Pier99 in Nordhorn

Very cozy and great location on Lake Vechte.

Me and my partner recently stayed overnight and enjoyed both the hotel and the restaurant. The food at the breakfast and lunch was extremely tasty and beautifully presented. The setting is comfortable, welcoming and relaxed. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive and professional — they made our stay very pleasant. We will definitely return and recommend this place to others.

We went there for breakfast and unfortunately it's gone downhill this year. The rolls taste like they're from yesterday, which wasn't the case before. The scrambled eggs aren't good either. The bacon is very tasty and the juices are good too, just like they used to be. It's a real shame, though. You shouldn't skimp on the rolls at a breakfast buffet. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

Unfortunately, the acoustics were poor, the music was too loud, like in a factory hall; it was impossible to have a conversation.

We ate here today with 13 people. The service was friendly but not professional. Drinks were refilled, but the previous glasses weren't taken away, causing the table to become quite crowded. They solved this by moving the mess to another table themselves, so that the food we ordered could have a place. We thought the schnitzels were fried frozen products, and the salad was not fresh and sour. The fries around it were nice and crispy. The carpaccio served was very small and didn't have a nice bright red color. And very little for 17 euros. We used to come here a lot, but these days the quality is deteriorating rapidly! Dear Pier99, do something about this before it's too late! You have a great location that we would like to keep in Nordhorn, with a good kitchen. There hasn't been much evidence of that lately.

We went out to dinner last night and had a fantastic, fun evening with excellent food and a fantastic waitress named Leoni 😉. Thanks again, Leoni, for your amazing efforts 🙏 for my little niece, who unfortunately has a gluten allergy. My partner, a restaurant manager and deputy manager at a good hotel, was very impressed with her hard work and customer service. The entire atmosphere and the staff were just super friendly, always attentive, and thankfully not pushy.

Super delicious food and incredibly friendly staff. If anything was missing, it was brought right away. Good organization and great teamwork. Thanks to the option to reserve a table online, we barely had to wait. While waiting for dinner, the kids could choose between various puzzles and coloring pages. We had a delicious meal with two kids, and everyone went home full and happy. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The ship is sinking! We've enjoyed visiting you since it opened and have always been satisfied. Whenever something wasn't right, it was brought up on site, and we were accommodated. The menu was good, the price-performance ratio was decent, and the service was always quite prompt. A few weeks ago, we returned after a long absence and were looking forward to certain dishes. Nonsense. That they might change their approach – okay. We probably won't be coming back with this menu anymore, as neither the selection of dishes nor the price-performance ratio suits us anymore. And even the staff confirmed that many guests were upset about the menu change. Good luck.

A fantastic restaurant! The downstairs area is beautifully decorated with a slightly rustic feel. The beautiful window overlooking Lake Vechte offered a view. The food was also incredibly delicious. Since it was my daughter's birthday, we got a free ice cream, and thanks to the super-friendly staff member Leonie, we got the Twister with Lotus instead of the ice cream cake. The service caters to every request. Truly top-notch! Thank you, Leonie, for making the evening so wonderful with your outstanding service. We'll be happy to come back again!

We enjoyed coming here in previous years. They have a new menu that hardly includes any typical meat or fish dishes. There's also no allergens list; they had to look it up, which took almost half an hour. We ordered pizza and pasta, which weren't particularly good. This was our last visit.

Wonderful restaurant! Beautiful view of the lake and the staff ;) Spacious ambience and fantastic drinks and food! The service is terrific, especially the nice lady named Leonie who has made some of our restaurant visits not just a "dining out" but a special experience. I would like to particularly highlight her friendly and accommodating manner. Now we come to the drinks, the nice employee with the brown curly hair, blue eyes and the large tattoo on his arm conjured up wonderful drinks for us, beautiful and with love!🧡 A while ago, the monthly menu featured a cocktail he had invented, and even though it was only seasonal, I'm lucky that I still get it every time I order it, that's what I call fantastic service and customer focus! Now we come to the main part, the particularly delicious food. I've tried a lot, from pizza to pasta, all of it fantastic. Many thanks to the team and the head chef. Without you, the place wouldn't run the way it does. Even when it's busy, the food always arrives at our table quickly and freshly. Prices have naturally risen somewhat due to inflation, but you pay for quality here, and I'm happy to spend a little more! All in all, one of the best restaurants in the area. I can recommend a visit to everyone! But see for yourself!

