Never again... Chaos, noise and the food is of cheap quality

The quality has clearly changed for the better. I haven't been there for three years now, but now it might be my favorite Greek place. The food was good and aromatic. The wine recommendation (Retsina from Kechribari) went very well. Very friendly service. We look forward to more.

I was there for the first time today on August 30th, 2024. I reserved a table for 8 people. Everything was great from the start, we ordered our drinks and food. The children (two children) got their food first, that was okay, and then half an hour later there was nothing, it was already an hour later, they came and asked if we had gotten our salads yet. And then he ran away again. 10 minutes later we get our salads. It was already 1 hour and 10 minutes late. The other people came later than us, they had already eaten, paid and left. And then I called someone from the staff and asked where is our food. And only then did they immediately bring it with them. We only received our food after 90 minutes. And paying was also bad, I said twice that I wanted to pay, but had to wait another 20 minutes. Because the other customers were more important than us. I'm also dissatisfied with the food.

Hmmm...what should you write about...?.. simply the best Greek in the area...even if you only come 2 or 3 times a year, it's like staying with friends..😁

Even though everything was full, we were given an extra space. Food was good and service was quick.

First impression: really nice place for a cozy meal. The service is friendly and attentive. Everyone gets a welcome Sambuca and most dishes come with a side salad included. 🥗🍽️ The backyard is also very inviting and idyllic, especially on a summer day with lovely music in the background. ☺️🌿 I marinated the fried mushrooms in garlic and found it absolutely delicious 💯

All in all it is a nice restaurant with a nice garden restaurant. The service staff was very nice and attentive. I can highly recommend the gyro plate, the gyro was very tasty and really good quality. The special gyros, on the other hand, was a complete disaster apart from the quality of the meat! The Metaxa sauce doesn't taste like Metaxa, instead of an extra plate of potato chips, they were placed in the baking dish, which caused them to become soggy and thus drastically reduced the filling quantity of the gyro! You had to look for the salad dressing! A column of cucumber and tomato. I personally think that charging €20.10 for that is just too expensive! Sorry, price-performance ratio is catastrophic! Unfortunately I didn't like the special gyro! I've been eating it for years, a pure disappointment. Never ever sorry!

Six of us spontaneously visited the Hermes after a funeral. The food was very good, the service was attentive and quick. We sat in the garden and despite a cloudburst the atmosphere was homely. We'd love to come back

Still our favorite Greek. Love coming here, always friendly staff, food is good. Unfortunately it has become a bit more expensive. But we'll be back, just not as often. We recommend.

The taste is good as always, but I think it's a real shame that all the dishes have become so small and the prices are too high. I think paying €9 for 4-5 pieces of dolmades is really a lot. Or a Musaka 20€ is a bit much but otherwise ok.

You should definitely make a reservation here - why? Because there is always a lot going on here for a reason! We reserved for the first time on the recommendation of a friend and unfortunately only quite late, which is why we were more likely to get the 'cat table'. I didn't think it was that great at first, but the food here completely made up for it. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere in the low-rise old building was cozy. We looked at the great beer garden, unfortunately we didn't try it due to the weather, but for me it is one of the most beautiful locations in Schopfheim's old town. So far so good - but the very best thing was definitely the Greek cuisine here - THE indication of the quality of the cuisine for me is the 'simple' gyros. If it tastes good, then you can usually eat it up and down the menu with confidence 😉. So first there was a salad and grilled pepperoni, which were great. But the gyro with tzatziki, tomato rice and potato slices here was simply outstanding! One of the best I've ever eaten. For sauce fans like my wife, there is a gyros pan with a great cream sauce, which (not my first choice, but) was also great. We will definitely make reservations here again soon with a little more advance notice.

We have been eating here for 9 years, it always tastes very good and the service is always friendly. Even during Corona times you could pick up food here and receive a small bottle of wine as a thank you. Can only be recommended

We have eaten here several times and once again reserved a table for four people on a Saturday evening. As always, the food was very good and the portions were reasonable. Unfortunately I can't say nearly the same thing about the service... As usual for Saturday evening, the restaurant was very full and all the tables were occupied. The staff appeared stressed and correspondingly cold when greeting us and taking the order. The drinks and food, however, were served very quickly. As already mentioned, it was very crowded that evening and there were always guests who hadn't made reservations. So does a group of 6 people. We were almost finished eating and would certainly have stayed for a while, but were then asked to sit at another table to make room for the 6 people who had just arrived. You simply can't do that in a restaurant if there is no suitable space available. The guests either have to be patient or come over another time, but asking guests who are already eating to move around is an absolute absurdity. Unfortunately it was the last visit to this restaurant…

