Family-run Greek restaurant Fresh ingredients are used. Therefore, the restaurant is highly recommended for its taste and quality. The service is friendly. If there's one criticism, it's that the noise level is a bit too high due to the open space. Reservations are recommended on weekends. Overall, though, this is one of the best restaurants in the region.

We stopped here on a Monday because another restaurant was closed. The drinks came quickly. We started with a free ouzo. The food was okay, quite tasty, but a bit overpriced. A bit too much gyro, even though I managed to finish it. I agree with another review: 3/4 of the current price and a portion is more than enough. My daughter had spaghetti with tomato sauce at a fair children's price. The other daughter received a €5.00 discount on the children's portion. It was still quite a lot and could have been smaller and cost less. At the end, the chef even came himself to ask if everything was okay and tasty. We had another red ouzo afterward, and the children received lollipops. The chef even said goodbye to us personally. But since everything was very good overall, I'm giving it 5 stars.

The appetizers arrived promptly and were very good, especially the fried eggplant. We also had the garlic bread (which had an olive paste and a kind of garlic mayonnaise on top) and the tirokroketes (three potato and cheese balls), which were very good. We also tried the spanakopita, but we didn't like it and wouldn't recommend it. The portions of the main courses were very generous, and we couldn't finish them. For the price, it's worth it. The beef in the Geschmortes Rindfleisch was a bit stringy, which is probably why it's served with tzatziki. The restaurant is very beautiful and elegant, and there's also a lovely terrace. The restrooms are very elegant and clean.

Highly recommended – a thoroughly enjoyable evening! We were at the restaurant with a group of 22 people – and what can we say? It was simply fantastic! The food was outstanding: fresh, flavorful, and lovingly prepared. Every single one of us was delighted – and that for such a large group! The kitchen really did a great job. The service was also consistently excellent. Friendly, attentive, prompt, and always with a smile – we felt completely at home. Despite the group size, everything ran smoothly and professionally. A huge thank you to the entire team – both in the service and in the kitchen. We will definitely be back and recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience. 5 out of 5 stars – absolutely top class!

Not recommended if you're hungry. The preparation takes an exorbitantly long time. The terrace doesn't have any blankets or cushions; it was far too cold, especially with children! We were reminded several times not to speak loudly before other guests overhear. We left after two hours. The lady in the kitchen and the cellar were very unfriendly. We would have preferred not to pay for the drinks. 4.7 stars must have fallen from the sky. Unjustified.

Yes – expensive – but good. Reduce the prices and portion size to 2/3 – then it would be great!!!

We enjoyed excellent Greek food here, and all the dishes were delicious. The portions are very generous and justify the price. One main course, including an appetizer, is enough for two people. The ambiance on the terrace is very pleasant and also offers shade from the sun. Of course, you can also take leftover food with you. The waiters should divide the tables, as we were asked the same thing several times.

We really like the restaurant; the owners are very friendly and also very fond of children. Our little one, at 1.5 years old, got her own little salad, so cute. We didn't see a children's corner, but maybe there is one, I can't say for sure. The food was, as always, delicious 😋 and plentiful. The music was a bit too loud the last time we were there.

I won't go there again, it didn't taste good, there are better ones

We went to Poseidon for dinner with a larger group based on a recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is very large and has a typical Greek flair. The service staff are super nice and you don't have to wait long, even though the restaurant was very busy. The menu has everything your heart desires. The prices are a bit higher, but you're happy to pay a euro more for the quality offered. We enjoyed all of our meals very much. We were impressed by the large portion as well as the taste and quality. The Poseidon definitely gets a recommendation and we will definitely come back there again if we are in Idar-Oberstein more often.

The restaurant is impressively beautiful, the service is outstanding and the food tastes fantastic. The ambience invites you to linger and you feel very comfortable. The toilets are very clean and smell pleasant. The family business exudes a pleasant charm that you rarely find in restaurants these days. I will definitely come here more often in the future.

Solid Greek restaurant. It's easy to go there. Reasonable price-performance ratio.

Food and service were really good. The ambience can be improved. You should create more sound insulation through plants or niches. It is relatively loud when all tables are occupied. Had dinner with 14 people. Some would have liked to order dessert. Unfortunately we were told it was too busy and there was no dessert. Was very disappointing. So some left very early.

