Tagliatelle with mushrooms in a cream sauce to go. For €13, it was a fairly small portion that simply tasted lame. It was absolutely nothing special and, unfortunately, you can make it a thousand times better yourself. The cream sauce was completely watery and tasted of nothing. It's a shame that food from restaurants these days is often mediocre to poor in quality and taste, and for quite a bit of money.

The food is very tasty. The pizzas are very well topped. The service is super friendly and, above all, attentive. Prices are in line with other pizzerias, perhaps slightly cheaper. When busy, the restaurant is quite loud and yet very warm.

I visited this place again today after about 30 years, and I have to say I was surprised because the pizza hasn't changed since then. To sum it up: Extremely good! Light, crispy, great toppings, quick service, friendly service, and no overpriced frills! Top quality at a top price! Highly recommended! Always happy to come back!

The pizza tasted good, but that's subjective, of course. However, the price-performance ratio is terrible. For a "large" pizza with a diameter of just 25 cm, you pay a whopping €12.50 – and that's for a simple salami and onion pizza.

We were very satisfied and received friendly service. Our child got his pizza earlier, as requested, because he was very hungry. Upon request, I was offered a gluten-free pizza, which was very tasty. My husband's pasta was also very tasty.

Never again!!! The pizza is very small and tasteless. That was the first and last time.

I definitely recommend this restaurant. It's been a culinary staple in Montabaur since my childhood. You can pick it up, as many do, or eat in in the beautiful setting. It has that typical Italian flair, just as you'd expect. We love the salad with the house dressing, but the other dishes are also excellent. Always worth a visit. Reservations are recommended.

A long-established pizzeria with rustic decor. Some tables are set apart from each other, making it feel a bit more private. No garden/outdoor area. There were three (?) small tables in front of the entrance, in the pedestrian area, but they were folded up. We were able to spontaneously eat Italian food without making an appointment. We received a friendly welcome, friendly and courteous service, and a friendly goodbye. The food, pizza and an appetizer menu, was beautifully presented and delicious. The prices were reasonable, not too expensive. Parking is available nearby, at least from 5 p.m. onwards. Free from 5/6 p.m. onwards. We would be happy to come back.

I went back there after 30 years and it felt like I was in a time capsule 😊 everything is still the same as before and the food still tastes delicious!

We were so disappointed with the value for money today!!!!! The large pizza with a diameter of 24.5 cm for €12.00 is an absolute disgrace!!!!! An Italian salad is advertised as containing cucumbers and onions, and there was exactly one slice of cucumber and one ring of onion in my salad, and that too for the hefty price of €12.00. What has happened to the good old Pizzeria Muzzalupo?

I used to go there often, and it was always great. After about 10 years, I was very disappointed this time. The onion soup came in a dessert bowl; it was tiny and more like a soup-based drink and toast topped with cheese. The Italian spaghetti carbonara was more like pasta with scrambled eggs and bacon. There was no taste of the cheese. It's a shame. The waitress seemed completely indifferent to my friendly criticism.

We celebrated at this venue, and our experience was unforgettable. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. The prices are totally reasonable.

Disgusting. Never again. Unfortunately, I didn't look at the reviews until the food I ordered was served. It started with the unfriendly service, who didn't speak good German. But when the food arrived, we were shocked at how carelessly it was prepared. The pizza tonno had hugely chopped onions and the edges were completely charred. Even though we ordered a salad (€11.00) without ham, there were still many pieces of ham in the salad, as if the chef had realized too late that it was supposed to be without ham and removed it afterwards. Then came the spaghetti Napoli for €9.00 with watery sauce, which was swimming in the most watery and cheapest tomato sauce I've ever seen. The taste was truly artificial. I think it's a disgrace that they offer their guests something like that. We feel ripped off. Never again. Even one star is too much.

Impudence! We have been customers for almost 40 years and this is definitely the LAST time we have been massively disappointed: 1) Prices increased again by 10% 2) At the same time, the large pizza has disappeared, or the medium one is simply sold as a large one with an additional 10%! 3) Selling 24.5cm in diameter as a large pizza is an outrage 4) The taste has (subjectively) gotten worse. 5) The ambience and service are unchanged, but no longer up to date. Old, squeaky. Describing furniture from the 80s as “rustic” is now underground. In summary, we can only advise everyone to find another pizzeria. It's a shame, but definitely no longer recommended!

