I went for dinner with my family. The food was super delicious! Fresh ingredients and top quality! Only the service from super waiter Genjo could top it :) It is rare to find such attentive and friendly service staff. I can only recommend everyone to dine here.

Very good Greek food and nice attentive service. It is a little warmer in the basement rooms, but very comfortable. Also highly recommended with larger groups, as the service works well and everyone can eat together. We'd love to come back.

My wife and I visited Aresto for the first time yesterday. Old Swede, that was a good decision! 😁 At the beginning we were greeted by a super nice, friendly and really smart waiter, with whom we had a very good conversation at the end of our visit. Thank you again for that, we felt really comfortable! A very nice person! The food was the best meal my wife and I have ever eaten. She had a salmon casserole that was absolutely delicious and I had the tastiest chicken gyros with the best bulgur and the tastiest fries including tzatziki and super delicious bread. And the best thing: after the gyro - absolutely no feeling of fullness! Simply awesome! We would love to come back and would like to thank the very lovely entire Aresto team! Compliments of course also to the kitchen 🙂👌 Keep it up, because you make people happy 😀👍

I had gyros and it didn't impress me. The meat lacked a lot of browning and some power was missing in the taste. Portion size moderate. I know it differently from other Greeks. However, the ambience is great!

A chic restaurant with a beautiful interior and simply royal chandeliers. The dishes were large, the meat was juicy and soft, the homemade wine was delicious. I liked that there was an island with salad ingredients that you could make yourself and season to your own taste. Great time spent. Thank you.

The restaurant is of the highest quality. I'm very excited about it. The restaurant is located directly on the Leine. A beautiful ambience inside and out. The food tastes very good, the vegetables are fresh and crunchy and the lamb is extremely tender. The different components complement each other perfectly and the sauce tastes fantastic. With this quality you are happy to pay a little more. The service was extremely nice! It's always a pleasure to return there. We enjoyed the evening so much that we forgot to take a photo of my husband's plate. He had stuffed calamari with sheep cheese – it was really tasty.

Finally a familiar face in Aresto again! We were regulars at Aresto for years, when Aresto was still what we knew and loved it for. However, the Aresto has suffered greatly in recent years due to the management and the change in management, which was noticeable in the treatment of guests and the quality. Therefore, we felt compelled to stop visiting our favorite restaurant. We couldn't believe our ears when we heard a few days ago that a familiar face had returned to Aresto, so we decided to visit again. We were welcomed with a warmth and friendliness that we hadn't been used to there for a long time. It was nice to see how the gentleman brought the restaurant back to life with his kindness, experience and charisma. The staff was friendly, but with room for improvement. After a very long time, we were able to enjoy our food and time there again and look forward to returning to Aresto on a regular basis.

A warm welcome and courteous service in dealing with the guests (customers). The choice of colors, wood, layout, and decorations is elegant and sophisticated. The creamy chicken curry soup is outstanding and delicious. The black eggplant in the appetizers is excellent, and the fried calamari is superb. The young man taking care of our table, named Philip, is more than excellent—polite, well-mannered, and very professional in his work. He helped us choose the dishes.

One of the most beautiful restaurants in Hanover. Ornate interiors. Great food lamb dishes from salt marsh lamb. Excellent wines and attentive, friendly staff. I'm already looking forward to the next time, preferably outside with a view of the Leinewelle.

Had dinner here with my partner on Valentine's Day. Absolutely not recommended for the price. Food is either totally over-salted or otherwise over-seasoned. Ambiance is ok but not great either. 0/10, wouldn't eat again.

The service is simply great. Keep the door open, take off your jackets, say goodbye in person, mega. Some people can learn something from there. The food isn't bad, but it was a bit too dry for me personally and the Brockkoli was somehow out of place. My wife thought her lamb was great. There is also non-alcoholic beer for drivers.

Very nice restaurant. Unfortunately I wasn't that impressed with the food. Which is a real shame. I received more positive reports, which unfortunately for me and my partner were not the same.

