Restaurant & Kochschule Maharani in Hamm

Wir waren das erstmal im Maharani. Wir sind schon oft daran vorbei gegangen und diesmal haben wir es geschafft auch dort einzugehen. Der Service war freundlich und bemüht. Wir bestellten die gemischte Vorspeise zum Preis von 10€ pro Person. Als die Vorspeise serviert wurde war ich etwas irritiert. Auf dem Teller waren fünf Häufchen verschiedener Beilagen von der Größe eines Esslöffels angerichtet, mittig lag ein luftiges Linsenbrötchen. Die Hauptspeisen waren lecker und entsprachen der Angaben der Speisekarte. Die Vorspeise finde ich jedoch überteuert. Wir würden nochmal wiederkommen, allerdings würden wir diese Vorspeise nicht mehr bestellen.

Unfortunately no authentic Indian cuisine. My husband's spicy red curry was very mild. Anyone who is familiar with Indian cuisine will not enjoy it here. The service was very good and courteous. But the food was disappointing. Indian cuisine is nil. The typical Indian spices are missing. Unfortunately, I have to say that my husband's homemade chicken tandorii tastes worlds better. I don't have to go to a restaurant for this.

Very nice restaurant close to the city and within walking distance of the train station. The food was very tasty, and in my opinion a small, slimmed-down menu is also a sign that the quality is right. Unfortunately, the staff was not well coordinated and was still relatively inexperienced. Nevertheless, very hard-working and friendly! Great, authentic Indian food. Gladly again!

Within the first 5 minutes at the table, a waitress came to the table no less than 6 times and asked whether we would like to order. Since we had the impression that it would otherwise be a very short evening, we just wanted to order the appetizers first. We were then told that it would take, quote: "extremely long" if we didn't order the entire meal straight away, otherwise we would slide "to the back of the queue"... So I ordered everything and ended the evening after just over an hour. We also ordered carbonated water and instead received a bottle of tap water for €6. Can you do... We drove an hour from Münster and wanted to have a special evening with Indian food that was different from the usual. Clearly it didn't work. Apart from the fact that the rooms are not particularly comfortable, the staff was very friendly and the food was really good. But for a really nice evening you need more than just being known on private channels. Too bad!

A matter of taste. For us it was too sweet and quite unseasoned. It was very expensive for the quality. But the service was super nice. Unfortunately we couldn't pay a tip with the card. Too bad for the staff.

Auf Grund der kleinen Karte, des TV-Kochs sowie der schon gehobenen Preise, habe ich mir sehr viel von dem Essen versprochen. Leider konnten meine Erwartungen nicht erfüllt werden. Meine Begleitung und ich hatten beide ein Gericht mit Hühnchen. Mein Chicken Tandoori Masala (24 h eingelegtes Hühnchen) war leider überhaupt nicht zart, weshalb ich fast nur die Soße mit Brot gegessen habe. Gerade in einem indischen Restaurant freue ich mich über butterweiches Fleisch. Auch das Hühnchen bei meiner Begleitung war eher zäh. Die Soßen konnte man am Tisch selbst noch etwas würzen, jedoch wäre es schön, wenn man bei der Bestellung bereits die Wahl über den Schärfegrad hätte. Die Atmosphäre in dem Restaurant ist sehr angenehm und die Bedienungen sind nett (teilweise etwas unaufmerksam). Ich bzw. wir würden das Restaurant leider nicht mehr besuchen. Es gibt weitaus bessere indische Restaurants, bei denen dann auch noch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

Perfect ‼️ What a lovely evening it was yesterday. The restaurant deserves one star 🌟. We had the surprise menu and were completely satisfied with it. There was a small bread starter, a normal starter, a main course and a dessert. All together for under €40 and it was great quality. Unbeatably good. The chef surprised us every time. The quality of the food was very high quality and fresh. The service was super friendly and attentive. I can only recommend it to everyone and it is not comparable to other Indian restaurants that I have experienced so far. Definitely go, but reserve a table beforehand. 👌

We liked the atmosphere. The food was tasty, but not exceptional either. We took the surprise menu and were overall satisfied. However, I found the bedside table as a mousse au chocolat a bit inappropriate and too simple for an Indian. It wasn't clear to us what the greeting from the kitchen in a paper bag was supposed to convey. Content tasted good. We didn't like the service...unfortunately. Seemed awkward.

