Ratskeller Schliersee in Schliersee

Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of German cuisine, but wow, this restaurant wowed me! The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a traditional Bavarian restaurant, and the service was incredibly friendly. We had the veal schnitzel with cranberry sauce on the first evening, and I don't usually like schnitzel; in my experience, they're always dry and lacking in flavor. But the schnitzel from the Ratskeller in a pretzel-parmesan breading was juicy and delicious, and the cranberries went perfectly with it. The fries and potato wedges served with it were also fresh and delicious. The Kaiserschmarrn was the last straw for me. I've never had such heavenly Kaiserschmarrn. It was so good that we simply had to come back the next evening. This time I tried the venison goulash with pretzel dumplings; again, a very good taste experience, especially the dumplings. The meat could have been a bit more tender, but overall I was still very satisfied—especially with another portion of the best Kaiserschmarrn. The Ratskeller made our visit much more enjoyable, and I hope I can return sometime.

If you spend 5 out of 6 evenings on vacation at the Ratskeller, that probably says it all 😊. It's a shame we ate somewhere else the first evening. Everything was just perfect. Delicious food, generous portions, great beer, fast and very friendly service, a beautiful beer garden, a great atmosphere, and, very important for me: no music outside. It was simply a wonderful evening all around. Thank you for that.

A very nice restaurant with a beautiful view and friendly staff, whether you're wearing swimwear or just arriving from the street, with plenty of space thanks to the large terrace and spacious interior. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, whether you're looking for coffee, cake, or just a portion of fries, every guest is treated with the same level of friendliness.

The food, while tasty, arrived so quickly that it's likely that it wasn't fresh but had been kept warm for a long time. The reaction to this was also noticeable at the neighboring tables. The meat in my partner's goulash, for example, was dry and tough. The ambiance, however, is truly lovely and quaint, as you'd expect from a Bavarian Ratskeller. We would come back, but only for a drink in the beer garden.

The place was packed when we went, yet the food and drinks were served with astonishing efficiency. Had a great-tasting spaghetti with chanterelle mushrooms from their seasonal menu.

The Ratskeller is generally a lovely place with good food and mostly attentive service, even if the prices are way over the top. Please note: there's no children's menu. And that's the catch. If a child wants to eat with an adult, an additional plate costs €3. And if you'd prefer fried potatoes or potato salad instead of fries, you'll have to pay €1.50 just to change the side order. So, it's not a surcharge for a more expensive side dish, but purely for the administrative process. This is all stated somewhere on the menu, but it's obviously the completely wrong way to generate additional profit margins. It's a shame, really, but that's not how it works, dear Gercken family.

A very nice beer garden. The service is perfect, super friendly and accommodating. Even when it's busy, everything runs smoothly but not hectically or without attention to detail. A very good menu with something for every taste. Very tasty and also visually appealing. The prices are reasonable for the quality and not excessive, especially the drinks, which are not, as is often the case, overpriced. Highly recommended.

Bit of a let down given the high recommendations everyone gave it. We did not have a reservation but got there and place had plenty of seating although they were not happy with no reservations, found us a table. Food was OK, nothing special, had the pork, ordered a carafe of red wine, however they delivered a carafe of red wine spritzer (soda), had one sip and queried it, told them that wasn't right and was told they didn't have red wine by the carafe. OK, they could have just said so, anyway ordered two glasses, finished our meal, got the bill and the spritzer was still on the bill, queried it, given we didn't order it or drink it, apparently it was our fault and if we wanted it taken off it would come out of the waiters pay. We didn't want that so paid the full price for something we didn't order. Will not be back.

At first we just wanted something to drink and we were treated negatively. I had to pay €3.00 for an empty Räuber plate. There was no children's menu. The waiters were annoyed by guests with children or dogs and told the guests to their faces that the chair they were sitting on was needed. This has nothing to do with hospitality. Apart from the prices, which we can afford, it's about the principle. The staff were simply rude and bitchy. I couldn't understand the many compliments regarding the toilet. You don't talk about economic problems in front of the guests. You give the children a drawing pad, even if this Ratskeller has good reviews. We have been here for two weeks now and we certainly won't go back.

