Der Ratskeller in beeindruckender sächsischer Renaissancearchitektur aus dem 15. Jahrhundert ist eine der ersten Adressen am Markt. Das freundliche Team schafft mit viel Leidenschaft für den Gast eine warme, gemütliche Atmosphäre und echte Gastlichkeit. Die Küche überzeugt mit klaren, geschmackvollen Gerichten, die von der Thüringer Küche geprägt sind und zugleich internationale Einflüsse sowie saisonales Gemüse gekonnt integrieren. Das Serviceteam arbeitet aufmerksam und zügig, während die Speisen durch Qualität und Geschmack überzeugen. Insgesamt ein rundum stimmiges kulinarisches Erlebnis in besonderem Ambiente.

Wir waren rundum zufrieden. Das Ambiente hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Eine Mischung aus historisch und modern mit Liebe zum Detail. Das Essen war super lecker. Die Auswahl auch top. Man kann sowohl vegetarisch als auch mit Fleischgerichten sehr auf seine Kosten kommen. Der Service hat uns auch gut gefallen. Da noch eine große Gruppe gleichzeitig mit uns vor Ort war, wirkte die Bedienung zeitweise etwas in Eile. Aber das wurde durch ein freundliches Lächeln wettgemacht. Wir kommen gern wieder. Große Empfehlung!

Wir feierten gestern Abend einen runden Geburtstag. Alleine schon das Ambiente dieser Gastlichkeit ist einen Besuch wert. Wir wurden vom sehr, sehr freundlichen Kellner herzlich begrüßt und er sprach auch im Namen des Ratskellers Geburtstagsglückwunsche aus. Das war schon ein toller Einstieg in den Abend. Der reservierte Tisch für 10 Gäste war sehr geschmackvoll eingedeckt. Wir fühlten uns ab der ersten Minute sehr wohl. Hier ist der Gast willkommen. Das Essen war meeeeega. Ein riesen Lob an den Koch bzw. die Köchin und deren Mitarbeiter. Geschmacklich herausragend, jede Speise war mit Liebe angerichtet und reichlich. Besser gehts nicht. Ebenso natürlich die Getränke. Für mich zur Zeit das beste Restaurant in Saalfeld. Und ich bin wirklich ein kritischer Gast, lol. Ich bedanke mich nochmals auf diesem Wege, auch im Namen meiner Gäste, für diesen sehr gelungen Abend und werde Sie wärmstens weiter empfehlen.

👍🏽😄 Ein Mittagessen zum Sonntag und alle waren begeistert . Zufällig gab es auch das Klossbuffet welches einige unsere 7 köpfigen Truppe testete. Ebenso a la Card. Der Service war herausragend, das Essen fantastisch und Preis Leistung absolut gegeben. Ein gelungener Wochenabschluss, mit der perfekten Belohnung 😍 Danke und Bis bald an das Ratskeller Team ☺️

Das Ambiente ist der Hammer, die Bedienung ist freundlich, allerdings je länger der Aufenthalt ist, desto weniger aufmerksam wird die Bedienung, das Essen war sehr schön angerichtet, allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass ich schon bessere Burger gegessen habe. Alles in allem dennoch ein schöner Abend mit lieben Menschen verbracht in einem wunderschönen Restaurant ♥️

Nach herzlicher Begrüßung bekamen wir einen schönen Tisch zugewiesen. Der Raum ist vielleicht etwas groß, jedoch hübsch arrangiert. Die Speicherkarte ist lecker und bietet für jeden Gaumen etwas an...und falls nicht, wird es mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht und einem Zwinkern passend gemacht. Herzlichen Dank ihr Lieben! Wir haben letztes WE einen Doppelgeburtstag gefeiert in einer wunderschönen historischen Location Von Saalfeld.Das Ratskellerteam hat uns ein tolles Buffet geboten mit einer vielfältigen Küche , die sehr schmackhaft War.Dafür bedanken wir uns sehr bei dem Küchenpersonal. Die sehr kompetente, freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung Durch das Ratskellerteam hat uns sehr gefallen. Auch war die Beratung und Organisation im Vorhinein sehr effektiv und kompetent. Daher bedanken wir uns sehr herzlich.

Tolles Ambiente, hervorragend schmeckende regionale Gerichte und Servicemitarbeiter, die aufmerksam sind und bei denen der Gast merkt, dass die Arbeit Spaß macht...gern immer wieder und sehr zu empfehlen!

Ein wunderschönes Restaurant im Herzen Saalfelds. Der Ratskeller begeistert mit rustikalem Charme, traditioneller Küche und einem Service, der durch Aufmerksamkeit und Herzlichkeit hervorsticht.

