Great restaurant! We spontaneously went here yesterday with eight people, and the food was excellent. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly! Perfect all around.

Very friendly staff, you feel welcome. The ambiance, especially inside, is simply wonderful. The food is excellent, a feast for the eyes and the palate. The portions are very filling. Highly recommended.

Everyone was very satisfied with our food. The service was super friendly and immediately helpful with souvenir photos. The interior is very comfortable. We'd be happy to go again.

Very delicious food, high praise to the kitchen. Lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. Really very good. Half a star deducted because our table (outside) still had noticeable drink stains from previous guests, and another half a star deducted because none of the three waiters noticed. For a €35 dinner per person including one drink, I expect the table to be quickly wiped down after each guest. Given the truly good quality of the food, it would be a shame if a picky guest like me found something to complain about. Perhaps we were just unlucky with the table; please pay attention to such small things, and then there will only be 5-star reviews. Thank you for the overall excellent service.

What was particularly nice: Our table was lovingly and discreetly decorated upon request – just right for an anniversary. Thank you for this tasteful touch! The service? Simply top-notch! The staff is truly on the ball, consistently friendly, attentive without being intrusive. You feel welcome and well looked after from the very first moment. The kitchen? A dream. You can't see it – but you can taste the skill and passion in every course. We had two starters, two main courses, two desserts, plus wine, water, and coffee – and it was spot-on from start to finish. Finely balanced, with refinement, but without unnecessary gimmicks. Honest, high-quality cuisine with great attention to detail. For me personally, the Ratskeller is not only one of the best restaurants in Thuringia, but probably a true gem even beyond the state's borders. There's absolutely nothing to complain about – on the contrary: It's impossible to award as many stars as this restaurant deserves. Unreservedly recommended! We'll be back – no question.

We celebrated our confirmation last weekend at the Ratskeller. We had already made a reservation in October. But since there were only 25 of us, it would have been difficult to celebrate alone in the hall. The friendly restaurant manager promised to make everything possible. I myself was really skeptical that everything would work out the way we imagined. We were all the more pleasantly surprised when we were welcomed to the celebration. The Ratskeller team, thank you so much again, did everything possible to ensure we could celebrate undisturbed. Our expectations were exceeded many times over, and it was simply an unforgettable celebration! The coordination with the chef regarding the buffet was very professional, and many thanks to him and his team as well! The restaurant manager and her team were also very friendly and professional, something you rarely see these days. All in all, an unforgettable confirmation! Many thanks to the entire Ratskeller team; you can tell that you all put your heart and soul into the restaurant business!

Actually, everything was great, but the fact that the waitress was wiping dust off the windowsills while we were waiting for our food and also stepped onto the seat cushions with her shoes on was quite inappropriate and contradicts the upscale ambience.

I can only recommend it. There were four of us there and everyone had a different meal. In terms of taste, they were all of good quality. A good idea is the half meter beer where you can taste 5 different types of beer from Saalfelder. Due to the nice weather we were able to use the beer garden.

Delicious starters and main courses. The service was very, very nice. The toilets are also super clean. Important: you can reach the guest room with a walker or wheelchair.

Top cuisine, very nice service and a very nice ambience. We had, among other things, the Angus beef burger - it was excellent.

Today we spent a wonderful evening in the Ratskeller in Saalfeld. Despite our spontaneous decision to eat there, we got a great table. We were seated a little away from the other guests, which was ideal as we were traveling with our two dogs and therefore had enough space. The team's attentiveness was particularly impressive - our four-legged friends were immediately provided with a water bowl, which is really exceptionally attentive these days. The service was consistently friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and we were completely impressed. What is particularly noteworthy is that our son's special wishes were fulfilled without any problems. Price and performance are absolutely right here - we felt very comfortable and are thrilled with the atmosphere and quality of the Ratskeller. A big thank you to the team for this successful evening. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