Essen hervorragend, Preise eher gehoben, Service zum Teil sehr gut, zum Teil ausbaufähig. Wir hatten jemanden dabei, der aufgrund von Allergien und Unverträglichkeiten sehr heikel in der Essenswahl war. Auf diese Person würde sehr gut eingegangen und so konnten alle ihr essen genießen. Leider gab es einige Pannen beim Service, da die junge Dame noch lernen mußte. Ich empfand es nicht schlimm ( deshalb volle Punktzahl), meine Begleitung schon. Gerne wieder 😁

We ate here at Maharani for the first time on August 17, 2024. This was our second time Indian. We were extremely disappointed the first time, so we had high expectations. We weren't disappointed. From start to finish everything was great! Service was friendly and quick, the host didn't miss the opportunity to say hello and wish you bon appetit. We ordered padam and parath bread, which was very authentically Indian and delicious. The main course was Butter Chicken and Chicken Tandori Masala. Both were super tasty, deliciously seasoned and intense, just as Indian cuisine should be. There's not much to say other than a delicious and top evening. Always my pleasure! Thank you 🤩

First of all: it wasn't my first time here. And due to long stays in India and a passionate fan of Indian cuisine, I know Indian dishes very well. Taste can be debated and that cannot be the subject of a review. Overall, the dishes are certainly tasty for most people and meet European tastes with light, oriental Indian additions. But if you are familiar with Indian cuisine, you will quickly notice that this is a fake dish. Firstly: Indian cuisine is extremely digestible and easy on the stomach. Both my wife and I had bloating all night long after eating. Secondly: the price of a meal must be in harmony with the ingredients chosen and the overall impression of the restaurant. The ingredients were consistently inexpensive. Chicken is the cheapest meat that can be processed in Germany. And there was only chicken as far as the eye could see. Both the vegetable and meat preparations were not certified organic. In addition, the wait staff were obviously grandchildren or daughters or school friends of the daughters, who do their best and are friendly, but are anything but trained restaurant professionals. Thirdly: if I order medium water, I don't want to have water on the table that comes from the Hammer water pipe and has been carbonated in the Soda Stream machine. And even a small pot of mousse au chocolat as a dessert is not necessarily an expression of creative Indian cuisine. All in all, the evening was okay, but I don't recommend this restaurant.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. The food is just super delicious, no matter what you take, really nice people, cute little shop. I can fully recommend it, we will definitely be back!

Come in and be greeted nicely… top prerequisite for a nice evening. Came to Hamm for dinner for the first time. Here you won't have learned any very tasty Indian cuisine or dishes (it feels and tastes super fresh). A big plus for that. In terms of ambience, the outside area could be made a little more comfortable and the young woman in service still needs a little help (but she was also a cautious one). We would have liked to tip, but that was only possible in cash and we only had the card with us. Conclusion: if you get hungry in Hamm, you should go to Maharani. Very good cuisine and not spicy either

Nice reception. Modern ambience for Indian cuisine, I actually imagined it to be more colorful but it's a matter of taste. Unfortunately, eating wasn't my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, the coconut and sweet potato soup was good, but it was lacking in spiciness. The bago bago was far too sweet and fruity, the chicken was nice and tender and well caramelized, unfortunately the vegetables got too much of the sweetness from the fruit and the delicious basmati rice alone tasted good, slightly sweet but the dish was already fruity in itself was sweet, it was too much for me. I'll still come back and try a menu in the other direction.

