I was there for breakfast, a great offer. Great service.

It was very loud, the background music was annoying, and the volume of the music made the guests' voices grow louder. The food was okay. The ambiance was also OK.

The drinks were great; the cocktails were really tasty, well prepared, and chilled. Always worth a visit.

We've been to this restaurant several times now, and the female service is unbearable! So unfriendly. I would change the staff. Whenever we asked questions, they just gave us stupid looks and grumpy answers. We wanted to change an ingredient on our burger, and this was done reluctantly and with a rolling of the eyes. I can't recommend it, and that was the last time we went there.

We were there on August 11, 2025, around 3 p.m. The service was very friendly and quick. We had the baked potato with salad, the Asian bowl, and a Coconut Kiss, all highly recommended and delicious. The value for money was also good. Highly recommended!

Hello. This restaurant doesn't deserve a single star. The staff are not only unfriendly, but lazy, blind, and completely overwhelmed. Even after being asked to place an order, the waitress ignores her customers, even after a full 30 minutes of waiting. When asked if the table is still being served, she receives an impertinent "Yes," followed by another 10 minutes of no response from the useless staff. We left in protest and will advise everyone not to visit this restaurant. The staff are too slow, lazy, blind, and unfriendly, and they shouldn't even be working in a smelly dishwashing job.

We only had a few drinks. Everything was great! Very nice location!! We'll be back.

We have always enjoyed being customers at R-Café. On Sunday, June 22nd, eight of us plus our baby booked for breakfast. Unfortunately, the reserved table was very small, so we had to sit in a cramped space – it worked somehow, but it wasn't ideal. The wait times at the buffet were also noticeably long, further spoiling the overall impression. The real, big problem, however, was that two people in our group left breakfast early and paid separately. Nevertheless, in the end, breakfast was billed again for all eight guests, meaning the remaining six people paid twice for two breakfasts. At the checkout, we were assured that the money would be refunded – to this day, over a month later, nothing has happened. Instead, we were simply offered a "free" meal. Even after contacting them several times, we didn't receive any refund. (See more reviews below) We have been loyal guests for a long time – breakfast, in particular, was a regular reason for us to come. It is all the more disappointing that a clear billing error has not been addressed appropriately. A simple refund would have maintained their trust – unfortunately, the impression remains that little value is placed on goodwill and fairness. This leaves a very bad feeling. Should the situation change, I will of course update this review.

It took a really long time for us to get our food. The countertop in the women's restroom was incredibly disgusting. It felt like no one had cleaned it in a long time. There was no toilet paper at all in the accessible restroom.

We celebrated our wedding at the R-Café. The R-Café offers a truly fantastic location with a direct view of Lake Lohnersee. Anka Fielers' team also provided excellent service, and the food was very good. We would do it again in a heartbeat. 👍 Thank you so much. 🫶

Beautiful location right on the lake. Unfortunately, the food tasted like a ready-made meal. The worst thing was the dark-haired female server. She deserves a Google review. There was no "please" or "thank you." Not a hint of a smile. And unfortunately, she was very rude to us. After that incident, we should have gotten up and left immediately! But you don't want to ruin your evening, as you were actually looking forward to the visit. Unfortunately, the worst advertisement for a restaurant. We felt uncomfortable and definitely not welcome. This automatically means that we won't make a reservation again.

Hello, unfortunately, we overpaid as mentioned below. We have reminded the restaurant several times, but have received no response. We have always been happy guests at this restaurant. To date, we have still not received a refund for the double breakfast. Very disappointing, despite three telephone warnings. Unfortunately, this problem has not been resolved.

We've been to R Café Lohne several times. But this will be our last visit for a while. The breakfast buffet costs €23.45 on weekends, but they only serve one orange juice these days. The first time we ordered, we got a pot of coffee quickly. But the second and third time we ordered, there was no pot at all. The coffee was still running, they said. We waited a good 30 minutes for coffee and never got it. The only positive thing was the buffet; it was quickly refilled. But that doesn't make up for the bad experience. You used to have to reserve tables on weekends, but that's obviously no longer necessary.

Unfortunately, our first visit wasn't so great. We had a good seat, and for a Sunday afternoon it was busy. After a while, we managed to place our drinks order. Although other guests arrived after us, some received theirs faster than us. Well, when we asked, our drinks did arrive. We immediately ordered another round and a bite to eat. However, we were immediately warned that we might get our food before the drinks, which is exactly what happened. We also noticed that other tables weren't being served, and people were leaving. The staff were obviously overwhelmed. What a shame, considering the location is so great.

Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with my first visit. My ravioli had a fly embedded in it. Of course, I politely returned the food. In such cases, one should expect friendliness and an apology. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything of the sort. The food came back the same, only without the fly. Of course, that can happen, but it's only acceptable with a polite, small apology. And that's something they really need to work on!

July 22, 2025 at 5:35 p.m.: In the women's restroom, three of the four soap dispensers were empty. One was broken. I reported my observation to the employee working behind the counter. She assured me she would take care of it. To make sure she would act on her words, I waited and watched her unnoticed. When she made no move after more than five minutes, I turned to the friendly employee who had served us at the table. I also noticed that there were numerous small pieces of toilet paper scattered on the floor of the women's restroom. There was no list in the entire women's restroom area that would allow guests to determine when the room had last been cleaned or inspected. Not a good sign!

We have been to your place several times and it was always very good in most cases. The location on the lake is great and very inviting.

I drove to R-Café in good spirits, for a cold beer and maybe a snack, at least in my imagination. (I'm from Nordhorn) I sat at my table for almost 10 minutes without anyone asking if I wanted to order something. When the server finally arrived, a young lady with blonde hair (in a ponytail), I pointed out that I couldn't get a menu outside and that I should order on the website. A storm was coming, so they were putting everything away, otherwise they wouldn't be able to get it all in in time. It's about to start... I could have had five more drinks and something to eat, but it's only just starting to rain. I got there shortly after 5 p.m. No compromise or anything... I stayed there a little longer, but by the lake, and I left the restaurant without ordering anything!! Some people came after me, were served, and were able to drink their beer on the terrace. I could watch this from where I was sitting. Guests should be allowed to decide, as long as it's dry, whether they want to eat outside or not. If it had started to rain, I could still have sat inside. So I'd just like to say thank you for nothing!! I've never experienced anything like this there before... what a shame wasting gas for nothing. Unfortunately, no ⭐️ Zero in all categories.

We went for brunch on the weekend and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was good, but we did have to wait a while for someone to come. The selection at the breakfast buffet was sufficient and very tasty. However, you only get one orange juice per person, and you have to pay extra for water. This surprised us quite a bit compared to other breakfast buffets. The buffet costs "only" €23.45 on the weekend. However, at other locations you get more for €25 and it's ultimately cheaper (we paid €30 per person). If you don't absolutely need water and plenty of juice, you can have a good breakfast here for the price. We wouldn't necessarily recommend it. It's a shame.

Unfortunately, disappointing – no response despite multiple contact attempts over the past four weeks. On June 22nd, I went to brunch with my family at the R-Café in Lohne. Unfortunately, I was mistakenly overcharged for two brunch buffets, even though my sister and her husband had already paid in advance. I was assured on-site that someone would contact me and the money (€46.90) would be refunded. Since then, I've followed up several times by phone and also sent an email with all the details and a photo of the receipt – to date, no response. This is truly disappointing, especially because the error is clearly visible. Friendly service doesn't end with payment – unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be a given here. I sincerely hope that the R-Café addresses this matter soon. If anything changes, I'll be happy to update my review.

Anka, as event manager, and her fantastic team did a fantastic job implementing all my wishes and had many tips and suggestions for this special evening. 🥂 The delicious food, the attentive service, and the fantastic location right on the Lohner Freizeitsee lake made this evening an unforgettable memory for me and, ideally, for my guests. Last weekend was an extreme challenge for our waitress Gül: Staff shortages, an unexpected ice cream shortage, and a high customer demand created enormous pressure. Despite everything, Gül worked with all her heart and dedication – even with tears in her eyes. Because even the strongest people reach their limits at some point. It was particularly sad that despite her efforts, a complaint was received – even though Gül always tried to act respectfully and kindly. A guest complained about the consistency of his ice cream. Of course, he didn't have to pay for it as compensation – and was even offered an extra drink. All purely as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, the situation was misunderstood, even though Gül never "refused" anything. On the contrary: Despite being overworked, she reacted kindly and tried to accommodate all guests. It is admirable how Gül continued to work even through tears, didn't interrupt service, and always gave her best amidst stress, misunderstandings, and staff shortages. Gül is a waitress with heart, backbone, and a true sense of responsibility. Thank you for your strength, courage, and dedication – you deserve respect, not criticism. We'll be back – see you soon! ❤️

Unfortunately, it was disappointing. A main ingredient was missing, so we couldn't order several dishes. The drinks arrived late, along with the food. That's a shame. I just want to sip my cocktail, so waiting for the food isn't a problem. Several drinks were forgotten, and we had to ask several times until everything was brought. The same thing happened with the second round. Please fix that. The ambiance is beautiful, and the food was delicious, too.

