Five of us ate there for the first time yesterday. Very high quality products are used for the dishes (schnitzel and the roast beef were tender), and there is also a nice atmosphere outside in the garden. A very special thank you goes to the service worker Fabian! Super professional and personable gentleman :) we would love to come back

Were here for a birthday party, the food is expensive for the portion size and the service, but it was okay so far. Unfortunately, our table was served by several waitresses and the order got mixed up. A meal came wrong, so one of us didn't have any food for 15 minutes while the other one got cold. The cheese plate was more than disappointing and way too expensive. The service was very attentive.

The food there is very tasty and authentic southern German and Alpine tavern cuisine. I had the Tyrolean spinach dumplings and unfortunately the portion size was extremely small and I wasn't even remotely full afterwards. I don't do any physical work or have much of an appetite. I have absolutely no problem paying €22 for a good portion of dumplings, but I think you can expect to get enough of them in a pub.

Amazing. We had the spinach dumpling, veil schnitzel, roast pork, and apple strudel - all per the waitress’s recs. All delicious!! Highly recommend this restaurant !! Best meal of my entire trip

Unfortunately, today we were not informed that the kitchen was closing and the chance of dessert would disappear, even though we had asked for it. But the faux pas was sympathetically compensated for. We'll come back and give you more points.

Wir waren an einem lauen Sommerabend (19.07.2024) zu Viert als Wiederholungstäter vor Ort. 1x Rindssuppe mit Kräuterflädle für 7,50 geschmacklich wie von Großmuttern, allerdings viel zu heiß serviert - 4 von 5 … Rote Bete-Salat mit Krenschmand und Sesamkrokant für 13,00 geschmacklich und für‘s Auge top - 5 von 5 Tiroler Spinatknödel mit gebratenen Pilzen, kleiner bunter Salat sowie zerlassene Butter und Parmesan für 22,00 wie zuvor - 5 von 5 Sehr positiv, 2 Karaffen Leitungswasser kostenfrei - 5 von 5 Rosenheimer Flötzinger und Chardonnay von der Mosel wohl temperiert kredenzt und geschmacklich hervorragend - 5 von 5 Unterirdisch dagegen 2x der Pfifferlingsrahm mit Semmelknödel, Salat für 21,50 - 1 von 5 für‘s Gericht und 0 von 5 für‘s Personal - die Semmelknödel waren völlig verkocht und von der Konsistenz eher Püree ähnlich sowie geschmacklich auch keine Offenbarung, der Pfifferlingsrahm war geschmacklich äußerst fad und mehr Mineral als gewohnt - das war nix … Nebenbei - wegen der vorangegangenen Wartezeit … gestatteten wir uns weiterzuessen, nicht retour gehen zu lassen, ändert auch nichts an der Qualitätsaussage … Als wir dann beim Abräumen von der jungen weiblichen Bedienung die übliche Frage … gestellt bekamen, antwortete mein Gegenüber einleitend mit „naja“ und dies war dann für diese Serviceoffenbarung wohl schon zu unerwartet und zu viel, reagierte ziemlich pampig (unter Semmelknödelniveau) was das denn heißen solle (man bedenke, daß man nicht mal ausreden konnte …), echauffiert sich regelrecht über unser unangemessenes Gastverhalten … Die weitere „Konversation“ war für uns äußerst befremdlich, da wir uns ob unserer Einwände auch noch als Schuldige fühlen sollten … Da ist in der Erziehung und/oder der Ausbildung der jungen Dame unseres Erachtens grundlegendes versäumt worden … - vielleicht mal über einen Jobwechsel nachdenken … Positiv dagegen der junge Mann im Service, welcher uns sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient hat - ein sehr fahler Beigeschmack hat uns dennoch aus dem Abend hinaus begleitet …

Four of us were there as repeat offenders on yesterday's warm summer evening (July 19th, 2024). 1x beef soup with herb pancakes for 7.50, tastes like grandmothers, but served way too hot - 4 out of 5... Beetroot salad with horseradish sour cream and sesame brittle for 13.00 tastes great and is great for the eye - 5 out of 5 Tyrolean spinach dumplings with fried mushrooms, small colorful salad as well as melted butter and parmesan for 22.00 as before - 5 out of 5 Very positive, 2 carafes of tap water free of charge - 5 out of 5 Rosenheimer Flötzinger and Chardonnay from the Moselle are served at a good temperature and taste excellent - 5 out of 5 Underground, on the other hand, 2x the chanterelle cream with bread dumplings and salad for 21.50 - 1 out of 5 for the dish and 0 out of 5 for the staff - the bread dumplings were completely overcooked and the consistency was more like puree and the taste was also no revelation, the chanterelle cream was extremely bland in taste and more mineral than usual - that was nothing … By the way - because of the previous waiting time... we allowed ourselves to continue eating, not letting it go back, which doesn't change the quality statement... When we were then asked the usual question... by the young female waitress while clearing up, my counterpart answered with "well" and this was probably too unexpected and too much for this service revelation, reacting quite mushy (below bread dumpling level) as to what that was was supposed to be called (remember that we couldn't even say an excuse...), he was really upset about our inappropriate behavior as a guest... The rest of the "conversation" was extremely strange for us, because we were made to feel guilty because of our objections... In our opinion, something fundamental was missed in the young lady's upbringing and/or training... - maybe think about changing jobs... On the other hand, the young man in service, who served us in a very friendly and courteous manner, was positive - but a very pale aftertaste still accompanied us out of the evening...