Very, very good food and friendly staff who tend to overlook you and rarely ask if you would like something else to drink. What was a catastrophe, however, was the overall volume in the restaurant; it was terribly loud so that you involuntarily heard the conversations of the neighboring tables and could only have a conversation with the person opposite you at a volume that was by no means comfortable.

Food was okay, just a matter of taste. I just know different tastes from Greeks. I can't recommend garlic sauce, prefer olive oil and fresh garlic. Partly over-seasoned. But so far quite good and plentiful. The boss could be a little friendlier. The service was on point. Very loud ambience, sometimes uncomfortable but when there is less activity then the volume can be reduced. I don't think we'll go there anymore.

Extrem freundliches Personal. Sehr umsorgt, sehr zuvorkommend. Insbesondere für Kinder wird alles ermöglicht. Das Essen ist durchgehend fantastisch. Auch beim zweiten Besuch nach einem Jahr gleichbleibend gute Qualität. Das Fleisch ist perfekt gegart, sogar das Gyros war schön saftig. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.

Very disappointing visit. This used to be our “go-to” restaurant when it came to Greek food. Unfortunately, on our last visit the restaurant presented itself very differently than I remembered. First of all, the positive thing was that the food was still delicious, but the price was definitely out of proportion. Way too expensive for what you get! However, the service this time was absolutely disappointing. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not completely crowded, the waiting times were extremely long. After a short time, as soon as we were seated, someone came to order the drinks. Since we still needed a little time, the waitress wanted to come back “immediately”. When no one came for the drinks after almost 40 (!) minutes and we were about to leave the restaurant again, we asked the waitress about the long waiting time, who instead of being understanding, became snappy. We also had to wait a long time for the food and after the criticism we were ignored and unfriendly for the rest of the evening. This is how you successfully scare away your customers. We will visit other restaurants in the future.

So they are very unstructured, we waited for the food for about an hour and then we wanted to pack the food and someone came to take the food away but unfortunately we waited 40 minutes until we got the food. Unfortunately that is very frustrating because we We waited a long time before we even got the food. The food itself was good.

We were there on a Saturday evening and got a table on the terrace (as requested) without making a reservation. The ambience is very nice and the view is fantastic. Food was good and, above all, plentiful. Prices reasonable for the portion. The boss and the waitresses were very friendly. We'll definitely come back. There are coloring books and pencils for children.

The location itself is really nice, but unfortunately it is always quite loud when it is busy, there is a lot of noise, which is why you almost have to shout at each other at your own table. The food is always very tasty, but depending on the company it sometimes takes a little longer, not that tragic in my opinion. The owners are super nice, always friendly and sometimes joke.

The food tasted good, but wasn't great, I would have expected more for the price. The store was sparsely staffed and fortunately not very busy. We probably won't come back again.

I haven't eaten so badly in years. After almost an hour the order came. We had a platter for 4 people and everything on it was just carelessly thrown on top of each other. Gyros were something like “fried to death” and consisted almost entirely of cartilage. Tzatiki is unfortunately pretty bland. An additional dish was served almost cold. The salad consisted of 5 leaves with a dollop of dressing. Regardless of the enormous volume (which we already knew), we had the feeling that it should only be processed as quickly as possible. No question about whether you would like a drink or even dessert. The only positive thing for us that evening was the really friendly service. For a meal that cost us over 200 euros, just disappointing.

This place has a beautiful atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. Has a beautiful view of Idar Oberstein as the restaurant sits on a hill. My husband and I ordered the Feta Cheese as an appetizer and we really enjoyed it. I then ordered the Gyro and Calamari dish. It was a lot of food but I certainly enjoyed it especially the salad that it came with.

As always, very good food with good friends. Portions are rather generous. Price range is more upscale. But you don't treat yourself to anything else.

We haven't been coming for quite some time now and prefer the Greeks in Birkenfeld: Reasons: the prices have risen ridiculously and are no longer in relation to the food on offer, both in taste and quantity. I think the high was a little too high. Given the increased cost of living, you should definitely remain realistic as a restaurant. 2. The “monkey dance” of the male staff is embarrassing, annoying and the friendliness is fake. As a guest you can feel that. 3. The ambience has never been more sparkling! The two tables in particular are real sidings. I miss the Knossos pan, but other Greeks have beautiful sons too!

