Restaurant Gasthaus Zahm in Saarbrücken

Unfriendly ladies serve there, seem to be manic, because sometimes they are friendly. This was the last time I was there. Can't stand the mood swings. Food is overly seasoned and bland at the same time. I have no idea how they manage that. All in all very very mediocre -

Far too little! The quality was great, just a medallion-sized beef fillet and 5 croquettes and a small salad for €30 won't fill a full-grown person. Why do you save so much on side dishes? We were there as part of a Christmas party with our team of 16 people. Everyone's opinion was clearly the same.

Cozy atmosphere with the option to sit outside. Since there is a small anteroom between the entrance door and the actual restaurant, which is separated by a curtain, it is not quite as cold as outside, even in winter. The service came quickly and was friendly, even though it was quite busy. In my opinion it was a bit too distant for 5 stars. The food was good, but not the best I've ever had. Still worth recommending and definitely appropriate for the price. So not too expensive. By the way, there are also a few vegetarian dishes. We'll definitely come back.

Very poor service, disinterested and not attentive. I had to get my drink myself because the service was on a break. Salad on a plate with a piece sticking out. Medallions overcooked and therefore dry. When paying, he no longer knew what we had had. Once but never again.

I also can't understand the high ratings! I was served the WORST WIENERSCHNITZEL of my life here last night. Schnitzel unseasoned, breading firm, dark brown and burnt! The complaint and another schnitzel didn't help either. It was light, but also unseasoned and had a firm breading. The waiter was very friendly, very good service! But I can't recommend ZAHM for eating out. SHAME!!!

Staff is polite, nice, attentive, always with a smile, thank you! Food in detail: + good quality of the tagliatelle + the tagliatelle with mushroom cream sauce was very good - 1 portion was lukewarm the second was steaming hot. It was acceptable, both hot would of course have been better. + Cordon bleue very good, nice and tender - The 5th star for the meal was clearly the entrecote with fries. The consistency was okay, but the taste was very fat-heavy and visually pale, which was definitely a 3+ that day. I would go again, but then definitely try local Saarland specialties.

Good, fresh and homemade food, unobtrusively friendly service, reasonable prices for the high quality of what is on offer, we were very happy with our (random) choice of this restaurant today. We will be happy to come back on our next visit to Saarbrücken

Totally original in there! Pure Saarbrücken! Time stood still in a positive sense! Again and again! Tip: try the “Hooriga” stuffed! I liked the one with liver sausage a little more

Very nice restaurant with a down-to-earth cuisine. The selection is very diverse and the wine list is also impressive. We were there with a large group and everyone was thrilled. I especially liked the steak tartare and the crème brûlée. The service was friendly and everything was clean and well maintained.

Had veal liver with apple and mashed potatoes, it was very tasty and the liver was very tender.

The best address on the market in SB for mussel eating in season. But the rest, such as the delicious Boudin Noir and much more, are always worth an evening at Zahm. Gladly again at any time 🤤

What a pleasant surprise in Saarbrücken! Traveling from France to Berlin, we were looking for a good dinner and were not disappointed. This fish soup! The moules! The wine! Everything was perfect. Furthermore, wonderful and very friendly service and fair prices. No, I'm not in the habit of photographing my food, so you'll have to take my word for it - or try it yourself. We would love to go back (perhaps as non-smokers 😉). Thank you very much!

I really liked the Gasthaus Zahm on Saarstrasse in Saarbrücken. Since it is directly opposite the Saargentur, where I often go, I also go to the Zahm guesthouse from time to time. The food is good there and I particularly like the menu there. I like to eat “Saarland dishes”, or home cooking, which is always excellent there. I particularly enjoyed the fish soup and the sausage salad with fried potatoes!

Look no further. You will be very welcome, and even in French. ;) The catering is excellent. Steak cooked correctly, blood sausages excellent and kidneys that will knock your stomach on the ground. Average price €20/€25 per dish. With even an extra plate of salad to accompany the steak and kidneys. Thank you again for this good time.