We were at Obermaier for a big birthday party. Where do I begin? Process and organization perfect. Nothing was missing at all. The service was very, very friendly and attentive. Everyone looked after us with loving devotion. It doesn't get any better. Regardless of whether it was glasses or plates, as soon as something was empty, it was taken care of quickly and with a smile on the face. The food was tasted perfectly. Here we cook with love and dedication. No matter whether it's simpler dishes like sausage salad or Obatzder, or something more elaborate like goulash, spinach dumplings, crusty roast. Everything was homemade and wonderfully delicious. Thanks to the whole team. It's nice that something like that exists. Please keep it up. A gastro colleague from Dresden :-*

Delicious Wiener Schnitzel, very good beer, extremely friendly and courteous staff

Rustic restaurant with home-style cuisine for an average of €25 per main course (dishes without meat €19, dishes with seasonal vegetables €29, the goulash with spaetzle pictured €25). 0.2 liter Aperol Spritz is available for €9. Just as many wines. If it is busy, the service takes longer. Service and audience interesting and friendly. 🙂

We had such a gorgeous evening here and absolutely loved the food, the atmosphere, and the team that made you feel so looked after! Would 100% return if ever in Berlin again.

Very nice little restaurant with a changing menu. The draft beers and wine selection are also recommended. For those who don't like drinking alcohol, we recommend homemade lemonade.

The food (Obatzter and Krustenbraten) was without a doubt a 5/5 and the service was also great (fast, friendly and attentive). The ambience still has some room for improvement (the big picture with the boats is inappropriate and the sound could be reduced a bit), but all in all it's still a 5/5!

Lovely restaurant, lovely staff. Food was fairly traditional stuff, although the vegetarian food worked very well: I hadn't had that experience with traditional German food. I recommend the spinach dumplings with mushrooms. Very nice to sit outside in the garden area too.

Schnitzel was unseasoned and soggy on the inside. Goulash was tough. There was a smell of grease everywhere. Every canteen can do it better. Never again!

Obermaier serves typical German food and, in warmer seasons, has a biergarten to enjoy the pleasant climate and sample the beer of the week. In winter, the room is a little dull and undecorated, but the food more than makes up for it. Whenever we go, we can't miss the schnitzel: for me, the best in Berlin, and even better with roast potatoes (bratkartoffel) instead of potato salad. I also love the goulash with spätzle, which comes with large cubes of meat and a dollop of cream. The prices are high, but between the delicious food and the kinder, more attentive service than the average in the city, I always think it's worth the visit.

Very authentic down to earth Austrian joint, the food was well prepared and fresh and they appear to have cracked the enigma of blistered breadcrumb coating for a schnitzel. Nice wine selection with completely acceptable pricing. A bit weird was the boss or owner (?) also servicing tables who appeared to be somewhat erratic in terms of her service level. Some patrons she obviously seemed to know or maybe they were frequent guests and they would receive special treatment in terms of extra starters, aperós or dishes that didn‘t happen to be on the menu… other guests she would almost ignore. It‘s completely to her discretion who she treats differently… my feeling just was it might be better for business to do it a little more discreetly. In any event, I can recommed Obermaier.

South German cuisine and drinks.

Not far from the Kotti is the Obermaier, a rustic restaurant with cuisine from Munich to Swabia to Austrian cuisine. The shop is small and - typically Kreuzberg - very rustically furnished; some people find it cozy, others find it rather spartan. The menu is small and the waiting time can be a little longer when it's full, but everything is fresh. The meat is consistently organic and regional, the preparation is thorough, and you can taste it whether in the broth with toppings, the crusty roast or even the cream for dessert. The price range is quite high for Berlin standards; drinks for two don't cost less than 60 euros. Cards are accepted, but you don't like Amex :-) Gladly again.