Top notch one of the best in Germany that I have had. The lamb chops are very well cooked and very well seasoned. I think it's a family-owned business. They take pride in their service. The drinks are phenomenal. The food is phenomenal. This place is most definitely a place where you want to go take your date. Take the family because you can sit there for hours, eat, talk and have a good time. I most definitely recommend the lamb chops they have a great wine selection. Overall top notch I literally drive an hour out of Kaiserslautern to eat here and it's several Greek locations here.

Eating like with friends. The warmth with which you are welcomed and served cannot be compared to other restaurants. Here you are a guest and feel accepted and welcome. The two of us shared 1 starter and 1 main course with 4 other starters in the main course, it was a poem. All the dishes were prepared very tasty and the large selection made it a varied feast without too many mountains of meat. The service was very friendly and discreet in the background. Everyone was very quick and fit. If I had to make a recommendation it would be the calamari (#11) and definitely the grilled pepperoni (#70). But that doesn't do the rest justice, you have to eat a pan-fried dish, our bifteki pan with metaxa sauce (No. 352) was absolutely delicious and with all the other (starter) dishes it was more than enough for two. 5 stars are justified in all categories, we will be back! And we will share everything again, it's so wonderfully varied, you have to try it! And with these uncomplicated hosts it's twice as nice!

My family and I have been coming here for years. We always have a great experience. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is always welcoming.

The best restaurant in Idar-Oberstein. Very tasty food. The waiters are very attentive. Great service. The downside is that there are always a lot of visitors and quite noisy, as well as few parking spaces. I recommend having dinner here!

This is the best restaurant that I have been to in this part of Germany! For the price, you get A LOT of food, and it is delicious. I talked with the manager for a bit, and he was so friendly. He even offered a couple of free drinks on the house. I highly recommend!

Wir waren gestern dort essen. Das Essen war sehr lecker, am besten jedoch die Vorspeise. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam aber nicht aufdringlich. man musste nicht lange warten werder auf das Essen noch auf die Getränke. Man hatte immer ein Getränk da stehen oder wurde gefragt was man möchte. Preisleistung ist hier gut. Es ist sehr sauber auch das WC war sauber. Bei viel Betrieb ist es doch sehr laut, da es viele Plätze drin gibt. Kleiner minus Punkt aber dafür kann das Restaurante nichts, es sind sehr wenig Parkplätze vorhanden wir mussten lange suchen und dann auch an der Strasse parken. (ist vielleicht aber auch weil wir uns nicht auskennen). Sehr zu empfehlen und wir kommen auch sehr gerne wieder.

Sehr beeindruckt vom Ambiente, macht echt was her. Speisen waren insgesamt ok. Der Service jedoch war an dem Abend aufgrund der Fülle im Restaurant scheinbar überfordert. Wir bekamen unser Essen nach 2 (!!) Stunden Wartezeit ( trotz Tischvorbestellung). Und das auch erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen. Das ist nicht akzeptabel, andere Tische ( Stammkunden?) wurden zum Teil schneller bedient.

Das Essen ist lecker und der Service ist aufmerksam und freundlich. Leider ist es sehr laut im Restaurant wenn es gut voll ist. Trotzdem kommen wir immer wieder gerne zum Essen hin.

Wir hatten nicht reserviert und bekamen direkt einen Tisch für 6 Personen. Ist schön angerichtet, alles sehr sauber. Es war nicht sehr voll und das Personal war doch etwas hektisch. Es wurde bei den Bestellungen leider hier was vergessen, dort kam es zu spät ... Für die Preise dann leider nicht gerechtfertigt. Wir mussten öfter nachfragen um das bestellte zu erhalten. Das Essen an sich gut aber die Portionen keine 30€ Wert pro Person. Der Reis war leider kalt und das Hähnchen zu lang gegart, trocken. Vorspeisensalat kam auch erst nach dem Hauptgang, Nachtisch wurden wir gar nicht gefragt. Also, für 200€ schon besser gegessen und günstiger. Service müsste etwas "glatter" laufen.

Beautiful restaurant with picture-perfect scenery surrounding it. The food is home-cooked, and you can taste it. Everything is fresh, and piping hot when it comes to you. The staff is always on the go because the restaurant stays busy, which is a good sign.
