A blatant rip-off in parts, albeit with good intentions. (It still affects the atmosphere, though.)

The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet offers unbeatable value for money. I go at least once a week and enjoy several rounds of sushi and various side dishes with my chicken breast. The buffet is constantly replenished, the restaurant is very well organized, and the service staff is friendly and efficient. There can sometimes be a short wait during peak times, especially if you arrive in a larger group. The biggest problem is that I occasionally overfill my plate.

I've been visiting this restaurant for years. It's clearly the best all-you-can-eat restaurant in Hamburg and, in my experience, the best in Germany. Starting with the service: The staff makes you feel 'at home,' and in many cases, 'better than home!' As an example, I'll cite Tsukuo's friendliness and efficiency: As soon as I arrive at Mr. Cherng's, Tsukuo is waiting for me with my preferred table ready. I see this customer service everywhere in the entire staff. The dishes are obviously prepared with great dedication and delicate flavor: the Peking soup, the boiled rice, the many sushi variations, and the delicious main courses: everything tastes simply delicious. I congratulate Tsukuo for mastering that special something to make a customer feel 'at home.' And I congratulate Mr. Cherng's staff and management for all of them creating a culinary miracle. The worst treatment I received in Hamburg in the last two years. We hadn't even sat down yet, and I wanted to drink water (my medicines cause severe dehydration) and the waitress said "no drinks from outside" so I put it back in my bag, turned to my friend and said "oh i wish i had drunk my water when we were outside" and the waitress, who was already scowling at us said "well you are in germany now"??? WHAT?? I didn't even say anything?? She kept staring at me with a scowl the whole time we were there, both when i sat and when i went to grab food. I ordered tap water, since i needed it asap, and it was given to me in 30+ minutes. By then i was already not feeling well. Adding the facial expression pointed at me, my night was hell. And I had been so excited to try the place out... The food was just ok considering the price, but no way worth it with the treatment i got, and the physical discomfort i was in. I will never go there again, and i recommend you to do the same. P.S: this was a month ago. I didn't post a review instantly because i wanted to calm down.

Very crowded, takes forever, with so little choice and too many people. Other AYCEs have at least three times as many dishes for the same price. The only ready-made dishes available were fried noodles, baked chicken, chicken wings, tom kha gai, and battered calamari. I wouldn't recommend the sushi, the rice was much too firm, a homogenous mass, and the fish wasn't fresh. The freshly fried dishes were delicious, especially the sauce! But the scampi were unfortunately also bad. And that was on a dinner buffet for €25! Very disappointed!

The food was the worst I've had in years. Cold, dry, and some of it was unidentifiable because there were no labels. It was so incredibly crowded at the buffet that you lost your appetite. Unfortunately, many familiar dishes were missing. The sushi was alright. And that was about it.

We were a group of four. Three of us had the all-you-can-eat option, and one was à la carte. The three of us had the buffet, which included sushi (a good selection, delicious and fresh), "normal" good Chinese dishes (appetizers and desserts), and also a fresh-cooking buffet (choose your meat/fish dishes with many different sauces, then have them freshly cooked in the kitchen and brought to your table). Everything was really delicious, and we were more than full. 😊 My daughter had à la carte, which was also tasty, but not worth it. For €5 more, she certainly would have tried a few more things and had dessert. All in all, highly recommended. Enjoy your meal! 👍 We were back in December 2023, and it was possibly even tastier. Because of the Christmas market in the area, it was even packed on Tuesday evening. Update: 10:25: Still so delicious. Ate there on two evenings while visiting Hamburg—really delicious.

We came here for the first time and we ordered sushi sets (we didn't do AYCE). We enjoyed our food which is value for money and not too expensive.

It looks much smaller from the outside than it actually is inside. We weren't that hungry, so we chose a dish from the menu and opted against the all-you-can-eat buffet. The portions were large and absolutely sufficient. The staff was super friendly. The food arrived quickly. The prices were perfectly reasonable.

