Restaurant Kostbar in Bad Saulgau

A wonderful restaurant right on Saulgau's market square. Great food and a lovely, modern ambiance. There's always something to see here. Anyone in Saulgau should definitely pay a visit to Kostbar.

The food was delicious. Service was abysmal. Despite our empty glasses, we weren't offered anything new to drink and waited about 10-15 minutes for a change.

We were just served by a "very nice" (sarcasm) short-haired blonde lady. Part of our order was forgotten, and the rest was brought to the table with a racist remark. We were brought extra sugar with the comment, "You southerners eat so much sweet stuff." As I was walking out, I thanked them for not bringing my coffee, and the cheeky reply was, "You could get in touch." First and last time. Impossibly not to recommend it.

Very tasty and friendly service.

We ordered turkey curry with vegetables and rice twice. The vegetables weren't even included; the curry must have been forgotten during cooking. The meat was either overheated or overcooked. Absolutely no flavor. We haven't had such a bad meal in a long time. Normally, the chef would have had to be forced to clean the plates himself! The two servers, however, were very friendly and accommodating, which is why I tipped them.

Modern restaurant with delicious food and very friendly staff. We were there last night and, as always, we really enjoyed it. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it wasn't a problem at all to change tables during the evening, as we moved from inside to outside. My wife had a Kosbarsalat (traditional salad) and I had a Wurstsalat (sausage salad). Both were incredibly delicious. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Reserved a table by the window for 9 a.m. tomorrow, which was then taken without any apology. The owner then said... yeah, it doesn't matter... The sausage salad I ordered took 45 minutes. Conclusion: Arrogant place... never again...

The Kostbar restaurant in Bad Saulgau is really worth a visit. It is very centrally located, so you can easily reach it spontaneously. The turkey ragout from the leg was really tasty – tender and tastefully prepared. The soup arrived at the table very hot, so it was best to let it cool down a bit before ladling on. Overall, the quality of the food was really convincing. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere round off the experience. Highly recommended!

Tried to reserve a table on the phone for a business meeting two days later. To my introduction during the phone call and the question: whether I could reserve a table for three people on Friday afternoon, the answer was, no! No, I'm sorry, all tables are occupied at this point or we generally don't do that on Friday afternoons. That would have all been okay. But the only answer was no! That's too pretentious and too arrogant for me! It's also done for the future!!!

Bisher war ich treue Kundin der Kostbar, u. a. wegen ihrer sehr leckeren Salatsoße. Leider war es die letzten 5 Mal immer so, dass ich Salat ohne Paprika bestelle, weil ich eine ausgeprägte Unverträglichkeit habe und bekomme Salat mit Paprika. Mal mehr, mal weniger.. mal ließ ich das Essen zurückgehen (und die Paprika wurde in der Küche kurz rausgelesen..), manchmal habe ich es erst im Mund gemerkt, als es schon zu spät war. Leider hilft mir in einer solchen Situation auch kein Kaffee aufs Haus als "Entschuldigung", weil das bei akuten Bauchschmerzen die Situation nur verschlimmert. Leider auch keinerlei Preisnachlass. Für jemand, der wirklich Allergene hat, kann ich die Kostbar nicht empfehlen und wir kommen auch (trotz all den Jahren der Treue) nicht wieder. Bauchschmerzen kann ich auch wo anders für weniger Geld bekommen. Schade.

War schon das 2x innerhalb 8 Tagen zum Mittagessen dort. Kleine aber feine Tageskarte für jeden was dabei. Das Essen war hervorragend und zu einem Mega fairen Preis. Die Bedienung ist schnell & sehr höflich. ….wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder 👌

Highly recommended. We were in Bad Saulgau over the weekend and discovered this gem. The service was really particularly warm and attentive, the food was very tasty. The side salad was so much more than what you are used to and would have expected. Now I'm not surprised why almost everyone ordered a large salad plate. We came because of the large vegetarian selection and can also recommend pasta and spaetzle.

I come once every two months and I have been doing it for a few years and I always order my favorite food, shrimp in sauce, it is a very delicate dish and they do it very well, always good service and atmosphere.