Great cinema. Without a reservation and with a dog, we stood in front of the door and were allowed in 😉 the dog got the drinking bowl first and we then received the greeting from the kitchen. Very nice, very tasty. Clear recommendation

Leider enttäuscht worden.. Ich verstehe den Hype und die positiven Bewertungen so nicht ganz.. Samstag Abend haben wir zu dritt das Lokal besucht. Das Lokal ist recht einfach gestaltet - wirkt eher ungemütlich und die Akustik hat leider auch etwas Flair einer kleineren Halle - die alten Teppiche auf dem Weg zum WC passen auch nicht zum Ambiente. Das Service-Personal bemüht und freundlich, hat jedoch extrem leise gesprochen, so dass bei der Akustik mein Sitznachbar schon nichts verstanden konnte. Haben mehrmals drauf hingewiesen, dass man nichts versteht - lauter hat die junge Dame trotzdem nicht gesprochen.. Getränke-Bestellung wurde leider auch vergessen und wir mussten darauf hinweisen..kann aber alles passieren.. Das Essen - hatten die Vorspeise für 3 Personen genommen - war eher enttäuschend.. 2 Stücke Currywurst, 3 weiße Bohnen, 3 klekse Rotkraut, rote Beete und Algensalat(?), und ein paar Kichererbsen.. Nur das frittierte Teigteilchen war ganz überraschend lecker. Zu dem Preis und für die winzige Portion sind 10€ eher sportlich - zumal die indische Küche mit ihren Gewürzen kaum repräsentiert worden sind. Die Hauptspeise - wir alle hatten das Chicken Tandoori Masalla - bestand aus einem Berg Hühnchen mit roter Soße, etwas Joghurt und 2 Kirschtomaten.. Die ganzen Gewürze und Zutaten wie in der Karte beschrieben waren nicht zu schmecken, nicht zu sehen..man konnte am Tisch zumindest mit Chili und Pfeffer nachwürzen.. Dem Gericht hätte etwas Gemüse gut getan - dann kann man die ausgewiesenen 400g Hühnchen auch reduzieren… Alles in allem war das Essen ok, aber sowas kann man auch zuhause selbst machen. Viel erwartet, leider den ganzen Bewertungen gar nicht gerecht geworden.. Eher lieblos und unkreativ… das geht besser..

Wunderbare indische Küche ohne Zusatzstoffe. Gemütliches, aber modernes Restaurant. Hätte ich in Hamm nicht erwartet. Die vegetarische Bago Bago Pfanne bescherte uns ein völlig neues Blumenkohlgeschmackserlebis.

All in all it was a lovely evening. The food was tasty, in sufficient quantities, but quite expensive for how easy it was to prepare. A warm beer with a little "flower" for 4 euros doesn't really make you thirsty for more. The service was very nice and tried hard, but the appearance (clothing) didn't fit the ambience at all. What pissed me off was that you can only read the detailed menu using the QR code on your cell phone, but interestingly the order is written down on a small piece of paper. Others may not care about this security gap for their own smartphone, but not my family. The source of danger should be urgently eliminated by placing three full replacement propane gas bottles in the guest room. If the trade inspectorate sees this, the shop is closed! All in all, recommended if the, in my opinion, justified criticism is accepted.

