A super cozy restaurant with great service. The food took me right back to my childhood. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely stop by.

The food was delicious, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in this classic restaurant on the Old Rhine, the Bootshaus Fuchsbau, is simply lovely. The portion of schnitzel was also quite generous; my girlfriend and I would gladly come back again.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to give negative stars; this store deserves them. At these prices, you expect good quality and friendly service. Sadly, both were lacking.

Judging from the reviews, we must have just caught them on a really bad day. The food was presented very carelessly on the plate, the fries were neither crispy nor fresh, and some were even stale and very gummy, as was the feta cheese, which was lukewarm and served on cold toast. The service seemed quite stressed at times.

The best restaurant I've ever been to! I don't even know where to begin – with the food, the ambiance, or the staff? Everything is simply perfect! The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a smile and genuine warmth. The atmosphere is wonderful – modern yet cozy, with attention to detail and music that creates just the right mood. And the food… simply incredible! Every bite is a delight – fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. They explain each dish, offer great recommendations, and you immediately feel welcome, like a regular. The prices? More than fair for this quality and the entire experience. I'll definitely be back – highly recommended! ❤️🍷

True Croatian flavors, beautiful waterfront, hospitable service

We stopped in spontaneously on a Monday after a hike in the Kühkopf: a beautiful location, super friendly staff. It was schnitzel day, and I had a cooked cheese schnitzel with fries and a side salad – a dream! We'd love to come back!

We went for lunch on a Sunday. It was beautifully situated in a natural setting. Service was fast, despite being very busy. The food was delicious, the rump steak was cooked to perfection, and the salmon was equally so. Changing the side dish was no problem. The only downside is that they only accept cash. Unfortunately, for us, this always means a visit to the ATM beforehand. Otherwise, we would go there much more often.

A classic restaurant with classic food in a pleasant location on the Old Rhine, especially in summer. A bit hard to find. The hosts are very accommodating, and Mondays are schnitzel day. For those who prefer down-to-earth food, the Bootshaus could be an insider tip.

We went there for lunch for a birthday with a group of 16 people. The table in the adjoining room was beautifully set. We were surprised by the wonderful ambiance. The service was super friendly, and the food was delicious. Everything was freshly prepared, whether it was schnitzel or a mixed grill, it was truly excellent. We will definitely be back; highly recommended, even for larger parties.

We celebrated our wedding here on August 1, 2025. We couldn't have chosen a better location. Located directly on the Old Rhine, it's very quiet and idyllic. We had a singer and could be as loud as we wanted. The decor was done with a lot of love and joy. Our guests were thrilled; everything just worked out. The food was excellent. We would host another celebration here. Even our guests will be back for dinner. What's unfortunately missing here are one or two more vegetarian dishes on the menu. Highly recommended. We've become regulars.

We've always been satisfied so far; the location is stunning, the food is always delicious, and everyone is super nice and friendly, always fulfilling special requests. That's why we celebrated our wedding there, and it was incredibly beautiful, with everything prepared with so much love. We and our guests were all thrilled and completely satisfied. Some of our guests will also be returning. One small improvement would be to add one or two more vegetarian dishes to the menu.

We were there on Whit Saturday with a group of 10 people. Service was friendly and quick, but the food was completely oversalted. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it again. A shame! Update August 23: The food was okay, but for a watered-down large wine spritzer, €8,00, it's amazing. It stays at 3 stars... Update August 2025: The food is still abysmal, drinks lukewarm and completely overpriced, service silly and inflexible. That's it for now.

A very nice, small inn with a cozy beer garden to relax in. The service was super friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were delicious and the value was good. We'd love to come back!