It's been a few days, but grandma's birthday meal shouldn't go uncommented. IT WAS GREAT... Rarely, if not almost never, have all the guests not only felt comfortable, but also completely welcomed, understood and met on an equal level, as here and in this group. With calm, friendliness and calm sovereignty, everything that evening was simply cool. It's not easy to be happy together with allergy and intolerance guests, but you did it. The waiters Chris and Cornelius took great care of us. The food was sometimes different than expected, but tasted good. Just a little less onions or vegetables would be good for the roulades. And I know the Viennese style schnitzel warm and not cold. We'll definitely come back

We went to the very well-attended Ratskeller for Sunday lunch. We had a beautifully set table and were served quickly and friendly. The five of us each chose something different and we were more than surprised with the presentation and taste of the food. Very, very tasty and good ideas to try something different. From dumplings to fish, everything was there and each of us was more than satisfied. The atmosphere is very appealing and despite the crowd it was easy to have a conversation and we were always asked if we needed anything else, etc. Very positive feedback from me and see you soon

The food was incredibly tasty and overall there was a great menu with many exciting dishes. The service was impeccable, we had a good time that evening. Which you could tell a bit from the waiting time. A cozy place both inside and outside. It makes you want to linger even longer after your meal. The half meter beer is particularly recommended for anyone who enjoys the local art of brewing.

A few years ago we found the “Ratskeller” in beautiful Saalfeld, right on the market square. Back then we really liked it here and tasted it too. However, our last visit was rather sobering. My veal liver ragout was rather leathery and consisted of over 50% onions, fried and dry-fried onions from the package. I paid €19.50. The rump steak was well cooked even though we ordered it medium. I also don't think this is reasonable at €28.50. The waitress was very friendly when she came.

There were three of us there with a child. The food was very good and filling, the prices are reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Nice restaurant with ambience 😃. If I am in Saalfeld again, I would like to come back.

We had dinner in the Ratskeller on July 20, 2024 and our expectations were far exceeded. A beautiful restaurant in the town hall, with really great outdoor dining. The meal was excellent. First there was smoked duck breast, then there was smoked duck breast. Rump steak with homemade. Fries and a really great herb butter. My wife had pork medallions with mushroom cream, croquettes and a side salad. Here too: perfect! After a delicious ice cream sundae and some drinks, we had a quick chat with the friendly service team. There is also a shortage of staff in the Ratskeller in Saalfeld, both in service and in the kitchen, but even with the restaurant and the terrace being full that evening, none of the guests noticed what rhinestones this team was exposed to. Respect for this brilliant achievement. Despite a larger group next to us (a birthday), no one sat in front of empty glasses for even a moment. The service team had everything firmly under control and, above all, in view! If we are in the area again, we will definitely visit you again and stop by.

We sat in the garden. Fast service, extensive menu but limited ordering options due to limited cuisine. Food very tasty and relatively cheap. We didn't regret the visit.

All around great restaurant. We went there for the first time yesterday and will definitely do it again because the taste of the food was simply amazing. The sauerbraten in particular was one of the best I've ever had. The only drawback was that we couldn't get in to order dessert due to the great starters and the good quantities. 😜

Today we celebrated the baptism of our children in the Ratskeller. We took part in the traditional dumpling buffet. It exceeded all of our expectations. The really sophisticated and modern decoration of the festive table was a great sight for everyone. The food was also very diverse and tasty. There were many guests present, but the buffet was well stocked and looked after by the kitchen crew. The last point worth mentioning is the quick and friendly service staff. We had a spontaneous meal here today with the family. Spontaneously a table for nine is always a thing, but it wasn't a problem. Everyone enjoyed it and I was very pleased that the asparagus wasn't cooked to death and, above all, that the kitchen took the trouble to prepare a real sauce hollondaise. You won't find any of these, which are now very rare. And especially when you're a chef yourself, you're unfortunately always a bit demanding, but I was very satisfied

A very lovely and charming restaurant in the middle of the medieval old town serving locally crafted beer which can be ordered as a sampling of small glasses. The mixed tapas were very good especially the piquant salad and meat patties. The main courses were all very well executed. Try to get a seat by the window if dining as a couple for an elevated experience!

