Friendly, dedicated staff. I've eaten there a few times before and have always been satisfied. Today was the first time it was just mediocre. The service was always friendly and attentive, even though it was busy. The food has declined in quality: the portions were smaller than before, the price higher, and unfortunately, the taste wasn't up to par. The pot roast is usually excellent, but the side dish was awful this time. A shame.

The food was so-so. The food was lukewarm. It was presented without any care.

One of our favorite restaurants in Solingen! A special mention goes to the new waiter, who is simply fantastic! We enjoy coming here even more now. He made us feel we received excellent advice and service!

After 45 minutes, we finally asked if we could order something to eat. The service felt overwhelmed with four tables occupied. The food was cafeteria-style, which was truly disappointing. The sauces came from a packet, and the fries, although hand-cut, were completely flabby from the air fryer. All in all, unfortunately, the service was rather lackluster, which is a shame considering the price and the long-established restaurant. Then, as a restaurant owner, you shouldn't complain when customers don't show up. The beer was the only bright spot.

Beer was good, service could be improved a lot, food was a complete disaster. You can get better food at any chip shop. The plates were cold, which meant the food was cold too. Some of the food was burnt, so if you like roasted flavors, this is the place for you. As a former chef, I can't understand why this kind of food is even served to customers. It's a shame, really.

The ambiance in the restaurant is truly impressive, but the service from the disgruntled waiter isn't. The price for the Metthappen (meat sausage) is ridiculous—the bread and Mett (minced meat) taste good, but the portion is very small for the high price. The female waitress kept the damage to a minimum.

A very cozy restaurant with delicious food! The local drinks are especially recommended – both the beer and the house liqueurs are truly excellent. The liqueurs are definitely worth trying! The atmosphere is pleasant, and the clientele is very friendly. I'd love to come back!

The food is of the quality of any snack bar. The currywurst was tough, and the fries were floury. The schnitzel was okay, but nothing special. We wouldn't eat there again. The service was friendly.

​"An evening full of disappointments" ​Our visit to the restaurant was unfortunately a complete disappointment. From the very beginning, the staff seemed overwhelmed and extremely grumpy. Although we had specifically asked them to please give priority to the children's meals, our child's meal was simply forgotten. We had to ask several times before the food finally arrived, at a time when the rest of us had already finished. ​Another low point was the server's forgetfulness – we had to remind them several times about our drink order. Such poor service is unacceptable. We are deeply disappointed and will not be visiting this restaurant again anytime soon.

I've been to the Klosterfrau several times, mostly for business trips. It's always been okay; the restaurant doesn't have a good reputation among my friends. Only the last time, my Wiener Schnitzel was very dry, as were the fries. The small patty on my guest's enormous burger bun also looked odd. Let's be honest, eating out has become expensive—no question. But then everything has to be just right; I expect that for the money—you have to stretch yourself to the limit. This has nothing to do with energy costs, VAT, or the economic situation. The service is heading in the right direction, and the kitchen performance urgently needs to follow suit.

Unfortunately, the last visit wasn't so great. The service and kitchen staff seem to have been replaced? The potato rösti tasted exclusively of grease and was otherwise so crispy that it flakes and pops off when cut, and the sharp points dig into the roof of your mouth when chewing. The schnitzel's paprika sauce tasted more like curry sauce, the fries were crispy on the outside but undercooked on the inside, and the coleslaw didn't taste as good as I remembered. The baked potato was cold on the inside. The knuckle of meat wasn't as tender as last time. All in all, three stars because we've eaten there before and were so satisfied that we came back. But the last visit really wasn't good, and it will be a while before we feel like going back. We didn't complain on the spot; we ate and paid because we didn't expect a complaint to improve things.

We were in the restaurant's beer garden yesterday around 6:30 p.m. When we arrived, there were three free tables, two of which weren't cleared. There were three waitresses present, but apparently they didn't like us – even though we signaled and made eye contact, the ladies were apparently too good to bother approaching us. After 20 minutes, we had enough of being ignored and left. I also noticed the sticky, uncleared table – of course, that can happen in a beer garden, but then you'd expect it to at least be cleared – and the very wobbly chairs. Above all, the arrogance of the waitresses, who deliberately ignored us despite making eye contact, is a reason why I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or visit it again.

