Restaurant Poseidon in Wuppertal

We've been going here for dinner once or twice a month for four months now. The food, drinks, and service have been exceptionally good. We spend around €50 per person for two starters, a main course, wine, and water. Our favorite wine, Moschofilero, is pure holiday pleasure by the glass, accompanied by tzatziki with crispy bread, fried anchovies, grilled meats, liver, lamb chops, or grilled baby calamari—all a wonderful short break without the hassle of flying.

We stumbled upon this Greek restaurant completely by chance—and it was a real stroke of luck! The food was simply amazing, especially the calamari, which was perfectly prepared. The service was incredibly warm and attentive; you immediately feel welcome. We especially liked the fact that the chef is also the owner—you can immediately feel her passion and friendliness. An all-around successful evening, one we'll definitely repeat soon. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

These three identical (Ukrainian or Russian) bad reviews from women are simply outrageous. I've eaten there several times and can judge the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. The chef pays meticulous attention to quality and cleanliness. When I see such negative reviews of a good restaurant, I wonder what's really behind it.

We've been regulars at the Poseidon for many years and can judge for ourselves the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. Both were and are excellent. The manager pays meticulous attention to quality and cleanliness. When I see such negative reviews of a good restaurant, which are unfortunately becoming more and more common, I wonder what's really behind them.

You can always get delicious Greek food here. The gyro is simply amazing! 😋 The ambiance is a bit over-the-top, but it has its own charm. The staff is really nice and very accommodating!

We were visiting the city two weeks ago and spontaneously stopped by. We got a table right away without a reservation and were greeted very warmly by our waitress outside. There were five of us and we had a wonderful evening with you! The moussaka was second to none. 😇Everything was truly excellent – from the service to the food. We'll be back. :-)

We ate gyros at this Greek restaurant – afterward, we had severe food poisoning for three days. Nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. A very bad experience, and the staff weren't friendly either. Never again. Not recommended!

A few days ago, I was at this restaurant. I've never experienced a worse restaurant. The owner is a very unfriendly woman. When my food was served, there was a black hair about 10 cm long on my plate. I called the waiter and showed it to him. The owner then came over and claimed I had put the hair there myself. She started shouting at the entire restaurant, using rude language. I had already eaten a few spoonfuls before I noticed the hair. Afterward, I vomited and got an upset stomach. Two days later, my stomach still hasn't recovered.

Please be careful! We ate gyros there and immediately afterward, severe symptoms began – vomiting, fever, and stomach cramps. We were sick for three days! To us, it was clearly food poisoning. The worst part: the staff reacted very coldly to our warnings. We would like to warn others not to eat there.

Poseidon is a lovely restaurant in Wuppertal-Vohwinkel, a bit tucked away in the back streets. It's worth a visit; everyone is really friendly, and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. The food is always fresh and tastes really good. Best wishes to the kitchen team :) I enjoy spending time here and letting the evenings wind down peacefully.

I wasn't really a fan of Greek food. But that changed immediately after my first visit to Poseidon! The gyro here is so incredibly good! The other dishes on the menu are also highly recommended! Everything is fresh, homemade, and of good quality. The ambiance is also very nice. Together with the extremely friendly and hospitable staff, it's a real invitation to linger. I really enjoy being here and always feel completely at home.

Good evening, the food we went to eat at the test when Poseidon was a field and we didn't like it very much and the food was all terrible because a friend of mine worked there and knew everything there and everything is spoiled and moldy and they keep the leftovers and make them into food again and it's a field and the food is spoiled and they have very bad food I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to eat there 👍

We learned to love the restaurant five years ago, but things have been going downhill for the last three years. Unfortunately we now have to realize... Never again!!! Apparently the restaurant is about to close, I can't explain it any other way. The rooms were unheated, so you were very cold without a jacket. On the starter salad, which unfortunately didn't seem fresh, there were small pieces of meat that didn't belong there. The rice on the main course we ordered was warmed up and tasted inedible. There was very little meat, so we weren't full. There was also the wrong meat on a plate. The price of a 0.4 L soft drink for €5, while 0.33 L can be purchased for €3.50, is disproportionate. Bags of mayo and bags of ketchup for €1 extra each are outrageous. The amount you get for a €5.50 tzatziki is marginally tiny. Unfortunately no longer recommended

