Restaurant Athos in Uplengen

There were five of us there. The staff was super friendly, waiting time was normal for a full house. Food was super delicious including dessert, everything was great 👍 Price performance great We will definitely go there more often. I can only recommend it

The food is delicious, but unfortunately the service is quite overwhelming, you have to be prepared for a long wait (drink 30 minutes). You should also ask guests how they would like to be paid before bringing the full bill to the table. Very unpleasant when the waiter grumbles because (predictably) payment is made separately.

If we were regular guests here but the new owner and not enough staff, the drinks only came after repeated requests. Food was okay, but nothing more. Staff completely overwhelmed, drinks were only reordered after we asked. The old owners were much better at it - eat like this. We won't be coming back, but you're welcome to form your own opinion.

Where have the old owners gone? We hadn't been there for a while and were shocked at how the restaurant had changed. Hardly any guests at the best time of meal. You quickly realized why that was. The carefree cheerfulness of the “old” staff is gone. Instead, there is a permanent grin from the now exclusively male staff. I don't want to write more about it. The food wasn't seasoned appropriately and everything was very dry. We'll stay away for now. It's a shame.

We had dinner at Athos in Remels last night. It was a lovely evening all round. There were four of us with a small dog. We were warmly welcomed. The food was served quickly. The various starter salads were very tasty. The tzatziki beforehand was great. The food was hot, fresh, tasty and large portions. The prices are also completely okay. The service staff were very friendly and very attentive. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. We absolutely cannot understand the bad reviews and are glad to have formed our own opinion. We are very, very happy to come back and we can only recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately we waited 1.5 hours for our starter. Not recommended anymore since the owner changed!

We have always felt very comfortable, but this time we were very disappointed. The waiter was already annoyed when there were only 7/9 of us. Then we continued with the ouzo which we had to ask for. But the worst is yet to come...we had a bill that we wanted to divide into three...the waiter was completely overwhelmed and also very cheeky. Unfortunately he didn't get it right at all and in the end we had almost 40€ that didn't belong on our bill...unfortunately that was the last time we visited this restaurant. Too bad...

Despite having a reservation, we waited 90 minutes for our food. The restaurant was completely overcrowded and very noisy. We were there often, it was always great. We won't be coming back for a while. The food was okay, nothing more. That was significantly better in the past. All of us (4 people) were very disappointed. Too bad.

Really rightly the overall response, the perfect greeting when you came in, quick service, tasted very tasty and the farewell was fantastic, you also noticed what was already going on and also a very nice atmosphere outside with the flames, super nice, thank you, we'll be happy to come back

The food was great, the service unprofessional. You didn't feel like you were being taken seriously as a guest, that was different with the previous owners.

Despite a reservation at table 11, you felt left out. In front of the toilets under the spiral staircase and through traffic. Eating out is different for me. Too bad

Everything perfect, friendly service and delicious food!

The food was great, as always! But: sat at a table with a dirty tablecloth. Only when we pointed this out was a tablecloth simply placed over the dirty one. That would NEVER have happened to the previous owners. The new owners still have a lot to learn.

Today we ate again in our favorite Greek restaurant :) the food and service were great as always. We have been coming here again and again for many years and are always completely satisfied. Only recommended :)

We ordered out of the house today and unfortunately we are super disappointed. Souvlaki very dry and the coleslaw is more like sauerkraut. The bread was also burnt and the meat wasn't even cooked through. In addition, we were simply charged for croquettes even though we didn't order them and didn't get them either. The waiter was also visibly drunk, which doesn't look good either.

If I could I would give 10 stars. This was our second time there. It was by far the best meal I've had in a long time. The service is incredibly friendly and unfortunately you rarely experience something like that anymore. We made a reservation half an hour in advance and they immediately made sure that we had a great table. Thumbs up, many people in East Frisia can learn a lesson from this. We will always come back.

