Wir waren zum Mittagstisch da. Leckeres, bodenständiges Essen! Service sehr nett und schnell. Schönes, rustikales Ambiente. Was will man mehr?

Der Fohlenhof befindet sich in einem historischen Gebäude der ehemaligen Schlossanlage und bietet ein rustikales, gemütliches Ambiente. Auf der Speisekarte stehen vor allem deutsche, kroatische und Balkan-Spezialitäten sowie verschiedene Grill- und Fleischgerichte. Bestellt wurden die Schweinemedaillons „Diplomat“ mit Jägersauce, Bratkartoffeln und Brokkoli. Das Gericht war eine klassische, herzhafte Kombination und insgesamt eine gute Wahl. Besonders das historische Ambiente macht den Besuch zu etwas Besonderem. Ein empfehlenswertes Restaurant für alle, die deftige Küche in einem besonderen Umfeld mögen.

Immer wieder erstklassig! Hier stimmt einfach alles! Tolle Qualität der Speisen, große Portionen, schönes Salatbuffet, freundlicher Service und am Ende gibt es noch einen Julischka.

Meine Frau und ich waren dort gestern Essen, und sind noch immer sehr begeistert. Essen sehr gut. Service auch sehr nett und freundlich. Die Damen waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Meine Familie und ich hoffen, dass diese Rückmeldung als konstruktive Kritik verstanden wird. Wir kamen nämlich immer sehr gerne. Wir waren an einem Feiertag hier essen und waren enttäuscht, da die Qualität des Essens im Vergleich zu früher nachgelassen hat. Besonders unangenehm war die Situation am Salatbuffet. Der Grillmeister hat Mitarbeiter so laut angeschrien, dass es selbst für uns als Gäste nicht zu überhören war. Ich habe den Kellner sogar gefragt, ob ein solcher Umgang bei Ihnen normal sei. Auch die Gäste neben unserem Tisch haben das Verhalten wahrgenommenen und darüber gesprochen, dass der laute "Streit" bereits zuvor durchs Restaurant zu hören gewesen sei. Insgesamt überlegen wir daher, ob sich ein Besuch bei Ihnen künftig noch genauso lohnt wie früher

Ich war am Muttertag mit meiner Mama dort essen. An sich gelungener Mittag. Jedoch gab es bedauerlicherweise während unseres Besuchs im unteren Bereich eine lautstarke Auseinandersetzung bzw. ein sehr missliches Verhalten eines Mitarbeiters? Wir haben die Situation beobachtet und fanden, dass das die Atmosphäre gestört hat und war für uns nicht schön mitanzuhören. Totales No-Go. Gerade an einem Feiertag hätte man sich gewünscht, dass so eine Situation vom Chef unterbunden und allgemein ruhiger gehandhabt wird. Ansonsten war der Besuch eigentlich gut. Nur das Geschreie war wirklich unangebracht. Das Essen war lecker und der Service sehr nett. Aufgrund der Situation wissen wir nicht ob wir nochmal wiederkommen. Empfehlen aber trotzdem weiter.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut und hat uns geschmeckt. Auch der Service war freundlich und hat trotz etwas Wartezeit/Stress einen tollen Job gemacht. Die Wartezeit selbst war noch im Rahmen und für uns kein großes Problem. Allerdings wurde der positive Eindruck leider stark überschattet, weil der Chef an der Theke eine Frau lautstark angeschrien/zurechtgewiesen hat. Das war für alle Gäste deutlich hörbar und äußerst unangenehm. So etwas sollte niemals vor Gästen stattfinden, sondern intern und hinter verschlossenen Türen geklärt werden. Die Situation wirkte sehr unprofessionell (ich selbst bin in der Gastronomie berufstätig) und hat uns den Aufenthalt leider negativ in Erinnerung behalten lassen. Schade, denn das Lokal und das Essen hätten eigentlich eine bessere Bewertung verdient.

Service sehr nett und flott unterwegs. Salatbuffet wie immer sehr lecker und gute Auswahl. Egal ob Leber, PolaPola, Raznijci oder Grillteller, sehr lecker, gut gebraten und nicht trocken. Eine telefonische Reservierung ist notwendig, da immer ausgebucht. Immer wieder gerne..

Sehr uriges schönes Ambiente. Sehr sehr fairer Wirt. Äußerst leckere gute Cevapcici. Preis Leistungsverhältnis auch gut. Alle ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Und zum Abschluss gibt es noch einen leckeren Julischka. Man sollte am Freitag und Samstag reservieren, weil es sehr gut besucht ist. Zusätzlicher Kommentar: heute, Dienstag auch sehr gut besucht, also besser immer reservieren. Heute Pljescavia gegessen, auch ausgesprochen lecker. Absolute Empfehlung

Wer keine Angst vor großen Portionen hat, ist hier richtig. Allen anderen empfehle ich, sich ein Gericht zu teilen. Von den klassischen Balkan-Tellern werden locker Zwei satt.