Enjoying a lovely dinner with friends at one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, we hadn't been back in a long time, but our rating has dropped from 5 to 3 stars. The menu has been significantly reduced. Our favorite dishes are no longer on it. No more fancy fish dishes, but there are still four meat options: schnitzel with mushroom sauce, wiener schnitzel, currywurst, and spareribs. The restaurant wasn't full, but it was a noisy environment. The location is beautiful right on the lake. Perhaps it would be nicer on a summer day. There's a wide selection of cocktails and drinks, but that wasn't what we came for.

Absolutely not. The beer is too expensive, and it's warm, too. We had to order ice cubes to drink the beer. I'll leave it alone, I won't go back.

I went to lunch with a friend yesterday. There were only four tables around 1 p.m. We had to stand up for anyone to come. We were used to it differently at the pier. About a year and a half ago, it was really well on its way to becoming a great place again, but what happened now? I don't recommend the menu (it's an overpriced chip shop). The staff were annoyed (even though there was nothing going on). For us, this was definitely the last time.

Even one star is too many. I've rarely encountered such unfriendly staff. Not only did I wait forever for staff, but I also received cold food and the drinks arrived later than the food. The best part is, don't you want to leave a tip? I was stunned!

Very beautiful at the Vechtesee

The website says gluten-free options are available. The employee had to ask and returned with a folder of paperwork meant for the kitchen. I couldn't make heads or tails of it. So, there was no menu showing what was gluten-free. I decided to cut my losses and order nothing. The employee apologized. Unfortunately, you can't eat excuses. The people with me received a cold dish. A new one was brought out, but the review was mediocre. Not exactly a success.

We were there on Saturday for the breakfast buffet. Our table had a beautiful view of the lake. The service was very friendly and attentive. The buffet selection left nothing to be desired. Our guests were also very satisfied.

Very bad is not as it was, a pity, bad reception, booked because of birthday, no one reacted to it, menu was and is terrible, no steak, no fish or normal dishes that you would expect in a restaurant, this was a visit to a chip shop along the motorway with a couple of pizzas, not to be compared with 2 years ago, very disappointed

Regulars were very disappointed. The portions are getting significantly smaller and the prices are rising (Schakalaka Platter, Ice Cream Parlor, etc.). It was impossible to have a conversation with friends because the music was extremely loud. You won't have to go back.

Just don't go there. It's canned food and absolutely not worth the price.

Little to no bread selection, rolls rock hard, scrambled eggs not replenished in a timely manner, cheese selection nothing special, espresso cups only available upon request, etc. We're used to it completely differently, so it's no longer worth the money.

The food was really bad. My bowl was missing three ingredients and tasted absolutely nothing. Unacceptable for the high price. However, it must be acknowledged that a new, different dish (fries) was brought out without any problems. With the other bowl, a request for an ingredient was ignored, and this dish was also not tasty; the rice was still very hard. To make up for it, we got a round of drinks. The service isn't to blame for these quality deteriorations; they were always friendly.

I've been a regular for a long time, but the food is getting worse and worse. There's no steak on the menu anymore. The salad is only 70% large. The pizza, which used to be really delicious, now seems to have cheaper and absolutely tasteless ingredients on it. So I sent it back. Something has to change... Bye, Pier99.