My two friends and I had a very nice evening at Poseidon Restaurant yesterday. It was a spontaneous idea that we didn't regret. Everything was very tasty and even my otherwise very critical friend was enthusiastic about the juicy bifteki. The liver chosen from the daily menu and my mixed plate with gyros, souflaki and minced meat were also very tasty. The tiramisu was awesome. Since two of us didn't have to drive, we got a bottle of delicious Greek wine and an ouzo on the house at the end. The boss and waitress contributed a lot to making us feel comfortable. It's a shame that we only visited the restaurant after such a long time, as we really enjoy Greek food. After a short digestive walk we agreed that we would definitely come back.

You immediately feel at home when you come in. Everyone is very accommodating and listens to your wishes!!! The food was really delicious and sufficient!!!

Positive: the delivery was on time 5/5 stars (via Lieferando). Negative for 15.50 a gyros with tzatziki is tough. The size is outrageous for the money. Meat was dry and hard, as if it had been on the skewer for too long. Tzaziki was more like quark with garlic, no cucumber, no salt and no pepper, at least I didn't taste any of it. Fries are big but very small, a handful. You could forget about the salad that came with it because it had run out. Recommended No. That was my first and last time there

It is a restaurant that has been around for a long time. The food and furnishings are average. There is nothing special about the food. My liver meal was good. Olives and tzatziki must be ordered separately? There was a small ouzo at the end

I have to advise every guest to ask for the original bill... for the purpose of the tax office, as the food is billed by hand and is definitely not taxed or deducted. Furthermore, it must be clear that there is still a minimum wage of 9 euros. and don't be surprised... there are only drinks in glasses since most of them have expired since 2021. Small top on the edge... open the door to the balcony... the moldy drinks are there... for a large bottle of still water you will also be charged 5.80 from the tap. They're not allowed to give tips either... that's what the family who works there unannounced gets. Bon appetit

Visited on January 20th, 2024, as so often in recent years. A birthday dinner with 10 guests who were all very happy with the food and service. Not one person had anything to complain about. The young lady who served us was very, very friendly. Always happy, as the price/performance ratio is quite acceptable considering today's conditions. See you next time!

Sehr gemütlich, Bedingungen sehr sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und das Essen ist unschlagbar

Zwei mal dort gewesen und damit hat sich's. Beim ersten mal war es noch okay, aber vor ca. 2 Wochen die reinste Katastrophe. Mit einer Nacht voller Magenbeschwerden. Ich bestellte mir Gyros in Pfeffersauce, welches absolut ungenießbar war -neben einer kleinen handvoll Pommes, zu einem, für diese Menge und Qualität, überzogenen Preis. Das Fleisch an sich war okay, aber die Sauce schmeckte, als wäre ein ganzes Glas Pfeffer rein gefallen. Wir informierten die Bedienung, welche mit den Worten kam: "Da kann man nichts abmildern oder ändern, weil die Sauce morgens von Maria gemacht wird"... Nach weiteren Beschwerden unsererseits bekamen wir dann einen kleinen Teller Tzaziki, der das ganze aber unwesentlich genießbarer machte. Eine weitere Alternative oder ähnliches wurde uns nicht angeboten, sodass das Essen fast komplett zurück ging. Auch der Küchenchef ließ sich nicht einmal blicken. Zum Ende hin wurden wir dann von der Bedienung mit den Worten: "Darf ich dann abkassieren, damit ich Feierabend machen kann? Sie können ja noch sitzen bleiben" eine halbe Stunde vor Ladenschluss verabschiedet. Das hätte man als Gastronom und Gastgeber deutlich professioneller lösen können/müssen. Sehr unprofessionell und unangenehm. Wir kommen definitiv nicht mehr wieder.