Anyone who knows their way around the kitchen knows what it means when, despite a full house, the food leaves the kitchen every 12 minutes. Not top gastronomy but very tasty! As a non-Greek I would say: Typical Greek cuisine: meat, fish, poultry, vegetarian! Friendly and courteous staff, fast service, prices appropriate to the current economic situation (inflation, etc.). Value for money = Good! Visited on December 17, 2023 2 adults, 1 child 8 years old, three starters, three main courses (sufficient quantities) + drinks. 93€

Sind völlig zufrieden mit der Auswahl und Qualität der Gerichte. Schneller Service, Extras werden auch ohne Probleme umgesetzt. Preise sind angemessen, sowie die Portions Größe. Ambiente ist sehr warmherzig, wie in einer Familiären Stube. Park Möglichkeiten gibt's um das gesamte Wohnblock verstreut. Lokal liegt gut erreichbar in der Altstadt. Reservierung ist empfehlenswert, ob man zu zweit oder als Gruppe geht. Ist ein erneuter Besuch, immer wieder wert. Wir mögen es sehr.

Tolles Restaurant, mit gutem Essen gerne wieder

Ok…. Wenn hier jemand zu meckern hat, verstehe ich die Menschheit nicht. Selten so gut gegessen!! Speisekarte grosszügig und Service sehr freundlich. Wir haben diese Woche zweimal dort zu Abend gegessen und beidemale waren wir sehr zufrieden. Mit Liebe gekocht und mit viel Herz serviert! Schade, gibt es kein Griechisches Restaurant in dieser Qualität, in unserer Wohngegend.

Bisher waren wir immer recht zufrieden mit den Leistungen in diesem Restaurant. Bei unserem letzten Besuch ging leider so ziemlich einiges schief. Bereits bei der Reservierung hatte ich angegeben, dass wir einen Hochstuhl benötigen. Als wir unserem Tisch zugewiesen wurden, konnte uns leider kein Hochstuhl gereicht werden, es waren alle im Umlauf. Wir wurden mit der Aussage "Sobald einer frei wird, bekommen Sie ihn" vertröstet. Das Essen war dieses Mal leider ebenfalls nicht so gut. Unser Fleisch war recht zäh und in einem überbackenen Gericht war noch ein kleiner Knochen. Der Service war ziemlich gestresst, das Restaurant war ziemlich ausgebucht. Als wir eines der Essen mitnehmen wollten, mussten wir zunächst fast 20 Minuten warten. Dann wurde uns eine Schale mit komplett anderem Essen ausgehändigt. Es bleibt zu vermuten, dass unser Essen im Mülleimer gelandet ist und man uns auf die Schnelle vertrösten wollte... Sehr schade !

Essen war sehr lecker. 2x wurde etwas vergessen. Finde auch den Platz rechts am. Eingang nicht so schön.

Sehr lecker hier mit Freuden gegessen. Das Hermes liegt still im historischen Kern von Schopfheim und besticht durch seinen leichten Flair. Portionen sind super lecker, Sonderwünsche werden problemlos berücksichtigt und umgesetzt. Einfach toll!

Mi piace molto la cucina greca. Posto molto carino. Eravamo in 8 e ci siamo sistemati all'esterno del locale.

Leckere Griechische Gerichte. Reservierung ist zu empfehlen. Ist immer gut besucht. Manchmal ist man auch im Obergeschoss untergebracht. Es führt ein schmales Treppenhaus dorthin.

Пристигнахме в началният час на вечерния сервиз. Настаниха ни бързо и без проблем. Учтив келнер ни взе поръчката за напитки а малко по късно и поръчката за храна. Получихме всичко много бързо и както е прието с напитките и глътка охладено узо за аперитив. Храната беше вкусна типично в стил гръцка кухня. Цените са умерени до ниски. Препоръчвам!

