Before ordering we asked if we could pay by card, which we were told. When paying, it was said that card payments were only possible from €30. In a restaurant? After we specifically asked. I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable. Regardless, we got drinks once. No questions were asked again. Service is really different. But I found the card payment thing the worst. I had to borrow money from a friend.

You definitely have to have been there. Haven't enjoyed Italian cuisine so well in a long time.

Beautiful restaurant in a quiet location with charming checked tablecloths. 😊 beautiful outdoor area, friendly staff, great dishes - prepared with love and dedication. We were there in a large group and everything was served at the same time. As a little tip: if it is mentioned that there is fresh tuna on offer today - grab it straight away! For me, the best tuna steak I've ever eaten! I was in seventh heaven. But the menu also has so many great dishes to offer that it's really difficult to decide. Thanks and keep it up. 👍🏻 Edit: I visited Il Castello again and I just have to say: for me, the very best Italian ever. Short vacation in the middle of Merseburg, excellent quality and staff who simply make you feel comfortable. And I'll just say it again: the tuna is to die for. Another edit: I now love going there with all my friends because it's always the best choice for meeting friends. We love the ambience, the friendly and warm staff and the simply always excellent food. And after many, many visits, I can say: we have NEVER been disappointed. Nobody was ever unfriendly, everything always worked out wonderfully from the reservation to the invoice where everything was always correct, everything came on time and promptly and was always delicious.

I have no idea whether anyone here is Italian or not, but hospitable is something different. The food was ok, but it doesn't necessarily make us want to come back. I don't want to write more because the photos give a better impression than the taste.

Way too long waiting time despite few customers and plenty of attentive friendly waiters. Waited 1 hour for the food. Even after moving we had to wait. The food was weldone! Read about fried and boiled.

What I find to be a mess here is that people park on residents' footpaths so that you have to walk around the car or on the street. I live here myself and every evening the cars are simply parked where it's not allowed, the employees don't do anything or the company owner does anything.

Eating a small menu as an adult is impossible.

When we were finally able to order our drinks, I got a stale, non-carbonated cola. This was then exchanged for a fresh one after I went straight to the counter with the cola because again no one felt addressed. After 90 minutes the food finally came. The next hurdle came when paying: We were in a group and wanted to pay individually. The annoyed waiter said that card payments were supposedly only possible from €30 onwards. There was no sign of it anywhere, no sign, no sticker. This is not acceptable in this day and age! We were there for the last time, absolutely not recommended!

This was our fourth time here and it was always delicious and the service was top notch. An absolute must. Highly, highly, highly recommended!

The restaurant is very close to our apartment. Unfortunately, there were only three of us celebrating my parents' 65th wedding anniversary on May 17, 2024. The food and service were very good. We had booked a table, but it wasn't that crowded at lunchtime. The waiter filleted my father's fish at the table, which worked very well. However, the furniture is already a bit old.

The food and the ambience are absolutely TOP! However, the same cannot be said for the service. Unfriendly greeting - maybe you don't feel like welcoming guests at all?! The guests' gaze is avoided - politeness and, above all, attentiveness are definitely different! What particularly bothered us when paying was the harsh and unfriendly tone!

Everything is right here. The food is always fresh and very tasty - there are often unusual insider tips that are not on the menu; the wine selection is also recommended. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Great ambience. Parking spaces are available in sufficient quantities. It's well worth a visit - for me it's the best Italian in town.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the service! My pregnant girlfriend (7 months) and I were practically thrown out for only ordering coffee. Literally it was said: "If you don't order anything else, you should release the table when we need it". After 20 minutes we couldn't even finish the coffee when we were asked to vacate the table. Important!!! There were many free tables without a “reserved” sign! Unpleasant and offensive! The appetite and desire to come back are gone. Is this a new rule where customers are rated based on order total?

