Ophover Mühle in Wegberg

We were there for lunch on Saturday, November 29th, with a total of 18 people at 12:00 PM. Everything was very well organized. As agreed, we were offered Aperol as a welcome drink, Mühlen Happen as appetizers, and for the main course, we had a choice of five dishes. Everyone was very impressed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The price was right. We will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed the location. The ambiance was fantastic, both inside and out. Everything was very tastefully furnished and beautifully decorated. You immediately feel at ease. The very courteous and attentive service also contributed to this. All the staff were very friendly. Opinions about the food varied quite a bit within our group. The vegetarian/vegan dishes, as well as the "Mühlenhappen" (a type of snack), were very good. However, the schnitzel dishes left something to be desired, as the breading was neither crispy nor airy. And the "delicious fries" weren't really crispy either. Considering the price, this should be better. Nevertheless, it was a very pleasant evening at the Ophover Mühle.

We would have loved to order the venison from the current chef's specials. But by 6:30 p.m., both of our preferred dishes were already unavailable. We hadn't expected that. As an alternative, they offered goose, which could have been nice. However, the crispy texture described on the menu was nowhere near what we expected. The dumplings were the closest thing to crispy, but they could have been a bit softer – I wasn't impressed with the quality. The only thing I can really praise was the well-seasoned red cabbage, coarsely chopped and with large pieces of apple. That was truly excellent. Otherwise, the goose dinner was unfortunately not a particularly enjoyable experience. I would like to commend the very friendly and attentive waiter. But I would have liked to have had a similarly good meal. It's a shame, because I've always been satisfied on previous visits. Perhaps it will be better in the future.

Large historic mill. We sat a little apart, which allowed us to have a good conversation. Brunch was plentiful and varied, with something for everyone.

It's a highlight in Wegberg. We went for breakfast with eight friends. A buffet like no other. We were all satisfied. It was delicious, beautifully decorated, and freshly prepared.

We always enjoy going to the Ophover Mühle. The ambiance is modern yet cozy, making you feel at home immediately. The food is always excellent and impresses with its high quality. We particularly appreciate the clear menu, which clearly explains the origins of the regional ingredients – a plus that rounds out the experience. The service is always friendly and attentive, making you feel in good hands. For us, this is one of those restaurants that impresses all around – highly recommended.

Unfortunately, the iced coffee tasted strongly of a pre-packaged product from a carton and was completely unappealing in terms of flavor. Truly disappointing.

We were there for lunch with eight people and were thoroughly satisfied. A lovely atmosphere, the outdoor seating is fantastic. The food was delicious, the wait time was short—everything was perfect!

We enjoyed a really good breakfast with 15 people. We can only recommend this guesthouse, as my guests were also very satisfied.

Beautifully situated on an idyllic lake with a view of the natural sports facilities, yet just minutes from Wegberg's center, the Ophover Mühle is a true highlight. The menu changes regularly and offers a great selection of fresh, delicious dishes, along with the house mill beer, which is definitely worth trying. Whether for small family celebrations or large weddings, the various venues are perfectly suited. The service is attentive, warm, and professional. All in all, one of the best restaurants in the Wegberg area – highly recommended!

Great location and extensive breakfast buffet

Highly recommended, quaint, and has a feel-good factor. Very attentive and friendly service, ensuring guests feel at home and have a pleasant time. The food is beautifully presented, with plates so hot that it doesn't sit cold in front of you until the end. The service staff also make sure that guests are reminded several times not to touch their plates, or at least to use a napkin. We reserved a table by phone, and it was ready, so we were shown straight to our table. This certainly won't be the last time we go there, as everything from the quality to the service and ambience was just right for us.

Today we visited the Ophover Mühle for the first time. I would happily give it 10 stars. Everything was perfect. The service: top-notch. Stars plus. We didn't miss anything in our 5 hours there. My husband and I had breakfast at the Ophover Mühle today. It was delicious, and the waiters were all very friendly and attentive. Which, unfortunately, isn't always the case. Our dog was also warmly welcomed.

The Ophover Mill is located on a beautiful little lake. The Beekbach stream flows through the lake and powers the mill wheel (now in disuse). The mill was built in 1795, and the millworks can still be seen inside the restaurant. The restaurant invites you to linger. While enjoying coffee ☕️ and chocolate ice cream, we had a beautiful view of the mill pond.

Cozy terrace and very good food

Great location. We sat outside overlooking the pond. All the dishes – trout, zander, veal, and chicken – were excellent! The service was prompt and friendly. Special requests were no problem at all. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our visit! Both the starters and our main courses were truly delicious – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was mostly friendly and attentive. Only one waitress seemed a bit annoyed, which was unfortunately noticeable – a shame, but not a big deal. Overall, a truly enjoyable visit. We'd love to come back again if we get the chance!

The food was very good. The service left something to be desired. However, the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Breakfast with a view! But even if you sit inside, it's absolutely worth it. Great buffet, ample selection, and a superb service team. The value for money is absolutely spot on. Even the child was very happy.

