Great restaurant with good food

Nice, rustic atmosphere, good food at reasonable prices. The sheep's cheese from the salad with sheep's cheese was partly burnt black. The Maultaschen very good.

Celebrated my 80th birthday and the service was super friendly and attentive. Food was also very tasty

A really great restaurant, very cozy atmosphere, super nice staff, very extensive menu, for every taste, great selection. We'll be back.

8 of us had dinner in the evening. Everything was excellent. Price performance is right. Everyone was happy with the atmosphere and friendly service.

There's plenty of room for improvement. Especially in terms of service and friendliness. The guest cannot help it that the restaurant is very full and there is a lot to do. Service sloppy and impatient. The menu is far too extensive, which raises doubts as to whether the food here is freshly cooked. Everything from home cooking to Italian pasta, fish, game, etc. Plus a daily menu and an extra menu. Greek statues can be found in the sanitary facilities. No concept recognizable at all. The food was OK, but nothing more. Card payment not possible, which we only found out when paying. We had to borrow money from each other. We're not going there anymore.

Wir gehen seit vielen Jahren traditionell zum Gänseessen in die Grenzsägmühle. Diesmal waren wir in einer großen Gruppe dort, dadurch haben wir neben der Gans innerhalb der Gruppe zahlreiche sonstige Gerichte der Speisekarte kennengelernt. Die Gans mit Beilagen war so reichlich, dass vier gute Esser noch Fleisch und Beilagen mit nach Hause nehmen konnten. Das ging übrigens an den Nachbartischen ähnlich. Ebenso die anderen Gerichte begeisterten. Ob Salat mit Lachs, Forelle, Rehgulasch, alles üppige Portionen und geschmacklich klasse. Und das sagen unter anderen zwei Köche in unserer Gruppe… Wir können das Restaurant auch unter den neuen Betreibern sehr empfehlen. Einzig der freundliche Service tat sich mit der Gästezahl offenbar schwer, die Wartezeiten erforderten etwas Geduld… das tat der Geselligkeit keinen Abbruch und das kulinarische Ergebnis entschädigt dafür.

One of the most beautiful inns I know. Great ambience, super delicious Baden/Swabian food. There is something for every price range from 10 euros to 35 euros. Since it is usually fully booked, you should take a few minutes extra with you and don't get nervous if it takes a while for the food to arrive. The wait is definitely worth it. In summer, you should definitely visit the beer garden. Tip to all visitors. It is a top-class inn, but not a gourmet restaurant. If you want a rustic gourmet restaurant atmosphere, you have to go to the Grenz Alm. You experience a unique atmosphere, with very good food and extremely friendly service. Be sure to try the cocktails here. Better than in any bar. Here too, the beer garden is 100% recommended. Both restaurants can be recommended 100%. I've been coming here to eat here with my family and especially on business for years and I've never been disappointed. Both restaurants, whether a tavern or a mountain hut, are 100% suitable for experiencing a cozy evening with good business customers. I give it 100 points out of 100, just good. If you're a family type, then you've come to the right place. These two restaurants are super family-run and this is transferred to the whole team.

Wir gehen schon jahrelang in die "Grenz",aber das was hier mittlerweile serviert wird ist einfach schlecht und überteuert. Cordon Bleu,150 Gram billiger Käse und zähes trockenes Fleich. Und das für teuer Geld.

The Grenzsägmühle is always worth a visit.

The food was good. We had reserved one of the private rooms for a baptism, but instead we were in the middle of the room where we had no space at all for our invited guests' buggy and walker, which was very uncomfortable and not well thought out. We had a lot of trouble getting up and down the steps with a stroller, no one helped. Very unfortunate. I wouldn't go there again for big celebrations.

The food was good, but not great. The place was quite crowded but not too noisy. Food took a long to get to us, but when it got there it was really good. Not the best I ever had but it was certainly good enough to go there again. The potato soup was really great 5/5, but the sauce of the Rehbraten was too salty - the meat was really nice and tender though. The portions are reasonable and enough for a grown man to be satisfied with. Definitely worth a visit. I have to subtract one star for the service because the serving lady said that it was our fault for ordering soup, that the main food had to be delayed (for an hour). We would certainly have eaten soup and dinner together at the same time.

