Always awesome, just expensive but not a big deal.

I've been to R-Café many times, and I've always really enjoyed it. But the last few times, and this time, the service has deteriorated considerably. The waiter who started out came straight to the table and took our order. Everything went very quickly, but once the food arrived, they stopped paying attention to us. At some point, a waitress came to clear something from the table. I told her I'd like another drink. She said she'd pass it on. But after a long time, no drink arrived. I thought, that's what can happen if you forget. At some point, another waiter came to clear the remaining items from the table. I then tried to order a drink from him again. He also told me he'd pass it on. After a long time, no drink arrived again. At some point, another waitress came over and I asked if one of the drinks I'd ordered was on her list. She said no, and thankfully, she brought the drink. After a while, we wanted another drink and were fortunately able to order one. However, when the drinks arrived, some of them were the wrong size and the wrong drinks. On top of that, the place wasn't really busy, which could explain the apparent overflow.

The ambiance, service, food, and drinks were all perfect! We felt very comfortable and quickly returned for a second time.

Hello So we were there for breakfast and won't be doing that again. You have to queue to get your breakfast, of course. But that could really be split up better. Maybe they should use both sides of the aisle, then the line wouldn't be so long. And the staff can't keep up, but they're trying hard. Boss...do something It's a shame

We were there for the breakfast buffet. For the 2nd and last time. The first time we thought, it could happen that you have to queue. This time: disaster! The queue to queue stretched through the entire winter garden to a few meters outside. By the time it was finally your turn after waiting in line for half an hour, the hot drinks you ordered were still lukewarm. I really felt sorry for the families with small children because they also had to wait in line for so long with their children. The chair was constantly jostled because the waitress had to get through with the drinks and the queue took up a lot of space. With so many guests, why not open several buffets. One or two in the winter garden and one for guests inside. Works in other similar establishments, e.g. B. H1 Meschede, yes too. Kudos to the waitresses, they remained pleasantly friendly despite this mess.

We usually enjoy being guests at the R Cafe, but never again on Mother's Day. I don't understand why you accept so many reservations if you can't handle them.

So far everything has actually been ok, but only so far. If you find moldy raspberries in Lillet and the waitress insists that it can't be right, even though she sees it with her own eyes... that's not possible. Only after repeated requests was a replacement reluctantly brought. That's not good service. One less customer.

Mega ambience. Good food. Lavish breakfast buffet. I can only recommend it I would recommend reservations.

We were there for breakfast and had rolls with mold on top and when we brought it to the attention of the staff, they just dismissed it. After all, it would only be on top of the bun and they would now pay more attention to it. We got the impression that she wasn't shocked, as if this were a common occurrence.

The food and ambience were great, but there was a colleague there who kept shouting something to the other colleagues over the heads of the guests. This lady also came across as very arrogant and cheeky to me at the table. Unfortunately, staff rarely came to the table to take drink orders. 2x in 3 hours is a bit short.

Good food, but unfortunately very rude service The food in the R Café tasted really good, there’s nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the positive impression was completely destroyed by the service! I was simply charged a tip without asking, without me agreeing to it. The amount was basically “swapped” with the price. That can happen, but the way it was handled was simply cheeky. A relatively young employee (black-haired) was extremely rude and didn't offer any solution when I pointed it out to her. Instead of admitting the mistake or at least giving me back the money I overpaid in cash, it was simply brushed off. That's not how you treat guests. It's a shame, because with good service the R Café would really be recommended. But unfortunately not like that.

Unfortunately the service is not good! We had to wait 30 minutes before we were served for the first time. The food itself was delicious, but unfortunately it was cold (Mexican burger with fries and spaghetti). When I mentioned it when paying, I was just looked at stupidly and the receipt was simply slammed on the table!

Service was off. We were seated at a table in the corner. After no waiter came for 30 minutes, we were told to sit somewhere else. That doesn't work at all. The baked potato was rotten and you could have seen it in the kitchen when it was opened. Disgusting. As always, the music was too loud.