A very good breakfast in a pleasant atmosphere with friendly service. Tapas are also offered in the evening, and you can spend a relaxing hour outside with wine and beer.

Five stars aren't enough. The cuisine serves regional quality at the best price/performance ratio. Service and ambiance complete the overall picture, as do the house mill beers. Even the longer journey to the Ophover Mill is worth it.

We visited the Ophover Mühle yesterday (my first visit) at very short notice and called to get a wonderful seat in the courtyard. It's no wonder you should make a reservation, otherwise you might not be able to get a seat, as the ambiance and atmosphere there are like a mini-vacation. We felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed it, including the food. The many small tapas, the mill bread, the changing menu, the drinks menu, etc. were wonderful. They also offer various long drinks, some with and some without alcohol. So there should be something for everyone. And the staff are relaxed and friendly—what more could you want? We'd love to come back!

Very much disappointed, a beautiful place in the wrong hands. Unfriendly service, they recognized we were tourists and gave us the worst table, inside a room with plastic roof that was like a greenhouse, 1 m from the toilets. The place is large and 90% of the tables were free, several in the outside terrace by the lake, but they didn't allow us to stay there. Food was not bad, good ingredients, but the preparation was very primitive, ingredients spread on the dish without any logic or art. Finally, they charged us 5 euro for 1 liter of tap water! Avoid this place, there are better alternatives close by

Since our wedding in June 2011, we've been eating here regularly and with great pleasure. We highly recommend the varied dishes, one of the best Hugo's anywhere, and the very friendly staff.

Wow, as always, delicious and plentiful. What I think is great is that my wife, who had gastric bypass surgery and therefore doesn't eat much, only had to pay the children's price – simply fantastic. Highly recommended for people who like a hearty breakfast.

We went there for dinner today with a larger group. The service was consistently friendly and always answered all of our questions! Everyone there was also in control, so everyone responded quickly. We all enjoyed the food, and the beer was delicious, too! We sat outside on the terrace; we really enjoyed it there. We'd love to come back!

I went to brunch with my son on Father's Day. The food was buffet style and nothing to complain about. Service was friendly. The price was reasonable.

Actually, it's really good and tasty. Unfortunately, we were unlucky last time and the food was too salty. I hope that was an exception, but the response from the service and the kitchen was good and appropriate. We'll definitely be back.

I can't share the positive reviews here, as we received a very unfriendly welcome today and were downright rudely "disinvited." At 6:10 p.m., only one table was occupied, but we were told all the tables were taken, and we were only given the "last table" right outside the door. We went based on a recommendation, but we will definitely not go back and can only advise against going if you expect hospitality in a restaurant.

Beautifully located restaurant right next to a small lake, perfect for relaxing in lush surroundings. The kitchen offers a successful mix of traditional dishes and creative, unusual creations. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared. My tip: Be sure to try the Herrencreme for dessert – a true classic! ;-)

A very nice location and restaurant. We sat in the conservatory, which is really nice because it's sheltered but still has an open sky. The only criticism was that towards the end, they either turned on a fan or opened a window, but it was definitely quite drafty. The food was very tasty, and the menu is very varied. After ordering, the food arrived pretty quickly.

Beautiful place to stay and dine. From cakes to snacks to full meals, this beautiful restaurant offers everything. Another plus point is the regional ingredients. Plus home-made beer. All of this in a lovingly furnished ambience.

We had breakfast at the Ophover Mill and were thrilled. Great location, super delicious breakfast, very nice service! The little ones were also thought of. (Children's chairs available). We'd love to come back.

We used to love going to the Ophover mill, but for about 3 years it hasn't been what it used to be. For “earlier” and for the great ambience, the 3 Stars. We tried a few more times, but unfortunately all we were left with was confirmation that the food and service was no longer right for us. The highlight was when we invited guests to breakfast brunch and we had to keep asking if we could still order drinks. In the entire time, a waitress only came to our table once. When my husband paid and still gave a big tip, there wasn't even a curt "thank you".

Gezellig restaurant met leuk behulpzaam personeel. Maar het eten was slecht. We waren allemaal teleurgesteld. De schnitzel was droog en taai, de friet was slap, alsof deze opgewarmd was. De asperges was dik en hard. Uiteraard doorgegeven aan de bediening. Ik kreeg een nieuwe portie asperges. Maar toen die er eindelijk aankwam was mijn eten koud. De nieuwe asperges was goed maar heel flauw. Het dessert van mijn keuze was uitverkocht. Teleurstellend en niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

The brunch has become more expensive, like everything else, but the offering has also shrunk. For example, there is no salmon at breakfast anymore. Otherwise ok. We are still reconsidering how often we go there in the future as there are other alternatives. But everyone should decide for themselves.

A beautiful, rustically decorated restaurant with excellent service. The various mill snacks and salads are highly recommended. The mill burger and fries are also very tasty. Unfortunately, the portions are rather small. Unfortunately, the "Vienna-style" schnitzel wasn't impressive.