Silvester 2023 mit der Familie dort gewesen. Sehr aufmerksame und kundige (Essen und Weinempfehlung war perfekt) Bedienung. Trotz vollem Haus sehr schneller und punktgenauer Service. Und super Essen (Steak und Gyros 1 Klasse). Rund um gelungener Abend mit angemessenen Preisen

Eigentlich nicht meine Art, aber das muss jetzt sein. Als wir spontan rein kamen, wurden wir direkt nett begrüßt und zum Tisch geführt. Uns wurden die "Speisekarten" (durcheinander gebrachte Blätter im Schnellhefter) hingelegt, die Getränke- und kurze Zeit später die Essensbestellung fast sofort aufgenommen. Soweit so gut. Allerdings, als das Essen kam, wobei ich es ehrlich gesagt bei den Preisen schon fast eine Frechheit finde, ein kleines Kinderhändchen Pommes oder Bratkartoffeln zu servieren, mussten wir fast sofort feststellen, dass ein Essen komplett verhauen war. Jeder am Tisch hat probiert und alle waren sich einig. Das Gyros mit Pfeffersauce schmeckte so dermaßen nach Pfeffer, absolut ungenießbar. Aber anstatt uns entgegen zu kommen, mal vielleicht selber zu probieren, oder ggf den Chef/Köchin kommen zu lassen, war die einzige Reaktion:"Ja, kann ich nichts ändern, Maria macht die Sauce morgens schon. Ich kann sie leider nicht milder machen." Kurz danach kam sie zwar mit einem Tellerchen Zaziki, um die Schärfe abzumildern, gebracht hat das aber wenig. So ging ein Teller komplett zurück. Um 21:10 kam sie an den Tisch (übrigens bis 21:30 auf), fragt, ob wir bezahlen würden, dann könne sie Feierabend machen. Berechnet wurde übrigens alles. Am Anfang fand ich sie echt freundlich, aber mit jeder Minute mehr merkte man, dass das eine aufgesetzte Freundlichkeit war. Danke, aber nie wieder. Geht absolut gar nicht.

Sehr, sehr köstlich, Ambiente total liebevoll, Service super freundlich und äußerst zuvorkommend. Ein Besuch lohnt sich sehr!!! Wer RICHTIG griechisches Essen liebt, ist hier genau richtig. Die Speisen sind frisch zubereitet und man fühlt sich rundum wohl. Ich komme gerne wieder und werde das Restaurant weiterempfehlen.

Das im Herzen von Vohwinkel, in einem für Wuppertal typischen Altbau gelegne Restaurant Poseidon, ist erstaunlich groß von innen. Das Ambiente ist liebevoll gestaltet und sauber. Das Essen war hervorragend und die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Obwohl es viele Tische gibt, wirkte auf uns alles angenehm familiär. Wir kommen bestimmt nochmal zum Essen. Ich danke dem Team für den angenehmen Aufenthalt.

Hallo zusammen Eine Geburtstagsfeier ist ein toller Anlass um hier einen Tisch zu bekommen. Alle meine Gäste waren sehr begeistert vom Essen ( welches frisch zubereitet wird ) , von der Bedienung und von der Liebevollen Köchin des Hauses . Was für eine Gaumenfreude . Das Ambiente hat auch allen sehr gefallen . Ich kann es jedem empfehlen der hier seinen Abend verbringen möchte. Einen lieben Dank an das ganze Team für den schönen Samstag 28.10.2023

Bestes griechisches Restaurant, das ich kenne, Chefin iss en richtiges Original, es ist alles immer frisch zubereitet, immer unfassbar lecker, gute Portionen, gute Preise, mir fehlt es hier an nichts, auch nen Parkplatz findet man normalerweise so gut wie direkt vor der Tür, 6 von 5 Sternen!

Lecker Essen !Kleine Karte aber für jeden etwas dabei! Leider waren wir von der Portionsgröße etwas enttäuscht!

Soulfood vom Feinsten, in der wahrsten Bedeutung des Wortes. Das Essen super frisch und saftig, von einer Köchin zubereitet die Seele hat. Ich verneige mich vor so viel Qualität. Und das habe ich erst einmal in einem Slowfood Restaurant in der Toscana gemacht. Chapeau!