Super sweet service!!!! Thanks to the lovely team. Unfortunately, the lovely team, who are really great, can't help it that the price/performance ratio is simply not right!!! On the contrary - they are the only ones who keep the shop!!! The food is ok. But definitely overpriced!! So do the wine prices. In this small Kreuzberg neighborhood, this culture of “overpricing” seems to be proving its worth. Because a lot of things are or are often clouded in other ways. And that seems to be working wonderfully, supported by the owners and unfortunately by the consumers. A pity. Because really other good restaurants will have a hard time with this. It was a wonderful evening only thanks to the lovely, wonderful Servive. Thanks to you dear ones. It's a shame that this tenant no longer thinks about it - in terms of the price/performance ratio. Freundliche Bedienung und sehr gute Küche bei angenehmen Ambiente!

Elsewhere, someone described Obermaier as a "find", and that's exactly what it is. A neighborhood restaurant serving well-prepared German food. Unpretentious, unadorned -- blink and you'll walk right past it -- if you are looking for "the real deal", this is it.

Freundlicher Service, gute Küche und abwechslungsreiche Karte, gute Auswahl an Getränken Wor sind gerne hier. Kann ab 19 Uhr etwas lauter und voller werden. Immer eine Empfelung wert.

Kleinod in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Kotti Kommt man auf dem „falschen“ Weg zum Obermeier, kann einem schon mulmig werden. So viel offensichtliches Elend. Ansonsten findet man im schönen Kreuzberg hier eine Einkehr, die so selten zu finden ist. Ein schönes Restaurant mit Balkon zu einem wunderbaren Garten. Durch Hecken geschützt, sitzt man hier wunderbar im grünen. Geduldet von den Bewohnern des Hauses. Auch selten. Die Karte ist klein und konzentriert sich auf Klassiker in Bio-Qualität. Einige Schwächen schmeckt man schon raus. Da ist noch Luft nach oben. Aber mit dem Service und der Location zusammen ist es dennoch ein Ort zu dem man sich aufmachen sollte. Ich werde wiederkommen. Danke für den schönen Abend.

An experience doesn't have to be perfect to get 5*. Here, the service is as slow as a drunk berlin marathon runner. And, at times as confused. But by the same token, the 2 who are running the show are genuinely charming and caring. Someone in the kitchen knows how to cook...again not perfectly (for the slightly overcooked gnocchi, and the late strudel that needed to be in the oven longer) but a consistent quality that means we would return. It's not especially cheap, but the refinements on the table hold the value. The street to get to the U1 from here is even more worrisome than Kotbusser Tor itself, so perhaps a less direct route, or just get the bus nearby after dark.

One of the best Austrian and Southern German/Bavarian restaurants in Berlin, with a great authentic food selection (especially things you don't find easily somewhere else in Berlin), but also a great and tasteful selection of the Austrian classics. Friendly staff, though authentic. And a great selection of wines combined with a nice atmosphere.

Nur zum "besten Bier" im Biergarten: es gibt hier Flötzinger Bräu aus Rosenheim. Danke für den guten Service und den ersten Abend vom City-Trip 😎

Excellent german food, nice collection of wines, great service and ambiance.

Essen war sehr lecker, Bedienung freundlich, gemütliches Ambiente. Leider scheint die Dunstabzugshaube zu fehlen oder defekt zu sein. Der komplette Gastraum war stark vernebelt und es roch stechend nach Angebratenem. Schon nach kurzer Zeit fingen einem die Augen an zu brennen. Ein längeres Sitzen im Gastraum war kaum möglich. Die Haare und Kleidung rochen nach Verlassen so stark, dass man nirgendwo anders mehr hin konnte. An den Fenstern sammelten sich Scharen von Mücken, teilweise lagen tote Mücken auf dem Fensterbrett. Dies alles schmälert den Gesamteindruck doch schon sehr. Schade, denn das Essen war wirklich in Ordnung.

War mega lecker, Ich hatte die Tiroler Spinatknödel die waren sehr lecker, meine Freunde hatte die Käsespätzle und waren auch sehr zufrieden, saßen Draußen im kleinen Garten was zu diesem Restaurant echt gut gepasst hat. Ein sehr schöner Abend, gerne wieder bzw. Wiederholungsvedarf

Leider hatte das Restaurant am Tag meines Besuchs einen Wasserschaden und wir wurden gebeten, es zu verlassen. Trotz der Umstände für das Restaurant wurde noch brav abkassiert, während wir mit einer großen Gruppe versuchten, ein anderes Restaurant zu finden. Etwas Kulanz in Form von einem Preisnachlass, oder auch nur einen Schnaps aufs Haus, hätte bei mir einen besseren Eindruck hinterlassen.