Unfortunately not recommended. The pasta was disappointing in taste and the mushrooms were absolutely inedible - either of poor quality or poorly prepared. The lack of hygiene was particularly negative: the table was dirty and didn't seem well-kept. The only bright spot was the pizza, which was quite good in comparison. Overall, not a place I would visit again.

Spaghetti frutti di Mare alla Carbonara, would not recommend. Otherwise everything is delicious, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

My husband and I have been going there since we were young... We have many fond memories of this place, including our civil wedding reception with the family there. The pizza has always been of the same, excellent quality since our youth, and we're happy to make the long drive to enjoy our favorite pizza there...

The food was delicious, but the hustle and bustle and noise were very annoying. At the next table the dishes were re-set by throwing the cutlery onto the table. The washed cutlery was also slammed into the container at the counter so that it rattled! No trace of coziness and pleasant atmosphere! We were happy when we left and could escape the stress. Won't go there anymore.

Unfortunately, there are only a few Italians like us left. Great service despite the fully occupied dining room. Whether pasta or pizza there was nothing to complain about. Thank you very much, we'll be happy to come back

An older, cozy restaurant with great food. We had antipasti, bolognese, and pizza. A really successful meal.

We showed up at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening with a group of 20 people at the request of the restaurant. The restaurant was still quite full, but we got our reserved table in a quiet side room with a few other guests. We can order our food around 6:15 p.m. I ordered an appetizer and a pizza from the daily menu without any special requests. When the starters came after about 30 minutes, some were wrong and mine didn't come at all. About 10 minutes later my starter arrived, but also wrong. I told the waiter that it was the wrong starter and that I would eat it too; but I asked the waiter to check whether it wasn't intended for someone else, I didn't want to eat anything away from anyone. The waiter left with the starter and I didn't get any. Another 30 minutes later, all the main courses arrived except my house-style pizza (Pizza Muzzaluppo). After my starter had already been canceled, after 10 more minutes I asked a waitress about my pizza. She assured me that it was in the works and would be coming soon. I impatiently asked for my pizza at around 7:20 p.m. This finally came after almost all the other guests had finished their main course around 7:45 p.m. I ordered at 6:15 p.m. Conclusion: the staff, we were served by 3 or 4 different people, was completely overwhelmed. And the enjoyment of eating with my friends was ruined and so was my evening mood. The older woman who took our order had written everything down with the corresponding number of the dish on the menu. Everything was simply very unpleasant, after all, at my request, the waitress canceled my ordered starter without comment. My payment was also made without comment. Not a word of regret or even an apology!

Still as good as it was 20 years ago. The service is friendly and quick. Every now and then, a little too fast. You don't really have much time to choose the food. Every 2 minutes someone from the service stands in front of you with a block drawn :-) Patience, dear ones. The ambience could be freshened up a bit. But we always like to come!!!

Unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be😓😓 I raved to friends about how great Muzzalupo is and I often did it with my parents as a small child been there. I would have left that alone🤣🤣 That was the worst rump steak I've eaten in my entire life. The cooking point was perfect, you can't say anything against it. But the whole steak was laced with thick tendons. You had to exert a lot of force on the knife to even get it cut. However, the chewing experience and the taste were reminiscent of chewing gum that was two weeks old. Now I know why the rump steak only cost 26 euros. Because it doesn't have good quality. Then it's better to take 5-8 euros more and offer reasonable quality. But I also have to give praise. The French fries were world class. The quality is right. If the quality of the steak were adjusted to that of the fries, the world would be right again. The food of my friends and my husband was okay, but not what it used to be. So all in all, unfortunately not recommended at the moment, unless you're just hungry for fries with mayo🤣🤣🤣🤣

There for 20 years now. I used to eat the brilliant Prosciutto pizza after school and then again and again on site. Looking back and from today's perspective: The service felt a little warmer. On the other hand, I appreciate the Italian style. Professional and clear lines. Food...you just have to like this kind of pizza (I can only judge pizza and salad). I myself am an absolute fan of l'Osteria. So rather large, thin pizzas. Why I'm writing this review now: Especially after a visit to l'osteria, for example, you notice that the ravages of time are eating away, especially when it comes to inventory. It is very rustic and pretty “rocky” in detail. There are sooo beautiful concepts and it would be so great if the Muzzalupo team dared to invest again. These separate table areas have their charm, but maybe it could be a little more modern and brighter, just take a look at the competition in cities... Therefore ambience 2 stars as a criticism. But overall a very good restaurant

Food and service were good as always. The ambience is still the same even after 48 years. We've been eating at Muzzalupo for so long.

