Good atmosphere in half-timbered house

Great shop, very, very friendly staff. I feel like a valued guest here. I'd gladly come again.

After our visit to Café Möpken, I have to say I found the way (new) guests were treated quite appalling. After calling ahead to inquire whether a table for two was available around 5:30 pm, I was told, "We can manage that. There are plenty of free tables." Arriving 20 minutes later, I found almost all the tables outside to be empty, yet we were assigned a small, rickety table in the furthest corner. I repeatedly asked if we could have one of the other tables and explained that we only wanted to grab a quick bite. The waitress responded to my request with utter rudeness and showed no interest in accommodating us in any way. After standing somewhat aimlessly in front of the empty tables for a minute, a man (apparently the owner) approached us and declared in a very unfriendly tone that we should either take the table assigned to us or the table by the entrance! We then took the table by the entrance. The food itself was ultimately acceptable. When we went to pay and I pointed out our Citti for Two voucher, the waitress reacted incredibly rudely and said that we should have mentioned the voucher when we made the reservation. Just so you know: I did mention it when I made the reservation by phone. Twice, the waitress, visibly annoyed, went to the owner with our explanation. He then suddenly appeared at our table and claimed that I hadn't mentioned the voucher and that, for accounting reasons, he couldn't change the receipt and that we should pay the full amount. Later, I learned from a friend in the restaurant industry that it happens quite often that receipts need to be changed, for example, due to accounting errors. He stuck to his story and, as some reviews here have so nicely pointed out, referred to the Citti for Two rules. I've been using the voucher for years and have honestly never experienced anything like this. The owner's tone was so incredibly unfriendly that even other guests shook their heads in disbelief. Anyone reading other reviews here will surely notice that citti for two users were frequently dismissed in this or a similar manner. But the owner knows how to deflect criticism from other guests with various, seemingly pleasant-sounding statements. His unfriendly manner, which he dismisses as "open to interpretation," has been mentioned frequently. It's a shame that this otherwise lovely day ended with such a bitter aftertaste of rudeness. Incidentally, there were still several tables free when we left.

I'm from Cologne, so I'm not there regularly. But I've been there twice already, and I'll definitely be back on my next visit in May 2026. It's beautifully decorated, especially at the bar and especially on the first floor. Super cozy. The staff is always extremely friendly and quick. They're happy to help if you're undecided. The food (so far, a superb burger and a special pasta dish) has been absolutely top-notch. Definitely worth a visit. Reservations are recommended on weekends. I'm looking forward to the next time.

There's also a weekly menu that changes seasonally. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. As a group of five, we all received our dishes at the same time 👌🏻

We were at Möpken yesterday and were completely satisfied! Cozy atmosphere inside and out – perfect for relaxing and feeling good. Accompanying the cold fruit spritzer was a delicious burger – with or without cheese – fries, and a small salad on the plate, all fresh and prepared with love. It tasted simply delicious and the portions were generous. The dish was from the weekly menu. Shoutouts also to the hard-working kitchen staff. It was busy and the food came quickly. A cappuccino to round off the meal. Totally reasonable value for money and very good quality. Shoutouts to the very dedicated and friendly service team – always smiling and with a sense of humor. A little tip – be sure to call ahead and reserve early – it's very popular :-)

Really great food. I had a medium steak, which was really tasty. My girlfriend had a chicken salad, which was also excellent. Highly recommended. The tiramisu for dessert was also amazing. For two people, including drinks, food, and dessert, it was just under €100.

Unfortunately, this time the food was catastrophically bad, the medallions were totally dry, and the taste was very questionable/probably “superimposed”. The complaint was not taken seriously despite the almost full portions being returned and only being tried. On the contrary, after consulting the “chef” it was claimed that the meat was top and the cooking point was medium. It was “accommodating” that we only offered to charge for one of the two dishes. Was rejected by me - there was no need for alms, nor was it my wish. It would have been better to take the complaint seriously. You couldn't do it any worse. Too bad - customer/guest lost

I lived in Schildesche for a few years and always saw Möpken as a very good address, but I never went there. This has now been made up for 25 years later. The ambience is very nice, that's how I imagined it. Rustic but not as dark and oppressive as e.g. B. in the Plain Court. The weekly menu did not correspond 100% to the homepage version, so you look forward to the Kasseler and instead there is beef roulade. The selection overall is large enough. For EUR 21.50 a veal schnitzel, I consider that to be cheap and it is precisely this fact that should have stopped me in my tracks. Because a pre-breaded convenience schnitzel arrived quite quickly. It was tasty, but I expected more. The pike perch fillet with ratatouille was good. Only 2 desserts on the menu and both were beautifully presented and tasty too. What remains more memorable than the food is the beautiful ambience, the friendly service and the moderate prices.