Excellent food, service and location

Seit 10 Jahren komme ich mit meiner Familie immer wieder gerne hier hin. Dieses mal (Samstag 29.07.23) hat die Bedienung es geschafft, dass wir dieses Restaurant nicht mehr betreten. Es geht um die Blonde Mitarbeiterin (Bob Schnitt und Brille), die doch wirklich meint, sie müsse die Kunden in jeder Hinsicht zurechtweisen. Unhöflich, augenrollend, genervte Bedienung und das von Anfang bis Ende. Wer die eigene Laune nicht bei sich halten kann, hat im Service nichts zu suchen und sollte umgehend den Job wechseln. Der nette Kollege, der uns dann später weiter bediente, konnte das Ruder noch so gerade umreißen aber in der Preisklasse geht so etwas gar nicht. Sie hat uns den ganzen Abend versaut... Schade, dass die Chefin an dem Abend nicht da war und diesen Vorfall mitbekommen hat.

Sehr leckeres Essen und sehr freundliche Bedienung! Eine echte Oase der Gastfreundlichkeit im sonst so verkrampft alternativ-hippen Kreuzberg!

Good food off of a limited menu, and nice atmosphere, especially in the garden. The staff was friendly but somewhat poorly coordinated, not knowing wines, not noticing guests, doing the bare minimum.

Schöner, fast schon verwunschener kleiner Biergarten wo man neben exklusiven Bier auch sehr gute Speisen verköstigen kann. Auch wenn die Servicemannschaft etwas verpeilt war (verständlich an einem Sonntagabend), ein ganz tolles Kleinod mit empfehlenswerter und preislich absolut angemessener Küche.

Place was fully booked out but there was a small table by the door they accommodated us with an extra chair and was perfect no bother. Staff were super friendly, excellent pints and the schnitzel dish was perfectly seasoned and paired with fresh side ingredients.

Eigentlich echt toll und lecker. Service ist auch super. Aber das alles von der Biergartenkarte kalt ist, hätte irgendwo geschrieben stehen sollen. Menge war auch recht übersichtlich. Aber, wie gesagt: echt lecker 😋

Wer in einem schönen Ambiente und sehr, sehr lecker Essen möchte sollte sich dieses Restaurant auf gar keinen Fall bei seinem Berlin Besuch entgehen lassen. Bus zum nächsten Mal.

Die Bedienung war super und insgesamt freundlich, das Ambiente stimmt hier auch. Leider bekam ich aber erst ein dreckiges Glas serviert, das nach meinem Hinweis zwar ausgetauscht wurde, mir aber kein neues Getränk angeboten wurde (von dem immerhin gut ein Viertel im dreckigen Glas verloren ging). Das Schnitzel war leider etwas blass (auf den Tellern anderer Gäste sahen die Schnitzel jedoch gut und goldbraun aus), die Zitrone dazu war auch eher sparsam portioniert. Bei dem Preis gibt es dafür nur drei Sterne

Ich war zum ersten Mal dort und mir hat es sehr gut gefallen im Obermaier. Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und die Atmosphäre im Restaurant gefällt mir auch.

Nicht nur , das der Service zuwünschen läßt ist auch die Preis -leistung schon höher,als in Deutschland.

The portion sizes are so bad. They charged 28 euros for schnitzel with asparagus but the portion is so small and unsatisfying. Waste of money. Do not recommend.

We had a lovely meal here in the restaurant's garden. Very nice, idyllic spot in the somewhat raucous Kreuzberg district. We had an old-fashioned delicious beef broth as a starter and a delectable veal schnitzel as a main course. Friendly service where you immediately feel at ease. Highly recommended if you are looking for good German cuisine.

Essen lecker, hatte jedoch bei der Hauptspeise "Beelitzer Spargel" eine recht kleine Portion von 4 kleinen Spargel mit ein paar wenigen kleinen Kartoffeln. Selbst die Sauce war knapp. Sonst aber gut und gemütliche Atmosphäre draußen.

Wir sind immer sehr zufrieden: das Essen ist köstlich. Die Chefin achtet auf die Qualität der Lebensmittel & das merkt man, vor allem, wenn man hier immer wieder isst. Man wird freundlich begrüßt & unaufdringlich aber aufmerksam bedient. Angenehme Atmosphäre, nicht zuletzt durch erfahrene&kluge Leitung. In Berlin sticht dieses Restaurant absolut positiv hervor. 100 Punkte!!

Super friendly service and good food. The starters were nice but not the biggest. The main course was good but not incredible. Eg the potato salad that comes with the schnitzel was not very impressive, compared to fried potatoes one often gets with such a meal. The schnitzel itself was very tasty though. The salmon dish my friend had was a little bland as well. The atmosphere is really lovely and the drinks were great. A little pricey on the whole.
