auch wenn der Geschmack nicht ganz meinem persönlichen Stil entspricht, war alles gut angerichtet. Die Meze habe ich dieses Mal nicht probiert, werde ich aber beim nächsten Besuch nachholen – vielleicht sprechen mich die mehr an. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist angemessen – weder zu teuer noch besonders Günstig – dem heutigen Markt entsprechend. (Photo der Rechnung liegt bei.) Restaurant Ronja is beautifully situated within the large Schlosspark in Mülheim an der Ruhr. There's a theater stage (amphitheater-style) in front of it, and events are held from time to time. Parking is easy; it's ideal for families and guests with children, and there's also a playground nearby. The interior is beautifully decorated and modern. It's spacious and doesn't overwhelm you. The restrooms are clean, the kitchen is open, and you can see inside—it gives a positive impression of hygiene. The menu is entirely vegetarian/vegan. They don't use meat. They offer items like falafel and vegan burgers. They call it a chicken burger, but it's not meat-based, but entirely plant-based. While it wasn't my favorite, it was delicious. I didn't try the appetizers, but I'll definitely try them next time. The presentation is beautiful. Points of criticism: • The outdoor chairs aren't very comfortable. Some had cushions, some didn't. • The service was a bit lacking. The empty glasses and plates on the table weren't removed for a long time. • The ashtrays were full but not replenished. • Three times, we received orders even though we hadn't ordered anything. There's a bit of a lack of coordination here. Overall, it's a very positive place. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff is friendly. Aside from some minor flaws, we'd say it's perfect. I'm giving it 4 stars this time, but if they pay attention to the small details, they'll definitely deserve 5 stars next time. It's much better quality than many other places in the city. Unfortunately, you can't rely on the opening hours listed online. We had arranged to meet several families from Essen at 12 p.m. on July 10, 2025. According to the website, the restaurant should be open. After receiving no response at 12:15 p.m., we called the restaurant. The response was that they couldn't answer the phone at the time. After searching for a while, we found a note somewhere on the window stating that Ronja's was closed for the holidays. Given the long commute, it's all the more unfortunate that something as important as the holidays can't be found online or left on an answering machine. So we certainly won't be making the trip there again! Even the great atmosphere and the good food are of no use!

We ate here before a show. Markus recommended the falafel 🧆. We also had a great appetizer platter and a crispy she can burger. Everything was delicious. The staff were super friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. We'll be back next time we're in Mühlheim.

The restaurant is a real asset to the park. We actually wanted to eat there for a child's birthday party, but as sometimes happens, the kids preferred to stay at the nearby water playground. The takeaway option was no problem. The menu offered plenty of suitable dishes. With kids' pizzas, fries, and appetizer plates, as well as vegan mayo, we kept all the kids happy and satisfied. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but ultimately quite reasonable for the location. We'd love to come back, and we'd also happily eat at the restaurant. :-)

Yesterday, I was back at Ronja's after a long absence. I've been a guest there for years, even earlier at the old restaurant. What can I say? Yes, the food was delicious... But it's always the same. The menu used to change, with seasonal dishes. Now, it's always the same. Vegetarian and vegan cuisine offers so much more, and there are now many restaurants that do it much better. It's a shame, but I hope that changes again.

I was here for the first time today and I don't think I'll be back. It's a lovely location with a beautiful outdoor area, but the service was awful. One waiter just looked grim. In the first hour, we only asked for drinks once, and our food order was taken after more than an hour. It wasn't so busy that you could attribute it to stress or a lot of work. It's a shame, it had so much more potential with the right service staff.

The bruschetta consisted of three small slices and cost €9 – unfortunately, the taste wasn't anything special. The other dishes at the table also seemed to be poorly prepared. We found the falafel particularly disappointing; they were obviously frozen. Given the prices, we would have expected considerably more freshness. It was also irritating that one of the servers wore a T-shirt with a provocative, rude slogan – in my opinion, that doesn't fit in a restaurant setting. Overall, unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it – the balance between quality, price, and service is completely out of whack here.

Beautifully located and incredibly well-appointed, creating a cozy, modern ambiance. The food tastes excellent, and there's something for everyone. We'll definitely be back! However, on our last two visits, we had to wait 25 minutes just for the menus, even though we were shown to our table and the staff walked past us twice to bring the menus to another table. Even after asking for the menus, which could have been a small, friendly reminder, things didn't get any better. We couldn't order more than a drink because no one else came to us after the food was served. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy at the time, so that can't have been the problem. If it could get a bit more lively, it would be perfect.

