R-Cafe Hamm in Hamm

We tried the breakfast buffet during the week. The selection was very good for the price. The first hot drink cost €1.95...afterwards, it was the regular price. It gets expensive if you like coffee. You can order something else instead. The service was very friendly and attentive. I deducted one star overall because they charge extra for hot drinks, and the scrambled eggs and sausages were cold, even though we booked early.

Since I often go to the R Cafe in Neheim, I wanted to try the R Cafe in Hamm as well. I was there around 11 a.m....it wasn't particularly busy, so I sat down at a table inside. The waitresses walked past me at least 20 times without saying hello or even asking if I'd ordered....After 30 minutes, I asked if I had to register for a coffee or get it myself from a machine...absolute disaster! And to top it all off, the coffee wasn't that great either.

Recommended. There's an indoor and outdoor area with patio heaters and sliding glass doors. The food is tasty and beautifully presented. Prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly. All in all, a restaurant worth a visit.

A nice café/restaurant right on the waterfront and centrally located in Hamm's city center. You can enjoy a great breakfast here, both on weekdays and weekends. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu is extensive. There are light bites, snacks, pizzas, lunches, punch, and sweet dishes. There's a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. You can sit under umbrellas on the terrace. A winter garden offers plenty of space for groups. Since meetings are held, tables can be moved quickly.

Tree times in a row, totally unpleasant service: 1. We seat we wait 15/20 min nobody come to say sorry we don’t serve outside. 2. We seat and they say we don’t serve those table . 3. Today again we don’t serve there only in the middle , ok than we want to connect two tables together, again no its not possible!!! I work 20 years on the cruise ships Celebrity & Royal Caribbean Cruises and this is totally disgrace for the Hospitality industry!!! Never again try to come here !!!

BUT the service is simply awful... no one smiles at us... we waited for 20 minutes... until they came out onto the street to meet us, they didn't wait... we went into the cafe, they didn't greet us... it was very unpleasant... we just left and now have no desire to visit this cafe anymore 😮‍💨😤 I hope whoever started this business takes pity on this wonderful place and simply replaces its staff with more pleasant people who appreciate their work... all the best to everyone...

It was really nice there – everything looked great and the atmosphere was totally calm and relaxed. The drinks were also really good, perfect for chilling out and enjoying the evening.

At R Café, you experience everything but enjoyment. I had to wait over 15 minutes for my order – and that was for a simple coffee. When it finally arrived, I was shocked again: there was a hair on the saucer, and the creamer was already open and broken. This is simply disgusting and has nothing to do with gastronomy. Hygiene = 0, service = 0, quality = 0. As a guest, you are neither valued nor served properly here. The only thing "good" about this café is the location – but it's definitely not worth it. Anyone who spends money here is making a mistake. Never again – a complete disappointment!!!!

We had lunch here yesterday. It was quite busy, and we wanted to sit outside, which wasn't a problem. After our cappuccino, the wasps became annoying, so we went inside and told the waitress. Then we moved to another seat. It was no problem at all. The staff was and remained polite and friendly. ... We enjoyed the food, and the location is great, with plenty of places to securely lock our e-bikes. We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, we've had three bad experiences there now. The first time, we sat with six people right in front of the counter and didn't get our breakfast coffee until we were almost finished. On the second visit, my husband and I were able to place our first order after about twenty minutes. We wanted to order something later, so we called for our attention, but were always told to come back later. Then we eventually went inside to the cashier and just paid. And then, last Sunday, we sat outside on the terrace in the R-Cafe for 40 minutes, waiting for our order to be taken. The waiters walked past us countless times, and at least twice we called them back to say we wanted to order. Again, they said someone would be right there. After 45 minutes, we got up and left. The table service there is simply catastrophic! The location is great, but this was our last time there for a while. When you talk about it with friends, several have had similar experiences. At least it seems pretty "normal" there to wait a very long time to place your order. When you got something, it looked and tasted good. It's also important that it wasn't particularly busy each time. Then I would certainly have been understanding.