First of all: the atmosphere is great. We've been there several times and have always been satisfied, but after this weekend's experience, we're seriously considering visiting this restaurant again. First, there was a very long wait before our order was taken, and an even longer wait before we got our drinks. OK, it was crowded, but the staff were standing inside chatting. The waitress (Gül) seemed overwhelmed—at least that's how I explain her behavior (rolling her eyes, snarky remarks when I complained, and even more snarky when she didn't offer a tip because of her behavior). Customer-friendly and customer-oriented are two different things.

It was shit, basically. You pay €17 for breakfast and only get a 0.2 liter Granini orange juice. You also have to pay €7.50 for a bottle of water.

Worthless. Ordered 3 soups and 3 beers. Had to wait 45 minutes for our soup, never got our drinks. We paid for the soup and left.

We immediately liked the location very much – modern, stylish, and inviting. Our first meal, pizza rolls, was also delicious and gave us hope for a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, the service deteriorated significantly as the menu progressed. When we later wanted to reorder something, we were alerted by a subtle raised finger – generally okay, but the obvious eye roll from the waitress (Gül) was completely inappropriate and seemed dismissive. We then ordered two milkshakes and an iced chocolate. We were told they were out of chocolate ice cream – vanilla ice cream was fine for me as an alternative. After about 30 minutes, the milkshakes arrived, but only slightly chilled. The iced chocolate was lukewarm and didn't contain any ice cream at all – it was basically just a hot chocolate with whipped cream and a bit of chocolate liqueur. When I politely complained, I was offered a new drink. I explained that it would only be possible if I was quick, as I still had to go to work. The immediate response was: "Well, no, then there's nothing at all." I found this reaction very rude and lacking in service orientation. The statement "That was the kitchen, I didn't do it" was also not a professional way of dealing with criticism. It's a shame – a beautiful place with potential, but the service seriously spoiled our experience. Therefore, we're sticking with one star.

Never again R Café. Two advertising stickers were stuck to my car (rear and hood) 30 minutes apart, with absolutely clean adhesive surfaces. This is illegal. If this was done with the consent of the café operator, it is illegal! Violation of general personal rights – the vehicle is being used for third-party advertising. Violation of Section 903 of the German Civil Code (owner's right of access) – no one may alter another's property without permission.

My mother celebrated her 60th birthday at RCafe. She and all the guests were delighted. Anka was very welcoming and open to her own ideas. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food was plentiful and delicious. Despite a very hot summer day, thanks to the air conditioning, we enjoyed a relaxing brunch there. I highly recommend it!

We celebrated our wedding at R-Café in June 2025, and it was PERFECT! Not only do we have praise for the kitchen and staff, but our guests were also thrilled! The buffet was constantly restocked, and not a single guest didn't praise the food. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We felt very comfortable and were able to enjoy the day with you! Unfortunately, our visit to R Café in Lohne was a huge disappointment. The start was bumpy – we had to wait forever for our drinks and were repeatedly ignored. The service was unfriendly, and we felt like we were more of a nuisance than welcome. Things didn't get any better with the food: After waiting for over an hour, we asked – it was supposedly supposed to arrive in 10 minutes. After another 15 minutes: another "10 more minutes." No apology, no update. When the food finally arrived, one person's entire dish was missing, another had forgotten a part, and another was brought incorrectly. New drinks? No one asked. Our complaints simply referred us to an online complaint – no one on site felt responsible. We were then overcharged for one dish and two drinks – which we never ordered. No apology, no gesture of goodwill. The food itself was disappointing, and the restrooms were in a state that, quite frankly, was unacceptable. It's a real shame—we were looking forward to a relaxing visit, but we were completely disappointed. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

Absolute impudence. Situation: Sunday Brunch Scarce: Drinks First of all, we have to praise the food selection and the taste. Everything was fine on the level. But beyond that, we were unfortunately seriously disappointed on the drinks front. First, we were treated to a bottle of orange juice, and according to the menu, "hot drinks included." The reality, however, is different. A pot of coffee and a standard tea were available, but you have to pay extra for orange juice and water?!?! If you want a different type of tea from the menu, there's also a surcharge. So, if you like good food and coffee, this is the place for you, but if you also enjoy a glass of water or more than 200ml of juice at breakfast, you'll have to dig deeper into your pockets in addition to the €24 buffet price. What a shame.