War heute zum Kloßbuffet im Ratskeller. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Es gab neben den Klößen Wild, Pute und Rouladen. Das gesamte Buffet wurde regelmäßig wieder aufgefüllt. Die Bedienung war freundlich und die Getränke wurden schnell an den Tisch gebracht obwohl viel los war. Einen Besuch kann ich nur empfehlen.

Hatten einen wunderschönen Abend mit Kollegen, die Mitarbeiter immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht, das Essen sehr schmackhaft. Nach dem Motto,, Das Auge ißt mit,, wurden wir nicht enttäuscht. Die Weinkarte umfangreich und bestimmt für jeden Gaumen was dabei. Diese Ambiente kann man guten Gewissens zu 100 Prozent weiterempfehlen. Nochmals ein großes Lob und ein herzliches Dankeschön für den tollen Abend.

Food good and plentiful, prepared with attention to detail

Dumplings and sauce—that was our motto when choosing a restaurant. And luckily, we ended up at the Ratskeller. Combined with roulade and sauerbraten, it transported us straight back to our grandmother's childhood. Thank you so much for that.

Very delicious food, high praise to the kitchen. Lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. Really very good. Half a star deducted because our table (outside) still had noticeable drink stains from previous guests, and another half a star deducted because none of the three waiters noticed. For a €35 dinner per person including one drink, I expect the table to be quickly wiped down after each guest. Given the truly good quality of the food, it would be a shame if a picky guest like me found something to complain about. Perhaps we were just unlucky with the table; please pay attention to such small things, and then there will only be 5-star reviews. Thank you for the overall excellent service.

What was particularly nice: Our table was lovingly and discreetly decorated upon request – just right for an anniversary. Thank you for this tasteful touch! The service? Simply top-notch! The staff is truly on the ball, consistently friendly, attentive without being intrusive. You feel welcome and well looked after from the very first moment. The kitchen? A dream. You can't see it – but you can taste the skill and passion in every course. We had two starters, two main courses, two desserts, plus wine, water, and coffee – and it was spot-on from start to finish. Finely balanced, with refinement, but without unnecessary gimmicks. Honest, high-quality cuisine with great attention to detail. For me personally, the Ratskeller is not only one of the best restaurants in Thuringia, but probably a true gem even beyond the state's borders. There's absolutely nothing to complain about – on the contrary: It's impossible to award as many stars as this restaurant deserves. Unreservedly recommended! We'll be back – no question.

We celebrated our confirmation last weekend at the Ratskeller. We had already made a reservation in October. But since there were only 25 of us, it would have been difficult to celebrate alone in the hall. The friendly restaurant manager promised to make everything possible. I myself was really skeptical that everything would work out the way we imagined. We were all the more pleasantly surprised when we were welcomed to the celebration. The Ratskeller team, thank you so much again, did everything possible to ensure we could celebrate undisturbed. Our expectations were exceeded many times over, and it was simply an unforgettable celebration! The coordination with the chef regarding the buffet was very professional, and many thanks to him and his team as well! The restaurant manager and her team were also very friendly and professional, something you rarely see these days. All in all, an unforgettable confirmation! Many thanks to the entire Ratskeller team; you can tell that you all put your heart and soul into the restaurant business!

Actually, everything was great, but the fact that the waitress was wiping dust off the windowsills while we were waiting for our food and also stepped onto the seat cushions with her shoes on was quite inappropriate and contradicts the upscale ambience.

I can only recommend it. There were four of us there and everyone had a different meal. In terms of taste, they were all of good quality. A good idea is the half meter beer where you can taste 5 different types of beer from Saalfelder. Due to the nice weather we were able to use the beer garden.

Delicious starters and main courses. The service was very, very nice. The toilets are also super clean. Important: you can reach the guest room with a walker or wheelchair.

Today we spent a wonderful evening in the Ratskeller in Saalfeld. Despite our spontaneous decision to eat there, we got a great table. We were seated a little away from the other guests, which was ideal as we were traveling with our two dogs and therefore had enough space. The team's attentiveness was particularly impressive - our four-legged friends were immediately provided with a water bowl, which is really exceptionally attentive these days. The service was consistently friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and we were completely impressed. What is particularly noteworthy is that our son's special wishes were fulfilled without any problems. Price and performance are absolutely right here - we felt very comfortable and are thrilled with the atmosphere and quality of the Ratskeller. A big thank you to the team for this successful evening. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

It's been a few days, but grandma's birthday meal shouldn't go uncommented. IT WAS GREAT... Rarely, if not almost never, have all the guests not only felt comfortable, but also completely welcomed, understood and met on an equal level, as here and in this group. With calm, friendliness and calm sovereignty, everything that evening was simply cool. It's not easy to be happy together with allergy and intolerance guests, but you did it. The waiters Chris and Cornelius took great care of us. The food was sometimes different than expected, but tasted good. Just a little less onions or vegetables would be good for the roulades. And I know the Viennese style schnitzel warm and not cold. We'll definitely come back