We just had a spontaneous meal here with friends and what can I say?!? Except that all 4 of us are completely satisfied and the food was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared! For example, we had lamb twice and this was admittedly the best thing I've eaten so far 😍 (we run a restaurant ourselves..). The other dishes were also “on point” and received at least 10 out of 10 points! The service was more than attentive and the waiter "Nazar" who served us was always at the table and super friendly, as you would expect, but it wasn't too intrusive like in some other restaurants! Here again a huge thank you 😊!

I was at Aresto in Hanover today and I was absolutely thrilled! The menu was sensational, every single dish was perfectly seasoned and authentically Greek. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in the presentation. The atmosphere was very inviting. Das Essen war mal früher so schnackhaft das ich zu unserem Jahrestag zusammen mit meinem Lebensgefährten zu Aresto ging und dort zu Abend aß. Leider mussten wir feststellen dass von den früher so oft gelobten schmackhaften Küche nicht mehr viel übrig war. Das Essen war zu teuer dafür das es nicht geschmeckt hat. Und die allergrößte Frechheit war das meinem Schatz das beste vom Lamm versprochen wurde aber es kamen nur 3 Stücken Fleisch mit viel Gemüse wobei das Fleisch weder gut gewürzt wie von guten Griechen erwartet noch mager bzw km Fleisch waren noch Knorpel was bei einem Preis von 38,90 einfach nicht sein darf. Da ist auf jedem Fall Verbesserungspotential meine Freunde. So macht ihr nicht mehr lange. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall nicht mehr wieder

You can prepare the salad to your liking, the food seemed to me with too many sauces and very seasoned... it is recommended to reserve before going or they will give you a table in the least welcoming space of the restaurant

We were here for the first time BUT definitely not the last :-) We haven't had such good Greek food in ages! Wonderful starter plate, delicious bread, a nice selection at the salad buffet and excellent quality meat. Not too much garlic, but still perfectly seasoned. The portions are great in terms of quantity. The young man in service was very friendly, committed and always made sure that we didn't lack anything. Top. Thank you for this lovely visit!

Food is meh, Gyros should be already with tzatziki and tomato and onion, not having to pay extra 7 euro for 3 scoops of tzatziki. Waiter was friendly but the food is wayyy overpriced, especially for the taste, There's way better fast food places than this restaurant where you can eat for 7 times cheaper and I really mean 7 times. I'm not greek but even I know you don't eat gyros with tomato sauce and rice. Again, waiter was nice.

We have been here several times as a group because Aresto is one of the few restaurants in Hanover that our colleague with celiac disease can easily visit. Unfortunately we weren't happy this time. After receiving our food after almost two hours, we were negatively surprised. Various dishes came to the table lukewarm and the baked dishes were clearly in the oven for too long. We returned the feta cheese and the person who ordered it had to wait another 30 minutes for the new one. Only when we asked were we given a round of drinks after all that stuff. We didn't get any bread or anything like that in advance. Extremely unusual! The service was really friendly but unfortunately couldn't save it. I'm sorry, but price-performance doesn't match for me anymore. Maybe not so many tables should be accepted in the run-up to Christmas. The kitchen doesn't seem to keep up. I won't be coming back, it's a shame.

Meine Erfahrung war durchweg positiv: Das Essen war wirklich lecker, der Preis zwar nicht günstig, aber absolut angemessen für die gebotene Qualität. Der Service war freundlich, und das Ambiente hat ebenfalls überzeugt. Für mich persönlich fehlten vielleicht 10 % zu den vollen 5 Sternen, aber ich würde jederzeit wieder dort essen gehen. Falls du noch Anpassungen möchtest, lass es mich wissen!

My experience was entirely positive: the food was really tasty, the price wasn't cheap, but absolutely reasonable for the quality offered. The service was friendly and the ambience was also convincing. For me personally it was maybe 10% missing from the full 5 stars, but I would eat there again at any time. The service was overwhelmed, three filled trays fell to the floor during our meal. There were several potatoes and pieces of bread under the table in the basement. The plates were nicely presented, but the food was not of high quality. “Fancy Falafel” consisted of ready-made falafel, beetroot from the package, tasteless hummus, dates from the bag and a handful of lettuce. I couldn't see any achievement of a chef in this. My companion had snack-level gyros. The restaurant is quite nice upstairs, but the basement is very dark and has poor acoustics