Essen an sich war lecker ABER wir waren als große Gruppe dort und es wurde uns als Vorspeise eine Platte für den gesamten Tisch angeboten. Diese Vorspeise bestand aus insgesamt 9 Tellern von denen jeweils 3 gleich bestückt waren. Diese war an sich auch lecker aber viel zu wenig für insgesamt 17 Personen. Hätten wir diese Vorspeise alle einzeln bestellt wären wir besser weggekommen. Das schlimmste daran war aber der Preis, den wir am Ende bezahlen mussten. Insgesamt war es für 17 Personen nur für die Vorspeise 250€ was eine absolute Frechheit ist. Man muss bedenken es waren kalte Platten. Man konnte die Vorspeise auch nicht mit Karte bezahlen, sondern nur Bar, weil es angeblich nicht so einfach wäre diese von jedem abzuziehen.

Wir sind Stammgäste und möchten uns auf diesem Weg für die vielen Jahre bedanken. Die Tageskarte ist immer ausgefallen und lecker. Unser Lieblingswein wird uns gebracht ohne das wir was sagen müssen und die obligatorische Flasche Wasser ebenfalls. Danke und wir freuen uns auf viele weitere Besuche.

Absolut empfehlenswert. Essen war sehr gut. Der Service war sehr freundlich. Zwar wurden Bestellungen vergessen und Leute bei der Bestellung übergangen, aber das kann im Eifer des Gefechts schon mal passieren. Ansonsten alles tipptopp und lecker 😋 Ganz klare Weiterempfehlung. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Eine Tischreservierung sollte vorab, insbesondere, wenn man mit >4 Personen kommen möchte, unbedingt erfolgen.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit diesem Restaurant. Wir hatten für ein Familienfest vorbestellt. Wir saßen separat. Die Bedienung war fleißig und schaute immer nach dem Rechten. Die Vorspeisenplatten waren sehr vielfältig und super lecker. Der Hauptgang war á la carte. Das Essen kam zusammen an den Tisch. Mir hat es geschmeckt. Und bei den Anderen waren die Teller auch geleert. Großes Lob an den Koch. Ich empfehle es weiter. Es war ein schöner Abend.

Immer wieder gerne einfach ein super Italiener mit super essen netten Personal und moderaten Preisen und das zu diesen Zeiten!!!! Macht weiter so ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Mal!!!!

Essen war sehr lecker und schmackhaft

Wir waren am Samstag mit der Familie zu Gast. 1 Tag vorher wurde der Tisch reserviert, was ohne Reservierung sonst bestimmt schwierig geworden wäre. Das Restaurant war voll, nichts Neues zum Samstag. Jedes Mal, wenn wir hier sind ist es sehr gut besucht! Das Personal ist trotzdem freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Gerichte in der Karte sowie die wechselnden Tagesangebote sind vielseitig und schmackhaft. Wir haben bisher keinen Reinfall erlebt, das Essen war immer total lecker. Hier findet jeder etwas, nicht nur Pasta oder Pizza! Wir saßen in einer gemütlichen Sitzecke und bekamen vom Trubel des Abends kaum etwas mit. Die schlechten Rezensionen können wir nicht nachvollziehen und haben nichts dieser Art bisher erlebt. Wir freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen. Wir kommen auf jedem Fall wieder!

Gutes Essen, sehr teuer (13-16€ für Standard Hauptgerichte) für kleine (aber ausreichende) Portionen. Leider wurde bei uns der inbegriffen Vorspeisen Salat am Tisch komplett vergessen. Das ist uns selber auch erst aufgefallen als wir Fertig waren, auf Nachfrage wäre er bestimmt noch gekommen. Es war auch sehr viel los (Samstag) daher nur ein Stern Abzug.

Leider muss ich die Pizzeria mittlerweile als mangelhaft bewerten. Früher sind wir sehr gerne hingegangen.Essen war Top und die Bedienung sehr höflich und freundlich. Seit einigen Monaten ist das Essen eher durchschnittlich und die Freundlichkeit lässt stark zu wünschen übrig.

Das schlechteste Tatar meines Lebens. Und dann dafür 18,90€ verlangen. Langweilig, Nicht richtig zubereitet. Nie wieder hier essen. Der Rest ist bestenfalls Durchschnitt. Preis-Leistung-Geschmacksverhältnis ist fraglich. Der Service ist ganz okay.