Because of the good rating here on Google and also based on recommendations from a culinary FB group, my husband and I also visited this restaurant. I know authentic Indian food very well because of my family. However, everyone there is vegetarian, so when I go out for Indian food, I also like to eat a dish with meat. The first thing that struck me as a negative for an "upscale" restaurant was that you could only read the QR code on the menu with your cell phone. I think a high-quality menu is much nicer. We were served by two nice service ladies, but they somehow didn't fit the atmosphere. As an ameuse geule there were small breads in a paper bag (why paper bag?). You could dip them in two dips. My husband and I ordered the Indian "tapas plate", with samosa, 3 small salads, curry sausage (we wondered - is that really Indian?) and thick white beans. Well, it didn't blow either of us away. We also ordered thin flat bread, which I already knew from my daughter-in-law. But they taste 100x better with her. I also missed the naan bread on the menu, there are so many delicious types! My husband then ordered squid with caramel sauce and I ordered cinnamon chicken. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed with the dishes. One tube of squid was quite hard and you couldn't taste much of the caramel sauce. I personally couldn't taste any of the cinnamon. Everything was swimming in so much sauce that the rice sank into it. The vegetables, however, were really crunchy and fresh, although I can't judge whether fennel is really Indian. Since my husband later said that some of the squid was very hard, we were given a piece of cheesecake as a small compensation and nice gesture. I was glad I hadn't ordered cheesecake beforehand. Because we didn't like it at all, we both found it dry and bland. We found the food too expensive for what we got. We wouldn't go all the way to Hamm to eat at Maharani.

The great times of the Maharani seem to be over. Although the food is still good, tasty and of good quality, people have now had their fill of the menu that has been the same for years. More change in the menu, and occasional culinary outliers would be good for the Maharani. Then, in my opinion, it could once again be a great hotspot for exotic cuisine. Overall, the service seems overwhelmed and disorganized. Even if one looks favorably on the still quite young and inexperienced (yet friendly) waiters, it is noticeable that there is a lack of trained specialists who can teach the young staff about quality, effectiveness and service. This way, among other things, you can avoid guests sitting in front of their empty plates for 30 minutes (the staff runs around empty-handed far too often), orders being written down incorrectly (no peppers means you don't want peppers in your food) and drink orders a long time coming. As I said, I look at the young staff with sufficient understanding and forbearance. There still needs to be a significant increase. Although the ambience is nice, the noise level and often the poor air quality spoil the atmosphere. A ventilation system might bring about a significant increase in air quality. All in all, I enjoy visiting the Maharani every few weeks. But I'm looking forward to hopefully future improvements.

Gute Läden kommen und gehen. Das Restaurant lebt noch vom guten Ruf, aber die Küche hat sich komplett geändert im Vergleich zu früher, als das Restaurant noch ein Highlight in Hamm war. Wer indische Küche kennt, und sei es aus original indischen Restaurants anderswo, wird enttäuscht. Tikka-Gerichte bestehen eigentlich aus lange in gewürztem Joghurt mariniertem Fleisch aus dem Feuerofen: hier war es heute (eher günstig eingekauftes aus Massentierhaltung stammendes) Hühnchen mit pürierter roter Tomaten/Paprikasoße übergossen. Der Paneer war wässrig. Da bleibt außer dem Namaste nichts wirklich indisch. Convenient Food, das manchen gut schmecken wird, cremig gegart, aber erwartet nichts Indisches. Reis für 3 Personen in einer kleinen Schale wurde nicht nach gereicht. Der ehemalige Koch Wahi hat sich in Mallorca niedergelassen, das haben wir erst später gelesen. Schön für Mallorca, enttäuschend für Hamm und Umgebung. Wer weiß, ob sich Menschen aus Indien, die es in Hamm ja gibt, hier wieder einfinden werden. Das Restaurant hat noch denselben Namen, aber schlicht eine andere Küche.

The food in the restaurant was great. There is a large selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. I particularly liked that the rice was served separately. :)

I chose this restaurant based on its very good reviews and I was not disappointed. Even after thinking hard, I can't think of anything to complain about. Reservation was easy and hassle-free, the food was really good, the service was absolutely top: attentive, efficient, but not intrusive. The Maharani is my first choice in Hamm - thank you.

A must do because it is without a doubt the best restaurant in Hamm! Excellent welcome with very fine meals and very quality products. Everything is done to ensure that the customer has a great time. A special thank you to the chef for spoiling us and thank you to the waiters for their availability and kindness. (There were 14 guests and the service was impeccable. Thank you again for your kindness and the care you provide to your customers.