Oh dear, I've rarely experienced such poor service. Without getting involved by waving, shouting, and drumming, you won't get anything. Take your time and patience to linger here. The atmosphere and food are very good.

We waited an extremely long time (over an hour) for our food. The handling seemed dishonest, considering others had only waited about 15 minutes. The pizza was terrible and looked shockingly like a frozen version at pizzeria prices. The falafel was the same. The taste of everything was very bland. At least they refunded us the money for the food. I wouldn't go back.

My request for quality olive oil and good (apple) vinegar was only given pretense. I explained to three servers that the new sauces didn't agree with me and that at that price quality and selection are a given, just like any pizzeria. The salad arrived with a white, oil-free smear full of additives - a sloppy blob, but this time I wasn't offended by the stinginess in the quantity. It gave me diarrhea for two days. The 15 euros I paid, with no nutritional value or enjoyment, was a waste of time. My impression: The food is served as planned by the COST MANAGEMENT. Customer wishes are ignored as long as the money is collected. Student workers show just as little backbone as in most service industries. There doesn't seem to be a real chef here with herbs and natural foods or anyone taking responsibility. The vinegar is for PICKLING - the oil is used to store fat-soluble vitamins in the body. But this WAY ignores customer and biological laws. Herbs and onions are now omitted everywhere. New Age...trickery is erasing traditionally grown food and thus health protection and knowledge.

As a Mülheim resident who moved away, Ronja is an integral part of my travel plans every time I visit. The wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes delights me every time – I always find something I like. Although I do enjoy fish or meat occasionally, I particularly appreciate Ronja because it shows how creative, varied, and delicious meat-free cuisine can be. Here, the food is cooked with fresh ingredients, creativity, and flavor – without any sense of deprivation. The surroundings are also perfect: The location in MüGa Park is beautiful, and parking has never been a problem. And I almost always combine my visit with a walk through the green surroundings – that rounds out the experience. For me, it's a real highlight in Mülheim – honest, sustainable, and really good!

Yes, highly recommended for vegetarians. The bread always had a red paste in the middle, which made it soggy. Plain bread would have been great! We ordered burgers, which unfortunately were no longer available without us being informed in advance. So we had to choose again. The manager was constantly walking back and forth in the entrance area, creating a certain restlessness. He kept opening the French doors, which created quite a draft. Nevertheless, a lovely place in a great setting. Also recommended for small company parties. A big compliment to the fantastic staff, who were always friendly and accommodating.

I ate here for the first time last night with my best friend. By 6:30 p.m., the restaurant was already very busy. I highly recommend making a reservation. The first thing I noticed was the smell of the deep fryer, which hit me straight in the face. I don't really like that, especially since I could still smell the fryer oil when we left. Oh well. It's a large, open-plan restaurant that serves fried food, so it can't be completely avoided. We sat in a corner in the entrance area, where boxes were stacked above the door. Judging by the layer of dust, they seemed to have been there for a while. On the heater next to us were brochures for the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route, which also had dust and a few fly carcasses on them. You can do that, but I personally don't think it's that nice. But the customer restrooms were very, very clean! That's more important, I think. Now for the food: it was wonderful!!! We had a vegetarian appetizer platter that was delicious and spicy. The tzatziki is divine. Please never remove or change this dish from the menu!❤️ What really made me happy was the variety of non-alcoholic drinks. And: most of them are cheaper than the alcoholic version. And it was so delicious, I can highly recommend it. You really don't miss the alcohol at all. We had to share the main course because the appetizer was so filling. We shared a pizza with spinach and feta cheese. I wished the plate would never be empty. Simply delicious! What I have to praise most is the service! It's unbeatably attentive. Fast and very, very friendly. At first, the owner was at our table and made us feel welcome. And from then on, I didn't see the boxes and dust anymore. He made us feel like we were sitting in his living room. And when I'm invited to someone else's home for dinner, dust, boxes, and the smell of food are none of my business. A lovely evening is the main focus. And that's certainly what we had at Ronja's! We'd love to come back, based on my review. ❤️

Simply a wonderful ambiance and outstanding food. The angel hair is a true feast for the palate. This dessert alone is worth a visit to the restaurant, although the rest of the menu is also highly recommended. 🫶🏼

I finally wanted to eat with my children at the Ronja restaurant for Mother's Day!!! Good thing I only ordered the appetizer in advance... For three pieces of sheep's cheese with a few olives and a few strips of pepper, you pay €13.90!!!!!! Disgraceful!!!!!!!!!!!

