Mystery of Pizza in Frankfurt am Main

My wife and I tried Mystery of Pizza for the first time this weekend after finding the location on Google and seeing the reviews. We weren't disappointed; on the contrary - from my point of view, MoP offers the best pizza in the Frankfurt city area that I have had so far. The dough is great, the topping is very creative, the size is perfect. The option to eat gluten-free completes the experience. The restaurant is quite small, so reservations should be made in advance. Via WhatsApp :-)

We ordered 3 pizzas. All 3 were burned. You can't offer something like that, especially for such a high price. Three pizzas, a beer, a glass of wine and a coke €73. I wanted to pay €.75. It didn't work. I had to pay at least 10% more. I tried to pay with the card but it didn't work. I said I can pay in cash. I wanted to pay €75 but I had to pay €81. I gave €90 and the cashier gave me €5 back. Then I asked for another €4. Me and my friend couldn't sleep because of the pizza. I assume because of the black parts, although I removed as much as possible. The ingredients in my pizza weren't as many as other pizzas I've ordered. Very bad impression and the first time I got a black pizza...

Ate here for the first time today with our sons (1+4). Service advice was top, the boys felt very comfortable as we were welcomed very well. The pizzas were very, very tasty, we finally ate a really good pizza again 😋 we'll definitely be back.

has changed slightly. Edge like from Naples, so puffed up and burnt. Super! Topping, 50/50. Not all tried but many are great. Freestyle is missing so many ingredients. No salami or ham (??!) or gorgonzola. But if that's ok, that's just great. And no cider is not understandable either. Pizza Naples but it's Frankfurt and there is Bavarian beer. You could also offer some decent cider.

Creative pizzas, small menu (which is good). The dough was really really good, so tasty, fluffy, havent had a dough this good in a long time. Extensive filling, very tasty. Not cheap but worth it, i will be back when visiting Frankfurt again.

The Neapolitan pizza at this pizzeria was truly outstanding. The selection ranges from unusual varieties to the possibility of putting together a classic pizza according to your own taste. The small, cozy shop only has a few tables, so reservations are advisable. Service was OK, but could be a bit more proactive. Unfortunately it was very cold in the restaurant, so we kept our winter jackets on. Despite the minor flaws, the pizza is definitely worth a visit.

If you want to eat a standard pizza, this is the wrong place. There are pizzas here that you can't get anywhere else. It's a little more expensive but the pizzas are large and tasty.

Excellent, innovative pizza with a wide range of spices. The taste is harmonious and even the edge is a delight, mine was garnished with roasted sesame. We were told that many of the ingredients are purchased locally, which we like. The drinks were very tasty and the seating was super comfortable. Very refreshing. would love to come back.

This is such a lovely place! It's tiny and cozy with nice calm music. Even though it's a very small space, we were able to get a table for two on a Sunday evening. The lemonades were very tasty and our pizzas were amazing as well!

Visited this cozy place for dinner with friends, ordered the 'lusty' and 'delight' pizza which were really delicious. There are unique pizza toppings to choose from. Had a great experience!

The pizza tests nice,the only thing you shouldn't order here is the Aperol Spritz it's expensive and yet it's small and does not test nice,order other drinks,but the pizza was nice,the place is small so make sure you reserve before going there as it can be fully booked out

This pizzeria is on the pricier side, but in my opinion, it's definitely worth the cost. The atmosphere is especially suited for couples, but I visited with a few colleagues from work. The owner was very kind and even opened the restaurant 30 minutes earlier for us, which is something you can't always expect from every owner. The pizza was delicious, and the crust was particularly fluffy, making it easy to enjoy the whole pizza. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will definitely visit again in the future.

