Restaurant Edelweiss in Ahrensburg

The cheese fondue was incredibly delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive! We'd love to come back! Thank you for the wonderful evening!

Unfortunately, we can only confirm the two-year-old review. Positive: Ambience, staff...the overall first impression was really good. The bread and the dips beforehand were also truly delicious, and the thyme oil was divine. BUT: The real star of the evening, and the reason for our visit, was, in our eyes, a bitter disappointment. The first attempt at the cheese fondue was as thin as water. This was then corrected (however it was done), and afterward, at least the consistency was as it should be. But in terms of taste, it had absolutely nothing in common with a cheese fondue for us. It was much more reminiscent of a cheese substitute on a cheap frozen pizza. And then the side dishes... We are firmly convinced that everything was frozen ready-made. Chicken and beef meatballs, croquettes, dips, "vegetables"... everything on the table seemed like it came from a discount store. This is the first time we've ever left a meal. Unfortunately, it was a truly disappointing evening for us.

We ate at the Edelweiss restaurant last night. We had pre-ordered cheese fondue. Our reserved table was beautifully decorated and located by the fireplace. The restaurant is very tastefully furnished, and you immediately feel welcome. The waiter wasn't familiar with the wines. We ordered a Blanc de Blanc and later a Pinot Gris. The wine selection is limited but harmonious. Rindchen helped. First came the side dishes for the cheese fondue: mini meatballs made of beef and chicken. Unfortunately, they were a ready-made product. Mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, bread, artichokes, and a kind of potato ball. Everything looked delicious. There were also three sauces. Then came the cast iron pot with the cheese mixture. Unfortunately, it was a very runny cheese sauce. The taste was plain. So we ordered a new pot, which wasn't any better. The third one was less runny, but still didn't taste of cheese. That was nothing. The waiter wanted to help and brought us a cherry brandy on the house. Thank you. The other dishes on the menu sound promising, perhaps someone can comment on them. I had hoped for much more from a pre-ordered cheese fondue. What a pity.