I was invited here this evening for a birthday dinner with my husband. The positive aspects: - a nice atmosphere - good parking options - Feminine hygiene products were offered in the women's toilet The negative aspects: - very crowded and very loud - A tractor with a trailer and very bright headlights drove past the restaurant every 5 minutes throughout the evening. - the food took forever and the side dishes were not served with the main courses. - Since sometimes two people had ordered the same dish, the side dish came in a double portion, but in a container that then had to be passed over the entire table in a very awkward manner. - I had the Jägerrahmschnitzel with croquettes and it was quite good. However, I have had much better ones and expected much better based on the reports from our friends. The meat was a bit tough and the sauce was a bit too runny. The crust of the croquettes could also have been thicker. - The side dishes weren't enough to use up the sauce, which for me is a crucial criterion for a good meal/good portioning. Overall experience: It was good, but my expectations were not met. So I'm a little disappointed. But I'm happy to give it a second try. Maybe it will get better.

When after 20 minutes there was still no service at our table, we left again. It's a shame.

Conclusion: Gladly again - high quality dishes at fair prices. Nice fast, friendly and courteous service. Homemade spaetzle and perfectly fried meat. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant and even get a water bowl. Unfortunately, the parking situation is not particularly good.

Very good food. The onion roast or cordon bleu is a classic here. The food is served quickly and the waitresses are quick and competent. The outside area is cozy and not too spacious. Prices are reasonable.

Nice beer garden to the left and right of an agricultural path a little away from wine presses. We have been here several times and have always been satisfied. The menu ranges from Maultaschen to Argentinian beef steak. In between there is a stand for tarte flambée and pinsas. The waitresses are consistently attentive and friendly. Opposite the actual beer garden there is the “Alm” which also has a rustic outdoor area. The alpine hut is perfect for private celebrations.

first to the negative: It's a shame that we don't always have such super warm weather in the evening. Everything else is positive. Great food, great location, small ugly playground right next to the tables, but at least a playground :) TABLECLOTH clean!!! I never experience that otherwise. The first time I didn't have to feel disgusted when I sat down. Even the parasols are all mold-free and have no cracks. Toilet very nice and clean. Finally you can eat outside in peace without the annoying cigarette smoke. I don't know if it was because of the distance to the other table, but I didn't notice the smoke. Otherwise it's ALWAYS an issue. We had schnitzel, roast pork and burgers. All very, very good.

I found the feta salad to be very good and, above all, really enough to fill you up. My wife couldn't finish her tuna salad...and that was good too. Service very attentive.

Were there yesterday. We were looking forward to good food and drink. When asked, the waitress said that payment by card was not possible. Too bad! Because of this fact, we gave up 4 dishes and more drinks. As we were leaving, we saw that the table opposite could pay by card???

Wir sind immer sehr gerne in die Grenzsägmühle gegangen und das Essen war früher auch sehr hochwertig, man hat den Einschlag der französischen „Gourmetküche“ gespürt. Leider wurden wir beim letzten Mal im Juni bitter enttäuscht wir waren zu siebt, um den Geburtstag der Oma zu feiern. Das Restaurant und auch der neue Biergarten waren „brechend voll“. Wir saßen im Wintergarten in der prallen Sonne und haben 2 Stunden auf unser Essen gewartet. Es war kaum auszuhalten, die Kinder quengelig vor Hunger. Als dann nach 1,5h zwei Nachbartische neu besetzt und noch vor uns mit Essen versorgt wurden, haben wir uns beschwert. Kommentar der Kellnerin: kleine Tische werden vorgezogen. Geht gar nicht. Insbesondere wenn man reserviert hat, die anderen aber nicht. Die Spargelsuppe, die ich bisher geliebt habe, war langweilig und pampig. Auch die andere Gerichte haben leider deutlich an Qualität verloren. Schade, das war dann das letzte mal!

Thursday evening - warm and summery and very busy. And still (!!!!) very nice service, delicious food and a place outside. Haven't been there for a long time before, but will be back very soon.

We were just there to grab a little something. The service staff made it clear to us several times within a very short space of time that we had to place the order quickly, otherwise the kitchen would close. We were so impressed by the manner that we stood up after ordering our drinks. Disgraceful treatment of guests.

We felt uncomfortable because the waitress only gave us the season ticket after we asked and put us under so much pressure while we sat down and ordered that we no longer wanted to be served. So we ended up canceling everything.

Food great, service flop... I had dinner with you in May and had a very, very tasty meal. It was marrow dumpling soup and two salads. Everything from the kitchen was really excellent. Big praise to the kitchen team. And now unfortunately comes my negative experience: We would have liked to order dessert and more drinks afterwards. Unfortunately that wasn't possible because no one asked us about it for over 45 minutes. The empty plates were not cleared away even though food was served at the next table. You could have taken it with you at any time when you ran out.