We would be at the R Café for the Sunday breakfast buffet. The rating therefore only applies to breakfast; other dishes cannot be rated. The buffet is extensive and there is something for everyone. Bread, toast, rolls, croissants, various toppings (sausage, cheese), egg variations, fruit, (fried) vegetables, spreads, bacon, sausages, meatballs, sweets, pancakes, yoghurt, quark, muesli and and and. The quality is consistently good and everything is fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, with the house not even full (well attended, but not every table was occupied), the whole thing resembles a canteen. You arrive and order breakfast at the table, along with a hot drink. If you line up at peak time (we were there from around 9:30 a.m.), unfortunately the coffee is cold when you come back because you're standing in a long line for a good 15 minutes. The problem is the very small plates (unfortunately common in buffets), of which everyone has to start with two. We first took care of our children, then started them again and after about three quarters of an hour we were all sitting together at the table (without being able to leave the kids alone). Large plates would possibly ensure that everyone doesn't have to rush off and get in line again. From around 11 a.m. (buffet until 1 p.m.) it would be noticeably quieter and the line would be shorter and you could also grab something quickly without looking at it for minutes. However, it has to be said that everything was available at the buffet at all times and it was always refilled in a timely manner. It was the exception that something was missing (once Nutella was empty). The waitresses are friendly and helpful, and the prices are absolutely ok for what is on offer. The buffet is free, especially for children up to and including four. But unfortunately one star deducted for the snake-canteen atmosphere. Depending on where you sit, this can spoil the impression and it is very busy. Also worth mentioning is a game for children and a small (fenced) playground outside.

Very nice after a walk along the Ruhr

Been there twice, sat very nicely with a view of the Ruhr. There were scrambled eggs with rolls, but we were always too late for the buffet. Service was top every time. Maybe we can make it to the buffet sometime, it always looks great.

On March 29, I was there with my companion around 9 p.m. It was full, but not all tables were occupied. Despite repeatedly asking for help, we weren't served. The wait staff, obviously responsible for our area, were chatting at another table while sitting at a nearby table. After waiting for half an hour, we left without having had a chance to eat.

But of course, always at any time🩷🩷🩷

Were insulted by the chef and thrown out. However, you were still allowed to take the Long Island iced tea to-go, hence 2 stars.

We went to R Café on a Sunday. It was very busy and yet the staff was friendly. It all took a while, but we had time and people can't work like that.

We have been here many times, not for a while and very disappointed yesterday. The service was totally unfriendly, the table was totally dirty and wasn't cleaned. We waited 35 minutes for the food and then a bowl arrived with half of the ingredients missing. After another 7 minutes, the missing things were packed on top, the prawns were ice cold and there were tons of sour cream. It tasted totally bland, there was nothing tasty but tons of tomatoes and cucumbers. We are quite satisfied and have also heard from many other guests that the quality and service have completely deteriorated. It's a real shame, we'll avoid the place for now.

We were there on Wednesday evening. We ordered pumpkin soup as a starter and then a burger, everything was delivered together. I could have puked.... The waitress just said that you had to say in advance that the soup would be brought first. Don't they have any sense to see it for themselves? Without words

Went there for breakfast today. It was very cold inside. Guests sat there at breakfast wearing jackets. Even the waitress had a sweatshirt jacket on. Thanks, I came home cold.

Very cozy bistro right on the water. There's brunch on the weekend. There are a lot of service staff, but they are all temporary workers with no motivation and apparently not involved in sales. There could be more.

Food was very tasty but ALL employees are DISASTER and don't take their work seriously... Boss, do something. 5€ tip and not even a thank you. The receipt was thrown on the table and we were shown the back.

