We were outside, I can't tell inside. The innkeeper was very friendly and happy to answer questions. The food was not everyday (including fried dumplings), but extremely tasty. The portions were just right for us. The prices were very reasonable.

We have already eaten at the potato kitchen twice. Once for dinner and today for lunch. There were 8 of us for dinner. After ordering our drinks, we received a greeting from the kitchen (fresh homemade potato chips). As a starter there was a very tasty asparagus cream soup. Our main courses were homemade brawn with fried potatoes and a side salad, schnitzel with fries and a side salad, schnitzel with lecho and fried potatoes, turkey steak with wrapping dumplings and a side salad. We were completely surprised for the first time, the dinner was excellent and wonderfully prepared, everyone enjoyed it and the plates were empty in no time. After these great dinners, we immediately decided to reserve a table for lunch. No sooner said than done. Today for lunch there were 9 of us. We ordered beef roulade with green dumplings and red cabbage, sauerbraten with green dumplings and red cabbage, turkey steak with wrapping dumplings and mixed vegetables, schnitzel with fries and a side salad. For dessert there was yogurt cream with strawberry puree on a biscuit base and chocolate pudding with vanilla sauce. There were also delicious potato chips as a greeting from the kitchen. The main courses were all freshly prepared, the portions were generous and tasted excellent, all the dishes ordered were eaten in no time, there was nothing left. The desserts rounded off our lunch perfectly. We were served just as well as the first time. The waiter is unique, he is attentive, always friendly, very good service, child-friendly, always has a casual saying on his lips and sometimes has time for a short, nice conversation if time permits. What should be mentioned...in the potato kitchen there are only two people running the place (the boss, who is also the cook, and her waiter). It's unbelievable what the two of them can achieve and the fact that they then respond to individual requests when ordering the food is simply indescribable. Hello, we were there in April. And I have to say that you can't charge that much money for such a tiny roulade. It's just a garden home with a bit of GDR flair, and that's how the prices should be. Maybe you can offer the roulade to older guests as a senior portion, but that's just not possible, charging prices like the big ones and then having a ready-made roulade... Waiter is OK. Service was good. The beer garden also looked inviting. You have a nice view. More heating could have been used in April. Yes, one more thing, for a glass of wine you should fill the carafe up to 0.25. What else? The prices on the online menu do not match the prices on the board, nor does the menu selection. Otherwise there are fine potato specialties here. The wrap dumplings were really good. But the side dishes are rather sparse. So there's some potential here.

The restaurant has been newly furnished, I miss the rustic quality that has always been associated with potato cuisine. I felt like I was in a train station waiting room. Hardly any decoration, the boss was visibly annoyed. The sauce I ordered was mixed from the bag with lumps, which will be added to the bill. All in all, extreme deterioration since the reopening. I'm disappointed 😞!

A good rustic kitchen The location of the inn is a beautiful, idyllic spot between gardens and houses on a slope overlooking the town of Schmölln. The outdoor area is large and partly covered for bad weather. If you drive, you should be prepared that when it's busier you'll have to park further down and walk about 5 minutes to the inn. For dinner there were dumplings, croquettes and potatoes with schnitzel, goulash and roulades. As a side dish, red cabbage, mixed vegetables and various sauces for the meat. The buffet was very tasty in terms of taste, but also natural at the same time. It wasn't overly seasoned and every flavor of the individual components came through. There are no complaints about the service. The drink requests were accommodated without much demand and the Aperol was my favorite of the evening. It is definitely recommended to eat here once.

We sat in the beer garden in beautiful weather. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed. We ordered our food and drinks. Shortly afterwards a greeting came from the kitchen. They were potato chips. Then later the food came. Everything was freshly prepared. After the main course we were offered a dessert. The food and dessert were super delicious. We liked it very much. Thank you.

If you like the old furniture and kitchen utensils from grandma's time, this is the place for you and you can enjoy delicious potato dishes from the super friendly staff. We really liked it here and it tasted really good too.

You come in and sit down at an old kitchen table with Nuts. Every table and chair looks different. The eyes begin to wander around and stop at familiar kitchen appliances or jars of pickled beans. Attentive service takes care of the guests' wishes. I stretch my legs under the table and enjoy. The food is served hot and tastes very good. What more do you want. Keep it up.

Die Kartoffelküche ist total nett. Sie bringt den Charme von vor 40 Jahren zum Vorschein. Und wirkt dabei nicht veraltet. Das Essen ist mit Sicherheit kein 3 Sterne Essen jedoch glaube ich nicht dass der Inhaber und seine Frau dies im Sinn haben. Der Service ist ansprechend und wirkt aufgrund des Ambiente nicht aufgesetzt. Nach dem Motto"futtern wie bei Muttern"bekommt man hier eine gute Hausmannskost. Wer ist ein bisschen urig wünscht ist hier genau richtig. Ich kann das Lokal nur empfehlen.

Schnuckeliges mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtetes Lokal. Leider kein Schnitzeltag weil die Platte zum Braten defekt war. Schade, hatte mich darauf gefreut. Somit normale Karte zum normalen Preis. War trotzdem sehr lecker.

Wir waren das erste Mal da und waren, ach was, sind immernoch begeistert. Im Lokal selber kommt man aus dem gucken und staunen nicht raus, an jeder ecke gibts kleine Details, die einen erfreuen. Der Service ist wirklich freundlich und das Essen ist lecker und wird sehr humorvoll serviert. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder vorbei.

Wir waren zum 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag essen, für mich das erste mal und ich war sehr begeistert! Um es nicht unnötig in die Länge zu ziehen, hier kurz und knackig 😁... Essen/ Trinken: Super leckere, selbst gemachte Hausmannskost! Besonders hier ist auch die Nachspeise, schlicht und ergreifend einfach aber total schmackofatz! Service: Mega herzlichen, zuvorkommend und humorvoll! Sehr angenehm! Ambiente: Rustikal, gemütlich und einfach passend! Preis/Leistung: Top, angesichts der aktuellen Entwicklung der Lebensmittelpreise und was aus den Zutaten gezaubert wird, ist das völlig inordnung!

Absolut urige Kneipe. Die Innenausstattung erinnert an vergangene Zeiten, man fühlt sich in die Jugend zurück versetzt. Einweckgläser, Töpfe, Küchengeräte....automatisch kommen Gespräche über früher auf. Die Chefin ist super nett, das Essen Spitze. Die Speisekarte gut übersichtlich, dafür alles frisch zubereitet. Hierher werden wir zurück finden ;-)