We went to the very well-attended Ratskeller for Sunday lunch. We had a beautifully set table and were served quickly and friendly. The five of us each chose something different and we were more than surprised with the presentation and taste of the food. Very, very tasty and good ideas to try something different. From dumplings to fish, everything was there and each of us was more than satisfied. The atmosphere is very appealing and despite the crowd it was easy to have a conversation and we were always asked if we needed anything else, etc. Very positive feedback from me and see you soon

The food was incredibly tasty and overall there was a great menu with many exciting dishes. The service was impeccable, we had a good time that evening. Which you could tell a bit from the waiting time. A cozy place both inside and outside. It makes you want to linger even longer after your meal. The half meter beer is particularly recommended for anyone who enjoys the local art of brewing.

A few years ago we found the “Ratskeller” in beautiful Saalfeld, right on the market square. Back then we really liked it here and tasted it too. However, our last visit was rather sobering. My veal liver ragout was rather leathery and consisted of over 50% onions, fried and dry-fried onions from the package. I paid €19.50. The rump steak was well cooked even though we ordered it medium. I also don't think this is reasonable at €28.50. The waitress was very friendly when she came.

There were three of us there with a child. The food was very good and filling, the prices are reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Nice restaurant with ambience 😃. If I am in Saalfeld again, I would like to come back.

We had dinner in the Ratskeller on July 20, 2024 and our expectations were far exceeded. A beautiful restaurant in the town hall, with really great outdoor dining. The meal was excellent. First there was smoked duck breast, then there was smoked duck breast. Rump steak with homemade. Fries and a really great herb butter. My wife had pork medallions with mushroom cream, croquettes and a side salad. Here too: perfect! After a delicious ice cream sundae and some drinks, we had a quick chat with the friendly service team. There is also a shortage of staff in the Ratskeller in Saalfeld, both in service and in the kitchen, but even with the restaurant and the terrace being full that evening, none of the guests noticed what rhinestones this team was exposed to. Respect for this brilliant achievement. Despite a larger group next to us (a birthday), no one sat in front of empty glasses for even a moment. The service team had everything firmly under control and, above all, in view! If we are in the area again, we will definitely visit you again and stop by.

We sat in the garden. Fast service, extensive menu but limited ordering options due to limited cuisine. Food very tasty and relatively cheap. We didn't regret the visit.

All around great restaurant. We went there for the first time yesterday and will definitely do it again because the taste of the food was simply amazing. The sauerbraten in particular was one of the best I've ever had. The only drawback was that we couldn't get in to order dessert due to the great starters and the good quantities. 😜

I wanted to eat real German cuisine again and found what I was looking for here - very tasty beef roulade with Thuringian dumplings and red cabbage. Delicious . Unfortunately I had to leave a dumpling on the plate, such a great portion. Thanks for the enjoyment

Today we celebrated the baptism of our children in the Ratskeller. We took part in the traditional dumpling buffet. It exceeded all of our expectations. The really sophisticated and modern decoration of the festive table was a great sight for everyone. The food was also very diverse and tasty. There were many guests present, but the buffet was well stocked and looked after by the kitchen crew. The last point worth mentioning is the quick and friendly service staff. We had a spontaneous meal here today with the family. Spontaneously a table for nine is always a thing, but it wasn't a problem. Everyone enjoyed it and I was very pleased that the asparagus wasn't cooked to death and, above all, that the kitchen took the trouble to prepare a real sauce hollondaise. A very lovely and charming restaurant in the middle of the medieval old town serving locally crafted beer which can be ordered as a sampling of small glasses. The mixed tapas were very good especially the piquant salad and meat patties. The main courses were all very well executed. Try to get a seat by the window if dining as a couple for an elevated experience!

We wanted to enjoy a not so big dinner and made a perfect choice with tapas and ragout fin. The pleasant atmosphere and friendly service made this restaurant visit an experience.

The food was great, the staff was super friendly and you can tell that they want to inspire customers to come back. Went there twice for dinner with 9 people. The food is excellent and the service is incredibly friendly and attentive. The restaurant is in the center and there are no parking spaces available (as far as I know). The prices are higher. We'll definitely come back when we get the chance.

The absolutely perfect, uncomplicated and professional organization by the entire restaurant team made the party an unforgettable experience. Everything was great, everyone was super nice and the food was amazing.

The food was delicious and the price/performance ratio was also okay. One should not forget that this restaurant is about fine dining. You notice this not only in the presentation and garnish of the dish but also in the composition of the different flavors on the plate; everything was coordinated and an absolute taste explosion. The service was also great for the number of guests and we had our food within 15 minutes. Ms. Zahn also responded immediately to our small complaint that we had while eating and issued a voucher. We will be back definitely.

Dumplings had too little salt, the roulade sauce and red cabbage could have tasted more!
