Restaurant El Sombrero in Göppingen

The food tasted quite good, but was very carelessly prepared. Our starter came after 10 minutes, our main course unfortunately came just 5 minutes later. There was hardly any time to eat the food in peace. In addition, our cocktails only came after the main course after we asked a waiter about them. The waiter apologized at the end, but all in all I wouldn't eat there again. Maybe it was the stress of Valentine's Day, but unfortunately I felt like I was in a mass processing situation because new guests were arriving every hour. We weren't thrown out, but the inconvenience still made it feel a little like we wanted quantity rather than quality.

The restaurant has a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere. The burger was really tasty and the fries were good too. For anyone looking for a good meal in a relaxed environment, this restaurant is recommended.

Always worth a visit. Good cocktails at fair prices. In a positive sense, special staff who ensure a good mood.

We have been here several times, on different occasions, with different groups of people, with and without a dog, at different times..... Every time everything was great. Great food. Nice conversations with the boss and service staff. Highly recommended if you want to have a cozy and well-groomed meal.

We were a guest last night and were very enthusiastic, very friendly and courteous service, very tasty food and very large portions. The cocktails were also really tasty, highly recommended.

Unfortunately, the food at the buffet wasn't really warm...

We were there last Saturday. The staff is very friendly, quick and attentive. The food was great across the board except for my corn on the cob. Unfortunately, it was forgotten and came out lukewarm on the outside and ice cold in the middle. When the plates were cleared I mentioned this and said it wasn't that bad, it could happen. I finished it and didn't expect anything. When a chocolate cake with a liquid center arrived, we were thrilled. Then it tasted great. In addition, the corn on the cob was not calculated. Always my pleasure. Thank you for the lovely evening. P.S. the atmosphere is very cozy and makes you feel good.

A highly recommended store! Food is always on point and has been for what feels like 15 years. The staff is also very accommodating and nice, it's best to get your own opinion on it, I don't think anyone will regret it 😊✌🏽

We were there on "All you can eat" Thursday. Once and never again...there was hardly any choice, the containers were almost all empty and not refilled. What was there was cold. Unfortunately it didn't taste good either. For 25€ it's a shame. My companion wasn't feeling so well afterwards either. Ambiance: unfortunately run down. Apparently nothing at all has been done since Mauritius was in there. I expect more flair from a Mexican restaurant. The cocktails were good and the owner is nice and can sell well...but we had to wait 20-30 minutes for the drinks. All in all we were unfortunately disappointed. Could really do better.

I went with a friend because she said it was her favorite Mexican restaurant, I decided to order some tacos, and what they served me were 3 chicken flautas with rice and beans that cost almost €20!!! And they had absolutely nothing for tacos. If you are going to say that you serve tacos on your menu, at least make sure to serve real tacos, since I believe that only a stupid person would think that what they are serving are tacos.

Das El Sombrero in Göppingen konnte mich leider nicht überzeugen. Das Ambiente wirkte eher trist und könnte für ein mexikanisches Restaurant definitiv lebendiger und landestypischer gestaltet sein. Die Bedienung hingegen war freundlich und engagiert, was für eine angenehme Atmosphäre sorgte. Zu den Cocktails kann ich zwar nichts sagen, da ich sie nicht probiert habe, aber sie machen zumindest einen ordentlichen Eindruck. Zum Essen: Wir hatten eine gemischte Platte, die jedoch leider enttäuschte. Das Hühnchen war extrem trocken, die Bohnenpaste fade, und der Reis hatte durch ein sehr säuerliches Salatdressing einen unangenehmen Beigeschmack. Außerdem war das gesamte Essen kalt und insgesamt grenzwertig ungenießbar vor allem für das Geld. Insgesamt ein Besuch, der leider vor allem wegen des Essens nicht zum Wiederholen einlädt.

Absolutely recommended. Great service, very nice staff. The food is delicious and always worth a visit. Price performance is completely right. If you don't always want the same food, this is the place for you. And the cocktails are also one of the best I know in the area.

We were there once and that was enough. The atmosphere is run down, all the work is handed over to the guest, menu only as a QR code, no card payment. I spend good money in a restaurant and don't want to have to go to the bank to find out that I have to deal with QR codes first. I imagine a nice evening differently, especially for a run-of-the-mill meal. I wonder why the store still exists. Also interesting are the many good reviews, which sound more like the many bought reviews on Amazon than personal impressions.

Large restaurant, plenty of space for two or large groups indoors and outdoors. Nice music, stylish ambience. The food is received quickly and friendly. It also comes quickly, is hot and tasty. Just Tex-Mex cuisine. The price-performance ratio is perfectly fine and the portions are large. You will be asked if it tastes good, if you would like hot sauce or salt and pepper shakers. You're welcome to say what you're missing, like a delicious cocktail. Anyone who expects star cuisine like Paul Bocuse once delivered has to go to a star restaurant, where the price level is logically different. Here you can sit comfortably, alone, as a couple or in a group, and enjoy a lovely evening and good food with friendly, quick and simply nice service.