We had breakfast here today. We wanted to order orange juice as usual, because it says on the menu that orange juice is included. When we tried to order, we were told we could only order one orange juice per person. If you order multiple orange juices, each orange juice is charged in addition to the breakfast price. Since hot drinks aren't included, and orange juice is only available for one per person, we don't like it that the menu says it includes orange juice, but then suddenly only offers one per person.

Simply fantastic! The bartender, Wajih, knows his craft – the drinks were delicious and made with love. You can tell he's passionate about his craft. The waitress, Gül, was incredibly friendly, super attentive, and looked after us perfectly throughout the evening. Totally personable and in a good mood – exactly what you'd want! We felt truly at home and will definitely be back.

The staff was also an absolute plus: super friendly, warm, attentive, and perfectly coordinated. The food was fantastic and offered something for every guest, catering to every taste. Whether it's a wedding, birthday, or another anniversary – I can truly recommend the R-Café to everyone and recommend it 100%. According to my husband (who planned the surprise party), the organization and communication before and after the celebration went completely smoothly and uncomplicated; everything was top-notch! Very good breakfast buffet on the weekends including COFFEE DRINKS

We visited the place in the evening during the week (Tuesday) with a group of 9 people (6 adults and 3 children). It didn't look good from the very beginning. No one was interested in us for a long time, they didn't help us seat the group, there was a problem with setting the tables even though there were few guests, then there was a problem with ordering - so the staff failed miserably. First, we ordered drinks also for children, and then when ordering food, it turned out that the children's dishes already included drinks and they could not cancel the previous order - again, it was a mistake of the staff that they did not inform about it in advance, seeing the small children. A plus for the children's menu - a bull's-eye. The food was tasty, although mine was moderate. However, most of the group was satisfied. We ate - pizza, salads, bowl, pork chop, pasta. Dirty toilets - the beach toilets were cleaner and this is another BIG minus for the restaurant. Nice decor, beautiful place, romantic atmosphere - it's very nice to sit here. It's apparently difficult to find a free table on weekends. I would describe the restaurant as follows: if there is traffic here and a lot of guests come, why bother with anything.

Top location, have been coming there for years

This was our second time here for breakfast - not on the weekend. Price performance is very good. Unfortunately, latte macchiato was not included as it was during the week, but this was pointed out in advance. Service is friendly, selection and freshness of the buffet is also very good. Nice atmosphere in itself. The only downside was that it was very loud despite there being few guests. Room dividers or something similar would be useful here.

We've been there several times. Food and drinks are okay, but not a highlight either. We wanted to have a beer on the terrace at prime time and were turned away because an employee thought it was more important to clean whatever with the leaf blower than to serve guests at that point. Maybe he made a mistake in his job and should be a landscape gardener instead. It wasn't the first time that the service was bad. Otherwise you just had to wait a long time or you were forgotten. Beautiful place with a lake view. Very tasty waffles and good coffee. Today unfortunately very poor service. I saw team was busy but nobody was even taking care to find us a table - comment was to walk around and look for a free table…where multiple tables had reservation. Took a long time for a lady to come to us afterwards. Food was prepared very quickly. Regarding food and drinks a little bit disappointment. Pizza was quite good - but small in this case means rally small. Burger and fries nothing special. We ordered also drinks. My drink was not according to the recipe - missing mint and my wife ordered gin tonic which should come with orange zest but came with slice of orange - it’s a big difference in taste for gin tonic.

Unfortunately, several times poorly served. The gentleman who was there at lunchtime just didn't feel like it. Everyone came to the checkout because otherwise you could have waited at the table for hours. There were several problems while eating and the gentleman preferred to discuss things rather than try to make it again. Not recommended. Then go to the Deichkrone, where you will be well served and get decent food

There were three of us and we had to wait 15 minutes at the checkout to see if the store was empty. We then sat for 25 minutes until we were served. Somehow it was more important to count the tables. When we had finished the drinks and wanted to pay (reported to the waiter), only one table was entertained and looked after. Somehow I felt unwanted. I won't be coming back in the future either.

