Restaurant ART in Wesel

We visited Art for the first time last Saturday, based on a recommendation. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and sophisticated, and the service was attentive. While the start was very successful, unfortunately, neither of us was satisfied with our respective main courses and their quality. My partner's corn-fed chicken was extremely dry, and the homemade red cabbage was very bitter. Half of my fish fillet was still translucent, which the server admitted after we honestly shared our impressions with him when he asked if everything was okay. He then offered us a small compensation in the form of dessert for one person. What I missed was the option to finish frying the fish and, if necessary, replace the chicken. The desserts were excellent, but since neither of us individually enjoyed our main courses, we won't be returning to Art again. The culinary offerings are simply too extensive for that.

Three weeks ago, my girlfriend and I met for dinner at the Art restaurant at 2 p.m. My girlfriend had a starter and main course, and I only had a main course. The starter was scallop tartare on bruschetta and salad. The fish smelled pretty unpleasant, the salad had no flavor, and the bread was too tough to cut. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, my girlfriend expressed her disappointment. The answer was: I'll pass on it... then the main courses came. What can I say, I had a tuna bowl. The tuna was gray and completely dry. I immediately passed it on to the staff. The bowl went back to the kitchen, and the response I received was that I should please choose a different dish. It's a shame, but I ended up having the vegetarian gnocchi. They even managed to burn the rosemary needles. Not only was the price of €21.90 for gnocchi with rosemary and cocktail tomatoes a shock, but the fact that the chef sat at the next table the entire time and didn't even apologize for the mess, let alone buy us an espresso on the house. We won't be eating there again.

We were here for our wedding, our first time. The ambiance and service were great, but the food was disappointing. Just because they pile food on top of each other doesn't make it good. We've had better tasting food (rabbit and ox cheeks) at every country inn. The appetizers were good. Overall, though, we expected more.

We've been to Restaurant Art several times, but today our main courses (beef roulade and ox cheeks) were absolutely tasteless. The meat and sauce were completely lacking in seasoning, which isn't really possible with these two braised dishes and their professional preparation. Sorry, but it was simply not good! We'll definitely be back, as I hope this was an exception (perhaps the chef is on vacation).

We also wanted to spend a lovely evening at Art for the first time on our wedding anniversary. After being shown to our table, we waited 12 minutes, then I asked for the menu. First, the waiter apologized and took our drink order. After 5 minutes, I asked again what it was. Second, I apologized. Then I ordered food, but unfortunately, the wrong starter was brought. My wife ate her soup alone. Third, I apologized. Main course was no problem. Ordered one dessert, but unfortunately it never arrived (20 minutes), then ordered the bill, which came immediately. Are you satisfied? No, the waiter explained why, and then came the fourth, "Apology." Sorry, but that was a bit much. It was our first time at your restaurant based on a recommendation. Everyone deserves a second chance. We'll see if and when. P.S. The food was good, there's nothing to complain about, but the circumstances put us off. The service should work on being more attentive.

My wife and I spent our wedding anniversary here last night and were there for the first time. The service: super attentive, friendly, and professional. Top-notch! The food: simply delicious! Homemade, the meat cooked to perfection, superbly seasoned, and the side dishes were all a taste sensation. Kudos to the chef. I could find one or two minor things to complain about, but that's nitpicking. Of all the restaurants I've visited, this was one of the best. I have to warn you: we'll be back!

I come here regularly with friends or family and have never been disappointed. From the service to the selection to the taste of the food and drinks, everything is top-notch. Just keep it up, and I'll stay loyal to you!

I think the price is simply too high for what you get on your plate. The flavor still leaves a lot of room for improvement. Despite the starter and dessert, we still got a pizza afterward.

We celebrated our wedding on May 10, 2025, at Restaurant Art, and we can only express our sincere gratitude to the entire team and Mr. Adamski. The planning and execution were flawless. We never felt alone for a minute; we were in constant communication. It truly was our dream wedding; all of our guests were thrilled! The food was fantastic, as always, and the service was prompt and very attentive. We were able to take beautiful photos on the wedding lawn. It was simply perfect! Today we ate at the restaurant with friends, and this evening was once again a delight. We have never been disappointed by the food; in fact, we enjoy trying different dishes and are always delighted with culinary delights. My wife and I will be happy to come back, and Restaurant Art is one of our favorite restaurants. Thank you so much, keep up the good work!