We always enjoy coming here. The food is simply good, the staff is nice and accommodating and everything happens pretty quickly, even though it's always full here. Thank you and keep it up 😊

Wir waren als 20-köpfige Wandergruppe (mit Vorbestellung) während der Fußball-EM am späten Nachmittag zur Abschlusseinkehr in der Grenzsägmühle. Uns wurde die Wahl gelassen im Lokal oder außerhalb zu sitzen (+), der Service war schnell und freundlich (+), die Speisen und Getränke hatten ein gutes Preis- Leistungs-Verhältnis (+) und das Ambiente war durchaus ansprechend. Von "übersteigertem" Fußballfieber waren wir verschont. Die Fans hatten in einer angrenzenden Location Gelegenheit, sich ihrer Leidenschaft hinzugeben. Es war trotz hoher Besucherfrequenz ein entspannter Nachmittag.

Top Location, supernette Bedienungen….Sehr leckeres Essen und perfekte Getränkekarte, Preis-Leistung absolut angemessen…. Immer wieder gerne!!!

Thin schnitzels for too much money. Orders were forgotten and wrong drinks were served. On top of that, we paid €7 too much. They were so stupid and didn't let us get an invoice because everyone was charged one after the other in a large group.

Food has declined so much in recent years but the price has risen. Went there at the weekend and ordered fried potatoes as a side dish. I don't understand fried potatoes, but what I ate was definitely a fried potato from the day before yesterday. Very disappointing. And where were the salad side dishes that we got for years?

Great alpine hut feeling on Father's Day in the Grenz-Alm, but unfortunately without a view of the summit. Very tasty food (lots of asparagus dishes) and courteous service.

Good home cooking with Baden/Swabian cuisine. The Maultaschen and the lentils with spaetzle and strings as well as the Swiss sausage salad and the steaks could convince us. In summer, beautiful beer garden and excursion destination for cyclists and hikers. The staff is friendly, free parking in front of the house.

The restaurant was recommended to us and it was our first time there. It was super pleasant. The menu is very extensive and the prices are reasonable. There is something for every budget. But at least you won't be disappointed after eating. The taste and quantity are worth the price. It was the best meal I've had in a long time. There were 9 of us and everyone was thrilled. Leftovers were prepared to take away by the very nice waitress. The atmosphere and climate in the restaurant were pleasant, even though the house was full. We'll be back soon. Many. We entered the restaurant and I just asked the waitress if the kitchen was still open and the waitress asked us what time it was? It was just 8:45 p.m. And asked us to go in with a face! Is this the friendly Baden hospitality? Please no! It took forever for our order to be taken and even then we were not adequately served. The culinary journey has now begun: The food was also disappointing. Not only was the food tasteless, but it also didn't seem to be freshly prepared. The presentation left a lot to be desired and the quality was nothing like what you would expect for the price. Overall, the second visit was a big disappointment like the first visit and unfortunately I wanted to give the restaurant another chance. I would not recommend this restaurant. Hopefully they will improve their service and the quality of their food to provide future guests with a more pleasant experience.

Had dinner at this restaurant. The two girls at the service were both very friendly and very attentive even though the restaurant was completely booked. We got the drinks after just 2 minutes. The food also came promptly. The salad was very tasty and everyone also enjoyed the main course. The price was a bit high, but the friendliness and quality of the food were completely convincing. We'd love to come back....

The food was good. Unfortunately it just took a long time to get it on the table. It's a shame that the service wasn't really attentive either. The drink glasses and bottles stood empty on the table for ages. We would have liked to drink more, unfortunately this was due to the service. Despite all this, we will definitely come back when we are in the area. However, based on my experience, I wouldn't take an extra trip.

Was a guest here on March 7th, 2024 and am very disappointed with the price development and the menu. Not only was the fact that the prices were significantly increased at the turn of the year annoying, but also that dishes that had a side salad in 2023 are now also offered without a side salad. So you now have to order the side salad for around 4.50 euros extra. My companion ordered a salad with salmon strips. Here, too, the prices were significantly increased and the salad plate was not served in the usual abundance. In particular, the 3 salmon strips were significantly narrower and thinner than usual in 2023. When I visit a restaurant where I am a frequent guest, I as a guest have certain expectations of the quality and volume of the food. I could have accepted the general price increase, but the removal of included side salads and the salmon strips, which were almost halved in quantity, was very disappointing. It's a shame - I will reduce my visits to the Grenzsägemühle in the future in favor of other restaurants that still calculate their prices on a real basis.

The Grenzsägmühle is always worth a visit. We have been coming here for many years and the quality remains consistently good and tasty.

Friendly service - Commanding restaurant boss The food wasn't as good as we enjoyed it about a year ago. Unfortunately, our Wiener Schnitzel was very tough. Our friendly complaint was simply acknowledged. We found the tone of the "boss" (white hair) towards his friendly and committed employees very unpleasant.

After the bill we weren't wished a nice evening or anything like that, but were just hissed off without a word... Catastrophic. Never again.