We happily waited about 40 minutes for a table, the food we ordered didn't come in the order, the meat was well cooked, the sauce was minimal and the reordering of the sauce was charged at €3.50. Only the snails were worth the €. Unfortunately not anymore

Ordered fish soup and chicken with morel sauce. Potatoes don't taste like potatoes, chicken doesn't taste like potatoes, morel sauce has no mushrooms or flavor. Fish soup doesn't taste like fish, mostly mussels because it's the cheapest. Total failure!

Can't understand the positive reviews. Unfortunately my cell phone had no battery left, otherwise I would have taken photos of the food and the toilet. In the end I decided not to use it as it looked. I had a goat cheese brulee with a salad bouquet. Carelessly done; Not only did it look unappetizing, it tasted that way too. The leaf lettuce is also comby. Since I was invited to dinner, I didn't make a scene. Otherwise I wouldn't have held back. The service wasn't particularly good either, the waiting times were forever. Since I also had indigestion, I will no longer go to this restaurant and can't recommend it to anyone.

Unfortunately my first and last visit to this restaurant. Service was still ok, even if something was forgotten in between, but we tried hard! Re: However, the food was a disappointment. I had a cordon bleu which was unfortunately extremely small for the price and also dry. No cheese, even a hint of it, the fries were dark and tasted like old fat. Maybe just a bad day, but that was nothing!

I can't understand all the positive reviews about this restaurant. This was by far the worst schnitzel I have ever eaten. The fries and the schnitzel tasted as if they had been fried in old fat. The quantity itself was okay, but the ratio of fries to schnitzel wasn't right. We were there in a small group and had to wait forever for the drinks, Then half the drinks were forgotten. We waited forever for the food. The neighboring tables received their food much faster. The only positive thing was the nice waiter. So it was the first and last visit

The Gasthaus Zahn was built in an old inn from 1911, which was also managed by Mr. Zahn. It is best to imagine the two temporal inns (1911-2024) as a kind of vortex, or for example a Rayleigh-Taylor instability. This can be seen as a mushroom-shaped protrusion of the liquids into one another (Becker/Bruch) or when milk is added to a cup of tea.

Social gathering, late lunch. Excellent dishes, served after a dozen or so minutes, so quite quickly. The lady serving was very polite, she spoke German and English. The table arrangement was quite loose, but the couple sitting next to us were too close to our table, which was not very comfortable for both them and us.

The venison steak was on point, rosy - tender and instead of croquettes I was able to enjoy Hoorisch. Great value for money. I would love to come back

The food was delicious and perfect portion. The ladies serving there were very nice and spoke English very well. The atmosphere was quaint. The restaurant itself is small so not good for a big party.

I was a guest at “Zahm” for the first time. The quality of the food was excellent - I had the Cordon Bleu with fries. Unfortunately, the general trend in restaurants has also been confirmed there - portions are simply becoming smaller. Unfortunately I didn't really get full, even though it was really tasty.

Recommendation also to non-Saarlanders. In addition to French-inspired cuisine, there are also typical Saarland specialties, just like grandma used to cook them.

I had a wonderful evening at Zahm today. The food was delicious and not to mention the service! The red-haired waitress was able to help us with our wine selection, was extremely accommodating and gave us a lovely evening. Thank you! We ate at Zahm for the second time today and certainly NOT the last time. We noticed the first 18-year-old Philip in the service in an absolutely positive way. We hadn't made a reservation and were asked to go into the next room. After our order, we wished that our waitress Philip could go back to the dining room as soon as two seats became available. After a few minutes we were asked into the guest room. According to his own statement, Philip has actually only been working in the service department for 2 years and earns pocket money there. We felt noticed and served significantly better than we were used to from much older waitresses in other locations with significantly more service experience. Little things that round off the positive picture, such as wiping the table after the guest has eaten because the guest still wants to enjoy his bottle of wine & relighting the candle, which has now gone out, round off the positive picture of the service in the inn. The food came in a reasonable time and was even tasty. We'll be back, probably & hopefully we'll be served by Philip again. In any case, at his young age he is a gem for the catering service. The boss is lucky to have such a capable, young, attentive employee working for him. Keep it up dear Philip. Good service staff should stay on the ball so that they can become even better.