Very good family-run Italian restaurant. The food is very good, the service is nice. I think it's particularly worth mentioning that the prices have remained very fair! Unfortunately, many have jumped on the inflation bandwagon. But not this place 👌. We always enjoy coming here.

It was very tasty. Staff very accommodating. Dessert needs improvement. Could be presented a little nicer and made with real cream instead of spray cream. The table was a bit cramped for 5 people, but everything else was fine.

All food we had was great - except for the pizza which was really, really bad. Since this restaurant claims to be a pizza parlor, we can’t give more than 3 stars.

You should always start with the positive... I had a salad that was delicious. The house dressing was great. But then it stops. For a salad that costs as much as a main course, I would expect a piece of bread. This had to be ordered separately. The dessert, described as chocolate mousse, came semi-frozen. Either the description is wrong or it was simply taken out of the chest too late. Complete finished product. Unfortunately this had nothing to do with delicious Italian desserts. The service was only there initially to pick up the dishes and drinks and was not seen again afterwards. Unfortunately it doesn't work at all. Some of the staff were busy watching Italian television on a tablet in the half-open kitchen, which was so loud that it annoyed us as guests. The ambience is in urgent need of renovation. For me it has nothing to do with rustic. All in all: I won't come back again and I don't understand the good reviews here on Google.

Really in the mood for a good lunch on a roadtrip from Switzerland to the Netherlands we were lucky to chance upon Ristorante Muzzalupo in Montabaur. The kids and my wife had really excellent pizza’s (no problem to combine two flavors on one pizza for the kids) and I had spaghetti gamberetti in a saffron white wine sauce. Absolutely wonderful. We finished the meal with home made tiramisu and thick Italian espresso. Very helpful and friendly service makes this a wonderful authentic Italian experience in this family run restaurant.

Hello, it's been a long time since I've eaten there again. This house is my grandfather's, where Franco Muzzalupo used to start. That was over 45 years ago. I had my tortellini al forno there every day with lots of cheese and sauce and it was always great. Things haven't been the same since the change. Tortellini no longer tastes good, so I only order from Santino in Boden. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Franco or his wife were always there. We were sitting in the former ice cream parlor, had ordered 2 starters and after 30 minutes only one came, the second one 15 minutes later. The main course came 1.5 hours after ordering, but not as I had ordered. Unfortunately, I no longer feel taken seriously in the restaurant and would no longer order or eat there if something serious didn't change there. Kind regards, Frank Büthe

Until now we thought that the negative reviews were exaggerated, but this was the last time for us today that we would order something here again, so it can happen that you miscalculate and instead of paying the price for a small pizza and Having to pay the price of a large pizza and salad for a small salad can happen once, but now for the second time in a few weeks, it seems to me that there is a system behind it. It can't be that something like this happens again and then you have to discuss your money and then the behavior is not so nice, as if this matter was the customer's fault. We don't need anything like today and that's it for Muzzalupo, which used to be well run.

The employees are all very, very friendly but the supposedly large pizza is more of a small pizza, which I think is a shame because the price-performance ratio is definitely no longer right. How is a small pizza supposed to look like a coffee saucer plate as big?! I had the pizza to go. In the restaurant you could see much larger pizzas on the plates and I also ordered large ones (see photo).

We had two greasy pizzas and a medium steak that was just bloody. The chocolate souffle was okay, the tiramisu was just a mountain of sour cream with cocoa powder. Tasty is different. Going somewhere else soon.

Immer super leckere gleichbleibende Qualität, seit Jahrzehnten, schade, daß man nicht draußen sitzen kann im Sommer, deshalb 1 Punkt Abzug, aber die Lasagne und der Salat Calabrese oder die hausgemachten Nudeln mit Scampi und Spargel..immer ein Genuss und die Preise stimmen.

Heute nach dem Outlet Besuch dort eingekehrt. Wurden sehr nett empfangen und bedient! Pizza war sehr lecker, Preis Leistung passt absolut! Auch das hausgemachte Tiramisu war Klasse, italienische Handwerkskunst. Echt top!