It used to be great here, but unfortunately it's no longer worth a visit. The manager walks through the store in his stained sweatpants and I don't know anyone who has ever had a nice conversation with him. Always cheeky, know-it-all, almost insulting. Once I went there and when he came towards me I said "Hello, we have reservations" - a standard sentence that I always say, to which the waiter always says in a friendly manner "Yes, the name please" With the managing director the whole thing looks like this: he furrows his eyebrows, you shrug your shoulders and say “Yes, should I ask you about the names now?” Am I a psychic or what?” I have many more examples of this happening with other people - the guy is really obnoxious

Disappointing experience Service and food underground We had a reservation for 7 p.m., but still had to wait 20 minutes before anyone even looked after us. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed by the rush, although the full store was certainly no surprise. Our spot at the bar wasn't a problem at first, but the bar staff behaved more like they were in a schoolyard than a professional restaurant. Orders were forgotten or only asked after 30 minutes. The drinks came quickly, but that was the only positive thing about the evening. We only ordered a burger and fries and had to wait over an hour for it. In the meantime, our waitress came by and asked if we had our food yet. When we said no, we only received a confused look but no explanation, no apology, nothing. Instead of taking care of the guests, many waiters were more busy chatting with well-known guests and exchanging ideas about trivial topics. The only person who seemed remotely competent was the presumed waiter management; the rest seemed more interested in adolescent jokes than good service. Usually the food here can make up for a lot, but not this time. The burger was cold and it seemed like our food had been sitting in the kitchen for ages. Not a word of apology, no insight, nothing. We actually planned to order dessert, but after the endless waiting times we decided not to. In addition, the music was absolutely unreasonable, way too loud and constantly turned up or down at random, apparently because the bar staff thought it was funny. This not only disrupted the ambience, but was just plain annoying. I don't understand why this place gets so much praise probably because it's the only one in the area with this kind of atmosphere late at night. But a good ambience alone is not enough if the service is catastrophic and the food is unreasonable. We have given the restaurant many chances, but if nothing changes here, this will definitely be our last visit.

Horrible! Absolutely unsuitable for breakfast. You simply let so many people in that, due to the queue at the buffet, you only make it to the buffet MAXIMUM twice and are more full than want to queue again. The cocoa like water. When asked about the improvement, the same one came again with even more water in the taste than the first. When we were paying, we asked kindly to please cancel the cocoa, and we were told that wasn't possible - we had drunk both of them... absolutely subterranean. Every café would have done that or at least made sure that the second one was good if the first one was criticized! When paying then asked for the receipt. Well, what did you get, the daily turnover of the café on a Saturday, nice to know the numbers... that's what tops it all off! Service absolutely inattentive. When you were at the buffet, half of it was missing. Or you waited forever to ask for drinks etc. You had to go up to the waitresses to pay. 1 star is still too much! The object is quite nice, but unfortunately with incorrect content. The R Café was different

Unfortunately, I was dissatisfied with the orders in the R-Café several times. Telephone orders are often incomplete and cause problems. Once there was a piece of turkey breast on my vegan bowl, which was cheekily charged for - that's simply not acceptable. Last year I ordered vegan schnitzel locally, but was given meat schnitzel. Two weeks ago I wanted to try it again, but instead of the vegan burger I received the vegetarian burger, even though I had specifically ordered it vegan. My friend had the vegan schnitzels, but they weren't convincing because they were convenience products (from Rügenwalder Mühle?), which is not okay for the price. Really, you could easily do this yourself in countless ways! Even though the staff is mostly friendly, you often don't feel like you're being taken seriously when ordering vegan options. I would also like to see more vegan dishes on the menu. The ordering service could definitely be improved.

In the past this place was very attractive and had a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the situation has now deteriorated significantly. The prices charged for the dishes on offer are outrageous compared to the quality. All of the dishes seem to consist of pre-cooked frozen products that are hardly convincing in terms of taste. In addition, the sanitary facilities are in a questionable condition; the smell is unpleasant and reminds of poor hygiene. The entire store appears dirty and the staff seems unmotivated and rude, which further mars the entire experience. A particularly critical point is hygiene when handling food. The employee at the counter touches the ice cream with her bare hands, which is extremely unhygienic. In addition, many glasses are dirty and sometimes there are even remains of sugar packaging stuck in the cups. These conditions are unacceptable and require urgent improvements. Conclusion: I will no longer set foot in this store in the future.