We were in town for the weekend and our friend recommended this place. Some of the best pizza we’ve had in years. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is overall well kept and clean & most importantly the pizza tasted amazing. Great dough, fresh ingredients and all of that reasonably priced. Gluten-free pizza was a weak performance. The pizza base reminded awfully lot of those gluten-free (Schär) ones that you can buy from a supermarket, the symmetric form, consistency and small size would match the description. Toppings were not bad though, and the beer list deserves a 👍🏻 for containing small brewery brews. Service was indifferent and slow.

Lovely small restaurant near the City centre in Sachsenhausen. I was there on a saturday and i was stunned especially the truffle Pizza was very delicious. Will come again

The varied pizzas taste great and are served in a pleasant atmosphere by the extremely friendly hostess. I have rarely eaten such delicious pizza in Germany and seen such unique versions of pizza. A visit is definitely worth it, even if you have to travel a long way!

Do not recommend this place, unless you want to wait more than 1 hour for fast food. In the 40 mins time of waiting for ONE pizza that we ordered, the restaurant served 2 pizzas to the table next to us, and 3 pizzas for take out. When asked when will the ONE pizza come, (while they are busy folding pizza boxes in the kitchen at 7pm…) we were told we need to wait for at least 20 mins more. Never in my life I’m expected to wait for 1 hour for A single pizza. I was told it was “slow” food ... Right, as if you are still fermenting the dough when I place the order? How about be nice enough to inform your customer what to expect? Pathetic and poor organization and operation. Never again.

We had one of the best pizzas in town at Mystery of Pizza! The small place is very cosy and the owners are so friendly. Pizzas have an amazing thin crust with great specials or classics that you can choose from the menu. Definitely recommend and our new go to pizza spot in Sachsenhausen 🍕😍

Pizza is good. Especially the dough. However, I feel silly. I wasn't allowed to pay for the take-away pizza with a card and then had to go quite far away to get money. When I came back, someone standing right next to me paid for his pizza with a card. Incredible. I then received a smug grin from the lady behind the counter. Not proper business conduct.

The best gluten free pizza I've ever eaten! And the remarkably warm, super friendly service gave us a great evening and made us feel very comfortable in the Mystery of Pizza :) When ordering the gluten-free pizza, I was asked whether it was because of celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, i.e. whether it was during the preparation Particular care should be taken to avoid cross-contamination. Unfortunately, I have never experienced this level of awareness and consideration for the needs of people with celiac disease from a gastronomic perspective in a single restaurant in Germany with gluten-free options and so far I only knew about gluten-free gastronomic offerings in much more progressive countries like this Australia or Spain. It's really great that Mystery of Pizza handles it this way and not only shines with the excellent quality of the food and also offers a very tasty, gluten-free beer, but also gives people with celiac disease the great feeling that is unfortunately still quite rare in Germany to be able to enjoy a visit to a restaurant in competent and safe hands. I will definitely come back and can highly recommend a visit to Mystery of Pizza to everyone, but especially to all my fellow Celiacs! ♥️

The pizzas were tasty but very expensive.

We had gluten-free pizza and beer. All delicious. The staff is very well educated regarding celiac disease and has all the necessary precautions. I felt very calm eating there. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the service is generally excellent. I will definitely come back to try all the gluten-free pizza species.

I can't really understand the hype surrounding the store. We went there because they also offer gluten-free pizza. The dough was absolutely bland and flavorless in both the normal and gluten-free versions. A little salt would have helped a lot. The pizza creations themselves look quite good on the menu, but in my opinion they didn't really taste good - unfortunately they were also very bland. In my opinion, there are simply much better pizzas in Frankfurt, for me it doesn't even make it into the top 10.

Ideas and reality far away. We had very high expectations due to the recessions, but unfortunately we were disappointed. We had to wait 50 minutes for 2 pizzas. The choice of toppings didn't impress us at all in terms of taste. The dough was drowned out by the excessive topping.