Restaurant war leer und sollten uns setzen wo wir wollten. Haben Latte und Cappuccino bestellt und diese waren top. Leider war der Kellner nicht nett und irgendwie genervt. Weil wir nichts zum Essen bestellt haben mussten wir 3 Euro für die Papier-Servietten bezahlen. Sowas ist mir noch nie passiert. Selbst in Venedig nicht und da werden Turis abgezockt... bon Appetito

Sehr lecker gegessen, immer wieder zu empfehlen

Das war wohl nichts. Für 19 Uhr einen Tisch reserviert, eine Woche im voraus. Es war nichts eingedeckt. Das Besteck wurde dann lieblos verteilt. Man kam sich vor wie am Katzentisch. Das Essen war eher spärlich, nur wenig Beilage (1,5 Kartoffeln zum Lachs). Die ganze Dorade wurde amateurhaft filletiert mit einer Menge von verbliebenen Gräten. Vom Service ganz zu schweigen. Das ganze zu einem stattlichen Preis. So gibt es für uns so schnell keine Wiederholung. Es ist keine Empfehlung mehr.

Am 31.12.2022 konnten wir gemeinsam mit Freunden und Bekannten eine tolle Silvesterfeier zum Jahreswechsel in Jahr 2023 erleben. Wir waren positiv überrascht. Einmal von den reichlich und appetitlichen 2 Gänge-Menü und natürlich auch von den Service durch die Bedienung des Abends, die sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend gewesen sind. An dieser Stelle möchten wir auch ein herzliches Dankeschön an den Diskjockey des Abends sagen, wo keine Musikwünsche  offen blieben, und er somit die Silvesterparty zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis werden ließ.  Nicht vergessen möchten wir die Betreiber vom Castello, die alles mit viel Liebe und Details mit dem gesamten Team vorbereitet haben. Für uns ist diese Erfahrung Ausdruck dafür, dass alle Ihre Mitarbeiterinnen einen guten Umgang mit Menschen haben. Dies zeigt unter anderem auch, wie sehr sie jeden einzelnen Gast schätzen. Super leckere Pasta, guter Wein, angenehme Atmosphäre, fairer Preis. Eines der besten Restaurants in Merseburg, definitiv aber der beste Italiener.

We were starving. TA showed a bunch of restaurants that we deemed as suitable. Our first (because closest) choice was closed and thus, we hemmed and hawed before deciding on this Italian. Situated far from any touristic interests, the restaurant was well-attended by locals. We found a table inside but were informed that our dog was not welcome. Not a problem - we respect such requests and the dog simply stayed in the car (too cold to sit outside for us...). Service was friendly - but not enthusiastic as we're used to in the US. Food arrived quickly, looked good, and tasted good, too. For us, a great tell-tale sign of any Italian kitchen is the quality of their Ragu (or Bolognese, as they call it in Germany). It's VERY easy to tell a great Ragu from an average one - and even easier to tell a bad one. What we received here was good. A tad above average, even. Pizza was good, too. Probably one of the better ones I've had in this region. It's not Neapolitan, but certainly along the lines of whatever can be expected in a decent restaurant. Prices were more than fair and are a nice nod to a successful attempt to provide good and affordable Italian food for people in the neighborhood rather than trying to fleece tourists. I'd happily come back.

Wir haben dort zu Abend gegessen. Eine Pizza die war ok. Und Nudeln mit Tomatensoße. Diese waren auch lecker aber es ähnelte eher einer Kinderportion. Nun ja! Wir teilten die Pizza auf und hatten zum Glück noch einen Salat. So wurden alle satt. Am Nachbartisch übrigens die selbe Situation! Erwachsene Person bestellt Nudeln, bekommt ebenfalls Kinderportion und guckt sparsam. Die Begleitung sieht das und sagt: „Meistens sättigen solche Soßen sehr schnell!“ Wie die Geschichte hier ausging weiß ich leider nicht, da wir früher gegangen sind. Das Personal war erst nett, dann eher hochnäsig und arrogant. Warum das so war wissen wir leider nicht. Noch ein Versuch von unserer Seite Trinkgeld! Kein Danke und beim gehen auch kein Auf Wiedersehen! Hmmm! Neue Kundschaft und Weiterempfehlen ist hier wohl nicht gewünscht. Wir kommen nicht wieder!