It should be a nice evening. Birthday. Reserved a place for 2 several days in advance. This became a cat table with a non-existent one Legroom. Plant and spiral staircase in the back. Through traffic to the toilet. About 30 people in 60 minutes. Other people who came later were offered the best tables. Would have liked to have left more money and a tip - so it stayed with the bare essentials. Were regulars - they're not anymore. It's a shame, everything could be so simple...

We have been going to Athos for years and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, the service is always attentive and friendly. The only flaw that could be noted is the noise level in the restaurant, but that is mostly due to the many people who talk much too loudly there... We will come back!!!

I'm regularly in the north, and Athos is my new favorite Greek place. Finally juicy meat dishes and nothing fried to death. Great, keep it up

Perfect! I've been coming here since I was 7 years old. So for around 25 years. Back then with my parents, now with my partner. It's just a perfect taste every time! Always friendly, even when the place is on fire and every chair is occupied. Always attentive, always courteous, always with a smile on his face. You should definitely reserve a table in advance. Whether gyros in Metaxa sauce, bifteki, souvlaki, pork medallions, steak, grilled plates, starters like saganaki, grilled pepperoni or tzaziki are a smooth 10/10. The bread is super delicious and your salad with various dishes with grated feta on top is a poem! Simply the best Greek in the area! Stay as you are, dear Athos team

Super tasty food in a good atmosphere.

We were there on vacation and had a voucher from the accommodation. We didn't get the voucher back and the 10% wasn't deducted. After two men who we told, there came a woman who was overly friendly, but that only served as a distraction so that people didn't make a fuss. Really crazy!

Excellent fresh and varied cuisine. Portion sizes that satisfy everyone and fast and very friendly service. I'm already looking forward to the next visit. I've been there a lot lately and I have to say that everything is still excellent. I have yet to discover a better Greek. ATTENTION, DANGER OF ADDICTION! 😊 Even larger celebrations are mastered with flying colors. You feel comfortable here. I have once again subjected the Athos to a thorough inspection and have to say that everything is perfect. It's unbelievable at what high level the guests are served here.

The best Metaxa sauce I've ever tasted!

The most positive thing was the very friendly and attentive staff and the large parking space. Drinks and food were taken quickly and served quickly. It was average Greek food with nothing special. The ambience was quite nice, but the tables were too close together for my taste, so you could easily follow the table conversations from all the neighboring tables. Mind you, from ALL neighboring tables. The noise level was appropriate. The price-performance ratio was unbalanced. At least for the dishes we ordered, the prices were too high based on the size of the dishes.

It was my first time there and I was completely thrilled. The service is top. The food gets a 10/10 and everything is good in terms of price-performance ratio. The dishes all arrived on time and were all fresh and crunchy (salad) but the 115 dish was also very tasty and warm. I can only recommend the restaurant. All in all, the restaurant gets a 9/10 from me. The only “shortcoming” I could notice was that it was a bit dark in the winter garden. But you can ignore that with the delicious food. I will gladly come again.

Everything went like clockwork here. Attentive service, the food was typically German-Greek good and extensive. The meat dish was a meat dish. The main course starter plate was good but had a heavy focus on fried vegetables and cheese. I would have liked more variation with fresh ingredients here. Greek cuisine can do that better. But all in all good. In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant was full, narrow and therefore loud. This evening, nothing for a cozy dinner in familiar company.

Ich wurde von der Familie zum Essen eingeladen und durfte dieses hervorragende Restaurant besuchen. Das Essen kam wirklich schnell und war dennoch perfekt zubereitet. Auch geschmacklich ließ es wirklich keine Wünsche übrig. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und dennoch nicht aufdringlich, sondern stets darum bedacht, uns einen schönen Abend zu bereiten. Vielen Dank an das Team Athos für diesen sehr schönen Abend mit leckerem Essen. Jedes Mal wieder!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Was soll ich sagen? Wir haben für den 88. Geburtstag unseres Großvaters mit 8 Leuten einen Tisch reserviert und hatten einen unvergesslichen Abend! Das Essen kam perfekt samt Sonderwünschen, auf den Punkt gegart und gewürzt und auch für Getränke war stets sehr aufmerksam gesorgt. Diese unfassbare Aufmerksamkeit und familiäre Ausrichtung, all die Kleinigkeiten, das gemütliche Ambiente und die ausgesprochen zuvorkommenden, umsorgenden Bedienung machten den Abend nicht nur für uns - sondern auch für unseren Großvater zu einem hervorragenden Abend. Es wurde sogar ein Ständchen samt Geschenk zum Geburtstag gemacht. Wenn ich könnte, würde ich in allen Kategorien 6 Sterne verteilen. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team! Fazit: Solltet ihr einen schönen Abend mit fantastischem Essen suchen, seid ihr hier an der richtigen Adresse. Wir kommen bald wieder.