Above average but... needs improvement! The place looks good, small and welcoming, simple industrial style and above all very clean. The staff is courteous and quiet, excellent! The type of pizza (dough) is very close to the contemporary Italian one and is undoubtedly superior to most of the pizzas offered in the city and especially in Sachsenhausen. Unfortunately there are several points to improve which do not allow me to give a higher rating. Let me start by saying that the offer of pizzas (excluding those to be assembled) starts from 18 euros, trying to present itself as a premium and, above all, innovative product. - Cold, whole mozzarella/burrata in the center of the pizza. This is a detail that should not be underestimated as it greatly ruins the tasting experience. Approximately 20/25 minutes passed from the time of ordering to serving the pizza, more than enough time to allow the staff to remove the product from the fridge to let it reach room temperature. - The pizza with truffle pesto is excellent in idea but unfortunately less interesting in execution. Truffle is the protagonist flavor of the pizza and is only found in very few bites as it is not well distributed. Unfortunately, the rest of the pizza consumed without the truffle flavor loses a lot of character, resulting in it being slightly bland. - The dough needs more leavening and a correction to the hydration level, although the pizza was rolled out impeccably and with an excellent crust, inside it there were some spots not cooked well with a slightly sticky consistency which they make it excessively heavy to eat and, probably, also to digest. - The menu has good attention to detail but not enough. It would have been particularly nice to find information on the flour used, the leavening time and the composition of the dough. It is important that this review is read from the perspective of evaluating a product that aims for excellence, excellence that will certainly be achieved by making small corrections. The question is simple, if I pay for a premium product I expect impeccable attention to detail! It is also fair to mention the strong points of this pizza: - Amazing ingredients, fresh and abundant. Particularly noteworthy is the San Marzano DOP tomato sauce with its unique flavor, an ingredient that alone greatly enhances the pizza. The arugula, for example, was all crunchy and very fresh. - The pizzeria offers a very specific concept, with a selected offer and few ingredients that invite you to try their vision of pizza! In short, a pizzeria that puts the mainstream aside and carries forward its own philosophy, whether you like it or not. Lots of character and desire to assert oneself. - Excellent idea in offering exotic and partly New York Style toppings but from a gourmet perspective and respecting the modern idea of ​​Italian pizza. To conclude, a pizzeria worth trying, above average and trying to emerge by not fully achieving the objective of innovation and quality it aims for. I will return with great pleasure to see if there will be an increase in level. Promoted but with reservations!

Update: Since we have been going here for years, we have unfortunately noticed that the quality has declined the last few times. On the one hand, the menu was significantly reduced and our favorite pizzas were removed. Unfortunately the service is no longer friendly. The pizzas are very thin and therefore runny, not to be eaten with your hands. And the prices rise from time to time. Unfortunately, €18.90 for a standard pizza and €19.50 for the special pizza is just too much, as much as we loved this shop, but we won't be coming back for now. The pizzas are very unusually put together and so delicious. Nice combination of special ingredients. The restaurant is small but nice - when it is busy, it can unfortunately get a bit cramped and noisy.

They use the right and proper crust for the pizza. The pizza's flavor is inspired by Iranian cuisine and is very delicious. They are also very friendly.

Mystery of Pizza has one of the best pizzas in Frankfurt. The crust is a dream (crispy, light and airy, heavenly aromatic), the topping is in no way inferior. However, the floor could be a bit thicker. In addition, there are no run-of-the-mill pizzas here, but something different, but not too unusual either. Note to "Mystery of Pizza": For the “Shakshuka” pizza, the menu lists, among other things, “oriental grilled eggplant” as a topping. But none can be seen in the picture. We had the pizza on site and there was no eggplant there either. Either adapt the menu or top the pizza with eggplant ;-)

Best gluten-free pizza in Frankfurt. After five months of research I have found my favourite pizza place in Frankfurt. The restaurant is small (booking necessary) and cozy and the service is efficient and polite. The gluten free pizza is light and tasty and costs only one euro more than the regular one (a miracle in Frankfurt). My friends had normal pizzas and found them delicious. We will definitely be back!