Perhaps they should hand out headphones upon entry. At approximately three-quarters capacity, it's already quite loud, so you can speak louder to the person sitting opposite you. The ambiance generally has potential, but it's only noticeable in certain places. The food: The bread with salsa, which wasn't salsa but still tasted good, unfortunately doesn't make up for the dry bread. The house-made Penne 99 dish with chicken was largely bland. The pasta and sauce unfortunately had hardly any flavor. The chicken cubes felt like they came out of a bag. The espresso was just as bland as the main course. My wife, however, laughed at me in exasperation when she tried my crème brûlée. By the way, I've never had such a huge bowl (no joke) of crème brûlée before I realized why. It was a bowl of vanilla pudding with brown sugar sprinkled on top. No crème brûlée, no flambéed sugar, just a complete disappointment (or even deception) for €8.99 for what was probably €1 worth of goods. Our server was polite and did a good job for the most part. Overall, however, the staff seemed very stressed and rushed. Additionally, the staff apparently doesn't receive any tips from the owner when paying digitally – #pathetic. I'm only giving the second star because I've had worse experiences and feel sorry for the staff.

This year was our third visit to Pier99, always as a stopover on our way from southern Germany to one of the North Sea islands. The ambiance, right next to the Hotel Riverside and the shores of Lake Vechta, is truly lovely. There's plenty of seating, the staff are extremely friendly, and the food and drinks are excellent. The clientele is diverse, encompassing all age groups, and we've always felt very comfortable. And since Pier99 also serves as a breakfast restaurant with a lavish buffet in the morning, we've always left Nordhorn with a smile on our faces.

Disastrous, the quality has declined considerably. The music is much too loud and the place is generally very hectic. Very crowded, with tables stacked up against each other. The food quality leaves a lot to be desired. The price/performance ratio is nowhere near right.

We went there to eat with our children this late afternoon. Unfortunately the food was cold and the fries tasted like they had been fried three times.

After a long absence, I visited Pier99 again. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The quality of the food has declined significantly, and the portion sizes are disproportionate to the price! From 7:00 PM onwards, they offer cocktails at a reduced price, but I was disappointed here too. My cocktail tasted mostly like water and had little to do with a good drink. On the positive side, the ambiance is very nice, as usual, with many cozy areas that invite you to linger. Unfortunately, we had to wait about 20 minutes before we could even place our order.

Ordered a bottle of water but it was lukewarm so I asked for ice cubes.

We ate here with two people in the evening. Despite it being busy, we were served quite quickly. There's a beautiful view of the water, and the pizzas were delicious. However, after eating more than half of the pizza, I noticed a hair between the zucchini and the cheese. I mentioned this to the server, and they suggested they make a new pizza or order something else. I explained that I was full and that this wasn't helpful. The server did apologize, though.

It's a nice location, and I definitely recommend it for drinks. The service is excellent. The food, however, wasn't so good. There's a "smashed potatoes" section, but it doesn't look anything like it should. The burgers are cheap, tasteless factory-made burgers. I'd look elsewhere for good food.

The quality of the food has declined significantly. I recently had a burger. The meat wasn't tasty at all, the bacon was pitch black, the lettuce was already brown, and the cucumber slice was at least 3 cm thick. The only good thing about it was the bun. The portion of fries that came with it was tiny. Unfortunately, they don't serve sweet potato fries anymore. My husband had pasta al arrabiata and was looking forward to something spicy. But that wasn't the case at all. It was just a sour tomato sauce. We were very disappointed with the food, especially since the price isn't exactly cheap. It's a shame, because we usually enjoy going to the Pier. The waiter was particularly impressive. He always had a friendly smile and was very attentive.

The place is nice and the restaurant is beautifully designed, but I found the food and service simply poor. Too expensive for the quality. I found the meat, especially with my beef burger, to be poorly prepared and the fries barely salted. It took a very long time for the food to arrive, and the waiters were stressed and had tunnel vision, making paying difficult.

WITH few words... Catastrophe... Had to wait half an hour for the waiter to arrive... Then we ordered coffee and cake and a non-alcoholic beer... After about 10 minutes, the coffee and cake arrived... But no sugar and no beer. The cake was dry... And not to mention, they delivered something we hadn't ordered. It was taken back. Then the bill came, which again showed the item we hadn't ordered... So the bill was changed again... My wife and I won't be going there again....