We tried to eat there this evening, a table for 5 people was booked in advance. The restaurant was well attended but not full, our order was taken relatively quickly, but it is questionable whether everything was written down correctly. As a starter I had the lentil soup which also tasted good, there was also delicious bread, tzatziki for another person and another starter for my girlfriend. Two of us only ordered one main course (including the lentil soup). After an hour my empty plate was finally cleared away, the second opportunity to order something to drink was only given after we had discussed the condition. Even after we asked three times for the main courses, we didn't get any, very unpleasant for my friends who didn't have a starter. We finally left after 1 3/4 hours and were then told our food was ready. To be fair, I have to say that we didn't have to pay for the starters. Just to understand, guests who came after us received their food. I don't think I'll even go there again, it's actually a real shame.

Amateurish service. 30 minutes until the first drink order. The main course came when the starters were still on the table. Some of the food wasn't what we ordered. No attention from the waiters for possible repeat orders. Food was okay but very bland.

So, I don't know where the 4.5 stars come from. The ambience reminds me of a school cafeteria. The waitress greeted us in a friendly manner and took our order, after which we never saw her again. Well, you can let us know if you want something to drink. Still, it's not really good service for me... I didn't think the food was outstanding. Very manageable. So I had baked sheep's cheese as a starter. Maybe 100g cheese on very few vegetables, 3 olives €13.90. The price-performance ratio for the main course was just as catastrophic. Conclusion...far too expensive and zero flair.Sorry

Today we spontaneously went to Ronja. It was a cozy atmosphere and our food was also very tasty, it's great that there are many vegan options. We'll definitely be back 🤗

We wandered here by chance and only realized after reading the menu that it was a fully vegetarian restaurant... really hard to bear for die-hard carnivores like us 🙈🙊🙉 But the waitress was super nice and there was a nice outdoor seating area, so we wanted to give the place a try. Considering that the exclusively vegetarian cuisine is the flagship, the side salad was so-so... the dressing was a bit bland 🥱 and the cucumber slices were almost soggy 😓 ... the pizza was good 🍕... the lentil soup had an oriental touch 🥣... the homemade vine leaves on the appetizer platter were a bit too thin, but flavorful... The tzatziki was excellent 👌🏼

We found out about breakfast before the visit. Unfortunately the online presence was not up to date. There was a reduced offer on site at a higher price. The cleaner was still busy when guests were already there. Too bad.

We went to Restaurant Ronja for the first time today and unfortunately we didn't have a good experience. This was mainly due to poor service. On a weekend day with the best (predicted) sunny weather, one had to expect that the number of visitors could be large. Service and kitchen didn't seem prepared for this. We were not seated, but while waiting at the entrance as usual, we were looked at but ignored several times by the service rushing past. Well, after we had occupied a table, we were served alternately by a total of three service staff, a reliable sign that the service seems to be poorly organized or not organized at all. The service staff only ever came to our table when called. Almost 1 hour (!) after our food order, we asked about the status, and within the following 20 minutes the food for a total of 6 people arrived with a delay. The first person had finished by the time the last meal was served. Bruschetta takes 1 ¼ hours here or in our case. In the most recent negative reviews, the restaurant management complains that criticism could also be expressed directly. In a rather snippy tone we were reprimanded for not having expected such a rush. Well, yes. At least there were still free tables. The food itself was ok, but not good enough for the prices quoted. We wanted to have leftovers packed up and were then given boxes on the table that we could fill ourselves. I can live with that, including the fact that I had to get up and go to the checkout to pay. But then I expect a different price level. The location and the ambience are actually great, but you can't get anything out of this place. It's a shame, we had hoped for more.

Service was quick and friendly. We didn't have to wait long and received tickets. Coffee and the rosé were good. Unfortunately, the taste of the cakes was not as good. We assume that these were frozen cakes. However, the remaining dishes smelled very good and looked appetizing.