See beautiful terrace for sunny evenings

The restaurant's ambiance is extraordinary, especially in summer; nowhere else for miles around can you find a dining experience as beautiful as this. This is also the reason why we have been going to the Art Restaurant twice a year for lunch for almost thirty years, even though we live about 80 km away. Since the change of ownership a few years ago, the quality of the food has steadily declined. This has put a damper on the value for money. Yesterday's meal – quail on lentil salad and zander with green asparagus and potato dumplings – was prepared averagely at best. The lentil salad was bland in flavor, the green asparagus was only warm, otherwise rather raw, the potato dumplings were obviously from a package, and the zander was certainly not fresh, but thawed. The friendly waiter and the wonderful outdoor ambiance provide some consolation, but it leaves a bitter aftertaste. For the time being, we won't be repeating this trip.

TOP ambience, TOP food, TOP service. We were guests with 7 people and everyone was happy and satisfied in the end. Thank you !

We always enjoyed being guests at ART & the food fascinated us so much that we talked about it days later, but yesterday we were there - Easter Saturday & have never seen the parking lot so empty. When I looked at the menu it was a shock, some of our favorite dishes were removed from the menu, the menu was even smaller... it didn't matter, we ordered it but there was something in the air, it was different than usual. Starters completely ok - main courses had a different taste and were decorated differently - we guess there is a new chef there who unfortunately didn't fascinate us as much as the previous one. Steak was too well done & too dark. There was no salt on top of the noodles and the taste was lacking. It's a shame!! But service was great as always and we still gave it another chance in the hope that the chef was sick or on vacation.

Wir waren bei Comedy und Currywurst. Ich finde es unglaublich und eines solchen Restaurants nicht würdig, dass man nur noch eine Portion Currywurst aufgescheppt bekommt und lächerliches und labberiges Toastbrot dazu. Da wurde dann nicht abgezählt- man durfte sogar 2 nehmen. Für mich ist das ein Grund, dort keinen Fuss mehr herein zu setzen.

Well, what should I write? We've been to Art several times and have always felt comfortable, whether it was a wedding, a wine tasting, or just a delicious meal. So, we had tickets for the wine tasting on March 13th and were really looking forward to it, but our joy was quickly dampened that evening. When we arrived at Art, we were told that the wine tasting had been canceled. It's nice to be looking forward to a lovely evening and only be informed of the cancellation upon arrival, especially since you've taken the evening and the next day off work. I felt sorry for the employees who were left alone by their boss to deal with this situation. As I said, we weren't informed of the cancellation in advance, and there was nothing about it on the website either.... They wanted to give us a voucher for the price of the tickets, or we could have eaten something on site, which they would then offset against the price of the tickets. Well, neither of us wanted that, and it didn't seem appropriate for our inconvenience and disappointment. How we'll handle this in the future remains to be seen; we're still disappointed 😞

Wat een fijn restaurant om even op adem te komen! Uitstekende attente bediening, heerlijk gegeten zowel vegetarisch als vleesgerechten zijn erg goed. De bediening is attent en vriendelijk maar niet opdringerig. Helemaal top. Vergeet de snelweg restaurants en rijd even om als je in de buurt bent!

The food was really very good, not too much and not too little. Very delicately seasoned and the meat quality and preparation was really first class. There is enough parking space, the ambience is good, but in my opinion the theme of "art" could be explored even more. The high ceilings allow for much more here, especially so that it doesn't look too much like a hall. In summer it might be significantly different and better because the outdoor area is very attractively designed. The service can still be improved a little. We have never received our food so quickly (20 minutes). We weren't prepared for this at all and would actually have liked to stay longer. Maybe we would have even had one more glass of wine, but we finished incredibly quickly. Tips: Steaks, warm chocolate cake, ox cheeks

The restaurant is recommended. The staff is friendly, polite and very attentive. The menu is rounded off with a special weekly menu. The food was very tasty and so was the chocolate mousse.

Were there for the first time today. The ambience and service were really good! 👍😉 My Linguine with Black Tiger Shrimp was super disappointed. The shrimp were good, but there was far too little pasta and the sauce tasted like a ready-made chili sauce from the Japanese. My husband had a rump steak, which was quite tasteless, and the meat was so light that I wasn't convinced that I had roast beef on my plate. Sorry, but for the price we won't come back and wouldn't recommend the visit.