The food was very tasty and arrived quickly. Unfortunately, I only received a different pasta dish than I ordered. The chicken instead of salmon was also delicious, but the crumbles were missing from the dessert, which was less dramatic. Some goodwill as "compensation" would have been nice, as the food would have been thrown away unnecessarily if I had exchanged it. The background noise was quite loud; noise-reducing elements such as plants or other objects that could dampen the sound would have been desirable. It was raining heavily, and it was raining on tables inside, which wasn't exactly refreshing. In summary, everything was very tasty and definitely deserves a return visit, but there is clear room for improvement.

...sometimes you have those moments when everything comes together; At the end of a beautiful, warm summer day, we made a reservation at Pier 99 for six of us. We were served quickly, and we had a delicious appetizer (salsa) alongside the bread basket. The pizzas, schnitzels, and pulled pork burgers we ordered were all among the best we've ever tasted. All of this in an atmosphere that makes you relax, as if you're sitting in a beach bar on (South)See... Thanks to the staff; you gave an already good day a fantastic ending! A big thumbs up to all of you!

We spontaneously stopped in here today with three children. I can't understand many of the reviews regarding service and quality. The food was good, just as we expected for such a wide selection. Soft-serve ice cream with a cone, sauce, chocolate shavings, and Smarties for kids for dessert for €2.99 each was an absolutely great price. Our service was very attentive but not intrusive. We really loved the ambiance. Right by the lake. We sat inside because the weather was unfortunately a bit too windy for us to sit outside. I think the service is having a bad day too. They're just people who work there.

We went to Pier99 after a day trip. The chili was also beautifully presented and delicious, and the service was very friendly and prompt. Of course, there's a sea surcharge.

The location is very nice. The ambiance is interesting. The staff is attentive. Unfortunately, the food is below average at best, clearly convenience food; in other words, extremely boring. The tables are cleared a bit too quickly, which really spoils a cozy evening.

We ate well there after our cycling tours and felt comfortable

After coming there for 14 years and celebrating every birthday in the family there, even my son had his wedding there, with pain in my heart I have to say… no more Pier99. Over the years we was ok with increased prices, less portions and here and there a miss with orders, now they have introduced a new menu and it demoted the restaurant to a second rate quick food place with mainly pasta and pizza and some burgers. All steaks are off the menu and so are all fish dishes, now when you order crushed potato with shrimp you get 3(!) shrimps and some baked up potato mush covered with over cooked greens. The cocktail glasses are now the size of a double shot glass but the price is still the same. So we are done, thanks for the years, we will be finding something else.

It was delicious to eat here again at this lovely location. I find non-alcoholic beer a bit expensive at €4, just like many of the other drinks. This time I had the potato with pulled pork. It has a lot of greens, but the amount is just right. I'm not much of a salad lover, but it was still okay. The cocktails are great.

I travel a lot for work and I like having a good, yet simple restaurant close to my hotel. I really enjoyed the pizza!

The location right on the water is superb, but unfortunately neither the food nor the service can live up to it. We waited 1.5 hours for our food, and one of the three dishes was unfortunately brought out incorrectly – with meat instead of vegetarian. The Mexican bowl was missing three ingredients: mozzarella, lime, and nachos. The nachos did arrive, but they were so sticky that the package must have been opened some time ago. The third dish only arrived after another long wait. An apology for everything that went wrong was only given when we asked for the bill. Mistakes happen, but then you can admit to them and compensate the guests. The service here is unfortunately abysmal, so we won't be coming back despite the beautiful view.

The restaurant was still fully booked despite Mother's Day, and the service was quite professional and prompt. The food and drinks arrived fairly quickly, and we all enjoyed our meals. We'd love to come back!

The ambiance and service were really good. But the food was anything but good. My husband's burger didn't have a patty. It was more like a thick meatball. On my pizza, ingredients seemed to have been thrown in from afar, and the chicken pieces were definitely pre-cooked. It proved to us once again that we're better off elsewhere. The quality of the ingredients has truly deteriorated.

Not much going on at 4 p.m. on a Sunday. The milkcake was delicious. But almost all the tables weren't clean. The staff were standing around chatting.