We were there for the breakfast buffet. Even without reserving in advance, we spontaneously got a place (on Sunday morning). We were served very quickly. I stopped there today on my tour along the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path to replenish my energy reserves and find a place to spend the night in peace. The staff was very friendly even if you came in wearing sports clothes. The food was also delicious 😋. Found it very comfortable there.

First time visiting the restaurant and definitely the last time. Tables dirty, leftover food on the floor, the food ordered underground. Frozen schnitzel from the deep fryer, hard and dry. French fries soft and unappetizing 🤢 Unfortunately the waiter, who tried to be friendly, could no longer save the overall desolate impression. Conclusion: At best the level of a below-average rest stop.

It's been a long time since I've been there since the change in tenants took place and the shop has declined dramatically. There's always something wrong with the orders, it doesn't come, it's wrong, it's old salad or there are things in it that have no business being there. Some of the drinks taste stale and have become far too expensive. I can understand everyone who likes being there, maybe these mistakes only happen to me. I don't know it! The ambience is really great, just way too loud. The waitresses are either friendly or really unfriendly/cheeky. If you want to order, pay or comment on something. It takes forever because the ladies are so stressed. In short, the store won't see me anymore. It's really a shame what happened to the store.

Facilities and ambience good, service weaknesses, no orders at all or twice, waiting time perhaps a bit too long. Went there again today. “Very dry air” in the store. Service is friendly but slow, there is still room for improvement I was there again yesterday with colleagues. Unfortunately I can't change my mind, I would have to deduct a star, non-carbonated drink, unfortunately dirty cutlery (well, that can happen). The waitress was at the table a total of four times during the two-hour stay. To take the order, when she brought the drinks, when she cleared the dishes from the food and then to collect the cash. Not even the beginning of a question as to whether we would like anything else, not even when she cleared the dishes. Attentive service is different.

In the beginning, I enjoyed coming to the R-Cafe relatively often. Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated significantly in the past and is no longer commensurate with the prices quoted. Sometimes you wait a long time for the waiter to order a new drink. In addition, on some days or at peak times the noise level is unbearably high, so a cozy atmosphere is out of the question. It's a shame, things used to be better somehow...

Food is okay, but after I forgot my bag under the table and we called, they just said that the bag hadn't been handed in without even checking to see if it was still there. When we called the second time to say we were coming back, you could only hear them saying "Digga, this is the second time they've called about the stupid bag" and they just hung up without speaking to us. Conclusion: we looked under the table and the bag was still there. I have never seen a store with such unfriendly staff.

We were there for breakfast. Everyone had their own tongs for the buffet, which I thought was great. Unfortunately it was very tight at the buffet as the entrance was on the side. The buffet was plentiful.

Whether breakfast or lunch, everything is possible here. Very large location with a special area for smokers, which I and many of my fellow visitors don't like and would get rid of. Otherwise it's a good place to go, even if it's just for a coffee and cake.

Used to be a great cafe - used to go there regularly! But things haven't been so nice lately. During my last visit I noticed that some waiters preferred other guests who came later than us to order food and drinks and the preferred guests who already had food on the table and we didn't even order a drink after waiting for almost an hour could! If you overlook a table with guests, yes, it can happen, but apparently overlooking several tables on purpose? Strange... Oh well, some of the staff are extremely unfriendly (but there are also very friendly staff there 🙏)

We recently visited the restaurant “R” in Neheim for brunch and had mixed experiences, which I would like to share here. First of all, the positive: The staff and service were consistently friendly and attentive. The staff always looked after our well-being and were quick to help when we had questions or needed something. The selection at the buffet was also impressive. From fresh rolls to various types of cheese and a variety of spreads, there was something for every taste. Unfortunately, there were also some negative aspects that marred our visit. The first thing we noticed was that the lamp at eye level was full of dust and was annoying every time we looked up. In addition, the table we were sitting at wasn't really clean and we found some crumbs that had obviously been there for a long time. The most important drawback, however, was the arrangement at the buffet: the jam was placed awkwardly under the Nutella jar, which meant that the jam overflowed when refilling and caused an unpleasant mess in the jam jar. Overall, brunch at “R” was a mixed experience. While the service and selection were convincing, the cleanliness and arrangement at the buffet urgently needed to be improved. I hope that these points will be taken into account in the future, because with a few adjustments the restaurant could become a real insider tip.