We were there for dinner with 5 people, first the positive aspects. The service was very friendly and competent, the food was very tasty and tasty, although a bit salty. We had various meat dishes including gyros, fillet platter and steak, and the meat in all of these dishes was excellent. Now the other side of the coin, we had a table in the basement, the atmosphere was actually quite nice, but the room temperature was too low for mid-November, it was cold. In addition, it was not pointed out in the basement that there were still “daily specials” or special recommendations from the kitchen. In my opinion, the restaurant is one of the higher-priced restaurants and the fact that there is only some bread beforehand is a bit "unusual", usually in other restaurants there is a side dish with the bread. My daughter had ordered a large salad plate and the waitress referred to the salad buffet on the ground floor, but this turned out to be a limited buffet, there were only various salads without any other side dishes as you would expect with a "large salad plate", such as: Egg, tuna, ham etc. The bottom line is that it was recommendable and the negative points are not so serious that they cannot be remedied. We'll definitely come back.

Wir waren mit 5 Personen zum Abendessen dort, zuerst die positiven Aspekte. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und kompetent, das Essen war sehr lecker und schmackhaft, allerdings etwas salzig. Wir hatten verschiedene Fleischgerichte u.a. Gyros, Filetteller und Steak, bei all diesen Gerichten war das Fleisch vorzüglich. Nun die andre Seite der Medaille, wir hatten einen Tisch im Untergeschoss, das Ambiente war eigentlich ganz nett, allerdings war die Raumtemperatur für Mitte November zu niedrig, es war kalt. Außerdem wurde man im Untergeschoss nicht darauf hingewiesen dass es noch "Tagesgerichte" bzw. spezielle Empfehlungen aus der Küche gibt. Das Lokal gehört meiner Meinung nach zu den höherpreisigen Restaurants und das es da nur etwas Brot vorweg gibt ist etwas "ungewöhnlich", normalerweise gibt es in anderen Restaurants zu dem Brot noch eine Streichbeilage. Meine Tochter hatte einen großen Salatteller bestellt und die Bedienung verwies auf das Salat Büfett im Erdgeschoss, dieses entpuppte sich allerdings als ein eingeschränktes Büfett, es gab nur verschiedene Salate ohne irgendwelche anderen Beilagen wie man sie bei einem "großen Salatteller" erwarten kann, wie z.B. Ei, Tunfisch, Schinken etc. Unterm Strich war es aber empfehlenswert und die Minuspunkte sind ja auch nicht so gravierend das man sie nicht beheben könnte. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Visit to the terrace in the late afternoon, which is beautifully located. However, leaves are not groomed. Drink selection is limited, there are no non-alcoholic aperitifs. Service was inattentive.

We sat in the wine bar in the basement, which was a bit dark for me personally. Unfortunately there were very few vegetarian options. I ended up eating a summer salad with feta and watermelon, which also tasted good, but wasn't anything special. The waitresses were very friendly, but often disappeared for a long time. However, it was also Friday evening.

The chicken was simply not cooked through, so deductions were made, as was the fact that there was neither a plate nor a knife with the bread and olive oil (in advance).

The terrace directly on the banks of the Leine with the LEINEWELLE is one of the most beautiful places in Hanover. The ARESTO employees have been serving whatever your heart desires for over 3 decades.

Jeg er i min gamle studieby Hannover med jevne mellomrom. Jeg er alltid innom den greske restauranten Aresto og det har HVER gang vært en god opplevelse. Veldig hyggelig betjening som gjør alt de kan for å tilfredsstille dine ønsker. Maten var svært god. Og vi følte oss som kongelige når vi ble bukket ut av restauranten . Veldig fornuftige priser og bra vinkart. Anbefales og det garanteres at det blir hyggelig !

Modern restaurant, beautifully located directly on the “Leine” in the government district of Hanover. The food, I had a grill plate, wasn't exactly cheap, but it was of high quality and taste. Also in terms of quantity, at least for me (183; 88kg) completely sufficient. You can put together your own starter salad beforehand. Good idea, you can leave out certain types of vegetables that you don't like to eat and instead eat more of the delicious ones, in my case olives or pepperoni. I, or the four of us, liked it. Afterwards everyone was full, happy and satisfied.

