Fantastisches Essen, tolles Ambiente, super Service!!

War heute Abend mit Ingi in unserem griechischen Lieblingsrestaurant Poseidon. Das Dessert Galaktompoureko war überirdisch gut, danke an die Küche.

Essen war richtig lecker und wir hatten einen schönen Abend vor Ort

Das Essen war sehr gut das Restaurant kann ich als gelernter Koch nur empfehlen.

Auf der Durchreise in Idar-Oberstein hat man uns dieses Restaurant empfohlen. Gesagt getan, alles toll. Sehr leckeres Essen, nette und sehr höfliche Bedienung, alles sauber und normale Preise.

Super Essen und super Service !

Dieser Ort ist einfach fantastisch! Jedes Mal, wenn ich meine Familie in Idar-Oberstein besuche, ist ein Besuch hier ein absolutes Muss. Ich esse hier (im ursprünglichen Gebäude) seit 2002, als ich in der Straßburger Kaserne stationiert war. Das Essen und der Service sind bis heute unverändert gut – einfach exzellent! Absolut empfehlenswert! Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Fantastisches Essen, ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder. Der Chef und die Bedienung waren super freundlich, die Portionen waren großzügig und hervorragend gewürzt.

Keine Hunde erlaubt - sorry aber sich in der heutigen Zeit so zu verhalten verstehe ich nicht, noch dazu ein ganz kleiner Hund in der Tasche. Ist für mich menschlich durchgefallen dieses Restaurant. Sehr schade.

Ich habe schon viele griechische Restaurants besucht, aber dieses hier sticht wirklich heraus. Vom ersten Moment an fühlt man sich willkommen – die Atmosphäre ist warm, familiär und gleichzeitig stilvoll. Das Essen? Absolut überragend. Die Qualität der Zutaten schmeckt man sofort, alles wirkt frisch, authentisch und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Besonders das Fleisch war perfekt auf den Punkt gegrillt – saftig, aromatisch und genau so, wie man es sich wünscht. Auch die Beilagen und Vorspeisen waren hervorragend abgestimmt. Der Service verdient ebenfalls ein großes Lob: aufmerksam, freundlich und schnell, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu sein. Man merkt, dass hier echte Gastfreundschaft gelebt wird. Das Personal ist auch sehr kinderfreundlich! Für mich definitiv das beste griechische Restaurants, das ich bisher besucht habe. Ich komme garantiert wieder – und empfehle es jedem, der Wert auf gutes Essen, Qualität und ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis legt.

Sehr freundliches, sehr nettes Personal in toller Location. Das Essen hat super geschmeckt war zwar etwas teurer, aber echt seinem preiswert. Gerne wieder.!

Wie immer sehr sehr lecker leidet nur etwas teuer

Schick eingerichtetes Restaurant mit einer reichhaltigen Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 20 Personen hier und wurden schnell und professionell bedient. Die bestellten essen gingen einmal quer durch die Karte und es hat allen geschmeckt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Sehr feines Essen bei gemütlichem Ambiente. Preis etwas hoch gegriffen und Service solala.

Sehr gutes Essen, freundliche Bedienung

Ambiente etwas laut, aber das ist LEBEN. Nach anfänglich etwas Wartezeit, kamen die Getränke und die Speisekarte recht flott. Salat sehr lecker und frisch. Da dem Junior auffiel, dass wir etwas verloren gesessen haben und, seiner Meinung nach etwas vernachlässigt wurden, bekamen wir eine extraportion Aufmerksamkeit. Immer wieder gerne! Und da die Portionen reichlich sind, haben meine Hunde sich auch gefreut, als ich mit dem Doggypack nach Hause kam..