The atmosphere and service are nice

Our bike ride took us past this R-Cafe. It was a great location; everything looked very nice and clean. We ordered two coffees and cakes (apple cake and cherry marzipan cake). The coffee came immediately, but the cake took a while to arrive. I flagged down the waitress—we'd already finished the coffee—and asked if we'd ordered cake as well. Oh, I have to ask what's wrong with that. After about five minutes, the cake arrived. The apple cake was okay. The cherry marzipan cake was from the day before yesterday, and I had to look twice to find it on the plate. €17.30. Never again.

There's hardly a place in Hamm where customers are ignored as successfully as at R Café. The staff is completely unmotivated to take orders. We left the beer garden after quite some time without being served and won't be returning anytime soon.

This place is wonderful during the week. The food is excellent and the service is really friendly. Older children can play by the canal (there are play equipment). On weekends, it gets very crowded very quickly and becomes very confusing. Unfortunately, the breakfast line at the buffet can't sell out on the route, so you'll need to plan for some time.

The cocktails aren't anything special. The Long Island was a Coke... The food was great! Service was OK, but nothing special. Prices were unfortunately very inflated. You can do that sometimes.

After a bike ride, 13 of us wanted to eat and drink outside at R-Cafe Hamm on Friday, July 11, 2025, in the afternoon. Four tables on the outer edge (the side facing Adenauerallee) were unoccupied, so we wanted to push them together so we could all sit together. Even before we could do so, the outside staff rudely stopped us (loudly shouting, "No, no, no, nothing will be pushed together here"). A few seconds later: "Not permitted due to fire safety regulations," and we should sit inside. It may be that fire safety regulations apply here (incomprehensible to normal people), but the unfriendly tone led to the immediate departure of 13 guests. A potential loss of revenue of approximately €400 was accepted, and guests were driven away.

⭐ 1 Star – Unfortunately Disappointing I visited R Café and was very disappointed. The waitress accidentally spilled my food and sauce all over me, completely soiling my clothes. Accidents can happen, but the way they handled it was unfortunately inappropriate. At first, I was expected to pay for my meal and drink in full, despite the incident. Only after I actively asked if they were serious about it did they speak to the manager. Result: I was given a full meal, but I still had to pay for the drink – even though I was soaking wet and covered in stains the entire time. I really would have appreciated a bit more consideration and understanding in a situation like this. Unfortunately, I won't be having this again.

I can't comment on the food. We were a bit more people, so we moved to a free table (which was 1 meter away) closer to us. (And by the way, the café wasn't full) so that we could all find a seat. We had empty drinks from the previous person at our table for at least 30 minutes, and only then did a waiter come, but not to ask what we wanted or to clear the table, but to point out that the table wasn't suitable. So we decided not to leave any money there and left. On the positive side, the location is very nice, but there was no service, nothing!

The employee seemed unmotivated overall, and it wasn't possible to order food or drinks at that time. I was here once before, five months ago – back then with friends who had traveled from all over Germany. We know the R Café from other cities and had deliberately chosen this meeting place. But even then, there were no orders available, the cake seemed stale, and none of us were satisfied. We were disappointed then too – and unfortunately, this impression was confirmed today. It's a shame, because the ambiance would actually be perfect. But without friendly service and a reliable menu, I won't be visiting the café again for the time being.

Great bistro! We spontaneously stopped by on a Friday evening with two small children and were absolutely thrilled! Very fast and friendly service! Very prompt food delivery and delicious food. We were especially impressed with the way our two kids were treated! We'd love to come back.

Dabei ist uns leider einiges negativ aufgefallen, was wir gerne offen ansprechen möchten. Obwohl wir zusammen bestellt hatten, mussten wir rund 45 Minuten auf unsere Getränke warten, bis schließlich alle etwas hatten. Das ist leider zu lang – besonders, wenn man einfach nur entspannt zusammensitzen möchte. Früher hatten wir den Eindruck, dass das Personal den Laden sehr gut im Griff hatte. Dieses Mal mussten wir feststellen, dass einige erfahrene Mitarbeiter scheinbar nicht mehr da sind. Stattdessen war das aktuell eingesetzte Personal offenbar nicht ausreichend geschult und zeigte wenig Überblick. Wir beobachteten, dass sich einige Bedienungen lange mit einzelnen Gästen unterhielten, während andere Gäste – wie wir – lange warten mussten. Wir sagen das nicht, um zu meckern, sondern weil wir das R-Café bisher sehr geschätzt haben. Wenn sich die Situation aber nicht bessert, sehen wir uns leider gezwungen, künftig andere Cafés aufzusuchen.