Beautiful ambience and good acoustics. The dishes were all great, vegetables were crunchy, meat was tender and the salad bar was fresh. Great service! And thanks again to the attentive young man who brought us the doggy bag that we had forgotten!!

Staff was very stressed. You had to wait a long time to even be able to place an order. The food that we saw on the tables looked quite good, but what I got outside of the house unfortunately looked completely different. A part was also missing and the prices were high.

The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday night. I had some feta cheese as a starter which was alright and an assortment of lamb meat which was very good and well cooked. The waiters that attended me spoke English and were friendly and attentive. The wine list is big and impressive, but unfortunately the more junior waiters (like the one who took my order) are not so knowledgeable about wine and grape varieties, which showed when I asked for a glass of wine. I suggest the waiters have a level in WSET so they can help the customers with their queries. Nice location and decor, I think this place is better to visit for lunch when you can enjoy the views outside.

Ended up here by chance. Really delicious food, I have never eaten such delicious gyros👌🏻👌🏻 Everything else was also prepared perfectly. Friendly service, after we received the food we had a lot of trouble with wasps (there is little they can do about it) and were immediately shown to another place, or possibly inside. Highly recommended!

We were there with about 40 people. Everything went smoothly, the food came for everyone almost at the same time and tasted very good. Special praise for the appetizer platter. The only, non-significant negative point: I would have liked a little more light in the basement. But that had no influence on the gastronomic performance.

There were 9 of us with a dog and children, a table was quickly prepared for us, everything was very professional and quick, the waiters were attentive and very friendly, the starter and main course were delicious, lamb chops, hands and the pasta were all very good delicious and very nicely prepared. Price performance ratio is absolutely fine, we will definitely be back soon.

Unfortunately, the prices of the dishes were too high for what we ordered because the portions we received were very small. Otherwise we were more or less satisfied. My previous review (3 stars with similar content) was blocked for "defamation". I assume that they probably wanted to remove the “worse” reviews. I am therefore giving a new rating, but with one star deducted. If this review is removed again, I can also reduce it to one star. After all, other guests have a right to honest reviews and opinions.

Beautifully located and totally nice and attractively furnished outside and inside. The first irritation right at the beginning: If you want to sit outside, you won't be seated, but instead have to choose a free table. I find it extremely unpleasant when you're competing for tables with other guests who arrive at the same time. We then waited more than an hour for our food, while neighboring tables that arrived later had already eaten. The apology came, but rather half-heartedly. In general, you didn't see much of the service. Food mediocre: rice and meat tasted average. At the end there is the sudden request that you want to cash in. Without offering a dessert menu or anything similar and of course further justification. It will probably stay with just one visit.

Im ARESTO wurden wir noch nie enttäuscht. Das Fleisch schmeckt uns immer sehr gut und auch der Lachs war frisch und hervorragend zubereitet. Tolles Salatbuffet! Es ist zwar etwas teurer als beim „Griechen um die Ecke“ - aber das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt einfach. Wenn man draußen sitzt, kann man sogar die Surfer auf der Leinewelle beobachten.

Great location and nice decor. The service staff was very friendly. It wasn't particularly busy but the waiting time was still quite long at over an hour. The food was ok, but unfortunately nothing more. We were disappointed with the starter plate as it consisted exclusively of dips/creams. We've had much better Greek food and at a much lower price. There was bulgur with the gyros, but unfortunately it didn't taste good. With fries there is an extra 5.50 euros. Price performance doesn't fit here.

Disappointing service despite a nice location We visited the restaurant today, on a Sunday, and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. While most guests sat outside, we decided to sit inside. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a mistake as the service was absolutely poor. The waiters seemed to completely ignore us and we had to actively draw attention to ourselves every time to even be served. The friendliness of the staff also left a lot to be desired. The food itself was OK, but definitely nothing special. Unfortunately, the meat was completely cooked through and therefore no longer juicy. After this experience, we skipped dessert because it just took too long for someone to come to our table - our patience was at an end. It's a shame, because the location of the restaurant is really nice and promising. Unfortunately, the poor service severely spoiled the overall impression.