We wanted to enjoy a not so big dinner and made a perfect choice with tapas and ragout fin. The pleasant atmosphere and friendly service made this restaurant visit an experience.

The food was great, the staff was super friendly and you can tell that they want to inspire customers to come back. There were two of us and we got a very special place at the window so that we could take a look at the Sradt. All I can say about the food is that everything was good, the meat was great and the meat was also very good. But all in all a really good restaurant. Went there twice for dinner with 9 people. The food is excellent and the service is incredibly friendly and attentive. The restaurant is in the center and there are no parking spaces available (as far as I know). The prices are higher. We'll definitely come back when we get the chance.

The absolutely perfect, uncomplicated and professional organization by the entire restaurant team made the party an unforgettable experience. Everything was great, everyone was super nice and the food was amazing.

The food was delicious and the price/performance ratio was also okay. One should not forget that this restaurant is about fine dining. You notice this not only in the presentation and garnish of the dish but also in the composition of the different flavors on the plate; everything was coordinated and an absolute taste explosion. The service was also great for the number of guests and we had our food within 15 minutes. Ms. Zahn also responded immediately to our small complaint that we had while eating and issued a voucher. We will be back definitely.

Dumplings had too little salt, the roulade sauce and red cabbage could have tasted more!

Wir waren am 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag dort. Wir waren ca 30 Personen. Ich habe von meiner Familie nur positives gehört über das Essen sowie den Service. Unserer Tisch ( wir waren auf 2 Tische aufgeteilt) hat ein ganz netter junger Mann bedient, er hat immer gefragt ob wir noch Getränkewünsche hätten bzw ob alles in Ordnung ist. Auch seine jungen Kolleginnen waren sehr freundlich. Wir haben gleich nach dem bezahlen gesagt das wir auf alle Fälle wieder kommen. Trotz das es Weihnachten war, wo immer viel los ist, wir so eine große Anzahl an Personen waren, hat das Team super Arbeit geleistet. Ich möchte auch unbedingt nochmal erwähnen das unser aller Essen sehr gut war, wir mussten auch nicht lange warten. Wir waren rundum begeistert. Vielen Dank an das ganze Team.

Ein spätes Mittagessen ist vor allem sonntags in Saalfeld schwer zu kriegen. Umso mehr freute es uns, dass es hier nicht nur möglich, sondern auch sehr köstlich war. Ein äußerst freundliches und umsichtiges Personal muss auf jeden Fall auch noch erwähnt werden. Der Ratskeller ist immer ein Besuch wert. Das Essen war heute Mittag zum Buffet l wieder absolut lecker und auch die Bedienung wie immer spitze. Ihr seid einfach super toll und wir kommen gerne wieder zu euch. Ganz ganz großes Lob an das gesamte Team.