Habe dies Restaurant geliebt, aber leider knüpft das Geschmackserlebnis nicht da an, wo der Vater aufgehört hat. Im Südring war es noch top. Jetzt hatte für mich ein Chicken Gericht für 22€ sah optisch gut aus, aber mit harter Paprika, harten Möhren und Schlangengurke nichts mehr mit dem früheren Essen zu tun. Sehr langweilig und nicht indisch. Viel zu teuer, Wein war auch nicht so toll. Der Vorspeisenteller war gut. Bedienung war freundlich. Werde aber wohl nicht nochmal gehen.

On January 28th Received a call at 11:50 am. High chair is defective. This means I can organize a new location at short notice for my birthday. Underground. Chair certainly didn't break on Sunday morning.

Appetizer plate: 91/100 Red Bombay:68/100 Butter chicken: 71/100 Service: 84/100 Ambience:73/100 Conclusion: Tasty but doesn't have the depth of flavor that I expect from authentic Indian cuisine, but I would still recommend it. Apple mint ginger spritzer is recommended!

Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Wir waren mit 12 Personen und alle sehr begeistert Der Service sehr nett und aufmerksam. Ein rundum gelungener Abend Auch für Veganer sehr zu empfehlen

Wir waren zu viert dort kurz vor Weihnachten. Hatten drei Vorspeisen und jeder eine Hauptspeise. Die Vorspeisen waren gut. Die Hauptspeisen leider nicht so. Für vier Personen haben wir eine kleine Schüssel Reis bekommen. Ich hatte extra angemerkt, dass ich das Gericht als Variante Mild benötige. Dann hatten alle milde Gerichte und mein Gericht hatte etwas Schärfe. Der Service war ok. Am Anfang wurden wir quasi vergessen. Leider sind wir mit zu hohen Erwartungen dahin gegangen. Für den Preis (knapp 150 EUR) hätte das Restaurant mehr bieten müssen. Deshalb 3/5.

Sehr leckeres Essen und gute Portionen. Leider ist der Service etwas überfordert aber das wird vielleicht noch. War sehr nett muss aber noch üben. Preislich eher etwas zu hoch angesetzt gerade bei Broten für 3 Euro die dann ein kleiner Pfannkuchen sind. Da müsste man nochmal am Preis arbeiten. Die Gerichte wie Tandoori chicken sind aber sehr gut. Werde wieder kommen. Großer Wintergarten und im Sommer Garten in Hinterhof. Parken gegenüber für möglich.

Köstliches Essen, freundliche Bedienung, immer gerne wieder

Eines der 3 besten Restaurants in Hamm. Hervorragende Qualität der Speisen super Geschmack. Immer einen Besuch wert. Der Kellner war noch ein bisschen unerfahren aber überaus freundlich.

Ich habe meine 5 Neffen (Alter 13-26) zu einem Kochkurs ins Maharani gebracht. Es war eine wunderbare Erfahrung. Chefkoch Alex Wahi hat eine ganz besondere Art jungen Leuten die indische Küche vorzustellen. Die Jungs (und ich) haben einfache Ideen zum nachkochen bekommen und wir hatten viel Spass. Das gemeinsame folgende Essen mit unserer Familie in gemuetlicher Atmosphäre im Maharani war ein toller Abschluss. Restaurant und Kochkurs erhalten von uns eine hohe Note und empfehlen wir weiter. Der Innenbereich des Restaurants ist modern und elegant eingerichtet. Naturstein, viel Holz und indirektes Licht sorgen im Maharani für ein stilvolles Ambiente. Wir waren gezielt angereist auf Grund vieler positiver Rezensionen. Wir wurden in keiner Weise enttäuscht. Es wurde ein wunderbarer Abend. Das fast fröhlich lachende Gesicht der Bedienung animiert zur Begeisterung. Das Essen war nicht überwürzt, es war eine schmackhafte exotische Interpretation der indischen Küche. Wir werden das Lokal auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen und mit Sicherheit wieder kommen. Zum Abschluss erhielten wir frische Limonen, eine sicher sehr freundliche Geste.

