Pani Smak in Hamburg

I recently dined at Pani Smak in Hamburg and while the service was friendly, I was left wanting more from the experience. The restaurant itself has a basic, unassuming atmosphere, which might appeal to some but wasn't particularly inviting to me. The food, while served in generous portions, didn't quite live up to the price tag. The soup, a dish I often enjoy in Poland, lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. Additionally, the salad felt a bit lackluster, with the vegetables appearing slightly past their prime. Despite these shortcomings, the waiter was attentive and pleasant throughout the meal. Overall, my experience at Pani Smak was somewhat underwhelming. While the service was commendable, the quality of the food and the ambiance didn't quite meet my expectations.

Very nice restaurant with simple furnishings but excellent food and friendly service. We had pirogues, stuffed cabbage and bigos and everything was really, really good! For me, Pani Smak is a real insider tip and we will definitely go there again.

We had a very nice evening with authentic Polish dishes. We had barszcz, bigos, pierogi and roast pork, everything was excellent.

Delicious, everything seems fresh and homemade. Top service. Ambience serves its purpose. Prices are okay, but not cheap. Recommend coming by bike or public transport, as parking spaces are not easy to find.

Gestern war ich mit meiner Freundin in diesem Lokal.Dort angekommen wurden wir nett empfangen. Der Gastraum ist klein und sehr schlicht eingerichtet. Gemütlichkeit findet man dort nicht. Unsere Gerichte haben geschmeckt. Was wir aber überhaupt nicht tolerieren können ist, dass in den Räumlichkeiten die Luft so mega schlecht ist. Da die im Nebenraum liegende Küche, offen zum Gastraum ist und die Küchengerüche sehr extrem sind. Also um es kurz zu machen, unsere gesamten Sachen, auch die Taschen waren durchtränkt von alten Fettgeruch und das geht trotz sofortigem Lüften auch nicht raus. Zu Hause angekommen ist eine Dusche unumgänglich. DAS ist sehr ärgerlich, wenn man die Mäntel nur durch eine Reinigung wieder tragbar machen kann ALSO mein Tip für alle, die das Essen einmal ausprobieren möchten, zieht euch alte Sachen an oder bestellt euch das Essen to go.

Update November 2024 We were there again recently, the food is still great, just like it used to be! Unfortunately, the furnishings are very maritime and no longer cozy Polish. Still highly recommended! _________________________________________ Inconspicuous from the outside, but inside you feel like you're at grandma's in Poland. Super cute decor and the food is amazing! Everything is homemade of course and simply delicious! We have already rented the restaurant and celebrated our birthdays, all guests were thrilled without exception! Absolute recommendation!

The food and service are A1. You can get traditional Polish food for decent money. This tastes like it was made by mom at home with a lot of love. I can only recommend it. Why 4 instead of 5 stars for ambience? Quite simply, they have made a lot of the shop, but the tables and chairs don't invite you to linger for long. Which isn't bad for the food, but it's a shame because we would have liked to stay longer. But at some point the chairs invite you to leave again. Otherwise just great, really great.

Small but fine Polish restaurant directly on Jarrestraße. Super friendly service who explains the Polish cuisine and menu to you. The pierogi were super tasty, both boiled and fried.

A cozy shop with delicious piroggies. There were four of us and we tried all variations of the piroggie. The general favorite was the filling with potatoes and Gouda, although the pepper filling is also very good. The tomato soup was also very tasty. The waiter only spoke broken German, which is why the order was primarily in English.

Inconspicuous Polish restaurant on a side street in Jarrestadt. Definitely worth a visit. I don't eat meat and find a lot of choices there. There are homemade traditional dishes. Delicious. Pierogi with different fillings. Beetroot soup, cucumber salad, Polish beers. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I really enjoy eating there!

I simply like it here! The new catering also offers delicious, hearty dishes. The menu is pleasantly small, but offers enough variety of Polish specialties. Anyone who loves homemade food will feel at home here.

We were here today. I really liked the staff (they speak German, English and Polish). The food is delicious. The establishment itself is simple, but for Hamburg it’s even quite good. The establishment is located in a quiet area, not noisy, cozy. I recommend: delicious homemade food at reasonable prices 😍

A small and fine Polish restaurant. Since I am very familiar with Polish cuisine, I was excited about the visit. The very nice Keller only speaks English and Polish. He explained to us very well the possible combinations on the map. Almost everything is possible, so almost everyone can find something to their liking here. Right in advance. This is one of the best "Zapiekanka" I have ever eaten. By the way, there is a nice selection of Polish schnapps. If you want to try something like that, you can do it here. As a driver, I stuck with the very tasty non-alcoholic drink. If you want to try traditional Polish cuisine, you can do it here.