You sit at the table for a long time, service staff with no apparent job are constantly passing by, but you have to get the menu yourself if you want to order something. It looks as if there are young female students waiting tables there (quite acceptable as a COMPLEMENT), who are supervised by a young man who walks around the store like a tiger with his hands folded behind his back. Very unpleasant! The food, which used to be excellent when Ronjas was still in the old town and the boss cooked himself, is no longer worth mentioning. Standard menu for a vegan fast food joint, ingredients visible from the freezer without any taste. Sorry - that's how you ruin a good reputation!

Although my navigation system wanted to send me to the entrance from the wrong side, I still found the entrance in the dark. The restaurant was beautifully lit and I decided to come back in the summer as the forecourt looked really nice. I was very pleased with the large selection of vegetarian dishes and the falafel plate was really very good. The falafel wasn't too dry or hard, but just to my taste. The side dishes were sufficient, so that I found the portion sufficient even when I was very hungry.

We had dinner with them today as my mother's belated birthday dinner. The location is really nice. We were served straight away and the drinks/appetizers came quickly. We were even asked for food and drinks by three waiters. Unfortunately, a serious mistake occurred with the main course. My brother has been vegan for over 10 years and cannot digest dairy products well. The pizza came with real cheese despite being vegan. But when the waiter said this, three pieces had already disappeared from my stomach. Unfortunately, this was followed by stomach pains. In the end, we were even charged for the incorrectly delivered pizza and we had to specifically point out not to pay for it. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A VEGETARIAN/VEGAN RESTAURANT. Please be careful in the future.

Were here for coffee and cake. There was nothing else on in the corner so I tried the Ronja. We were here for the first time and were satisfied. Very tasty vegan cake and good coffee. There was a lot of service staff on the go and so everything went quickly. Payment is not made at the table but at a cash register at the entrance.

I had practically the most expensive dish on the menu for 19 euros, the vegetable pan. Unfortunately the vegetables were completely overcooked and mushy and the sauce was too salty and didn't taste good. Very unfortunate, I was so excited about this place because I thought it was something special. Unfortunately, the vegetable pan dish is not recommended as a curry. The chef can't do that. I advise against the dish. In addition, the price of 17 euros for a bit of zucchini, peppers and mushrooms is not right at all.

Highly recommended restaurant! A big compliment to the chef and the waitresses, they were friendly and gave us a nice welcome. We really enjoyed the food.

We went there by chance. Went to the Christmas market next door and spontaneously wanted to go out for something to eat. Not so easy with 7 people, we called and were able to come over. We still had to wait another 10 minutes, but we already knew that. What we didn't know was that they offered vegetarian/vegan dishes. But why not give it a try, we were really pleasantly surprised and we really enjoyed it. One or two of the group will probably come back again.

We celebrated our wedding at Ronja and couldn't have had a more beautiful and delicious day. The service staff were friendly and patient, even though some children were running around, they were always approachable, the planning went smoothly and was individually flexible. All of our guests said they were full and it was delicious; They all felt comfortable and well looked after and found the atmosphere inviting. It was a great day and we loved going there before and still do.

I was really disappointed on this visit. I've been to Ronja's before and everything was good, the food tasted great too. But on my last visit, the staff were either completely overwhelmed, even though the place wasn't overcrowded, or they were just totally uninterested. We had reserved for 2 people. When we sat at the table, it took 20 minutes until we got a card. Then we waited and waited. In the meantime, others came in and also a large group who had already ordered. Despite raising our hands several times, we couldn't even order drinks after 45 minutes. As we just left I saw the larger group already had food at their table. I've really never experienced anything like that.

Visited again. Tzatziki was very good. But the vegetable plate smelled a bit off. The owner was very kind and offered a discount which I politely declined. Will keep the same rating as last time but will visit again. 10 months ago—— Overall it was ok, nothing spectacular considering the price. Soup was mediocre and not worth €7.

The location at the roundhouse is very nice. But the staff? The speed is unbelievable. Even if the food had come from the kitchen piping hot, it would not have reached our table more than lukewarm. Drinks after ordering between 15-20 minutes. You can call it fast if you're in the right mood. But not us. As I said, lukewarm. Taste, if you like unseasoned raw food then it was fine. We've had better vegetarian meals. In short, not recommended.