Breakfast is still a great offering and value for money, as a hot drink is included. No pushy service, nice atmosphere.

This is the sort of place you go for a drink with your pals, not for the food which is simply sufficient not memorable. Liked the atmosphere and drinks a lot more than the dining experience. Would recommend in that order.

Super nice from the outside and inside, but unfortunately not able to make a delicious cappuccino with a portafilter... For the price I expect that you can do that. If 5 out of 5 times it is way too hot and has endless foam, I unfortunately have to look elsewhere. Service ok, not friendly but not unfriendly either.

Very nice place price but high and coffee unfortunately not that good. I think the brewing temperature is too high, so the coffee tastes bitter.

Price performance was very bad. Potatoes weren't really made up of vegetables. They were bland and the breaded turkey meat was extremely dry and way too heavily seasoned and the sauce tasted like ready-made sauce and you're sitting on a presentation plate and the people walking past outside are staring at you on the plate

It was nice, the welcome wasn't very friendly but the coffee and breakfast were good. The constant clearing of the table while we were eating was very irritating. Just very expensive for what it was.

We were there for breakfast. And with a big breakfast I expect fresh rolls. Unfortunately there were no rolls. When I asked if I would get a croissant, this was only given for an additional charge. For me, breakfast is too expensive for little service.

We had lunch here and the food was delicious. We had sweet potato soup, Maultaschen in onion beer sauce with carrot salad and cheese spaetzle with a small salad. I'm not a big fan of Maultaschen, but I thought I'd try them anyway. They were delicious! Well filled and the filling is nice and light. Not a solid mass like you often get. The onion beer sauce was perfect. The cheese spaetzle was creamy and a spicy cheese was used. The sweet potato soup tasted strongly of pumpkin, curry and ginger. I asked the waitress about it and she assured me it was sweet potato but said she hadn't tried it herself. So technically she could only assume it was sweet potato. Either way the soup was good, I was just expecting sweet potato. The food was beautifully presented and the portions were perfect. The atmosphere is nice, the prices are great and the staff was friendly. This is a nice place to eat.

Very tasty food, also as a cheap but very tasty lunch. But also very comfortable as an evening program. Addendum: I've now also tried the breakfast there - also delicious and recommended, although not quite as special as the other menu.

It's already part of our ritual: breakfast in the precious bar. Because it's just super good. Interior very tasteful. We always found the waitresses to be friendly, the food was high quality and very tasty, and the prices were reasonable. The locals go in regularly, so it's often full (which speaks for how expensive it is). Update six years later: Still the first port of call in BS. Chilled café with style. Chilled boss. Being here means having a vacation.

Sehr schönes Ambiente. Sehr, sehr freundliche Bedienung. Portionen außerordentlich schmackhaft und reichlich. Dekoration schön, aber nicht zu viel. Rundum eine Empfehlung. Seltsam jedoch die Toilettenauswahl. Am Eingang zur Toilette ein großes Männermodell und ein Frauenmodell an der Türe. Also, wo geht man als Mann hinein, natürlich dort wo das Männermodell zu sehen ist....Falsch!!! Dort ist die Frauentoilette. Finde ich verwirrend und etwas delikat, wenn man darauf hingewiesen wird, dass man auf der falschen Toilette war. Eigentlich ein NOGO und echt dämlich.

Hello, The concept of presenting German cuisine with Chinese cuisine on the menu, unusual and it tastes exactly the same, read one or the other out, it doesn't fit. Greetings to everyone

I was there today and wasn't happy at all. The waiters are not friendly at all and since they are always old people our orders came quite late and the waiters were chatting among themselves, that's not nice at all, I don't recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful place to eat, nice beer garden. Salad Precious very tasty and a lot. Could also be a bit smaller. Even though I was hungry, I couldn't finish it. But the hammer came at the end: I wanted to pay with a credit card. However, this is only possible for amounts >€25. My bill was €21.25. I was recommended to have something to drink or…?? I chose the “or”. Have 25 debited and tip the difference. Feel free to tip. But not if I have to. I left disappointed.