We ate at the Fuchsbau with five adults and a three-year-old child. On the positive side: You can sit comfortably and quietly, with a great view of the Old Rhine. The rump steak was super tender and delicious, the minced steak stuffed with feta cheese was juicy and very flavorful. The cream sauce was very good and tasted fresh. The Djuvec rice tasted homemade and freshly prepared. Now the big but: When we asked if it was possible to bring the spaetzle for the hungry toddler BEFORE the main courses, we were rudely cut off. The kitchen's schedule simply didn't allow it. So far, everything was fine; it was busy. Later, during serving, the service was a bit too energetic, and some of the fries fell from one of our plates onto her top and pants and landed on the floor. The staff's response was only a cursory "sorry." When we asked for new fries, they responded with annoyance, and then about 10 individual fries in a bowl were practically thrown onto the table. (The side dish size was already very manageable beforehand.) The fries were perfectly fried, the schnitzel perfectly cooked – but both were unfortunately completely oversalted (even those who normally eat very salty food found this). Finally, we discovered that the small portion of spaetzle and the cream sauce served with it were charged at ten (!) euros (five euros each). This was about 100 grams of industrial spaetzle and a sauce boat of cream sauce... It's a real shame, as we've always been very satisfied with the food we've picked up in the past.

Beautifully located right on the Old Rhine. The hosts are friendly and the food is excellent. We were also lucky with the weather and were able to sit outside.

My husband and I come here often. Super delicious food, seasonal specials, schnitzel day... There's something for everyone. The people are so friendly that you immediately feel at home. Being right on the water with a lawn is incredibly beautiful in the summer, but the decor is also super cozy in the winter. A definite recommendation! :)

The food was OK, the value for money was OK, the portions were okay. The service was friendly. My food order was wrong, and I still had to pay the full price. The cashier was rude and then, before we were even out, she started talking to the staff about it in the local language. That's not how you keep customers! Plus, the restaurant wasn't full, and I waited 30 minutes for the food!

We stopped by spontaneously on a beautiful, sunny Friday. The terrace offers a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. The food was delicious, and I found the prices very, very reasonable—almost too reasonable. We simply gave the always friendly staff a generous tip to thank them for this pleasant stop. Had dinner there with my buddy. It's a bit hidden, but easy to find. The ambience is very nice. It is located on the shore, you can arrive by car or boat. Price performance was definitely right here. It was very tasty and definitely recommended. You can tell it was cooked with love. Service was very friendly and even kept us company. Definitely again 😊

Just look for the signs on the country road and you'll find it. Once found, the atmosphere is very nice and there is also a small river in sight. Will definitely eat there again😋👍🏽

Great place for a clever meal. The staff is very friendly and deals with special requests very flexibly. No matter whether inside or outside you always have a well-kept and clean atmosphere. You don't have to wait long for your food, whether you're with 3 or 10 people. You can't say anything about the price and the selection is great.

Went to the restaurant on February 16, 2024 for a funeral (of my mother) and I was very disappointed. Price performance ratio is not acceptable. I paid €531.80 for 15 people. This includes, among other things, a small Pljeskavica for €15.90 and a large one for €16.90, a grilled vegetable "Bonne Femme" (the portion size of which is a joke) for €15.90. The mourning community received coffee, cake, sandwiches and water for €32.21 per person. The agreed amount was around €22.00 per person. A place setting, it later turned out, included a piece of cake (6x6 cm), a baguette of bread with ham or cheese, a cup of coffee and water, everything else was charged as an extra. The cake was a piece of cheesecake or a piece of crumb cake (which was also the worst in the world, which also applies to the grilled vegetables). The portion of "Bonne Femme" was a joke, as every side salad is bigger. For me, the visit here turned out to be the biggest disappointment. The funeral and mourning were exploited here in the most outrageous way. The parking lot behind the restaurant totally fits the character of the restaurant. Addendum: The fact that the operator would like to see things differently is in the nature of things. The fact is and remains: It was agreed differently when it came “on the table” later. Very poor price-performance ratio (although the performance was simply extremely inadequate and bad, friendliness is different!!). Even when I wanted to reduce the number of participants by 4 people "three" days before the appointment, it was no longer possible on the grounds that I had already ordered everything from the bakery and the order could no longer be changed. Here they wanted to make money in a shameless way. At (my father's) funeral two months later we were in Gernsheim at the old harbor and everything was tastier, more beautiful and, above all, the price-performance ratio was great.