Das Essen war ganz lecker, das Mineralwasser, das in einer offenen Karaffe gereicht wird, hatte einen merkwürdigen Beigeschmack und war ungenießbar. Der Service am Tisch war aufmerksam und freundlich. Ich habe eine Rechnung gebraucht, da es sich um ein Geschäftsessen handelte. Diesem Wunsch wurde sehr unprofessionell nachgekommen. Ich musste mehrmals darum bitten. Die Rechnung kam per Mail in einem Dateiformat, das nicht zu öffnen war. Dann war die Rechnung ohne Steuernummer - sehr suspekt. Ich habe bis heute keine korrekte Rechnung erhalten und bleibe auf den Kosten sitzen. Da vergeht mir der Spaß eines erneuten Besuchs der Lokalität.

Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und sympathisch. Das Ambiente ist nett, aber bei vollem Restaurant auch recht laut. Das Essen ist schmackhaft und lecker. Was allerdings enttäuschend war, sind die Preise. Mir ist völlig klar, dass wir in 2026 leben und Lohnkosten sowie Preise für die Zutaten sicherlich gestiegen sind - und am Ende soll ja auch noch Gewinn übrig bleiben. Allerdings haben mich einige Preise schon erschrocken und auf der Gegenseite steht auch die MwSt Senkung von 19% auf 7%, wo ich nicht glaube, dass hier sonderlich viel an den Kunden zurückgegeben wird. Deswegen der Stern Abzug.

Absolut NICHT zu empfehlen, Empfang war freundlich, nach 40 Minuten ohne bedient zu werden das Restaurant verlassen. Das Personal läuft munter fröhlich an einem vorbei, reagiert auch nicht auf zuwinken oder Ähnliches. Selten so Inkompetentes Personal Gesehen.

Wurden freundlich an unseren Tisch begleitet, jedoch war danach das Problem, das niemand mehr kam, Ankunft im Restaurant war 20:20 Uhr, um 20:45 Uhr sind wir dann aufgestanden und gegangen da wir komplett von den Kellnerinnen ignoriert wurden! Sehr schlechter Service, keine Empfehlung wert!!!!!

Zum ersten Mal da und ich war überrascht, wie viele Leute da waren. Ich hatte den Chef noch nie zuvor gesehen. Mir fehlen die Worte, Herr Michalis.

Ein wirklich gutes Testaurant mit angenehmer Atmosphäre und einem freundlichen und professionellen Service. Am Essen gibts nichts auszusetzen, es schmeckt und die Portionen sind fast schon zu üppig bemessen. Mir fehlt allerdings das letzte Quentchen, um das Essen als HAMMER! zu bezeichnen. Ich kann nicht sagen, was man besser machen könnte, da alles optisch ansprechend, saftig und gut gewürzt ist. Der letzte Kick fehlt einfach. Positiv finde ich auch, dass man aufgrund der Größe des Restaurants nicht vorbestellen muss, bisher haben wir immer einen Tisch bekommen. Die Parksituation ist ebenfalls ok, und im Sommer kann man auf der großen Terasse sitzen. Alles gut, aber nicht HAMMER!

Essen war gut. Bedienungen auch. Leider fühlt man sich in die großen Saal wie in einer Bahnhofsvorhalle.

We had a mixed grill for two, which was delicious. The service was very friendly. A very pleasant atmosphere.

Not recommended. I wasn't satisfied with the food. The appetizer was fried eggplant; the breading was strange and the vegetables weren't cooked through. The main course was a gyro with cream sauce, but there was more sauce and cheese than meat.

We dined at Poseidon twice in a row and were absolutely delighted both times. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, bright, and spacious. The large dining room offers plenty of room, and you immediately feel comfortable and relaxed. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We were recognized and greeted warmly on our second evening – a rare treat. Both the waitresses and the owner himself visited our table several times, checking on our well-being and providing first-class service. The appetizers and main courses were delicious, all fresh and expertly prepared. The wait was pleasant – not too short and not too long, just right for a relaxing evening. The wine selection was also excellent. All in all, we had a wonderful evening. If we ever vacation in the area again, we will definitely return. 👉 Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant is very popular.