The restaurant service was very nice. The soups are really good. Fried dumplings are very fatty. All in oil, I also recommend boiled ones. Prices approx. 8/10

I ordered food to pick up today. Everything was very tasty. Can only be recommended. Zurek Bigos and mixed pierogi that are filled.

Pierogi sehen aus und schmecken original wie aus dem TK Beutel, wenn sie tatsächlich hausgemacht sind, dann extrem schlecht. Überteuert noch dazu. Die Suppen haben weder einen guten Geschmack noch Substanz. Geschmack auch wie aus der Tüte. Zum Rest der Speisen kann ich nichts sagen, aber das Geld spare ich mir wohl eher. Die Bedienung fragt zudem ziemlich aufdringlich und oft, ob es schmeckt. Zum Glück bin ich oft genug bei Muddern oder in Polen, da kann ich mir dieses pseudo authentische essen sparen.

We ate pierogi at Pani Smak yesterday because we were craving Polish food. The food was very tasty and the owner was friendly and committed to our hospitality. We came for the food and found the bistro atmosphere simple but appropriate, so we got what we wanted. We felt comfortable and would love to come back.

The food was delicious but €15 for a few pirogi is steep. The atmosphere is subterranean and you don't want to stay there longer than necessary.

I highly recommend it! The restaurant is run by very nice people of Polish origin. They brilliantly reflect the flavors of Polish cuisine. I recommend the cabbage roll - one of the best I've ever eaten. Bravo to the chef! Homely atmosphere. I give it 5* because I can't give it more and you really deserve it! Regards :)

The food is very tasty. Very authentic. Very nice service. Since I'm originally from Poland, I can (I think?) judge this well. Ambience and atmosphere more like in a small Polish town. Highly recommended for people who like or want to try Polish cuisine but/and don't necessarily want an ambience like in a big Polish city.

This restaurant offers traditional Polish cuisine with the atmosphere of your grandma's. There are even Polish drinks. Everything is made there in-house and you can taste it, positively. Polish music is playing in the background and the managing director is singing along quietly. That was somehow super friendly. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends and will go there again. The bistro “Pani Smak” offers a variety of Polish dishes, including classics such as pierogi, stuffed cabbage, bigos and various soups, which are homemade and well prepared. We have visited the restaurant several times and are always pleased with the owners' exceptional hospitality. Since a change of ownership a few months ago, we believe the taste and quality of the dishes on offer have improved significantly. If you want to get to know authentic Polish cuisine and like it hearty, this is the right place for you. We will definitely come back, clear recommendation!

Unfortunately the food isn't particularly tasty and not fresh either. Far from authentic Polish cuisine. For €60 for two people you expect a little more taste.

A small restaurant with a manageable selection of delicious Polish dishes. I can warmly recommend Pierogi and Kopytka. Bigos and various salads also taste great. Add a cold Polish beer and anyone who likes good home cooking will be very full and very satisfied. You can order in Polish or English. I'll be going back soon!

Since I grew up with Polish cuisine, I was very excited about this restaurant. The food (we had Zurek, Barszcz, Bigos and Pulpety) was definitely comparable to the dishes my mom always made, very good! We were also more than satisfied with the service, fast, attentive and friendly. Thank you very much and we'll be happy to come back!

Ein kleines Bistro. Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Das zubereitete Essen leider geschmacklich ungenügend. Die Rote Beete Suppe mit ganzen Pfefferkörnern und großem Lorbeerblatt, mit Kartoffeln als Einlage war gerade noch ok aber das Schnitzel sehr fettig gebraten und die Klöße schmeckten eigenartig und waren mit Fett übergossen, konnte man nicht essen. Dazu ein Rote Beete Salat mit Meerrettich vermutlich, schmeckte auch nicht. Ich war schon oft in Polen und habe dort sehr gut und gerne gegessen. Das was im Bistro angeboten wird, hat mit authentischer polnischer Küche NICHTS zu tun. Die Quittung bekam ich später, hab massiv Durchfall bekommen.

A small bistro. The service is very friendly. Unfortunately the taste of the prepared food was unsatisfactory. The beetroot soup with whole peppercorns and a large bay leaf, with potatoes as a garnish was just ok, but the schnitzel was fried very greasy and the dumplings tasted strange and were covered in fat and you couldn't eat it. Plus a beetroot salad with horseradish, probably, but it didn't taste good either. I have been to Poland many times and enjoyed eating there very well. What is offered in the bistro has NOTHING to do with authentic Polish cuisine. I got the receipt later and had massive diarrhea.