Online Tisch reserviern, Speisekarte per Scanner auf dem Handy, sehr gute Organisation von Service und Küche. Super: den tollen Hauscocktail gibt es mit und ohne Alkohol. Die Portionen sind sehr reichhaltig, drei Gänge sind fast nicht zu schaffen - aber für 1 Euro gibt es eine umweltfreundliche Verpackung, damit man die Reste mitnehmen kann! Der hintere Teil des Restaurants ist jetzt im Winter aber leider total schmucklos und steril...

Die Dame, die uns begrüßte, war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er bemerkte, dass ich auf Diät war und bot mir Lösungen an. Ich kann sagen, dass er ernsthaftes Interesse hat. Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Die Atmosphäre ist perfekt. Ich kann es auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

Mega - einfach richtig toll - so wünscht man sich den Service - mit Herzblut dabei, super nett, absolut hilfsbereit und dabei nie aufdringlich oder hektisch. Das Essen war total lecker und das Restaurant gemütlich und- obwohl jeder Tisch besetzt war - nicht laut oder unangenehm. Ein Besuch im Maharani ist immer wieder ein Highlight 💟

Wir gehen sehr gerne ins Maharani. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und das Essen ist jedesmal absolut top gewesen. Absolute Empfehlung, wenn man mal etwas besonderes oder neues probieren möchte!

Wir hatten eine Reservierung und wurden sehr nett begrüßt und erhielten direkt ein amüsgöl. Die Getränke waren in gefühlt einer Minute da👍 Das Tandori war sehr lecker und bestand ausschließlich aus Hühnerbrust (kenne ich leider von anderen Indern anders) Reis haben wir auf Anfrage sofort im Nachservice bekommen. Als Dessert hatte meine Frau eine Schoko Mousse die leider etwas grisselig war. (Tipp von Koch zu Koch,Sahne war zu steif) Aber der wirkliche Herzliche und nette Service reißt das wieder raus. Preis Leistung war super. Gerne wieder👍👍👍👍👍

Das Essen ist traumhaft. Alles frisch zubereitet und lecker 😋. Auch das mega freundliche Personal....was mich gestört hat, war die Lautstärke und es fehlte mir doch etwas Gemütlichkeit.

Gutes Essen, nicht billig, angemessene Preise. Jedoch sehr laut, dadurch nicht gemütlich.

Leider keine indische Küche. Viele unterschiedliche Gerichte in der Gruppe: zum Teil Qualitat in Ordnung aber bei allen: indisch ist das nicht. Leider eine Enttäuschung.

Das Essen war sehr gut, der Service ließ keine Wünsche offen. Angenehme Atmosphäre. Ein rundum gelungener Abend.

Es ist immer wieder eine Freude und gehört unbedingt zu unserem liebsten Restaurant

Toller Service, tolles Ambiente, überragendes Essen. Mehr muss man eigentlich nicht sagen. Es lohnt sich, weil das Ganze sehr stimmig ist. Ganz sicher nicht zum letzten Mal dort gegessen.

Das Essen in diesem Restaurant ist sein Geld absolut wert! Es war unfassbar lecker. Wir wurden echt gut beraten von einer sehr hübschen und freundlichen Bedienung! Hier hat einfach alles mehr als nur gestimmt! Auch wenn wir aus Thüringen kommen - wir kommen sicher mal wieder und würden es jedem sofort und ohne zu zögern empfehlen!

Eine Geschmacksexplosion - ohne zu scharf zu sein (und ich bin da empfindlich) - in gemütlichem Ambiente bei sehr gutem Service!

Weltklasse! Top Service! Freundliches und Aufmerksames Personal! Das Essen einfach köstlich und auch gute Portionen, hier wird man satt für kleines Geld. Der Chef steht selbst in der Küche. Es ist zu befürchten, dass wir wieder kommen 😉👍