We were surprised. Everything was very good. We ate the Plaka plate and the Algenrodt plate. Both were generously sized portions. The service was very friendly and helpful. It's a shame, I wish I had the same experience back home.

We've been regulars for many years. Eating at Poseidon is something of a family tradition. The food is always delicious, the service is attentive, and any longer wait times are announced. When in doubt, the owners are accommodating and accommodating. You're recognized and warmly welcomed. Great food in a warm, intimate atmosphere—what more could you want?

We wanted to spend a pleasant evening at this restaurant. The reception was pleasant. The restaurant was moderately busy. The wait for drinks was reasonable; we ordered two starters and four main courses. The wait for the starter was 40 minutes, which was quite intense. While we were eagerly awaiting the food, it was lukewarm. We complained, explained with a smile that the main courses would be coming soon, and then we were finished. We ordered our steak medium, but unfortunately it was medium-well. Not a word of apology, nothing. Sorry, an ouzo won't do it. What we found outrageous was that changing the order from rice to fries or a different sauce cost an extra €2.50. A shame...

Family-run Greek restaurant Fresh ingredients are used. Therefore, the restaurant is highly recommended for its taste and quality. The service is friendly. If there's one criticism, it's that the noise level is a bit too high due to the open space. Reservations are recommended on weekends. Overall, though, this is one of the best restaurants in the region.

Prices have risen impossibly. Too expensive!

A restaurant run by a Greek family from A to Z. It is beautiful, the food is delicious, and there is a beautiful view, but the prices are a bit expensive.

We stopped here on a Monday because another restaurant was closed. The drinks came quickly. We started with a free ouzo. The food was okay, quite tasty, but a bit overpriced. A bit too much gyro, even though I managed to finish it. I agree with another review: 3/4 of the current price and a portion is more than enough. My daughter had spaghetti with tomato sauce at a fair children's price. The other daughter received a €5.00 discount on the children's portion. It was still quite a lot and could have been smaller and cost less. At the end, the chef even came himself to ask if everything was okay and tasty. We had another red ouzo afterward, and the children received lollipops. The chef even said goodbye to us personally. But since everything was very good overall, I'm giving it 5 stars.

Absolutely fantastic. Really very good.

The appetizers arrived promptly and were very good, especially the fried eggplant. We also had the garlic bread (which had an olive paste and a kind of garlic mayonnaise on top) and the tirokroketes (three potato and cheese balls), which were very good. We also tried the spanakopita, but we didn't like it and wouldn't recommend it. The portions of the main courses were very generous, and we couldn't finish them. For the price, it's worth it. The beef in the Geschmortes Rindfleisch was a bit stringy, which is probably why it's served with tzatziki. The restaurant is very beautiful and elegant, and there's also a lovely terrace. The restrooms are very elegant and clean.

Not recommended if you're hungry. The preparation takes an exorbitantly long time. The terrace doesn't have any blankets or cushions; it was far too cold, especially with children! We were reminded several times not to speak loudly before other guests overhear. We left after two hours. The lady in the kitchen and the cellar were very unfriendly. We would have preferred not to pay for the drinks. 4.7 stars must have fallen from the sky. Unjustified.

Highly recommended – a thoroughly enjoyable evening! We were at the restaurant with a group of 22 people – and what can we say? It was simply fantastic! The food was outstanding: fresh, flavorful, and lovingly prepared. Every single one of us was delighted – and that for such a large group! The kitchen really did a great job. The service was also consistently excellent. Friendly, attentive, prompt, and always with a smile – we felt completely at home. Despite the group size, everything ran smoothly and professionally. A huge thank you to the entire team – both in the service and in the kitchen. Yes – expensive – but good. Reduce the prices and portion size to 2/3 – then it would be great!!!

We enjoyed excellent Greek food here, and all the dishes were delicious. The portions are very generous and justify the price. One main course, including an appetizer, is enough for two people. The ambiance on the terrace is very pleasant and also offers shade from the sun. Of course, you can also take leftover food with you. The waiters should divide the tables, as we were asked the same thing several times.