A few days ago I was at Pani smak for the first time. Polish friends drew our attention to the small bistro in the heart of Jarrestadt. For the few places (under 20) a reservation is recommended. The furnishings (recently renovated) are characterized by pragmatic practicality. It's just a bistro and not a "cozy restaurant" that invites you to linger for a long time. Please don't take this as a negative thing. The menu is (pleasantly) limited. This suggests that the food is freshly prepared. Typical Polish home cooking dishes are offered. I had beetroot soup and bigos. Everything delicious. The pierogis are supposed to be really good, as I was credibly assured (I personally don't miss them - completely subjective opinion/taste!) The friendliness of the service goes without saying. Conclusion: real Polish home cooking, like mom's without the fancy!

I don't know what happened here, but it seems the owners have changed.... The new owner/waiter demonstratively treats the customers very differently, so our visit felt very unpleasant. But my friend enjoyed his roulade...

Das Essen war gut Aber ein Restaurant steht und fällt mit einer Bedienung, und die war nixxx… sorry ….. aber das geht gar nicht … kein guter Service , null Empathie …. Kein einzige zugewandte Interaktion , Teller vorzeitig weggenommen , obwohl eine Person noch am Essen war … Toilette unter Wasser … keine Rechnung erhalten, aber Betrag stimmte …. Aber nochmal… Essen war gut

Massacre. The service man was not interested at all... we felt like uninvited guests. After going to the toilet, I felt like leaving the premises. The walls in the toilet were black with fungus... I felt like I was in a cave... I wonder how this place works

I've definitely eaten better Polish, but it was OK. I recommend the pierogi with white cabbage and porcini mushrooms, they were very good. Unfortunately I didn't like the ones with meat at all. But the store was worth the trip for the adventurous toilets alone. 😂 See for yourself. Then you'll know what I mean. All in all, I can still recommend giving the restaurant a try, as everyone's tastes are different

We really enjoyed going to Pani Smak but unfortunately it lost its beautiful Polish charm after their renovation. The food is still delicious (although it has become significantly more expensive), the service is unfortunately no longer as friendly as before and the decor makes it look more like a snack bar instead of a cozy little Polish restaurant.

Simply super delicious! We ate Zurek and pierogies here, and I even ordered Zurek again, this soup was so delicious. 5 stars well deserved, the service is also very nice. Lovely again

Ein Besuch bei "Pani Smak" lohnt nicht. Sehr weit von einer guten polnischen Küche entfernt. Das Fleisch (Rinderrouladen und Schweinebraten) war lieblos zubereitet, die Knödel gummiartig und in einer schlechten Soße ertränkt. Salat als Beilage war alles andere als frisch. Die Preise sind für die Güte und die Menge der Essens nicht gerechtfertigt. Zudem kam das Gericht meines Mannes erst nachdem Andere schon fast aufgegessen haben. Laut dem Inhaber musste es erstmal aufgewärmt werden. Auf den Punkt getroffen - das Essen wird nicht frisch zubereitet, sondern lediglich aufgewärmt. Das schmeckt man. Das Verhalten des Inhabers war wie das Essen selbst- unterirdisch. Pampige, ironische Antworten auf Fragen bezüglich des Essens gehen garnicht. Polnische Gastfreundschaft sieht anders aus! Als Polin habe ich mich in Grund und Boden geschämt, habe mit der Bedienung überwiegend polnisch gesprochen damit meine deutsche Begleitung die Unfreundlichkeiten des Inhabers nicht bemerkt. Insofern kann ich die guten Bewertungen hier absolut nicht nachvollziehen! Wer authentische polnische Küche kennt, sollte um den Laden und den Foodtruck von "Pani Smak" einen großen Bogen machen.

Nicht so authentische Küche, wie es auf der Internetseite dargestellt wird. Zurek war enttäuschend, Pierogi zu fettig und es wurde ohne Sahne serviert. Außerdem sollte das Personal seine politische Meinungen für sich behalten.

Lokal godny polecenia. Jedzenie smaczne, fajna atmosfera, miła obsługa, czas oczekiwania na posiłek niezbyt długi, ceny w stosunku do jakości są na dobrym poziomie, a porcje wystarczająco duże. Bardzo chętnie pojawimy się ponownie.

Ich feier diesen Laden. Wie bei der polnischen Omma. Essen super authentisch! Toilette ist allerdings ein Erlebnis, aber wer ein bisschen Humor mitbringt steckt das weg. Absolute Empfehlung!

Gemütliches kleines Restaurant mit guten polnischen Essen. Hab ihn vorher nie wirklich wahrgenommen weil er so klein ist aber das macht den Laden aus. Sehr freundlicher Service.

Essen wie bei "Mama" in der Küche. Unfassbar freundlicher und gemütlicher Laden mit einer einfachen, aber dabei sehr guten Küche. Von der deftigen Gulaschsuppe bis hin zu den gebratenen Pierogi hat alles sehr gut geschmeckt. Meine absolute Empfehlung!
