Too expensive, simply too expensive. I've been going there for over 25 years. But €10 for the salad? No, the bread slice is half the size it used to be. That's completely unreasonable. €107 for two meals with a beer and an apple spritzer. And no, no filet mignon.

I had a ribeye with American fries and bearnaise. The steak was tender and tasty. The bearnaise tasted a little strangely of curry. The fries were good. It was very dark down there and the atmosphere was a bit sad and cave-like. It would have been a bit cozier with some quiet music. The waiter was really sweet and friendly. Expensive aperol spritz at 9.50 euros, especially since it was only 0.2 l.

Incredibly cool place to eat in Flensburg, especially the original paintings on the walls, you also get far underground, the place to eat is simply something, and there is a short menu in Danish before you go down to the restaurant.

We spontaneously stopped by the Porterhaus for dinner today on a rainy Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Every table was taken, so we asked if there was a table for two. The very nice staff member confirmed that there was and only asked for a moment's patience. In short: The entire staff was extremely stressed at the time, but they still welcomed us with a smile! And the food (one sirloin steak with fried potatoes and one pasta dish) was truly delicious. The ambiance with the vaulted ceilings and the paintings was extraordinary. Thank you for the pleasant, delicious, and cozy evening with you. You saved the evening for us in the "shitty weather"! Well done!!

Porterhouse im Gnomenkeller is a nice restaurant with a vaulted ceiling painted to give the impression that it is made of bricks. The walls and ceilings feature paintings and attractive designs. There's a date, 1586, painted on the wall. According to the waiter, the building dates back to that year. The quality of the food is good, and the service is quite satisfactory. I had Scholle, a type of flatfish, for 27.50 EUR, and a small beer (0.31 L) for 5.00 EUR, bringing the total to 32.50 EUR. At the bottom of the receipt, it states, “Tip is not included.” I paid with a card, and the waiter brought to my attention four large squares on the screen of the card reader where I could choose a tip in addition to 32.50 EUR. If I chose the first square, a 5% tip would be included. If I chose the subsequent squares, the tip would increase by 10%, 15%, etc. At the bottom, in small text, was “No tip.” When I chose “no tip,” the waiter continued to be kind, friendly, and professional. However, I’m quite sure many people would find being asked to consider giving a tip to be highly intimidating. It is not my responsibility to subsidize the restaurant employees' salaries. People working in restaurants in Germany are generally well-paid.

The atmosphere is okay, and the service was friendly (we were there in April 2025). The food was generally very tasty, but unfortunately, the meat my wife and I had was quite tough (we had different dishes). I usually eat up all the food or take it with us, but I left the meat. Considering the restaurant's excellent reputation for meat, I was quite disappointed... And for €100 for two people, it wasn't a bargain. What a shame.

Nice basement restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and super nice ceiling and good lighting. Food since it is a steak house is mainly what you eat and there is a lot to choose from and the prices are reasonable! The beer selection is not that big! But there are several non-alcoholic beers to choose from! Also at ok prices! Good service and serving by waiters. A bit boring meat selection 300g for 30.50 euros. 1 Chicken breast, 1 small steak and 1 large minced steak! There is a free choice of potatoes! A little spice butter! And steak sauce!

I ate there with my wife. She used to live in Flensburg and knew the restaurant from before and raved about it. The ambiance is nice, the place is very original. You felt welcome, the service was friendly and attentive. The food was unfortunately very bad! For starters, we had very sour bruschetta. The tomatoes were poor quality; some were still green, not tasty. For my wife's main course, salmon on vegetable ratatouille with salad. The fish was dry, the ratatouille was way too salty, and the salad was bitter (she left half the food). I had porterhouse steak with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were good, but the steak was grilled too long, resembled a shoe sole, tasted bland, and grew very large in the mouth (if you know what I mean). I ordered it medium. I ate everything because I was simply hungry and didn't want to just throw away €40. It all sounds very nitpicky, but it isn't. The food just wasn't prepared well. We told the waiter, and they listened. They tried to repair the "damage" and reduced the bill by the drinks, which was nice, but it really should have been reduced by the food, since the food was bad, not the drinks. Long story short... paid €85 for a bad meal. One extra star for the service, otherwise it would have been one. We won't be going there again.

The food was very good and plentiful. Unfortunately, the cellar was so busy that the two waiters couldn't possibly serve all the guests! It's a shame, but the waiters were very friendly and helpful!

Unfortunately, drink orders were taken very late. Reordering was also almost impossible. I'm very surprised, as many establishments complain that guests don't order enough drinks, and we would have liked to do that, but our group wasn't really able to.

We have been to Porterhouse before and were really happy to eat here. We experienced beef that had no taste, incredibly dry and almost impossible to chew. (Typical with previously frozen meat, in any case not fresh) The service was not focused on asking if we were missing anything, including forgetting the water that was ordered, as well as a very long wait. Unfortunately, I have to write here that I cannot recommend the place🙁 we talked about how we could have gotten a better man at the Greek for less than half the price. The house wine can be recommended, it was good.