As a starter I had the fish soup in which there were squid rings and closed mussels, as well as the hard stalks of broccoli As a main course, the salmon in a banana leaf with cold Mie noodles, also the separated stalks of broccoli and other vegetables. Plus the fried and chopped lemongrass, which constantly scratched my mouth and throat when chewing. Seasoned with lots of salt and a generous portion of soy sauce, which is also salty. My wife had the gratinated asparagus soul on which the black aromatics from the oven were very visible. The 2 asparagus were cut lengthwise and the cheese hadn't even seen the oven. Our youngest wanted the fish fingers with mashed potatoes from the children's menu. Unfortunately, the chef covered the whole thing with a nasty-tasting brown sauce. Dear chef, at least write it on the menu that the fish fingers are covered with something brown, then you could cancel it and please get the lemongrass out again to add flavor before serving it to the guest. Please also leave the uncooked broccoli stalks out of the food, as they are difficult to chew raw. But no matter.....all that soy sauce flooded everything anyway The service and the ambience, however, were excellent.

A little more expensive and unfortunately the selection of cakes was not in the fridge and there was no protection against it. Anyone could touch them. But otherwise it was very good

Went here for lunch and weren't disappointed. Had the daily menu and bruscetta and were completely satisfied. Apart from a few little things, this restaurant can be highly recommended. Be careful when going to the toilet. Hi hi. The gentlemen have a woman on the door and the ladies have a man. Almost always confused.

Cool location, very cozy. Very, very friendly service staff! Food really really tasty. My wife had the salmon fillet and I had the sauerbraten - both were excellent. What I like is the sometimes unusual combination of the dishes, a bit fusion, veggie and conservative. But everything tastes very round and tasty.

Every now and then I meet up with friends at the Kostbar for dinner. Sometimes for breakfast, sometimes for dinner. So far the food has always been great, and the service is also great. Again any time! :-)

The location "Kostbar" is easily accessible in Bad Saulgau, right on the market square. There is an extensive, affordable breakfast. A daily changing lunch menu and good food in the evening. The service is attentive and present.

Today we sat for a hot chocolate and a cappuccino. The service from the old lady with the glasses was awful. Not only she didn't see us for 15 minutes at least but also she didn't gave out change back. I thought that she was coming back but she took the money and she never returned our change. When I asked her, she said that she thought that it was a tip and she left.... unbelievable... I have worked in restaurants and cafes so many years and I have never see anyone to do that...

Had a place upstairs. Staff friendly and accommodating. I ordered a dessert without alcohol. Unfortunately there was a mixup. But the friendly service staff managed to replace the incorrectly delivered dessert. Simply professional. No ifs and buts. Food was very tasty and we got the food at the same time. Gladly again

Centrally located hotel. Clean rooms, attentive and very friendly staff. However, the rooms are far too small for a longer stay! Above all, a wardrobe and comfortable seating are missing! But highly recommended for a short stay! Breakfast for just under €20 is a bit expensive but very good and filling for “good breakfast eaters”! Parking available, directly opposite a large public car park, €5 - 24 hours.

The food is excellent. The service is friendly and always tries to fulfill the guest's wishes. The ambience is nice and simply designed. The toilets take some getting used to, as the choice of pictorial description for females and males is opposite.

Well, in and of itself a cafe with an attractive flair and a great ambience. But outside Wow and especially inside in the toilets, ugh. Don't know why you have to wallpaper something like that with naked people!? Is that actually the only thing you have to think about people!? Wonder if the operator doesn't care about losing customers who have a sense of human values???

A beautifully coordinated interior, a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food await you in the Kostbar. The service is always extremely competent and hospitable. The food tastes excellent and my personal highlight is the daily changing selection of delicious cakes and tarts. If we want to spend a special evening in a relaxed atmosphere where everything is guaranteed to taste good, we go to the Kostbar in Bad Saulgau.

I was there for breakfast with a friend, the restaurant was very busy, I think a reservation is recommended. Friendly staff and dogs are welcome 😍