We have enjoyed coming here for many years, perhaps the chef has changed, in any case, the atmosphere is very cozy as always, the service is friendly, but unfortunately the food leaves a lot to be desired. The four of us just had dinner. The meal went like this, unfortunately the cook had completely forgotten the salt. The price/performance ratio is modest. The service is a bit slow and not attentive. The restaurant has better days behind it, everything seems worn out. The worst thing: the restaurant smells extremely like cooking. We left the restaurant after an hour and the clothes can now go to the dry cleaners.

The restaurant and its range of dishes seemed tempting, not run-of-the-mill dishes, but something from the region. Unfortunately we found it a bit unloving and the food was just good average. A few craft improvements can increase satisfaction for the future. In any case, the conditions did their best!

Wie hatten Weihnachtsfeier beim Gasthaus Zahm. Zu Essen bestellte ich das Gemüsecurry. Es war das schlechteste Curry was ich jemals gegessen habe. Das Curry schmeckte nur pfeffrig und bestand hauptsächlich aus Sellerie und einer Möhre. Der Chinaimbiss um die Ecke bereitet ein leckereres Curry zu als das Gasthaus Zahm. Warenwert des Currys max. ca. 5 bis 6 Euro und Preis 18 Euro. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt in diesem Restaurant nicht!

Das Essen war lecker,auf meine Knoblauchallergie wurde reagiert. Die Bedienung sehr freundlich. Wir waren zu viert das Essen der anderen war auch lecker. Das Ambiente etwas altbacken für meinen Geschmack. Aber wir kommen wieder,alles andere hat gepasst.✌️🍀

Tolles Restaurant in der Altstadt Saarbrücken,dicht am St. Johannes Markt gelegen. Ein schönes Ambiente lädt zum Verweilen ,Essen,Lachen ,Trinken ein. Egal ob Vorspeise ,Hauptgang oder Dessert.. ein Traum...auf den Punkt ubd mit Liebe gemacht. Nicht zu verachten sind auch die Nachspeisen von herzhaft bis amüsant süß. Eine schöne feine kleine Auswahl an Weinen unterstreicht das Ganze. Der Service war toll,zuvorkommend und mega freundlich,die Jungs hatten Alles,aber wirklich Alles im Blick ,sehr bemüht,nicht aufdringlich ,aber aufmerksam. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. Herzlichen Dank für diese schöne Zeit....

Das Gasthaus Zahm ist ein kleines gemütliches Restaurant, das zum verweilen einlädt. Wir haben vorzüglich gespeist in einem schönen Ambiente, leicht rustikal angehaucht mit super Service und gutem Essen. Die Speisen waren vorzüglich und auf den Punkt verarbeitet und ein wahrer Hochgenuss. Es gab eine Auswahl an Köstlichkeiten, bei denen man sich nur schwer entscheiden konnte, da sie alle sehr lecker klangen. Wir hatten Lamm, Lachs, Miesmuscheln und einen Nierenteller sowie eine Vorspeise mit Schnecken. Diese Mahlzeiten waren alle sehr lecker und schnell am Tisch. Die Dessert Karte ist klein und übersichtlich und hat vorzüglich gemundet. Der Kaffee und die Weine waren vorzüglich und passen perfekt zum Essen. Der Service war herausragend. Obwohl das Haus voll war, waren die Servicekräfte sehr bemüht, herzlich und sehr engagiert da keine Wünsche offen. Wir können das Gasthaus nur wärmstens empfehlen und werden bei Gelegenheit gerne wieder dort speisen. Die Preise sind akzeptabel und selbst für einen schmalen Geldbeutel findet man hier auch etwas, damit man satt wird. Daher würde ich das Gasthaus Zahm uneingeschränkt empfehlen und freue mich schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch.