In trauter Zweisamkeit unserer Gourmetherzen genossen wir am heutigen Mittag folgende Schmankerl Saalfelder Kochkunst: Überblick der Gerichte: 1. Steinpilzcremsuppe 2. Rinderroulade mit Thüringer Klößen 3. Hähnchensteak "Strindberg" Andrés Schwärmereien im Detail: (Für derart liebevoll zubereitete Speisen, nehm ich mir extra Zeit für den Testbericht:) Grundsätzlich ist Martinas Team bekannt für Kompetenz in jeglichem Bereich. Versiert, flink, freundlich und gutaussehend, wurden wir im rustikalen Ambiente des alterwürdigen Ratskellers....befriedigt. Ja ich ersetze das Wort "bedient" mit letzterem Verb. Denn genau damit endete unser Mittagsausflug nach Saalfeld... Gesättigt, in voller Zufriedenheit mit der superben Küche des Hauses "Zahn", auf den ich zu gerne fühle wenn ich in der Nähe bin. Liebe Leser, beim Anblick der mir servierten Steinpilz- Cremesuppe bekam ich Herzklopfen, beim ersten Löffel wurden Endorphine freigesetzt wie ich es sonst nur von manch Bettgeschichte kannte. Das ist kein 5 Minuten Cremesüppchen, das ist ein Gedicht zu Ehren des Steinpilzes. Was für ne Hausnummer!!!! Nix Pilzpulver im Soßenbinder, diese Ode deutscher Steinpilzmanufaktur, war durchsetzt mit dieser Delikatesse, bestehend aus reichlich Früchten des leckeren Hutträgers. Cremigst verfeinert mit Knoblauchchips und Schnittlauchröllchen. Das frische Baguette hab ich liegen lassen um den Geschmack nicht zu entfremden. Ich habe mich sprichwörtlich in diese Suppe verliebt🥰 Von der Menge im Übrigen derart sättigend, das ich erstmals meine Hauptspeise, in Form eines Hähnchensteaks "Strindberg" nicht schaffte. Ummantelt von einer Zwiebel-Senfkruste, schmeichelte ein saftiges Steak aus frisch gerupftem Hahn oder Huhn meinen verwöhnten Gaumen. Mediterane Grilltomate, mit den besten Bratkartoffeln Saalfelds....hach ich würde so gern mal eine Woche im Ratskeller wohnen.... Kommen wir zur Roulade meiner hübschen Begleitung: Roulade el Gigantes, ein riesiges Stück Handwerkskunst aus Ratskellers Küche. Der Koch muß das studiert haben. Perfekt gerolltes, saftiges Fleisch, gefüllt mit einer geheimen Komposition, bei der mir jetzt noch das Wasser im Munde zusammen läuft. 5 Sterne Rotkraut und echte Thüringer Klöße von denen ich behaupten kann "die kann Mutti auch nicht besser..." Liebe Freunde gutem Essens, ein Besuch im Ratskeller Eurerseits gehört für Leckermäuler nicht nur zum guten Ton, es ist Eure Pflicht dort zu dinnieren. Stiftung Andrétest Prädikat: Par Excelente

Mitten in Saalfeld am Markt gibt es ein Restaurant wo man immerwieder gerne einkehrt. Das Essen ist lecker und das Ambiente angenehm. Was aber das allerbeste ist, die Leute dort machen ihren Job gern. Freundlich und immer gut drauf, das findet man heutzutage eher selten. Macht weiter so!

Schönes Ambiente mit sehr guter Küche, die Roulade und die Klöße waren ausgezeichnet. Das Restaurant war heute sehr gut besucht und die Wartezeiten auf das Essen waren absolut im grünen Bereich. Hervorzuheben ist die Freundlichkeit des Personals. Es blieb auch noch die Zeit für ein kurzes, aber sehr nettes Gespräch mit der Bedienung. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder, gern auch bei warmen Temperaturen auf der Terrasse.

Wir haben vergangenes Wochenende den Ratskeller besucht und das Kloß Buffet probiert. Das Essen war super lecker und frisch. Hier wird definitiv wert auf Qualität gelegt. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Äußerst nette Bedienung und Top Essen. Wir hatten den Gulasch, die Ente und die Roulade. Das Essen liest sich auf der Karte aber generell sehr gut. Wenn man allerdings von der Tagesmittagskarte was haben möchte, sollte man pünktlich zum mittag da sein :). Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Wir hatten Schnitzel bestellt. Das Fleisch war grau und ähnelte einer Schuhsohle. Zu Beginn des Abends hatte ich einen Hugo geordert, der lecker war. Wir waren schon des öfteren in dieser Gaststätte und sind noch nie und so freundlich wie hier bedient wurden.Das Essen ist im Geschmack und der ganzen Aufmachung und Anrichtung auf dem Teller nicht zu überbieten.Grosses Lob an die Küche. Das ganze Restaurant ist so richtig für ein tolles Mittagessen oder Abendessen in einer gepflegten Atmosphäre, man fühlt sich richtig als Gast Willkommen.Besonders die Kellner sind in ihrer Freundlichkeit hervorzuheben.Also immer wieder!