Loved it here! I wanna go back. Food was yummy, service was nice. They speak both German and Danish and I'm sure they speak English as well. Forgot to take a picture of the food before I started eating coz it looked amazing. Update april 15, 2025 they still make great food 🥰 our server this time spoke German and English (not Danish). 15.03.2025 Went for another visit and tried out some other steaks and the food is still excellent. They even adjusted my order to fit my diabetes. ---------- This place has a very unique atmosphere because of the arched ceiling with different gnomes painted on it. The food os very delicious and the service is top notch. We'll definitely be back. A piece of advice, if you order and XXL steak be aware that you can ask for 2 x 200 that way the last bit won't be too dry.

Beautiful restaurant in Flensburg. The food was okay, ordered quickly and served well. Unfortunately, at least on this evening, the service left a lot to be desired. There was no permanent server for our seating area; The problem had already begun at the five tables around us. A nice lady greeted us and took our order. Unfortunately, she didn't know the menu by heart, so when we ordered a salad from the buffet, we were charged extra for it. The cards were collected immediately and we checked digitally a third time to see whether the side dish from the buffet was actually missing. And indeed: it was on the menu with the dish. So we politely pointed out again that the salad buffet was included. There was only a note and an apology that the lady didn't know the card because it had been changed. When the food and drinks came, two side dishes that were ordered were missing. We asked nicely again whether we could still get these as they had been forgotten. Only one was submitted later, and in the end both were charged. When re-ordering drinks, it took a very long time for a waitress to have a look at the table and report. As there seemed to be no fixed force for our seating area. What can I say? There is definitely room for improvement. That shouldn't happen in this price segment. Please improve your service and create service areas in the restaurant. So that one server is responsible for one area and not five different servers serving a table. Then these errors won't happen again.

Simply great, the vaults of the Flensburg dwarves are still well preserved and invite you to dream about the past. Certainly an interesting old legacy of the Flensburg merchants. The lunch menu was, as usual, top notch and cooked to perfection. We had a steak plate of beef/turkey/minced meat with baked potatoes and it was very tasty and sufficient. The service was quite cold at the beginning, since when do you have to make a reservation for lunch? Don't look too askance, we're in Flensburg and not in a Michelin restaurant, we'll practice that again... it wasn't bad. Otherwise we were served quickly, politely and properly. We'll be happy to come back, thank you very much!

A really nice restaurant, but the food and service do not live up to the room. It was very small portions and in addition the bread was forgotten!!! Serving and food certainly did not live up to expectations, sour show. But today everything was simply in order 👍.

Good steak and cozy surroundings

A rustic, cozy restaurant in a historical ambience. The food was fresh and the portions were sufficient. In our opinion, the prices may be a bit too high. We hadn't reserved a table, but when we asked we were offered a table for a little over an hour. What struck us as somewhat unpleasant was that the couples who came directly after us were all seated at tables without reservations, with no time limit or a minimum of 2 hours. Meanwhile, we waited a quarter of an hour for our waitress to reappear and take our order. Eating under time pressure therefore diminished the positive impression of this location.

Unfortunately, the two of us were not allowed to test the food. We called and according to the navigation we will arrive at 8:10 PM, but 8 PM is the last thing they want to reserve. Very special, 10 minutes later and you are no longer welcome. Google says they are open until 10 p.m., so maybe change that? Not really customer friendly.

Really nice rooms with rustic decor, and the atmosphere here was good. The food was also very good, although the service was a bit slow, just as we had to ask for certain things several times before they succeeded. However, it must be said that it was really busy this evening.

Nice restaurant, price-performance ratio is a bit too high, the food was good and tasty. The beef steak was fried as ordered, it was buttery tender and tasted great. Overall a good 4 out of 5 stars. What was really annoying was the layer of dust on the “light balls” that are on the tables.

Exquisite dinner. We arrived without a reservation, but were nevertheless assigned a cozy corner. The food was well prepared and especially the meat was cooked to perfection. Probably the best piece of meat I've had in a long time. Would love to come again - both for the food and the atmosphere.

Fantastic cozy place. Totally packed with guests, must be because the food is fantastic and the portions are huge. We had booked a table for 7, unfortunately they had thrown our reservation away, but they managed to find a table for us anyway, incredible because there were no other tables available in the whole spacious restaurant. The meat is so tender that a toothless person could eat here😉

But at the expensive end, the price compared to what you get

Were there again today after a long time. Food was good for 6 people and the steaks were grilled to perfection. We were a little disappointed with the Mafiosi. It was heaped with green olives and garlic and hot peppers were spared. Actually, everything was just warmed briefly in olive oil. That has nothing in common with Mafiosi or Siziliana. But the steaks were...as I said...on point. Next time I'd rather have pepper steak.