Reservations at peak times would make sense as it is very busy and not that big. We were still lucky and got a place without a reservation. Staff very friendly, the food (burgers and pasta) very tasty and large portions. Drink prices were ok too. All in all, very happy again 👍🏼

Very cozy, rustic restaurant. Very nice and attentive employees. Food very tasty 😋. We were there for the second time. The summer before last we ate outside and this time we ate indoors upstairs. We ate some of the seasonal menu and can highly recommend the Nuremberg Rostbratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, as well as the Leberkäs burger.

It is located in the old town center of Schildesche the “rustic-chic” restaurant. Delicious hamburger combinations, pasta, schnitzel and spritz drinks. Very precise, fun and professional service. Overall a great dinner experience at a fair price.

Just a shame!!! Our first eviction from a restaurant. When we ordered drinks at 9.30 p.m. we were informed that it would close at 10 p.m. At 9:55 p.m. we were asked (not particularly friendly and extremely inhospitable) to get up and leave the restaurant. We have actually enjoyed visiting the Möpken so far. Today we invited friends over and found it extremely embarrassing. Our neighboring tables were also very irritated and not very enthusiastic. The opening times are Saturdays until 11 p.m.!! Otherwise we would probably have chosen another restaurant straight away. The fact that drink orders were forgotten is only mentioned in passing. The lanterns on the tables would have been happy with a tea light. Wasn't available even when asked.

Pleasant atmosphere in the half-timbered house. From the weekly menu the Sweet Cheeseburger and the Mediterranean classic Pasta Toscana and from the Westphalian classic the Westphalian semolina pudding are highly recommended. The service is very attentive and very friendly. Highly Recommended!

Great food in a very nice atmosphere! Highly Recommended. There are restaurants with a longer menu than here, but for me it's not about having a huge selection, I want to have a meal that I like and that was clearly the case here. I had the Argentinian pepper steak and I wanted it English/bloody, that didn't work 100%, but that's also a matter of opinion. What was more important was that the piece of meat itself was a really good piece, just as I enjoy it. The side dishes were very tasty and the plate was beautifully presented. Fine! The drinks menu offers lots of really tasty things. The atmosphere and furnishings are exactly my taste. I sat upstairs and spent the evening there in a somewhat clocky, very cozy atmosphere. Despite the many guests, it wasn't annoyingly loud for us, so everything was fine. The service was competent and attentive and left nothing to be desired - but we didn't have anything unusual either. Would I come again? Definitely yes! Thank you very much to the Möpken!

A very nice restaurant, the service was great, very attentive, quick and friendly. Price, performance, quality of the food was very good. The portions are quite large. The steak was fantastic, the burger patty wasn't 100% to our personal taste. There were two of us there on a Friday evening, there were mostly groups there, which made it a little louder. All in all, had a great evening, definitely worth a visit.

Great atmosphere, very nice reception. However, taking the order was already bumpy. Banal extra requests like swapping potatoes for fries have already become an insoluble problem. Half raw fries were delivered after a complaint. Of course without the mayo ordered but calculated. Extremely salty kale! (That's according to the service, kale has to be so salty). We also received fried schnitzels and tasteless side salads. Overall, the service was very unfriendly and unaccommodating. It's a shame...we consciously decided to go to a local restaurant.

As a guest at a funeral, it's just underground. Rolls were only half filled and cakes were cut into ridiculously small pieces. Maybe fewer people were expected, but the owner's behavior was really unpleasant and inappropriate! I felt very very sorry for the widow and family

Charmantes altes bauernhaus mit nettem flair das Fssen hier kann sich sehen lassen bon nudeln über burger schnitzel und nach saison auch grünkohl. Hier kommt jeder auf seinen Geschmack das Angebot der Speisekarte wird ergänzt durch exzellenten Service der ein großes Repertoire an getränken emsig und auf unaufdringliche Weise, gleich einer Amseisenstraße in zügigem Tempo zum Tisch bringt. Alles in allem ein sehr schönes lokal im Herzens Schildesches das auch zum verweilen nach einem Spaziergang am nahe gelegenem Obernsee einlädt.

Was soll man sagen: Bedienung waren super freundlich, zuvorkommend und nett!! Essen lecker, Portionsgröße vom Salat: Für den kleinen Hunger, überschaubar und ein Panzanella Salat sollte, wenn so angeboten wird, wenigstens auch Brot beinhalten, nicht nur Croutons. Öffnungszeiten lt Website und Facebook wochentags bis 23 Uhr. Wir wurden freundlich um 21:40 gebeten zu gehen!! Wir sind gegangen, werden aber sicher nicht mehr wiederkommen, schade....