Superb, quiet, homemade beer produced for over 200 years

We had a delicious meal. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the outdoor chairs weren't very comfortable for my back, so we sat inside and enjoyed the wonderful ambiance. The restrooms were in perfect condition. Thank you very much, we'll be happy to come back.

The food arrived very quickly and the staff was extremely friendly. I had the burger. You can't go wrong with that, 3/5. The salad that came with it consisted of coleslaw from a 10L barrel, half a cucumber, and four grated carrot strips. My friend had the paprika schnitzel, which seemed very dry. The fries were handed out with the words "imagine the one black way." Overall, the fries were very dark and crispy, which I personally appreciate.

The waitress was very friendly. The food (veal schnitzel with mushroom sauce) was very disappointing; it was very dry and burnt in places, and the sauce was sour; unfortunately, it didn't taste good. The bruschetta with tomatoes was so-so; for €8.90, you'd expect more. The fries were quite good. Unfortunately, we waited over 50 minutes for the main course. €61 for this quality is unjustified (just the food).

We felt sorry for the head waitress when she had to cheer up the guests because of the delay from the kitchen.

Everything was great. The best-selling dish is the half-ham hock. Delicious beer. Reservations are a good idea. Value for money is good. The seasonal chanterelles are highly recommended.

We were there today with a table reservation. We were a group of 6 people + a newborn in a stroller. This was stated when we made the reservation. We had to put together the tables ourselves. After that, ordering drinks was quite quick and our food was also served quickly. Then there was a long wait when the food finally arrived. We were very disappointed. The spare ribs were a big enough quantity but they were extremely dry and the marinade left a lot to be desired. The sauce served with it was the house currywurst sauce. When we asked, we tried it and the waitress was sure it was the BBQ sauce but wanted to show it to the chef. She confirmed that it was currywurst sauce. We were brought a new sauce, this time "BBQ" sauce, which was inedible. The rest had various types of schnitzel. The chanterelle veal schnitzel was a disappointment, the breading was mushy and the sauce came from a packet. The same applies to the hunter's schnitzel. The only convincing thing was the Viennese-style chicken schnitzel. The fries were also rather mediocre. Because of the long wait, we were promised that we wouldn't be charged for mayonnaise and ketchup, but this was done anyway. Only when we asked did we get our money back. Which brings me to the next point. The waitress made a number of mistakes and took too much money twice. Only after we did the math did we arrive at the correct amount and get our money back. Now comes the absolute bombshell: the waitress pocketed my best friend's mobile phone. Only when we asked did she pull it out of her pocket and say, "It can happen when you're stressed, that you pocket something." We find this very questionable!!! We are definitely not coming home; I also got stomachaches!!

My wife and I arrived yesterday, hungry and full of anticipation, to eat a real Viennese veal schnitzel, just as advertised on the memory card. As an Austrian, it's rare for me to be served a real Viennese veal schnitzel with fries (my wife with croquettes) in German restaurants. But I was shocked when our plates finally arrived. The schnitzel looked like an old terry cloth washcloth that had been used and washed hundreds of times. But as we all know, eyes can be deceiving. However, the taste confirmed the appearance. The meat was tough and dry. The breading wasn't really breading, but something indefinable. That was surely due to the hot air fryer. Unfortunately, the schnitzel, as it should have been made, didn't have any fat or oil. The fries and croquettes also stuck in my throat, so dry that I got hiccups. Inedible! We've never experienced anything like it before. Normally, you can taste the veal. But I have serious doubts whether it was even veal. The meat was gray, and it was hard to tell what it was. A complete disaster in terms of taste. And then, for €32.90, the schnitzel with the side dishes. Help! That would have been a case for the Rach. The service was still very nice, polite, and attentive. Nothing to complain about. The chef should change his career and quit. Never again. I would have been better off spending that money at a chip shop.

We were here with guests from faraway lands and wanted to combine the beautiful town center of Gräfrath with local brewing culture. The beer and the friendly service were good, so I'd actually give them 4 stars. Unfortunately, the food was completely incomprehensible to me: Overcooked currywurst with a leathery, inedible skin, schnitzel with soggy breading, and fries whose fat desperately needed replacing...and all this at prices that deserved at least average. It's a shame - they could really do better.