Very nice restaurant in a great location, with a great ambience, with an outdoor area in summer. Reservation is recommended. Excellent service, polite, questions about individual dishes are discussed competently at the table. Menu clear and high quality. (Slightly shortened during our visit due to staffing) Preparation, quality and composition as well as arrangement of the dishes are also excellent. I had a DryAge cutlet with pureed carrots and homemade red cabbage. It was probably the best chop of my life so far. The combination of the food = world class. Prices according to quality. Conclusion: If you want to have a high-quality meal, the ART restaurant is the perfect place for you. Very worthwhile and recommended.

January 2025 I've wanted to review Restaurant Art here for so long. We have been guests for 3 years and always enjoy coming there. The reason why I give 4 stars: The food is made completely fresh - from fresh ingredients. The sauces are boiled and made from bones. You can hardly find this anywhere else in the area. The meat quality (steak) is bombastic. In the Wesel area you can only find such butter-tender, good-tasting meat here and in Raesfeld Castle! No annoyed sentence or funny look is ever dropped/shown when I change all the side dishes in my dishes and choose different ones on the menu. The soups are often very tasty. I particularly liked one, this one was seasonal with pumpkin and orange. A taste explosion. As a starter I only eat soups because the price/performance ratio is still right and I generally just don't find the other starters appealing because of the high prices and the portion size served (like in many other restaurants). My family and I think it's incredibly great that there is perfectly crafted home cooking but that it is prepared in a more elegant or chic way. It's not a chi-chi restaurant and everyone can find something they like. There is a small menu - which almost always shows the high priority placed on the quality of the food - as well as a weekly menu that also shows seasonal dishes. The greeting from the kitchen every time with fresh, high-quality bread and great dips is always something we are happy about. The service was really incredibly great 2-3 years ago. It was served from the right and cleared from the left. The staff (which were mostly the same people on all our visits) were very polite and yet very pleasantly friendly and relaxed enough. They were extremely service oriented and quick. On our last 2-3 visits, the service had significantly deteriorated and the staff was too relaxed (not appropriate for the ambience), served as it was convenient and thus lowered the quality of the overall experience. There are a few other negative aspects that have been giving me a bit of a stomach ache for the last 1-2 years. Unfortunately, the portion sizes have shrunk massively compared to 3 years ago with simultaneous price increases. We used to think (3 years ago) that the prices were almost too cheap for such good quality dishes because the prices hadn't been raised back then (there were then, like everywhere else, several price adjustments due to inflation). But now we can no longer feel full without an appetizer. Maybe those in charge could adjust something again so that the portion sizes are like they were 3 years ago and you don't have to look for the side dishes on the plate. The restaurant itself is just beautiful! It's so beautifully decorated! The terrace is also nicely done, right on the water. However - and I think this has been criticized many times - the cobwebs on the windows are really noticeable. Now I smile about it because for me it's part of it and the animals live outside and that's ok. All in all, in my opinion and in the opinion of my partner and mother, this is a fantastic restaurant. I have already recommended it to others several times and even my good friend's parents come from Aachen specifically to eat there. It is one of our top 3 restaurants in Wesel and the surrounding area. Only we would like the portion sizes to be increased again so that we can give 5 stars plus again and feel like coming back more often. Unfortunately, I no longer have the photos from the year 2022 in question, where the portions were significantly larger, on my cell phone.

We were in the ART restaurant as part of a crime dinner that took place in the hall and took a look around the guest rooms. The ambience was very nice and the tables were beautifully set. The staff at the crime dinner were very, very friendly and attentive. The meal for the crime dinner was a three-course menu, and I really enjoyed it. The crime dinner was great and was a foretaste of our next visit, where we will hopefully have another great evening. I will report...

Went there for the first time today. Had reserved because we have 2 large dogs 🐕. Were warmly greeted by name at reception, as not everyone makes a reservation with a dog. Homework done. Service good and nice. Food very good 👍. As an organic butcher, I would have liked a slightly larger steak. But overall, everything was great. Always happy again and again.

We were there a week ago with 8 people and unfortunately we didn't all enjoy it! The sauces were very strong, almost burnt! I still had to burp them the next day! Too bad! Otherwise it was much better!

It was a bit cold in the restaurant and unfortunately it wasn't as comfortable. The food was good, but unfortunately the presentation of the starters was a bit unimaginative, which you can see from the photos. A dish was sent incorrectly but changed immediately. The sound insulation under the tables is funny.

Very nice restaurant, overall everything went great. We made a reservation and with our children we had 4 different dishes. Dessert was also very tasty. We will definitely go again in the summer to enjoy the ambience outside - then there will be the last star.

Fantastic food on a cozy evening in a small group.