Nice café or restaurant located directly on the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path. In summer and winter you can sit comfortably in the outside, covered area. You should reserve a table, especially if you want to eat there with several people. In the morning you can have breakfast, at lunch and in the evening there are heartier dishes such as burgers and fries etc. It's worth a visit..

Dear R Café. You guys are great when it comes to food. In terms of personnel, you are mediocre to well positioned. Some good permanent staff but also a lot of uncertain new faces. Unfortunately, your play area is very poor 🥺 you don't like letting your children play there alone. Toys greasy and dirty, leftover food from other children lying on toys or floor. You really have to work on it...check several times a day and wash things off and keep the floors clean. If this is fixed, as a mother of three, I would be really grateful.

Nice and inviting atmosphere for young and old. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for weekends. That actually says it all....👍👍👍

So we like to eat here as such. It tastes quite good. It feels a bit more expensive, but the quality is consistent. The waitresses often seem to be overwhelmed and therefore get annoyed from time to time. Nevertheless, we like to go there and yes, it's complaining on a high level.

Very nice, cozy atmosphere. Really makes you feel good. The service took quite a long time, even though there wasn't that much going on. Unfortunately, the empty glasses all remained there until the end and we had to get a waitress to pay because there was no response to hand signals. The drinks were very tasty, the soup I had was unfortunately only lukewarm and very little for 7€.. still beautifully prepared and it tasted very good. All in all I would go again.

Went there for brunch on Sunday. But allowing so many people into such a small brunch buffet is simply not possible! Sometimes you had to wait 15 minutes to get rolls and cold cuts and I don't see that if you want to have a relaxed breakfast! Then I did NOT eat breakfast. So extremely overcrowded! The service was friendly and the coffee with milk was tasty, that was the only highlight.

The food was partly very tasty (burgers, fries, bowls) and partly "just OK" (crumble didn't taste good and Kaiserschmarrn wasn't as fluffy as homemade). So nothing outstanding but not a catastrophe. I've been there several times and have to say that the service really depends on who you get there. On the last visit it was very good, a nice young waiter who took the order in a friendly and quick manner. Even though it was busy, the orders were processed correctly and quite quickly. And that even though we were sitting in the farthest corner and the waiters kept getting stopped on their way to us. However, we have had other days where someone came to take the order after almost an hour and then seemed annoyed. The order then took ages and we weren't allowed to eat outside at the play ship (despite the good weather). Yes, it can happen that you are understaffed and that you are annoyed by it. And it is understandable that one or two areas are therefore closed. But overall I thought the service was bad that day. Therefore, I cannot give 5 stars, which the service on October 19, 2024 would have definitely deserved. The ambience varies from corner to corner, with comfortable armchairs and a large television in the front. Then the counter with bar stools, further in the middle the tables which are more functional. Then the family area with larger tables and a children's play area (where it often gets loud). And then outside/semi-outside with a view of the water, cozy benches with furs on them and heaters and fire bowls (in glass so there is no danger). There is also a great play area at the back with a climbing ship and swings.

I've been trying to give the R-Café a chance for years. After my last visit yesterday I will definitely not be coming back. We wanted to go to the R-Café for a cold drink and some chips and were once again disappointed. We waited 45 minutes for the drinks and an hour for the fries. It doesn't work at all. The fries were only kept warm by the bowl in which they were served. The café wasn't full/crowded for a Friday lunchtime and there seemed to be enough staff there, because we always saw changing faces whenever a service person was on the move. Nobody knows why it still doesn't work. Our neighboring tables also complained about long waiting times and that they were not served/were turned away by the service staff. It's a shame, because the ambience is actually great and the food and drinks are great too.