Ich war schon oft im Restaurant Athos. Ich bin jedes Mal sehr zufrieden. Der Service ist super, die Speisen und Getränke spitzenmäßig, die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm und die Preise sind ok. Es ist alles teurer geworden, also auch der Einkauf der Waren und die Löhne der Mitarbeiter. Wenn aber das Gesamtkonzept stimmt fühlt man sich als Gast gut aufgehoben und kommt gern wieder. Sehr empfehlenswert.👍

Wir waren am Samstag mit sechs Personen vor Ort und haben leider bei einem Essen einen totalen Fehltritt erlitten! Liebes Restaurant Team, wenn jemand vor Ort sein Essen reklamiert, lächelt es nicht einfach weg! Schließlich ist es für uns als Gast auch ein preislicher Spagat, bei den hohen Preisen essen gehen und leisten zu können. Wenn man Lamm bestellt, möchte ich es nicht halbdurch und zu 90 Prozent mit knobel und Fett versehen bekommen. Preis-Leistung sollte stimmen und Reklamationen ernstgenommen werden! Sehr Schade 😔

Essen war sehr gut , Preise waren angemessen, Bedienung sehr freundlich . Spinnengewebe müsste mal entfernt werden. Aber die haben wir zuhause auch , sonst alles top .

Ich bin begeistert von diesem Restaurant. Ich war schon ein paar Mal hier und werde auch noch öfter kommen. Die Mitarbeitenden sind immer super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es empfiehlt sich immer eine Reservierung, da das Restaurant immer gut besucht ist. Am Wochenende braucht man sich ohne Reservierung kaum Hoffnung auf einen Platz machen. Die Mitarbeitenden sind trotzdem stets bemüht jedem einen Platz anzubieten. Die Gäste sind immer gerne hier und auch lange. Sollte man mal länger auf seinen Tisch warten müssen, wird man von den Mitarbeitenden gut umsorgt. Das Essen ist immer super lecker und frisch. Ich habe einen eher empfindlichen Magen und hatte hier nach dem Essen nie Probleme mit der Verdauung, was sehr für das Essen spricht. Das Essen wird immer schön angerichtet und Reste kann man sich einpacken lassen. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Freundlichster Service, auch Kindern gegenüber, moderate Wartezeit, ausreichende uns sehr leckere Portionen. Nur zu empfehlen. Wir waren gestern im Athos mit 6 Pers.essen! Das Essen war sehr lecker und die ganze Bedienung sehr freudlich und fix! Das Restaurant war bis zu 100% ausgebucht und nach 15 min.hatten wir unser Essen(unglaublich),es war wie eine große Familie! Alle waren begeistert ,das wird jetzt unser Stammgrieche! Daumen sowas von hoch!👍

Saß mit Freunden und Nachbarn im "Biergarten" draussen. Das war gemütlich, das Essen war sehr gut, reichhaltig und auch ziemlich fix zubereitet, obwohl die Lokalität brechend voll war und alle Bedienungen, das Personal gut zu tun hatte. Gefällt mir sehr gut. Wiederholungsgefahr 100%. Mach ich definitiv bald mal wieder. Nette Bedienung, wirklich nett.

Was extrem auffällt ist, dass das Personal super freundlich und Aufmerksam ist. Ich muss sagen das meine Erwartungen sogar noch übertroffen wurden. Eines ist sicher - hier werde ich definitiv nochmal einkehren!