Too loud. The food is simple. But it was okay. It could have been more lovingly prepared. The weather was nice, but the beach was closed. The staff was friendly in every situation. Drinks came after the meal. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Because it's located on the beautiful Vechtesee, it's very busy. It's okay for a drink and a bite to eat.

We've been going here for years. We drive 70 kilometers just to eat here. The food used to be great, but recently it's gotten significantly worse. Pizzas arrive cold, and the meat on the pizza tastes old and dry. Pasta dishes are subpar, but they taste good, so we don't drive 70 kilometers anymore. Except, of course, the atmosphere is still great. The staff is friendly. It's a shame the food isn't what it used to be.

Prices keep rising, portions keep getting smaller, and quality keeps declining. And even at the beginning, it was just about okay for the money. What was once acceptable is now unjustifiable. Another store that falls victim to compulsive profit optimization. Here, you're paying for the location of the property, definitely not for good food.

It's a shame, the ambiance and location are great. Drinks were okay, but drink orders were forgotten. One of the four waiters really made an effort, which somewhat salvages the rating in that area. What completely ruined the whole thing was the fact that our food orders were completely forgotten. As far as I can tell, they have a digital system, so the question is, how could that happen? After we followed up after about 90 minutes, we received the answer "the food was forgotten" and that we should wait another 30 minutes. We then left and ate at another restaurant. That's honestly never happened to me before.

We were previously regular guests at Pier99. Unfortunately, the new menu lowers the previously excellent food selection to that of a better chip shop or simple pizzeria. Prices have also increased, portion sizes have been reduced, and what we had unfortunately tasted like convenience food. The friendly service and the great location on the lake remain, but that might not be enough in the long run, at least for locals.

Since the Pier opened, we've been frequent guests at this restaurant and often enjoyed the food. The fish platter and the steaks, in particular, were always excellent. We were there again last Sunday, and to our great surprise, all the delicious items were removed from the menu, leaving only chip shop fare, including the Manta Ray platter! Very disappointing. You won't see us here again.

Pier99 completely delighted us! Not only is the food a true highlight in terms of taste – the presentation is also hard to beat. Fresh, delicious, and lovingly prepared. The prices are absolutely reasonable and perfectly match the taste experience offered. The cocktails were also excellent and creatively prepared. A very special compliment goes to our waiter, Ole. He introduced himself by name right at the beginning and even remembered our names – a small gesture with a big impact! This immediately created a personal, warm atmosphere, almost like being in your own living room. Our seat right by the water perfectly rounded off the evening – a stunning view and pure relaxation after a long day. A visit to Pier99 is definitely worth it – we'd love to come back!

Not good service. Waited 10 minutes. Then sat down at another place where we had to wait again. Almost decided to leave when the order was taken. Cappuccino... lukewarm. soup, good taste but unfortunately lukewarm. Chai latte. Bad taste and lukewarm. Fries good temperature and taste. Well all in all there is still something to be gained from the temperature. When asked if everything tasted good and I indicated that the food and drinks were lukewarm. The man raised his eyebrows questioningly and asked "lukewarm" and then he started talking to others. No tip for this establishment.

There were 13 of us there for breakfast. Huge selection...but there was no bread...or whole-grain rolls. The scrambled eggs were egg custard made in a convection oven. It didn't taste good. The bacon wasn't crispy at all...rather soft and mushy...and there were no diced onions for the ground beef. Hence only 3 stars for the food.

I've been going to this restaurant for many years and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I have to say that it's getting worse every year! The current menu is an attempt to be a better snack bar. Simply embarrassing. Food quality: those who buy cheaply earn more, and hey, good chefs aren't cheap, if they even have any chefs left in the kitchen. The only thing that still makes the Pier good is the location, and some of the servers are also top-notch. I've been a customer for 8 years and always overlooked minor things, but this was the last time for now!

We waited 20 minutes for drinks and another 40 minutes for our food. Furthermore, our comments about missing items from our order were rude. The service staff were generally very irritated and rude.

Kasia provided excellent service and was always on the ball! Unfortunately, the food deteriorated considerably – I don't recommend it.