We really like the restaurant; the owners are very friendly and also very fond of children. Our little one, at 1.5 years old, got her own little salad, so cute. We didn't see a children's corner, but maybe there is one, I can't say for sure. The food was, as always, delicious 😋 and plentiful. The music was a bit too loud the last time we were there.

I won't go there again, it didn't taste good, there are better ones

I would definitely give more stars. The food is really mega, very large portion. The appetizer of pepperoni with garlic is also very tasty. Very friendly staff and the boss is very nice.

We went to Poseidon for dinner with a larger group based on a recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is very large and has a typical Greek flair. The service staff are super nice and you don't have to wait long, even though the restaurant was very busy. The menu has everything your heart desires. The prices are a bit higher, but you're happy to pay a euro more for the quality offered. We enjoyed all of our meals very much. We were impressed by the large portion as well as the taste and quality. The Poseidon definitely gets a recommendation and we will definitely come back there again if we are in Idar-Oberstein more often.

The restaurant is impressively beautiful, the service is outstanding and the food tastes fantastic. The ambience invites you to linger and you feel very comfortable. The toilets are very clean and smell pleasant. The family business exudes a pleasant charm that you rarely find in restaurants these days. I will definitely come here more often in the future.

The best restaurant in the Birkenfeld district. The garlic bread is absolutely amazing. But the main course is also great and the staff is very friendly. 5*****

Solid Greek restaurant. It's easy to go there. Reasonable price-performance ratio.

Food and service were really good. The ambience can be improved. You should create more sound insulation through plants or niches. It is relatively loud when all tables are occupied. Had dinner with 14 people. Some would have liked to order dessert. Unfortunately we were told it was too busy and there was no dessert. Was very disappointing. So some left very early.

Very, very good food and friendly staff who tend to overlook you and rarely ask if you would like something else to drink. What was a catastrophe, however, was the overall volume in the restaurant; it was terribly loud so that you involuntarily heard the conversations of the neighboring tables and could only have a conversation with the person opposite you at a volume that was by no means comfortable.

Food was okay, just a matter of taste. I just know different tastes from Greeks. I can't recommend garlic sauce, prefer olive oil and fresh garlic. Partly over-seasoned. But so far quite good and plentiful. The boss could be a little friendlier. The service was on point. Very loud ambience, sometimes uncomfortable but when there is less activity then the volume can be reduced. I don't think we'll go there anymore.

Extrem freundliches Personal. Sehr umsorgt, sehr zuvorkommend. Insbesondere für Kinder wird alles ermöglicht. Das Essen ist durchgehend fantastisch. Auch beim zweiten Besuch nach einem Jahr gleichbleibend gute Qualität. Das Fleisch ist perfekt gegart, sogar das Gyros war schön saftig. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.

Very disappointing visit. This used to be our “go-to” restaurant when it came to Greek food. Unfortunately, on our last visit the restaurant presented itself very differently than I remembered. First of all, the positive thing was that the food was still delicious, but the price was definitely out of proportion. Way too expensive for what you get! However, the service this time was absolutely disappointing. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not completely crowded, the waiting times were extremely long. After a short time, as soon as we were seated, someone came to order the drinks. Since we still needed a little time, the waitress wanted to come back “immediately”. When no one came for the drinks after almost 40 (!) minutes and we were about to leave the restaurant again, we asked the waitress about the long waiting time, who instead of being understanding, became snappy. We also had to wait a long time for the food and after the criticism we were ignored and unfriendly for the rest of the evening. This is how you successfully scare away your customers. We will visit other restaurants in the future.

So they are very unstructured, we waited for the food for about an hour and then we wanted to pack the food and someone came to take the food away but unfortunately we waited 40 minutes until we got the food. Unfortunately that is very frustrating because we We waited a long time before we even got the food. The food itself was good.

Hospitality is still alive here. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. A pleasure without regrets. We recommend.
