I was there for the first time today. The price, which some people complain about, I find justified given the quality and quantity. I also think the wait is reasonable, as good things take time (we were a group of 12 and didn't have to wait very long). It also helps if you're in good company and can chat while you wait. The owner was very friendly and attentive. He asked how we were doing and if we enjoyed the food. I'll definitely be back and will recommend it to others.

I'm giving the restaurant 4 stars because I really like the concept and want to support it. You can tell a lot of heart went into it, and I sincerely hope the place survives in the long run. At the same time, I'd like to mention a few things that unfortunately dampened my visit somewhat. I can understand the roughly one-hour wait for the food to a certain extent—especially when it's busy, things can sometimes go wrong. Nevertheless, a bit better organization or communication would be helpful. What disappointed me most was the taste: For a €25 burger, I simply expect a certain "wow factor," something that makes me want to come back. Taste-wise, it was more on par with a doner kebab, and that really shouldn't happen at this price. The spare ribs also unfortunately had a slightly bitter taste. I hope it was just an off day. I also found the lighting in the dining area rather bothersome—the light was unpleasantly harsh on the eyes. Perhaps a more comfortable solution could be found. What disappointed me most was the taste: For a €25 burger, I simply expect a certain "wow" factor, something that makes me want to come back. Another thing I noticed: with almost every dish, half the fries were left over. It's simply too much. Perhaps it would be better to halve the portion and serve a small coleslaw instead – or alternatively, offer fries as a second helping. This would reduce waste and make the plates more balanced. Another point I'd like to mention: there was a sign on the table offering a 50% discount on dessert for a 5-star review. This makes it difficult to take existing reviews seriously, as it gives the impression that many are "bought" – even if that's not the intention. It doesn't exactly project a professional image. Finally, a general suggestion: if things go really wrong on a particular evening – long wait times, incorrect food, or tasteless dishes – it would be nice if guests received a bit more attention so they don't leave disappointed. A little more proactive handling of such situations would make a big difference. Despite the criticisms, I wish the team all the best, because the basic concept definitely has potential. I hope you stick with it!

The service was great. The food also arrived quite quickly. The wedges and fries were perfect, and the selection and flavor of the dips were very good. The only caveat: Vegetarians only have two burgers to choose from, which are also relatively small and simply made (especially considering the price). You can tell that they put a lot more thought into their meat options. Therefore, unfortunately, it's not recommended for vegetarians.

The three of us went there for dinner last night. The burgers looked very appealing inside and out. I had the pulled pork burger; the pulled pork was excellent, and so was the rest of the burger. They're a bit heavy to eat because they're so high, but that doesn't matter at all. The mixed salad was huge; we were expecting a small salad, but we were pleasantly surprised. The waitress was very friendly and personable. All in all, it was really delicious and worth another visit. Thank you 😊

The food was okay, the portions were good. But over €30 for a burger and a drink, given the wait times? Almost 15 minutes before we could even order drinks, and then another whole hour for the burgers to arrive. And that even though the place wasn't that busy—sorry, that's just not acceptable :-(

We drove all the way from Freiburg to Lörrach because they're supposed to have good burgers. That was a huge understatement. I really had the best burger since... ever? That sounds trite, but it's true. My family treated themselves to luxury burgers and weren't disappointed. Luxury, because I thought €30 was a bit pricey. But the large burgers are really worth the money. They come with fries, wedges, and dip, and they tasted great too. I had a stomach operation and was able to order a child's portion, which made me very happy. Service, ambiance... everything was perfect, and we'd love to come back 🫶🏻

There have been a few complaints about the service and wait times; folks! This isn't MC Doof! This is handmade BBQ food! These two usually rock the place on their own, and yes, if everything has to be fresh, even 3-4 tables can be stressful! Just take your time and enjoy the great food and the smiles on the other guests' faces when they get their plates! Always happy to come back!

Whether it's burgers or spare ribs, everything tastes delicious here. The spare ribs are super tender and buttery soft, the burgers are amazing, and all the sauces are homemade. In short: everything tastes delicious, and the portions are filling. And one thing is for sure: the kitchen undoubtedly knows its craft. Furthermore, this restaurant is very hospitable, and despite the stress, the chef took the time to personally greet us. That's something that's unfortunately becoming increasingly rare in the restaurant industry, and I personally appreciate it very much. A great place to linger, have fun, and, above all, be pampered with culinary delights. People, just treat yourself to a visit to the Rauchküche and let yourself be captivated by the American cuisine! Reservations are definitely recommended on weekends. And make sure you're hungry... Card payments are accepted at this restaurant.

Great dining experience, superb selection, generous portions, and a friendly owner who served us personally. We were pleasantly surprised and would come back if we were in the area. We had various burger menus; the burgers and fries were delicious, and the portions were generous! We often go for burgers, and the restaurant is really good. Our children were also addressed in an exemplary and child-friendly manner during the food selection process.

A genuine, handmade burger with no frills, featuring a very good BBQ sauce and a pad with a nice grilled flavor. @service: Please be sure to ask when ordering by phone whether you want the meat medium or well-done. When I eat burgers, I always assume the pad is medium but grilled to medium/done at most, not well-done. A definite recommendation in terms of taste! The Vegan Crispy Chicken Burger unfortunately lowers the standard. It's probably a breaded seitan pad that doesn't add any flavor at all. A crispy fried piece of seitan without breading and a hearty sauce would be better. Unfortunately, this burger doesn't get a recommendation.

Great menu with a huge selection. It's hard to know which dish to choose, so we opted for the mixed platter. Definitely enough for two people. It comes with one side dish, but otherwise, there's plenty of meat. The meat sausage was very tasty, but could have been a bit more tender. Plus, every meat dish had the same barbecue sauce, so everything tasted the same. The fries and sauces were excellent! The chef was very friendly, and we waited about 30 minutes for our food. We would definitely come back, even if it's more expensive. The outdoor area could still be improved, so it doesn't get 5 stars.

If time permits, the chef even visits his guests personally, which isn't common anymore. My conclusion: This is where I go when I want exactly this kind of food. I just don't understand the people who write that it's very overpriced near the Swiss border. Just go and eat in Switzerland and you'll know how expensive it is. Everything is freshly prepared, the food is plentiful, tastes delicious, and is prepared with lots of love. It takes a while, but it's definitely worth the wait. All ingredients come from local suppliers and are of high quality. You're happy to pay a little more for that. We had a small baby with us and received very straightforward assistance. We had to wait quite a long time for our order (including drinks) to be taken, even though there weren't many guests. We were a larger group (8 people). Unfortunately, my wife was the only one who got her burger about 15 minutes late (the manager apologized afterward, but it's still not that great). The appetizer was good. The burgers were tasty, and the portions were very large. None of us finished everything. The ribs (beef) were very tasty! A huge compliment for that!

All you can eat ribs for €30 - a really great deal!