Very Bad Experience – Warning of Lack of Professionalism I had a very bad experience here. I ordered soup and a salad. The salad tasted strongly of fish, even though there was no fish in it at all. I pointed this out to the waiter and asked him to inform the chef. I'm sure this didn't happen, as any professional chef would know how bad and dangerous this is. My stomach reacted very quickly and in an extremely unpleasant way. I also pointed this out to the waiter, and he offered me a free drink. I paid my bill in full and left (I even left a tip, even though it was far from deserved). I'm writing this review because I emailed the establishment directly to inform them, but haven't received any response. The only thing left for me to do is warn others about what I hope is an isolated incident and the obvious lack of training of the staff. I will definitely never come here again.

The location was prime, and the reservation management was completely flawed. Since our reserved table for 8 people was booked twice (and the entire winter garden had to be completely cleared due to a "private party"), we left after 15 minutes (we were just about to place our order, but the waiter only came to clear our table) and decided to celebrate my wife's birthday somewhere else. This was our first time here. We had reserved a table for the breakfast buffet via email. The staff was friendly. However, I thought our table was a bit of a disgrace. At first, I thought it was a children's table. It was the smallest table in the entire restaurant, covered in menus and various drink lists. On top of that, it hadn't been cleaned properly beforehand. It was impossible to have a relaxed breakfast here, as you constantly had to be careful not to drop anything or tip anything over. For €40, I imagine it would be cozy.

Great place! We were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it turned out.👍🏻 The outdoor area is really large with a view of the canal. It's always very busy, but not too loud. The staff is really prompt and always very friendly. The drinks arrive at the table really quickly👍🏻 The menu, like the local R-Café in Arnsberg, is very clear and not too packed, which we really like. The food was delicious, and it was even just the right size for a snack😎 My wife had an ice cream sorbet, and I ordered the chili cheese fries with jalapeno topping, simply delicious 🤤 👌🏻. The prices were reasonable for the portions. We stopped by again a weekend later, this time trying the "house bread" with two dips and olives. Also a delicious snack that's great to share.👍🏻 We'd love to come back!

Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience with my 9-year-old daughter. One employee with pink hair (Sarah), who has apparently attracted negative attention here several times, particularly stood out for her rude and aggressive behavior. Due to technical problems, the debit machine had to be restarted several times. On the second attempt, the amount was debited from my account but not registered in the café. Even though I showed the receipt, I was pressured to pay again. I was promised a refund within 24-48 hours – with no guarantee. When I refused to pay twice, the waitress loudly accused me in front of my daughter, who cried. Eventually, she even called the police. Right from the start, she greeted us with a sharp tone and without a greeting. After this experience, we will definitely avoid this café.

We made a quick phone call yesterday and were able to celebrate our birthday very well (I like to say: much better with much better service and a much larger selection) at Café del Sol. Even though it was very short notice, the staff was so quick that everything was already changed and prepared while we were moving. Dear R-Café team: This is how service works. The highlight came later via email from the operations manager of the R-Café: an apology for making a mistake with the reservation. We would get our first drink order free on our next visit. When would we like to come back? Dear Mr. Operations Manager: Unfortunately, the 10 of us and our friends and acquaintances will certainly not be visiting the R-Café any time soon.

My only complaint is the service. Been there 2 days in a row because I wanted to give the cellar(s) another chance on the 2nd day. Food always came after 45/50 minutes, regardless of whether it was salad or just chicken breast strips. It wasn't cleared away and the reorder of our drinks only came after 25/30 minutes. Despite this, the waiter made an effort and was friendly, but I think that more staff outside or better training would be necessary. The negative service is unfortunately very inappropriate as it is really very cozy there and the view is beautiful, especially in summer…