Ich wurde Anfang Juni bei einem Tagesausflug nach Saarbrücken von einem ehemaligen Saarbrücker auf dieses Restaurant hingewiesen und folgte dessen Tipp - zum Glück - das "Steak Tatar" (zum ersten Mal habe ich Tatar mit Pommes frites gegessen) schmeckte fantastisch, ebenso der Beilagensalat und die Oliven vorneweg. Das naturtrübe Zwickelbier ergänzte das leckere Essen perfekt. Die Bedienung war auch sehr freundlich. Gerne wieder! Nachdem ich dann die Rezensionen gelesen hatte und auf die "XXX"-Schikanen aufmerksam gemacht wurde, war das Gasthaus mir noch sympathischer geworden - schade, dass man keine 10 Sterne vergeben kann! Meine Rezension wurde seinerzeit von Google nicht gepostet, was ich aber erst jetzt (5 Monate später) mitbekommen habe! "XXX" steht übrigens für den Namen einer "Rechtsaußen-Partei", den zu nennen offenbar ein "Regelverstoß" war...!!!

Wir waren zum ersten Mal durch Zufall im Gasthaus Zahm und haben Rinderbäckchen gegessen,das Fleisch war so Butter zart das man kein Messer dafür benötigte. Wir waren nicht zum letzten Mal da.

Freundliche Mitarbeiter und sehr gutes Essen. Sehr zu empfehlen. War das erste mal hier, wird aber mit Sicherheit wiederholt.

Essen hat den erweckten Anspruch der Karte nur teilweise geschafft, lag aber wohl auch an meiner Erwartung wenn auf dem Schild elsässisch/lothringisch/französische Küche steht: Gruß aus der Küche, eingelegte Oliven mit Weißbrot passt, mein Essen: frittierte Fischlein sehr gut, Sülze sehr gut, Kartoffeln dazu nicht ganz (scheint aber saarländisches Thema zu sein, dass Bratkartoffeln aus schwäbischer Sicht Schwenkkartoffeln sind ;-)), Essen meiner Frau: Schweinelendchen waren leider überbraten (trocken), das muss nicht sein, Salat war gut. Ansonsten: Service junge Leute mit lockerer Art, ist für mich ok, Hatten Gelegenheit die Arbeitsabläufe in der Küche akustisch und tw. visuell mit zu bekommen, war witzig aber professionell ausbaufähig und eventuell auch die Ursache für die überbratenen Lendchen. Summa Summarum: Preis-Leistung stimmt, nette junge Leute, die sicher noch besser werden.

Una comida super alemana, y riquísima. Yo me tomé unas patatas con Kraut y salsa de bacon espectaculares. Además el sitio es agradable y te tratan muy bien.

Long Story short.. wir waren in der Brauerei um die Ecke (mit Tischreservierung!!) haben aber nach über 20 min. warten, ohne bedient zu werden, das Weite gesucht und sind hier gelandet, Gottseidank! Selten solch freundliche Kellner gesehen, ein tolles Team! Das Essen war sehr lecker und auch zügig am Tisch, obwohl hier kein Tisch länger als 3 Minuten frei war. Wir hatten Glück im Unglück, vielen Dank 😊

War spontan mit zwei Freundinnen in Saarbrücken Schönes Lokal

Muscheln mit Pommes, hat sehr gut geschmeckt, grosse Portion. Nettes Ambiente und freundlicher Service.

In einer schmalen Altstadtgasse haben wir hier ein sommerliches Ambiente im Aussenbereich gefunden. Wir wurden freundlichst bedient. Die Matjesheringe waren butterzart.

Superbe resto avec des plats traditionnels allemand. Le Schnitzel peut être commandé en version réduite si vous avez pas très faim et est toujours servi avec un assortiment des salades et frites Le personnel est très sympa

Wir hatten heute einen ganz tollen Abend, mit sehr leckerem Essen und einem erstklassigen Service. Sollten wir nochmal in Saarbrücken sein, kommen wir gerne wieder vorbei. Vielen Dank

La serveuse sympa ! Par contre, nous avons attendu très longtemps. Le cordon bleu était bon mais trop cuit. J’ai vraiment bien aimé le tartare au couteau.
