It all started about a year ago when I saw Holle's video. I was shocked that, as someone who grew up in Neuss and has a migrant background, I didn't know this place. The hype was real. The meat, the bread, everything was top-notch. However, what I experienced last week shocked me. For those who had been to Oguz Döner on Friday, they offer a lamb skewer in addition to the veal and chicken skewers. So I was looking forward to the skewer on Friday and ordered a lamb kebab. The taste had nothing to do with lamb. It tasted very strong, very stale, and extremely fatty. I almost spit it all out after the first bite because I couldn't get it down. I'll give the veal kebab another chance, but a new kebab shop in Neuss has recently taken the lead for me. Now, one thing that really bothers me: the restrooms. They're a no-go! Truly disgusting. Please work on that...

The kebab was okay, but unfortunately not the revelation I was hoping for. I went on the recommendation of friends, and perhaps that was why my expectations were so high. At the end of the day, I have to say that the kebab was too dry and had a very bland flavor. Perhaps it was too late in the evening (around 7 p.m.) or I was just having a bad day. It was our first and unfortunately our last visit, as neither the bread, nor the meat, nor the salad were that convincing. I could have saved myself the 40km drive. More about the doner kebab: The meat itself tasted good, but there was too little of it in the doner kebab and it wasn't anything special. Instead, there was plenty of salad, which was too much and overpowered the place. I wouldn't even recommend the sauce, as I personally didn't like it at all. I didn't even get the tzatziki, even though I requested it, and a few other things too. It's possible that it was because it's Saturday, but given how disorganized it is, maybe they should replace their staff, turn down the music, and freshen up the atmosphere. The doner kebab wasn't cheap at €8.50, and they could use more money.

Summary from several visits. The doner kebab is the best I've ever eaten, and the baklava was also truly excellent. However, I see room for improvement in other areas. Some employees seem bored and unfriendly. When you're standing in line outside, you can often see the employees resting their hands on the skewer with their gloves out of the side window, resting them on the outside of the facade/window frame. Seeing you touch the bread, etc., with the gloves a few seconds later spoils the experience.