Sympathetic waiters and delicious Mexican food!

Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time until we got our first (and only) drinks for the evening, then none of the service staff showed up, so we sat for an hour with empty glasses until someone came to collect the money because it spontaneously closed at 10 p.m should be ? Sorry but that doesn't work at all!!!

We were in the area as guests and came here for dinner. The staff and the boss were extremely friendly and took perfect care of everything throughout. The food was super tasty and the portions were absolutely perfect, so you can eat a starter, a main course and a dessert (but you do need to be hungry for that). All in all, a big recommendation!

The food is good, but portions could be a bit larger for the price. The service is very nice, but sometimes obviously a bit stressed. What is still missing in the new location is the Mexican flair. Otherwise there is a nice outdoor area and good parking options.

Unfortunately the food was absolutely poorly prepared. Two dishes at the neighboring table also went back into the kitchen! Service is overwhelmed and has to look up a lot of things on the menu first. Prices have also been raised considerably. Unfortunately you can't give 2 points for that!

Tex-Mex cuisine with too much cumin in every dish. It's okay, but it doesn't blow me away and that's exactly why I wouldn't come back. Loveless plate language with some plates that are much too small for the portions, the tables are quite small if there are four of you and I missed the Mexican flair. The staff tried very hard to look after the guests, professionals! There is more, there is room for improvement!

I was there for the first time on Thursday evening. We all enjoyed the food wonderfully. The waiters are very friendly, especially super nice to children. I was there with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. And even if it's a long journey for me, I like to come back to eat. Kind regards, Heike

We spent almost 100 EUR for 3 people with cocktails and the food was never worth that money! It may be that they are clean and make an effort, but bean mouse with rice Always as a side dish.. Chicken wings with corn on the cob, the dough rolls with spinach filling were definitely frozen spinach, dipped in fat and fried, you can say... too hard!!! Dough with leek and shrimp also had no taste... There were no more than three or four shrimps in it!! The other stuffed dough with beef was so-so.. Wasted money for me... cocktails 0815 more ice cream than anything else.. there I'd rather go to the nearest Swabian home-style food or an Italian restaurant... have more of those... it's a shame

I used to go to the old location more often and it was always great, yesterday I was in the new location for the first time and I was really excited 😊 Food was super delicious as always 😉 Staff were super nice and friendly, they kept asking if everything was OK and we need something else. I've been to the old location several times in the past and found it good, but now the new one is a lot better in terms of the size of the ambience. We even had the feeling that the food and cocktails were better than before. So you have won us back as guests 🫶 The waiters keep coming and asking if everything is ok and if you need anything else. The sole and only point of contact for good Mexican food in Göppingen for years. El Sombrero has been around for an estimated 25 years and the quality of the food remains at a good level. Absolutely fair price. The portions are quite large and deliciously prepared. Cocktail lovers will also get their money's worth here. I was recently shocked by the news that El Sombrero had closed. Luckily the location was changed and you can still eat Mexican food. I still wish you all the best for the new location.

The service is good, you can ask questions and get answers. If the main courses in Mexico are served exactly like this on the plate, then it's okay! However, in Swabia you don't score any points with this kind of "eye candy"; even "Kässpätzle" comes in a more orderly manner! I would suggest putting a little more love and creativity into the process of presenting the dishes, maybe there is still room for improvement?! The rest was really nice and you felt comfortable too.

A nice beach bar-style location with a large selection of good cocktails. The service was very friendly and present, but unfortunately the food only came after a very long wait (over an hour) and didn't look like it had taken an hour to serve. The food was OK, but not sensational. Absolutely recommended for drinking cocktails, I would rather eat somewhere else in the future...

After almost an hour we looked for the waiter to order drinks. The food came again 1 hour later. Unacceptable for us. You sit okay, the meat skewer was okay, the small, not fresh iceberg lettuce for over seven euros was really cheeky. Price-performance definitely doesn't work for me! You can't be hungry or thirsty, otherwise you'll despair.