In der Pizzaria Muzzalupo fühlt man sich, nicht nur als Stammgast, Zuhause. Das Essen, für uns der Salat und die Pizza, sind gleichbleibend gut. Wir gehen gerne mit richtigem Appetit dahin.

Das Ristorante Muzzalupo liegt etwas abseits der Fußgängerzone in einer Nebenstraße. Die Einrichtung ist eher klassisch als modern. Geführt von Italienern kommt das mediterrane Gefühl bereits bei der Begrüßung. Wir hatten einen trocken Rosé, als Vorspeise die typische Tomatensuppe und selbstgemachte Pasta als Hauptgang. Schon die Vorspeise hat uns überzeugt, das richtige Restaurant gewählt zu haben. Die Pasta im Anschluss war ein Träum; perfekt al dente, nicht in Soße ertränkt aber dennoch geschmacksintensiv und liebevoll auf dem Teller arrangiert. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Lediglich die hausbackene Einrichtung trübt etwas den Charme des Restaurants.

Eine Institution im Westerwald. Seit vielen Generationen beliebt und geliebt. Danke, dass Ihr die Inneneinrichtung nicht verändert habt. Ich verbinde damit schöne Erinnerungen und auch mittlerweile ein Stück Heimat. Vermutlich geht es nicht nur mir so. Essen und Service war, wie stets, sehr gut. War eine gute Idee, hier wieder hinzukommen. Bis bald mal wieder. Ciao.

Gemütliche Sitzecken. Die Qualität des Essens schwankt und die Wartezeiten sind relativ lang (40 Minuten). Die Lasagne besteht nur aus einer Nudelschicht und massig Käse. Schade. Das Bruschetta ist lecker, aber das Brot dabei oft so lange geröstet, dass es nicht mehr zu schneiden ist. Am meisten jedoch stört, dass das Servicepersonal das Lächeln für seine Gäste verloren hat. Der Umgang wirkt emotionslos und abfertigend. Da fühlt man sich als Gast nicht wohl. Schade

Achtung.....Missachtung aller gastronomischen Grundregeln. Seit über 40 Jahren die Treue gehalten. Seit die Senior Chefs nicht mehr mitwirken geht es steil bergab. Einen Tisch im Restaurant bestellt und in den lieblos dekorierten Nebenraum gesetzt. Der Salat mit Joghurtdressing nicht gewürzt. Wir haben auf die Missstände hingewiesen....keine Entschuldigung....man hat uns sogar, obwohl bestellt, den Schnaps verweigert....peinlich....Massenabfertigung ohne Serviceniveau....man ist auf den einzelnen, zufriedenen Gast nicht mehr angewiesen....das hätte es früher nie gegeben

Wir kennen Muzzalupo schon seit Ewigkeiten. Im Grunde ist man mit dieser Pizzeria groß geworden. Old fashioned innen- aber das mögen die Besucher. Das Essen ist wie immer. Es gibt keine großen Abweichungen in den Gerichten und in der Qualität. Was sich jedoch seit Übergabe des Restaurants an die neuen Inhaber deutlich geändert hat, ist der Service. Die Dame, die heute Abend für unseren Tisch zuständig war, war alles andere als freundlich. Kommunikation knapp und unfreundlich. Das geht deutlich besser. Auch wenn der Laden immer gut besucht ist- es ist kein Grund, sich gegenüber den Gästen muffelig zu verhalten. Die Herzlichkeit und Freundlichkeit der früheren Besitzer war ein Grund für jahrzehntelange Kundentreue. Mit einem solchen Verhalten wie heute Abend erlebt.... schwierig. Die nächsten Besuche im Muzzalupo werden daher warten müssen.

Oldschool in gut. Hatten zwei Pizza und zwei alkoholfreie Weizenbier. Die Pizza war ausreichend groß und gut belegt. Es hat uns gut gefallen und wir kommen wieder 😊

Etwas in die Jahre gekommene Einrichtung, doch daran wollen wir uns nicht groß stören. Denn das Essen ist super lecker sowie auch zügig am Platz. Docj genau selbiger dürfte ein wenig großzügiger gestaltet sein, so ist es etwas muckelig. Service ist auch in Ordnung, sehr aufmerksam.