Nach unserem heutigen Besuch im Café Möpken muss ich sagen, dass ich die Art und Weise, wie mit (neuen) Gästen umgegangen wird, sehr erschreckend fand. Nach vorheriger telefonischer Anfrage, ob gegen 17.30 noch ein Tisch für zwei Personen frei ist, erhielt ich die Antwort; „Das bekommen wir hin. Es ist noch viel frei.“ Dort 20 Minuten später angekommen waren draußen tatsächlich noch fast alle Tische frei, trotzdem wurde uns ein kleiner, wackeliger Tisch in der letzten hintersten Ecke zugeordnet. Mehrmals frage ich, ob wir nicht einen der anderen Tische haben könnten und erklärte zudem, dass wir nur kurz etwas essen möchten. Die Kellnerin reagierte auf meine Bitte absolut unfreundlich und zeigte kein Interesse daran, uns irgendwie entgegenzukommen. Nachdem wir dann eine Minute etwas planlos vor den leeren Tischen standen, kam ein Herr (anscheinend der Inhaber) zu uns und erklärte in einem sehr unfreundlichen Ton, dass wir entweder den uns zugeordneten Tisch oder den Tisch vor der Eingangstür nehmen sollen!!! Wir nahmen dann den Tisch vor der Eingangstür. Das Essen war letztendlich soweit in Ordnung. Als wir dann bezahlen wollten und ich auf unseren Citti for two Block verwies, reagierte die Kellnerin dermaßen unfreundlich und sagte, dass wir schon bei Reservierung auf den Block hätten hinweisen müssten. Kurze Info: dies habe ich bei telefonischer Reservierung auch getan. Zweimal ging die Kellnerin dann sichtlich genervt mit unserer Erklärung zum Inhaber, welcher dann kurzerhand vor unseren Tisch stand und behauptete, ich hätte den Block nicht erwähnt und er könne den Bon nun aus abrechnungstechnischen Gründen nicht mehr ändern und wir sollten nun die Summe bezahlen. Später erfuhr ich von einer Freundin aus der gastro, dass es immer wieder dazu kommt, dass Belege geändert werden müssen wie z.b. aufgrund von Fehlbuchungen. Er blieb bei seiner Aussage und verwies, wie es hier so schön in einigen Bewertungen erwähnt wird, auf die Regeln von citti for two. Dabei nutze ich den Block schon seit Jahren und habe wirklich noch nie sowas erlebt. Der Ton des Inhabers war so dermaßen unfreundlich, dass selbst andere Gäste mit dem Kopf schüttelten. Wer hier andere Bewertungen liest wird sicher feststellen, dass citti for two Nutzer häufig auf diese oder ähnliche Art und Weise abgewimmelt wurden. Aber der Inhaber weiß sich ja mit diversen, schön klingenden Aussagen zu der Kritik anderer Gäste zu helfen. So wurde hier schon häufig seine unfreundliche Art erwähnt, welche er unter anderen als „frei interpretierbar“ abstempelt. Schade, dass dieser schöne Tag mit so einem faden Beigeschmack an Unfreundlichkeit endete. Übrigens; als wir gingen waren immer noch einige Tische frei.

Das Essen war nicht gut. Bratkartoffekln waren nicht durch und kalt. Steak war nicht medium und sehr sehnig... Die Kellnerin war aber super !

Wir waren heute zu Dritt im Möpken essen, der Service war sehr gut, ebenfalls das Essen. Leider wurde im Obergeschoss nicht geheizt und wir haben gefroren. Habe mir deshalb einen Tee bestellt. Ansonsten hat mir der Besuch im Möpken sehr gefallen.

Das Essen war nicht schlecht, aber für den Preis sollte auch ein kleiner Salat dazu gehören. Bedienung super schnell und sehr nett.

Statt einer Begrüßung, motzte uns der Chef beim Betreten des Lokals durch die Hintertür gleich an, dass wir nicht den Haupteingang benutzt haben. Tipp: Ein Schild an die Tür: Bitte Haupteingang benutzen" und die Tür verschließen. Hätte ich nicht einen Tisch für mehrere reserviert, hätte ich das Lokal umgehend verlassen. Die Bedienung war hingegen sehr nett. Befremdlich fand ich die Kombination Burger mit Rosmarinkartoffeln. Mein Gemüse zu den Schweinefilets bestand ausschließlich aus Zucchini und EINER verirrten Möhrenscheibe. Wenig überzeugend. Schade

Lieber Herr Seip, was für ein gemütlicher und schöner Ort um unser Familien-Weihnachtsessen zu platzieren! Sehr vorausschauend haben wir bereits im Vorfeld die Vorspeisen besprochen, welche dann bereits eingedeckt waren! Ein richtig toller Service durch Ihre aufmerksame, freundliche, achtsame und beratende Mitarbeitende hat uns durch den Abend geführt. Und treffsicher jeden individuellen Wunsch erfüllt. Wir hatten einen fantastischen Abend. Vielen Dank wir werden uns wieder sehen. Grüße aus Bielefeld, Jöllenbeck, Kitzingen und Haßfurt!