We were there for dinner with six people. Each person had a different menu. For example, the beef was tender and very tasty, the duck leg was juicy and perfectly seasoned, the vegetables all had a light bite and a natural-identical taste. Everyone was very, very satisfied with the attentive service without hassling.

I was there for a business lunch with a colleague. The room was uncomfortably cold as many doors were open. At our request, they were gradually closed, but things were still going well for now. There were very few other guests there at lunchtime. The selection of food is good and the price is slightly higher. Unfortunately my dish wasn't to my liking; It was too salty for me. The fresh bread was delicious. The service was attentive. There are plenty of parking spaces available. I found the atmosphere to be very cool, which is of course a subjective consideration.

The restaurant is exceptional. The food, the service and the ambience are very good. There are also a lot of places outside, idyllically located by a small lake. All the food we ate there tasted great. Eat what you want. You won't be disappointed. Finally, I had the duck liver (with salad) first and then the turbot as a daily recommendation. With a glass of Pinot Gris. Top!

The Lokal Art is a great place if you want to go for something finer. Each of the dishes has a special twist, so that the taste buds can delight in a surprise. The service complements the food excellently, very accommodating, friendly and quick. The ambience is also very nice, especially if you can sit outside or in the large main room. So definitely worth a visit, even if the price is a little more expensive.

I was at the crime dinner. Great event, friendly staff, would be happy to do it again.

Great ambience, which is unfortunately not reflected in the kitchen and service. We ordered 1 starter to share. Unfortunately 2 were charged. Upon request, two starters were also served. For my main course I had the country pork duet. Unfortunately the meat was too dry. Both points were also raised with the staff. As far as I know, a restaurant makes money from drinks. As a guest, I sat in front of an empty glass of wine for about 20 minutes. The dessert menu also arrived late. I have the impression that the boss wasn't there that evening. All in all a mixed evening. Hopefully the review will encourage reflection and improvement. Both the restaurant and the menu are appealing.

Feels like a vacation! Regardless of whether the weather is good on the outdoor terrace by the pond or in the stylish indoor area... the service is very attentive, the food is of high quality and therefore absolutely worth the slightly (but not excessively) high price. The seasonal weekly menu is highly recommended. The drinks prices are average and are also perfectly fine (e.g. Aperol Spritz €7.90, bottle of Chardonnay €23.90).

We went to the restaurant very spontaneously because we don't live nearby and were thrilled: The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has its own small pond (yesterday it was too cool to sit outside next to the pond). The staff was very attentive from the start, always friendly and with a smile on their faces. The two employees noticed that the working atmosphere was very good and this was also transferred to the way they interacted with the guests - professionally but fortunately not distantly. Thank you very much for that. The food itself was very tasty and attractively prepared. Even the greeting from the kitchen with four (!) different homemade spreads was great. The starter soups and main courses were also excellent and plentiful - the vegetable side dish didn't just consist of a single carrot or two bacon-wrapped beans, but was varied and the portion was more than sufficient. The dessert was also extremely tasty. All in all, we haven't eaten out so well in a long time. We will definitely come back - even if, as mentioned at the beginning, we don't live around the corner.

Went there with 4 people and had reserved in advance. The very, very nice waitress assigned us a very nice table by the large window with a view of a small carp pond. Fantastic ambience throughout the restaurant. Modern, comfortable, with plenty of space. The service staff are all consistently competent, friendly and accommodating. TOP performance from the team. Food excellent, tasty, beautifully prepared and presented. Overall conclusion: definitely worth it, it's a small gourmet temple with first-class offerings. Coming back is fun.

We went there for dinner a few weeks ago, unfortunately it didn't get that far. The service was so unprofessional, rude and overwhelmed that we left the restaurant before eating. When we asked for the manager, we were told that he didn't have time and that we could leave, which we did. We would have liked to eat there, but you should train your staff on how to deal with guests, because that's not all it was about that evening.

It was my first time there and I was more than impressed. The food was truly breathtaking. The service was also excellent, very attentive! We paid around €75 per person for 3 courses + drinks and we would do it again and again. Rarely eaten so well! So try the kitchen, very great! Very good selection of food and in my opinion you feel very exclusive in the restaurant. I'd love to come back!

We had a great meal at Art this evening. Both the starters and the main course were perfectly seasoned and therefore extremely tasty. The service was courteous and very friendly; The male service in particular was exemplary. Friendly, always smiling and very personable. Our dog was more than welcome and was immediately provided with fresh water. It couldn't be better and we will definitely be back soon!