Ja, volle Punktzahl. Wer es kennt, dem erzähle ich nichts Neues. Ich möchte nicht übertreiben, aber es kommt mir vor als wenn das Hermes sogar immer noch etwas besser wird 😎 Es ist mit Abstand der Beste Grieche weit und breit. Tolles Essen. Toller freundlicher Empfang, immer Aufmerksam, top. Preis Leistung unschlagbar, grosse Portionen. Wir waren wieder mal begeistert. Dank an das ganze Team ihr macht das Super, hoffe es bleibt so. Super 👍👍👍

Ein sehr freundliches und nettes Lokal, das Personl freundlich und zuvorkommend das Essen ist der Hammer super lecker. Alles immer frisch zubereitet. Man fühlt sich sehr wohl bei euch. Wir kommen wieder.

Excellent food and fast, business like service. The satff obviously work fast and hard but that doesn't mpact on the relaxed atmosphere.

Ich hatte die Dorfplatte zum Hauptgericht, zur Vorspeise Saganaki und es war beides sehr sehr gut! Bei der Dorfplatte muss man Lamm und die anderen Fleischsorten natürlich mögen! Ich mag es sehr!

Grosse Portionen, sehr freundliches Personal. Man erhält gleich zu Beginn einen Ouzo, einfach ein hervorragendes Lokal.

Rätselhaft erscheint die Plazierung . Das servierte Essen empfanden wir als gewöhnlich, eigentlich Imbiss-Qualität und dafür preislich zu hoch. Der Biergarten ist schön, leider kein Grund um dort zu essen.

Immer wieder lecker:-) schöner Biergarten im Sommer und angenehme Athmosphäre drinnen im Obergeschoss. Die Bedienungen sind auf Zack und sehr nett. Unser absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant in Schopfheim:-)

I always come back with please. This restaurant is the best greek dinning in the area. Can't say much about dishes because I choose always Gyros which tastes like heaven. I can recommend their Tzatziki sauce.

Einfache & leckere Griechische Küche. Anständige Portionen und immer sehr gut besucht. Ich persöhlich würde auch 2€ mehr pro Gericht zahlen wenn etwas mehr auf die Qualität (Frisch, selbstgemacht) geachtet würde. Alles in allem trotzdem ein "Daumen hoch".

We called on 22 July twice to book a table for four on 23 July 2018 (evening) our second call was placed 20 minutes before their 10pm close on 22 July.. As there was only a recorded message, we asked them to call back by 10am on 23 July to confirm. This did not happen. So we wrote our booking request on their website. After completing our request, we were asked to enter a CAPTCHA combo of six letters/digits. Once we had done this, we were confronted with a second CAPTCHA puzzle - and a Thord and a fourth. You've guessed, the message was not submitted. So I sent them a normal email to the address mentioned on their website. Guess what - this was returned to us "undeliverable" So whatever the quality of food, it is negated by a performance such as we encountered. Shame on HERMES! On what planet do they think they are living. PS If any of you need a nearby alternative, the Alte Stadtmühle is super - and Herr Bauer (although single handed ion the kitchen) picks up the phone at once.

We had lunch at this place. Start was saganaki and fried feta. The fried feta was tasty (lots of garlic), the saganaki quite pale. Next came two mixed plates with salad (no good dressing). The meat was overall ok, the gyros pretty good. Calamares was like rubber. Rooms are old style and clean. Service friendly and efficient. Prices rather high facing the quality.

Was here for dinner in Aug 2017, the service is ok but the entire athmosphere is extremely cold, everything happen in rush mode and staff not really smiling,cannot define it "an experience". I do not recommend to came in this place.

We were here by default - in the area and needed to eat quickly. This is a place the locals visit and I think we were the only tourists, which is not a bad thing at all. Portions were generous. We had 1 moussaka dinner, 1 chicken and rice dinner and 2 drinks, 40 euros. We've had better Greek food and we've had worse. The outdoor dining area was nice.

I lunched here with my wife, in the large and secluded outside dining area. Service was good, and the food was fine without being anything special. I chose a prawn starter and a main of fish, the latter accompanied by rice and fried potatoes, washed down with beer. The venue and ambience were good, and the price low.

We visited here for 3 times and never disappointed. The service is great, the portion are big and taste. The prices are fair.

I have visited Hermes restaurant yesterday . I am utmost impressed with quality of food and overall ambiance! Staff is mainly Greek origin which adds to overall experience. We were lucky with weather, so we sat in the sunny garden . There was lovely Greek music in the background. Menu was slightly overwhelming, but with a little patience, I am sure you can get perfect combination. Please make sure you try their moussaka! It is out of this world. I have had moussaka for most of my growing years, and trust me, their moussaka is amazing! There were couple of free ouzo's and all in all, this was unforgettable experience !