The menu offers a good selection of delicious dishes that cater to every taste. During our long weekend for a wedding in the region, we have already visited this wonderful restaurant twice. We were always thrilled with the food, drinks and service. Particularly noteworthy is the Gräfrather Pils and the service. A highly recommended place for anyone who appreciates good food and a pleasant atmosphere!

There was also Rheinisches Alt and Zwickerl. We sat at the "confessional", which had a somewhat more rustic, but also charming, atmosphere. The service was also great. We were asked several times if everything was okay and the waitress always had a smile and a nice saying on her lips - which is something you can't find everywhere anymore. You felt welcome. It was a nice and enjoyable evening. We'll be happy to come back! 🍻❤️

Today I unfortunately have to reduce my rating from 5 to 2 stars. As we often do, we ate with you and had really bad sauerbraten twice. As an apology there was an espresso and a small coke, which was nice, but adding 45 euros to the bill for the meal really ruined my evening. It's a shame, we've always been so happy with you. I hope I can change my mind next time. Now that today's meal has pleased me again, I am reducing it to one star, it will stay that way, we will never visit this restaurant again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Das Schaschlik schmeckt grauenvoll, die Brauhauskutscherplatte mit seltsam sauer schmeckender Soße war ihr Geld nicht wert und die Vorspeise Brot mit Grieben Schmalz für über 6 Euro bei drei kleinen Scheiben Brot echt unglaublich teuer und überzogen. Nur das eigene Pils Bier war wirklich lecker ! Auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen.

Wir waren gestern zum erstenmal dort und werden wohl nie wieder dort essen. Das erste Steak(Flank) habe ich mir medium bestellt und bekam ein grau gebratenes ungeniessbares Stück Fleisch was nicht kaubar war und deshalb zurückging. Man entschuldigte sich und empfahl mir das Rumpsteak. Ich liess mich darauf ein und freute mich nun auf den zweiten Versuch. DieTeller meinerFamilie waren schon fast leer, als das Rumpsteak kam. Leider war auch dieses Stück Fleisch zäh wie eine Schuhsohle und ging ebenfalls zurück. Da die Familie ihe Teller nun schon so gut wie geleert hatte, entschied ich mich dazu keinen dritten Versuch zu starten und ging somit mit leerem Magen und ziemlich sauer wieder nach Hause.Sowas ist mir noch nie passiert! Ich kann nicht sagen wie die anderen Speisen schmecken, aber Steaks können die da nicht zubereiten. Ich vermute, dass das Fleisch nicht gut abgehangen war.

This year we held our company's Christmas party in a separate room, the Postillion, after my boss received a personal invitation to dinner there, which I accepted unselfishly. My companion and I were already thrilled at the “tasting meal”. Super friendly service, very homely personal atmosphere and really delicious food. Planning the celebration and especially the buffet with Ms. Lapawa was uncomplicated, friendly and competent. The room was beautifully decorated and the buffet was already ready when the last guests arrived. Both of our waitresses were on their toes, also friendly and hard-working. The food in the buffet was incredibly good. Everything was perfect, nothing was dry and there was enough for a large group of craftsmen. My boss also praised the food several times. All in all, a clear recommendation, both for just eating there and for a good celebration! Gladly again!

Very rustic old brewery in half-timbered style... suitably renovated so that the actual flair was fortunately preserved... great menu with rustic, delicious dishes... from various roasts, roulades, schnitzel, shish kebab, etc... plus spaetzle as a side dish, French fries, red cabbage and much more. ... the dishes were served quickly... and were all tasty... plus a brilliant selection of specially produced beers fresh from the tap... my absolute favorite is the Rheinisches Altbier... and the highlight in this case is even served in an ice-cold earthenware mug... very cool idea and super refreshing... the service was friendly and attentive... no wish went unfulfilled and no throat went dry... another plus point is the good opening times... warm food throughout and open every day...all in all it was a nice one A visit there that certainly calls for a repeat...😋👍🍻