We ate there with a large group on Christmas Day. We were greeted warmly, and despite the restaurant being full, the service was friendly and efficient. They kept checking if everything was alright and if we wanted more drinks. The food was delicious 😋 and the portions were more than generous. We'd gladly come again.

This used to be our regular haunt. I celebrated my 50th birthday there today with 36 people. The table arrangement wasn't as agreed. Consequently, we were crammed together like sardines. Unfortunately, a party sitting next to us decided to turn the music up so loud that you couldn't hear yourself think. As a result, many of my guests left the party early. We asked the owner to take care of adjusting the music volume. Apparently, they were his friends, because he said, "There's nothing I can do about it!" Today was definitely our last visit there. The owner seems to have lost touch with reality. It's a real shame.

I went out to eat with a friend on August 17, 2025. As always, everything was excellent: top-notch food and top-notch staff, except for a large group of men and women who were behaving incredibly badly. However, the proprietor immediately arranged for other guests to continue eating in peace. Thanks to the Fohlenhof team for always making you feel at home.

We were satisfied customers for years – until the owner changed. Since the old owner left the restaurant, we were never given a particularly friendly welcome on several visits. We recently reserved a table for about 30-40 people. Later, we called again and informed them that we would only be coming with about 20-25 people. Once we arrived, ordered our food and drinks, and waited for our platters. After about an hour of waiting, however, we were asked to leave the restaurant – with the explanation that we were three people short of the stated number. We had explicitly stated that we would be coming with about 20-25 people, and that was exactly the number that was reached. After our negative Google review, we were discriminated against with the statement "gypsy calculation." We feel our dignity was violated and have filed a complaint for discrimination.

Not recommended Your choice of words in your response to my review, especially the expression 'gypsy calculation,' hurt me deeply. I am Sinto, and this term has been a derogatory insult for my ethnic group for centuries, associated with discrimination, exclusion, and suffering. It is absolutely disrespectful to react to a guest in this way. I feel discriminated against and degraded by it. I expect professional and respectful treatment from a restaurant owner – regardless of origin or identity. I sincerely hope that you reconsider your choice of words and refrain from discriminatory expressions in the future. Guests should feel welcome, not insulted.

Highly recommended!!! A very good restaurant...live charcoal grill, great salad bar, and the food is delicious. A hidden gem: the aioli with olives and bread—I've rarely tasted anything so delicious. A very friendly welcome and great service...keep it up!!!!

We went there as a family and ordered several platters. After waiting for an hour, we were shouted at and thrown out because other family members had arrived (there were about 20 of us in total). The order was "too small" for the number of people, even though the rest of the family who came along didn't take their orders! And we weren't even asked if we wanted to order something. On top of that, the tone of the staff was rude, but the BOSS was the absolute worst. I have never been treated so badly and disrespectfully in a restaurant! Even though we have been there several times and you always noticed that you are not welcome, this time it was just a bad joke.

I've rarely experienced such unfriendly staff! You're treated like a third-class citizen, and the food gets worse every year. I don't recommend it!

Never experienced anything like this before!!!! We were there with 20 people, and they let us order, made us wait for an hour, and then kicked us out because our order was "too small." The tone of voice from the boss was absolutely disgusting, so I absolutely do not recommend it! If I could give negative stars, I would have.

Long-time regulars were kicked out today when the place was full. Called today and asked if they had room for 30-40 people – ultimately, they agreed on 25. Reservations were made for 25 people, but 21 showed up. Orders were made for 25 people anyway. After the drinks arrived, everyone suddenly left the restaurant without discussion or any reasonable discussion. The waitress and owner were like furies. As I said, everything went well for years. The owner will definitely get in touch afterward and, as with every negative review, seek some kind of explanation.

We've been sitting here for an hour and politely asked if we'd still get our food. Then the owner or chef, who didn't introduce himself, came to our table and instead of apologizing, stood in front of us in a very threatening manner and said it was Mother's Day and we'd be lucky if we got anything to eat at all. He could also cancel our order. This caused us to leave the restaurant empty-handed. I have to say, I've never been treated so rudely. You should read the restaurant manager's responses to critical posts. They're all very "interesting." I've never treated a server rudely because I have great respect for their performance. The service was friendly and attentive. Only the manager was rude.

Disastrous experience! Not only were we left waiting 1.5 hours for our food - it was obvious we were intentionally passed over as we politely asked and guests around us got their food and left. Not only were we ignored, but we were also shouted at loudly and rudely when we asked again! I have never experienced such a lack of respect and professionalism. Today, about two years later, we were back at the Fohlenhof Essen. My assessment from back then still applies today. Here you can enjoy really good food and the ambience while the staff takes care of you.