The new location and ambience is sensational. Service staff, as always, super nice people, you can tell that they do it with love. I just have some suggestions for improving the food... The portions always look like they're slapped on, it's better to put them on the plate in portions, then it looks tastier and isn't completely mixed together... "Eat with your eyes". The vegetarian plate or something similar didn't look made with love, sorry. The dessert is great as always👍

Were there for the first time today, super nice staff, nice atmosphere and close to Goeppingen. Unfortunately I ordered something that I personally didn't like. The waiter took it really well and brought me a new plate with his recommendation and was super accommodating. I can really only give a thumbs up to the staff, they made us feel so comfortable! Ich war bereits früher am alten Standort schon öfter dort und immer zufrieden. Dies ist diesmal leider überhaupt nicht der Fall. Hatte den Rindfleischspiess und einen zusätzlichen Beilagensalat, dieser war auch wirklich gut. Der Spiess leider nicht, was vor allem am Fleisch gelegen hat. Dieses war total kalt, trocken und zäh. Ich würde behaupten das Fleisch war nicht frisch gebraten sondern aufgewärmt, worauf auch der komische Geschmack hindeutet. Beim servieren landete ein Teil der Zwiebel und Paprika auf dem Tisch, was auch daran liegt das der Spiess hängend serviert wird. Sicher werde ich es irgend wann mal wieder probieren dort zu essen, aber jetzt lassen wir die schlechte Erfahrung mal einige Monate hinter uns. Der Chef war wirklich bemüht und auch kritikfähig, von daher hoffe ich, dass er die Probleme in den Griff bekommt.

An unserem Platz hat es ein wenig streng gerochen. Das Essen war eindeutig zu wenig gewürzt und der Käse auf den Tortilla war trocken und hart. Leider keine authentische mexikanische Küche.

Hier fühlt man sich als Gast wohl und gewollt. Sehr netter Chef als sehr guter Gastgeber. Nettes Personal die auf Flott sind. Leckeres mexikanisches Essen sowie sehr leckere Cocktails zu einem fairen Preis.

Mein liebstes Restaurant! Tolle Cocktails, günstige Preise für riesige Portionen. Das Bohnenmus und die Salsa Fresca sind mega!! Und die Mitarbeiter sind sowieso die besten 😁

Eines meiner Lieblingsrestaurants! Hier gibt es sehr gute und günstige Cocktails und wirklich leckete, authentische mexikanische Speisen. Am Wochenende muss man aber reservieren, da das Sombreros sehr beliebt ist - das sagt doch schon alles! Das liegt nicht zuletzt an dem supernetten Team! Ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Cocktail!!

Nettes Team, aber leider sehr runtergerockter Laden. Es riecht nach Rauch. Das Essen ist zwar reichlich, aber leider matschiger Convenience-Produkt-Kram. Typisch mexikanische Gewürze wie Koriander oder Kreuzkümmel kennt man hier nicht und das Pico de Gallo verdient den Namen ganz bestimmt nicht.

Fahren von sehr weit dorthin. Mega essen mega freundlich. Das seit Jahren. Früher gab es noch samstags live Musik. Weiß nicht ob es heute noch so ist. Letzten März jedenfalls nicht. Gehen diesen Samstag wieder. Freu mich schon

Das Essen war vom Geschmack und Qualität hervorragend. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Der beste Mexikaner überhaupt. Wenn einem das Essen hier nicht schmeckt dann ist man nicht offen für andere Kulturen und Geschmäcker. Schlechte Bewertungen kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Das Essen war super wurde alles frisch zubereitet .Service ist sehr freundlich. Lokalität ist nur zu empfehlen .

Das Essen und der Service ist einfach Klasse. Vom geschmacklich und Qualität ist einfach spitze. Sie haben auch noch tolle Cocktails. An nichts hat es gefehlt. Wir kamen unangemeldet und haben ohne Probleme gleich Platz bekommen obwohl es ziemlich voll war. Manche meckern und jammern weil man sie nicht davor angerufen hat und zu reservieren. So muss es sein, einfach spontan.

Volle 5 Sterne für diese Mexikanische Resturant. Die Mix Platte hat alles drauf, was das Resturant anbietet, eben von jedem ebes. Personal bzw der Chef sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend uns hat es sehr Lecker Geschmeckt. Für 18.90€ kann man echt satt werden und der Geschmack - sehr Geil. Dazu bekommt man noch einen Dip der nach Mexikanischer Art echt sehr scharf ist. Also etwas vorsichtig sein. Wenn man also in Göppingen ist und gerade kein Montag oder Dienstag ist, da er zu hat, kann ich das Resturant sehr Empfehlen. Reservierung ist auch am Montag und Dienstag möglich.

Leckeres Mexikanisches Restaurant

Das El Sombrero kann man zu Recht als Institution in Göppingen betrachten. Als eines der wenigen mexikanischen Restaurants hat das El Sombrero das Ende des Hypes überlebt und wurde nicht durch eine Kette ersetzt. Das spricht für die Qualität des Essens und Service. Mein Tipp: Nachos Grande als Hauptgang!

War im groben und ganzen okay aber Verbesserungswürdig. Leider ist keine Kartenzahlung möglich, denke das wird aber seine Gründe haben?! Das Essen war okay aber da hat jeder eine andere Meinung dazu. Die Bedienung war top! Schön wenn es noch Menschen gibt die ihren Job gerne machen und das auch austrahlen :) Das Ambiente ist auf den ersten Blick eigentlich recht gemütlich aber doch sehr in die Jahre gekommen.