The boathouse offers a wonderful ambience and top food. The service is super friendly and you never wait long for the food. The dishes are always delivered at the same time, regardless of whether there are two or ten people there. Very commendable, I would like to come back. Insider tip in the Ried.

We went there for dinner for the first time. Unfortunately the weather isn't that nice yet, so we couldn't eat outside. When the weather is nice you can sit on the terrace and look out over the Old Rhine - very nice. There are Croatian dishes, tasty and something for everyone. There is also a separate room for family celebrations and company events.

Leider sehr reduzierte Karte und auch das Essen war für den Preis eine Zumutung. Andere Gäste fragten schon, wo man jetzt hingehen soll um sich satt zu essen. Leider geschmacklich schlecht ausgearbeitet mit wenig Aromen und sher einfache und nicht gut gemachten Küche. Nicht weiter zu empfehlen!!

Draußen kann man schön sitzen, wobei die Stühle nicht wirklich bequem sind. Der Service war freundlich, aufmerksam und flott. Kaum war bestellt, war das Essen auch schon da. Meine Frau hatte den Zagreb Teller. Sie meinte, der sei sehr lecker. Ich habe mal von dem gefüllten Hackfleisch probiert, das war gut gewürzt und hat geschmeckt. Ich hatte das Jägerschnitzel mit Spätzle. Das Schnitzel war gut und ausreichend groß. Die Soße fand ich deutlich zu wenig. Auch geschmacklich fand ich sie doch recht langweilig. Die Pilze waren aus der Dose. Vielleicht hätte man da bissel Speck mit reingeben sollen, damit die etwas Pepp bekommt oder einfach mehr würzen. War das Essen jetzt so, daß ich sage, da will ich noch mal hin? Definitiv NEIN!

Trotz heftiger Ausrottungsbemühungen der Berliner Gender-Pseudo-Schickeria: Hier hat das Zigeunerschnitzel noch eine Heimat. Welch eine Wohltat nach 50 Fahrradkilometern!!!

Wir waren zu viert dort zum Mittagessen, sind sehr freundlich bedient worden. Das Essen war frisch, der Salat war frisch und lecker, das Essen war gut gewürzt und hat uns allen gut geschmeckt. Wir kommen wieder, weil wir gute kroatische Küche und auch deutsche Gerichte gerne mögen :-)

Das Essen war sehr lecker aber etwas zu teuer wenn man es mit anderen Restaurants der gleichen Qualität vergleicht. Die "selbstgemachten" Limonaden sind allerdings reiner Wucher - für ein schön dekoriertes Glas Wasser mit etwas Sirup sind über 5 Euro viel zu teuer. Sonst aber sehr schön hier und der Kaffee ist sehr sehr stark.

Essen war sehr gut. Service hat nach einiges an Luft nach oben. Wir hatten Leber und Grillteller. Konnten wir aber nicht auswählen. Rechnung prüfen!

5,80 für eine ``hausgemachte`` Limo, bestehend aus Wasser mit Sirup und ein paar Minzblättern. Noch nicht einmal Eiswürfel waren in dem Getränk - das ist unverschämt! Das Essen war in Ordnung, aber redhtfertigt nicht den Preis. 1/3 der Essensbestellungen wurden falsch aufgenommen, weshalb das Essen bei einigen sehr viel länger gedauert hat. Als vegetarische Gerichte gibt es lediglich zwei verschiedene Salat und überbackenes Gemüse. Der Service war gut und auch die Aussicht kann sich sehen lassen.

Wunderschön gelegen in ruhiger Umgebung direkt am Altrhein. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und das Essen sehr gut. Die selbstgemachte Marmelade der Wirtin ist empfehlenswert. Wir kommen immer wieder gern hierher.