Very very friendly staff. They're really on their toes there. The food was delicious and it didn't take too long to arrive, even though it was very busy. You can get the side salad yourself and choose what you want and what you don't want. On weekends it is better to reserve in advance. The furnishings are a bit older, but that also brings with it a certain charm. Addendum: We were able to celebrate two big events there and were once again totally thrilled. Every wish is fulfilled and it is always delicious.

Christmas dinner with the whole family. We were greeted with information about how many guests were in the restaurant at that moment. The food was good; there was nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately, the children, who only ordered fries, were the last to get their food. And even though their orders were checked three times, they brought one too many! When it came to dessert, everything went haywire. A scoop of ice cream with raspberries, which the lady told them wasn't possible... Two people got a no, the third got it! One dessert wasn't brought at all, despite repeated reminders. One of the children didn't even get the ice cream he ordered! Afterwards, the manager complained about our private conversations. As the word suggests, it's private. And if the staff is listening and overhears something that wasn't meant for their ears, you can't complain afterward that we complained to them! To top it all off... we would have been disrespectful to the staff! No one... absolutely none of the more than 20 people were rude or disrespectful! For me personally, it was my first and last time there. I wouldn't recommend it!

For family reasons I was in Hadamar for a few days and became aware of the restaurant. I went there for dinner on a Friday evening without a reservation and was assigned a seat. The atmosphere is very cozy and rustic. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I ordered a schnitzel with hollandaise sauce, fried champions and French fries. There is a salad bar where you can put together your favorite salads. The selection is large and the salad is always fresh. My main course was very delicious. The schnitzel was large, tender and had a great breading. The fries were nice and crispy, the hollandaise sauce and the mushrooms were simply delicious. The restaurant would definitely be my favorite restaurant if it wasn't 700 kilometers away from my home. I therefore suggest opening a Fohlenhof restaurant in Flensburg. Thank you for the great food, ambience and hospitality.

We chanced upon this lovely place when driving from Frankfurt to Cologne. The place has a beautiful interior. The service was good as the staff were friendly! There was also a salad buffet bar and it was very tasty. The food was incredibly delicious, and so was the dessert! I really like this place because it was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise of good vibes, great service and amazing food!

We had a great stay in Hadamar with family. We ate at the Fohlenhof restaurant. The food was extremely good. The owners, waiters and kitchen staff are super friendly, feels like a little family when you're there 😊 Highly recommended!

Tasty food and plenty of nice staff would be happy to come back again

The staff is very friendly and quick too. Inside it is very nice and quiet. The outside area, on the other hand, is a disaster. The chairs and tables are from the camping department, the outside area is almost on the street and there is a footpath about 1 meter from the seat. So when you sit and eat, people walk right past you, so the 50cm high wall is no use. The food is good and reasonable for the price.

We were there for the umpteenth time this evening. I ordered grilled sirloin and my husband ordered liver. My meat was absolutely tough. I complained at the counter and the manager came to tell me the meat had been on the grill too long. But we were able to watch the grill the whole time we were there, there was no meat on the grill, we were sitting directly opposite. The meat was definitely not freshly grilled. The boss cheekily claimed that we couldn't watch the grill at all, took the plate and hissed off. I got a new meal and it was great. We cannot understand how justified and understandable criticism can be handled so poorly. There is a board outside, in front of the entrance, that says you should treat the waiters in a friendly manner, how would it be if the staff (boss) treated the guests in a friendly manner. We've been to the Fohlenhof so many times, always happy, but today was a day to break the habit. PS: I just read your answer. :-( I'm really at a loss for words. As in the restaurant, as here, no insight. The boss repeatedly claimed that the meat was on the charcoal grill (even though I saw that the grill was empty), why didn't she immediately tell the truth but lie to us? Shame on you, misrepresentation of what happened.

Today we had dinner again at the Fohlenhof in Hadamar. Great atmosphere, super friendly and fast service staff. And of course the food stands out very positively. There is no longer any comparison to the old operators. Keep it up, of course we'll be back 😎✌️

Vor einem Konzertbesuch im Ort hatten wir hier einen Tisch reserviert. Das und die durchgeführten Änderungen unserer Reservierung funktionierten unkompliziert und schnell. Vor Ort wuselte das freundliche Personal im vollständig gefülten Restaurant hin und her, Bestellungen wurden schnell aufgenommen und Getränke und Essen zeitnah serviert. Geschmeckt hat es uns auch, es war zwar nicht überragend, aber umfangreich, gut und günstig.

We were there for the first time yesterday and it was great. Nice hostess, nice restaurant. You were allowed to help yourself at the salad bar, the salad and sauce were very tasty and fresh. The main course was also great in terms of taste 👍, well seasoned, the meat was super grilled and still tender, 10 points for that, the fries were nice and crunchy and the Djuvec rice was also good.