Average food, but an unpleasant situation with the table Four of us were at the Ratskeller restaurant on Schliersee. We got a table without any problems – they said it wasn't a problem, even though we hadn't made a reservation. The food was okay, but rather average – nothing special, but okay. Unfortunately, our visit was interrupted by an unpleasant situation: While we were still eating (after about half an hour), the waiter came over and told us that we would have to vacate the table in about 30 minutes because it was reserved. We hadn't been informed of this beforehand, even though we had specifically asked. This seriously spoiled the experience – as a guest, you don't feel welcome, but rather shunted away.

A truly wonderful inn in the heart of Schliersee. We visited at least two or three times during our summer vacation and have already tried the entire, typically Bavarian menu – everything was excellent! And the service was also pleasant and friendly – all in all, fantastic.

The two of us tried our luck without a reservation, and it worked out wonderfully! Despite the relatively busy beer garden at 5:30 p.m., we were given a nice seat; we were able to enjoy our truly delicious meal without any time restrictions! We'd love to come back.

We celebrated my granddaughter's communion here. The communication beforehand was excellent. My request was responded to promptly and professionally. We received a very friendly welcome at the ceremony. The waitress assigned to us was very welcoming and even spoke a little Italian, accommodating all our requests. Ratskeller Schliersee – Bavarian flavors at their finest! This charming restaurant is a must-visit if you're in Schliersee. Cozy, traditional interior, friendly service, and absolutely delicious Bavarian cuisine. The atmosphere feels authentic without being touristy — perfect for a relaxing lunch or dinner after exploring the lake. I highly recommend the Schweinshaxe (roasted pork knuckle) — crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with classic sides like potato dumplings and sauerkraut. A real taste of Bavaria! To finish, treat yourself to a glass of SLYRS Bavarian Single Malt Whisky — they proudly serve it here, and it's the perfect way to experience a local specialty. I tried the SLYRS Classic and it was smooth, aromatic, and a great complement to the meal. Great food, local flair, and a perfect pairing with Schliersee's famous whisky — what more could you ask for?

The food is excellent! We were a large group, and the food was served table by table in the beer garden, which we really liked. We had a variety of food (Bavarian snacks, fish, burgers (even vegan), and meat dishes), and after the festival, many people told us how delicious it was. We sat in the shade under large umbrellas, far away from the road. All in all, I highly recommend it!

A few meters from the lake (and therefore not too crowded) is the beautifully situated Ratskeller restaurant. The food is very good, prices are fair, and service is good. There are also a few parking spaces available. We sat outside, and the outdoor area is very nicely decorated (I can't comment on the interior). I'd be happy to come back.

We attended a family celebration at the Ratskeller and were once again impressed. From the pre-arrangement (including last-minute changes to the number of guests due to train problems), to the quality of the food, to the excellent service. For us, the Ratskeller is THE restaurant in Schliersee, one we enjoy visiting again and again and recommend.

Traditional, Bavarian, delicious. We've eaten there three times; there are often new daily specials and permanent classics on the menu. The beers are delicious, especially in the beer garden on Sundays. Music is played here in the morning with zither, tuba, guitar, and folk songs.

The only issue is that the menu is in German. Thousands of foreign holiday makers visit Schliesee. Hence, menus need to be in German and the world common language English!

On a Friday afternoon at the end of May, we found a free table in the beer garden. The friendly staff served us quickly. There were two of us and we paid €27.60 for potato salad, Obatzta (traditional German sausage) with two pretzels, an Almdudler (a traditional German beer), and a wheat beer/cola. The allergens weren't listed on the menu, but when asked, they quickly answered. The fried potatoes were gluten-free, but very oily (still very tasty). The Obatzta (traditional German sausage) was also delicious and presumably freshly made in-house. Card and contactless payments are no problem here. There were water fountains at the entrance for our four-legged friends. The beer garden is located in a quiet location, behind the town hall, but not directly on Schliersee.