Unser Besuch im Möpken Ende des Jahres 2022 hat uns sehr gefallen, es hat allen sehr gut geschmeckt, zudem bietet das Lokal in einem Fachwerkhaus mitten in Schildesche in zwei Etagen sehr gemütliche Plätze und Atmosphäre. Die vegtarischen Gerichte sind ebenfalls zu empfehlen, z.B. den Burger. Wenn ich mal wieder Bielefeld besuche, kommen wir gerne wieder!

Das Essen wahr anders lecker, aber es war ein wenig kühl im Raum.

Food quality was disappointing , overcooked Kalbsschnitzel, and Tiramisu didn’t taste selfmade. Wine recommendation was simply a reiteration of what the card had to offer. Otherwise fast attentive service

Hier war es sehr schön. Das Essen hat eine gute Qualität, der Service ist sehr höflich und das Ambiente passt zum historischen Gebäude. Hier würde ein qualitativ hochwertiges Bier das Konzept noch abrunden, denn private Brauer gibt's in der Nachbarschaft genug.

Wir haben am 24.08.22 dort meinen Geburtstag gefeiert. Eine außerordentlich gute, aufmerksame Bedienung, hervorragend zubereitete Speisen, gepflegte Getränke. Und das obwohl der Biergarten bis auf den letzten Platz besetzt war. Ein Dankeschön für den wunderbaren Abend

Das Drei-Ständer-Fachwerkhaus aus dem Jahr 1747 liegt im Herzen des Bielefelder Stadtteils Schildesche. Ein gemütlicher Biergarten vor dem Restaurant lädt zum Verweilen ein. Die Karte bietet regionale Küche mit marktfrischem Gemüse. Unsere Gerichte waren sehr lecker und ansprechend angerichtet.

Hatte vor 3 Jahren mal 5 Sterne gegeben, aber musste die Rezension löschen. Denn das Möpken hat leider arg nachgelassen. Das Essen ist immer noch ganz gut (nicht überragend, aber eben ganz gut). Das Gemüse zum Schnitzel waren ausschließlich Pilze, naja. Lachs war aber gut. Der Service hatte bei uns leider einer extrem schlechten Tag. Ich fragte den Mitarbeiter (Mann mittleren Alters), ob es einen Fahrradständer gäbe, die Antwort war nein. Daraufhin fragte ich, ob er eine Möglichkeit wüsste, wo ich in der Nähe das Rad abstellen könnte. Seine Antwort war, „Nein, aber auf jeden Fall nicht hier im Eingangsbereich“. Dazu eine Unfreundlichkeit, die seines Gleichen sucht. Da fragt man sich wirklich, ob Gastronomen Gastfreundlichkeit einfach keinen Spaß macht. Wirklich schade. Update: Antwort hab ich gelesen. Find ich gut, komme wieder und lass mich gerne erneut überzeugen👍🏼

Schönes Restaurant mit tollem Ambiente und freundlichen Mitarbeitenden. Das Essen war aber enttäuschend. Ich hatte Pasta Spargel. Das war recht ausdruckslos und geschmacksneutral. Wir wollten darüber hinaus das Gutscheinheft Cityfortwo nutzen, was an einem Sonntag regulär möglich ist. Man klärte uns dann darüber auf, dass gestern nicht nur Sonntag sondern Muttertag und damit Feiertag wäre. Wir wussten bis jetzt noch nicht das Muttertag auch ein gesetzlicher Feiertag ist.

Super Ambiete. Altes Fachwerkhaus. Bei der Beerdigungsfeier hat alles geklappt. Hat bloß keinen Schnaps angeboten. Deshalb 4 Sterne.

Ich war in diesem Monat dort und es gab hinsichtlich meines Impfstatus Unstimmigkeiten. Nach einigen Diskussionen wurde beim Chef angerufen und ich durfte bleiben. Ausnahmsweise. Ich habe am nächsten Tag nochmals mich beim Gesundheitsamt und auch mit der Apotheke in Verbindung gesetzt, da es ja zum Teil für alle schwierig ist . Ich wollte das nochmals besprechen, durfte aber nicht aussprechen. Schade es scheinen alle Restaurants in Bielefeld es falsch gemacht haben und auch das Lichtwerk, komisch. Ok, schade. Das Essen war ok, die Beleuchtung eine Katastrophe. Ich als Schildescherin fand es enttäuschend. Aber toi toi toi