We were there for Valentine's Day and had reserved a table. After 20 minutes, we still didn't have our coffee. We left without eating. The line at the buffet was miles long. The staff were annoyed, stressed, and unmotivated. Even a lady from the kitchen was in a bad mood and was bringing out fresh plates. So, work on your staff. The Seecafé in Sch... is much better.

Yesterday we had breakfast there for the first time (my husband and I), when I wanted to get something from the buffet a second time, I unfortunately slipped on a piece of fruit that a customer in front of me had probably dropped and the full jug fell on my elbow and shoulder. The guests were immediately helpful and helped me up, none of the staff asked if they could help, since the incredible pain was causing my circulation to go crazy, my husband ordered a coke, which he then fetched himself because the service staff didn't think it was urgent to bring it quickly. We then left the café after almost 40 minutes because we went to the emergency room in the hospital. We were charged in full for breakfast and we even paid for the coke. Thank God nothing was broken, but the service staff didn't ask if they could do anything for us, which is a shame

Go for a walk by the lake, then lunch is sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Side dishes on pasta, so the lettuce leaves always look dried out, you could use fresh ones.

The "kids' corner" is a definite plus for us, so we love coming back here again and again! The breakfast buffet is fantastic. There's a large selection and it's well-stocked.

Went there for breakfast today for the first time. Two people were seated in the dining room and told it would be very busy, even though we had made a reservation. We were seated at a half-decorated table with no decorations, nothing on the table like the others. It was cold and very drafty. It felt like you were just sitting in the way. We felt very uncomfortable. Once and never again. It's difficult or even laborious to refill the juices, and you have to wait forever for them to be refilled. Clearing the table? - Nothing done.

Today, I absolutely had to get a person who was here for breakfast on the phone for an important matter. So I called the R Café and asked if they could help me. There were three or four elderly ladies at one table, and they asked if they could please look after them. The only response I got was "No," that couldn't be done. After this response, all I can say is that I will never set foot in this R Café again due to the poor service.

Our wedding in June 2024 at this venue was simply unforgettable! The atmosphere, service, and organization were first-class, and communication was always uncomplicated and seamless. Our guests and we were thrilled – we couldn't have imagined a better special day!

The brunch is delicious, with a wide selection and a very cozy atmosphere. I'd go back anytime.

I always enjoy coming here to eat or drink. The location is simply beautiful. The food is very good and the staff is nice. It is clean and tidy and invites you to linger. Both cozy inside in winter and on the terrace in summer, although it is already full because it is directly adjacent to the beach. Definitely recommended!!!

We were at R Cafe Essen in the evening with a larger group in the run-up to Christmas. The cafe was decorated for Christmas, so it looked really cozy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Special requests are implemented by the kitchen without any problems. The food was delicious and the price-performance ratio was right. Unfortunately the parking situation is catastrophic. If the front paved parking spaces are occupied, you must park on the grass, which is impassable during long periods of rain. It's a shame, the parking lot is unlit. It wasn't a pleasant situation for me.

Everything is super tasty, but it's not possible that you have to queue for 25 minutes to get a roll. The queue at the buffet was endless and it always took more than 20 minutes to get your turn. I can't recommend this as long as it isn't changed, it's a real shame it would be so easy to stop it.

I am extremely disappointed... Last year I was here for brunch with my large family and based on the good experience I booked again this year. But unfortunately the food and the service didn't hold up. Easily half of the space has been lost. This means there are long waiting times before you can even get something to eat. The selection is a lot less and unfortunately nothing special anymore. Warm dishes (egg, bacon, sausage) were consistently cold... And really cold. Even when asked, there was no hot food. The staff is haphazard and leaves the tables untidy. Since I invited the family to this brunch this year with high expectations, I am not only disappointed but also frustrated that it wasn't a pleasant experience for everyone. Unfortunately, that was our last visit here. It's a shame because the cafe can do more... And because of the location alone, it has a bonus.

The restaurant has a great location with a nice playground and the beautiful lake. We were there for the breakfast buffet and it was very tasty. Because it has such a good reputation, there were a lot of people there and the buffet was in a small space. You had to wait in line first and it wasn't so easy to serve yourself with a child in your hand. Buffet very tasty, everything clean and well maintained in the restaurant. There was also delicious dessert and honeycomb honey. If you want to chat in a quiet atmosphere, you should choose off-peak times or a quieter corner. Otherwise it is very loud and echoes. Children's play area also available inside. Parking situation is great.