Service freundlich, leider beim Gericht kein Tsatziki dabei, dieser war teuer bei der Nachbestellung. Insgesamt aber preislich durchaus ok, lecker geschmeckt hat es auch. Einen Ouzo gab es aufs Haus.

Man kann ja auch mal Pech haben. Netter Empfang.....Bedienung bemerkte bei jedem Kontakt lautstark, dass sie SEHR GERNE alle Wünsche entgegen nimmt. Es nervte MICH irgendwann, weil ich mit noch 5 weiteren Gästen am Tisch saß. Speisekarte erhalten, hatte mich allerdings im Internet auf der Homepage des Restaurants schon über das Speisenangebot informiert und mein Wunschessen zusammen gestellt. Ups...... auf der mir überreichten Karte waren die vorab ausgesuchten Speisen nicht zu finden und die Preise waren höher als im Internet ausgewiesen. Habe mich dann kurzer Hand für Lachsfilet mit Reis entschieden. Es kam mit Verspätung und der Fisch war innen noch völlig roh. Ich mag kein Sushi. Mir ist der Appetit vergangen. Kellnerin gerufen, sie entschuldigte sich und erklärte, dass ich meine Apfelschorle nun nicht bezahlen muss. Nett. Ich muss dort nicht noch einmal hin.

Das ist ein wirklich empfehlenswertes Restaurant. Die Speisen sind bei einer großen Auswahl immer frisch zubereitet. Trotz vollem Restaurant und Familienfeier, freundliche und schnelle Bedienung. Zudem ist die Lage günstig zu erreichen.

4,5 Sterne! Leider ist auf Grund von Personalmangel gibt es leider nur eine reduzierte Karte, trotzdem findet jeder etwas. Die Portion sind in Ordnung aber nicht besonders groß. Qualität der Speisen super, der Service top und das Ambiente angenehm.

Nettes Lokal mit sehr gutem Essen. War zum ersten Mal dort und war zufrieden. Portion hätte etwas größer sein können aber war ok. Jedoch für Ketchup Geld abkassieren finde ich in einem Restaurant nicht ok.

Ich war hier schon öfters genießen!👌 Besonders liebe ich die Kalbsleber! Unsere Betriebsfeier zu Weihnachten hatten wir hier auch schon. Essen war immer TOP (frische Zubereitung kann bei vielen Personen auch mal zwei Minuten länger dauern,was absolut o.K. ist) und man kann Sonderwünsche äußern! Ich habe auch schon die Bestellung mal telefonisch aufgegeben und das Essen dann abgeholt! Auch da war ich positiv überrascht. Freundliches Personal ,der übliche Ouzo (auch schon mal vor dem Essen 🫣) zum Abschluss war selbstverständlich (nicht immer oder überall mittlerweile mehr so). Also für mich hier in der Umgebung einer der lobenswerten Geheimtipps!!

Griechisch in Vohwinkel: Besonders die Metaxasauce kann hier, im Restaurant Poseidon an der Vohwinkeler Gustavstraße, sehr empfohlen werden. Das Pfannengyros, in das sie eingearbeitet ist, ist frisch, leicht knusprig, sehr gut paprikakräuterig abgeschmeckt. Sehr gut ist auch der Service: überaus freundlich, zugewandt, effizient. Überhaupt sitzt man angenehm, in diesem charmanten Altbau, mit den hohen Decken, licht und doch gemütlich, von sehnsuchtsreicher griechischer Musik dezent begleitet. Kein Wunder, dass das Lokal gut besucht ist. Preislich geht es hier durchaus reell zu, bei Speisen wie auch Getränken. Der Salat und die Menge der Pommes Frites sind zwar eher durchschnittlich, was aber durch ein sehr erfrischendes, selbstgemachtes Tzatziki wieder aufgefangen wird.

Perfektes essen. Sehr gute Vorspeisen Platte, die fritierten Möhren Raspeln waren der Knaller! Hauptgang das Lamm habe ich noch nie so perfekt gegessen. Kellnerin sehr nett und alles Top. Danke für den netten Abend!