(Updated review). We celebrated Shabbat today and decided to go to Mr. Cherng. Well, they had shrimp this time, so the only downside we had in the past didn't happen again. Although we went in the evening, maybe they didn't serve it during the day. Overall, I liked everything, both the food and the staff. My family did too.

The buffet was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly. The restrooms were clean. We arrived at noon on a weekday, so we got to the buffet much faster. Those who arrived after us had to wait longer. If you're planning to eat there with a large group, you might want to reserve a table in advance.

You walk in, are greeted very warmly, usually get a very well-located table, and then it all begins. Everything tastes excellent, is freshly prepared, you feel really comfortable there and leave satisfied.

We've been regulars at Mr. Cherng for over 10 years now, and it's always a pleasure! The staff is super friendly and always on top of everything! The selection is truly unbeatable for the price. At other places, you'd pay significantly more for far less choice and taste. As soon as you walk in and are shown to your table, you're immediately asked what you'd like to drink. When you return to your table from the buffet 2-3 minutes later, cold drinks are already waiting for you. Even with larger groups, everything runs smoothly and at an incredible pace! I highly recommend this restaurant!

The evening buffet with teppanyaki grill was somewhat disappointing. There was only a small selection of fresh ingredients, and salmon was missing, even though it's essential for teppanyaki. The buffet selection was also modest, as was the service. What was positive was the selection of sauces for the grill and the selection of sushi. In my opinion, the evening buffet isn't worth it; perhaps the lunch buffet would have offered better value for money, depending on the sushi selection.

Unfortunately, the noise level from the guests isn't Asian-style quiet. The level was extremely loud. But the buffet was first-class. The staff were calm, flexible, and competent. Prices are reasonable. We were very satisfied with the meal and would gladly go back. Some groups, no, some people, however, should turn down their volume! It also helps with healthy digestion. Overall, the food was okay. The food selection was a bit limited, for example, there was only one type of soup: hot and sour. At least another soup option should have been offered. There was a lot of sushi, but I didn't find it very good. The rice was strangely textured, a bit too sticky, and the rice was too tightly packed, making it a bit unappetizing. The Mongolian barbecue was well-cooked, and there were a variety of sauces. The service was generally good, and Mandarin was understandable. The prices were quite reasonable, especially for a high-end European restaurant. If the sushi quality could be improved, I'd give it four stars.

On weekdays, from 12:00 to 15:00, you are free to eat as much as you want for 14 Euros, but as a rule, you don't leave anything on your plate. If you do leave something on your plate, they add 1 Euro per item to your price. It's a great app. I love it. It prevents waste and allows you to get as much as you can eat on your plate. We came as a group of four and paid 56 Euros. It was impressive. I recommend you definitely stop by and taste the delicious flavors of Asian cuisine here.

We were spontaneously looking for an Asian buffet for lunch. For €14, you can have an all-you-can-eat lunch here. The staff were all very friendly. The buffet was constantly being restocked. The dishes were all really good, especially the sushi, which was really good for an AYCE buffet…not just basic makis.

We've enjoyed coming here for many years because of the delicious sushi and the attentive staff. It's just not nice that someone keeps trying to touch the fish in the pool. Yesterday, a few children tried to catch the fish there. Perhaps it would be better not to keep fish in that area, which isn't visible to the staff. Otherwise, we wish the Mr. Cherng team continued success!

A €25 dinner buffet that doesn't refill after 9 p.m. (closing time is 10 p.m.) is unacceptable! Much(!) less selection than the lunch buffet. On top of that, the waiter at the entrance was incredibly rude and rude! Only the young waitress was pleasant. We won't be coming here again!

I have to honestly say, Mr. Cherng is my favorite place for sushi and other dishes. It's always fresh, always good, and always delicious! I've always been there with my mother and sister, who also speak highly of Mr. Cherng. Whenever we go to Hamburg together, sushi is on their to-do list. Enjoy!

We were there four days in a row (at lunch) because it was simply delicious. The selection was huge and the buffet was clean and tidy. Food was always replenished quickly. The staff (whether the manager or the waiter) at the entrance were extremely rude and disrespectful. When I politely asked for a complaint book, I was insulted and practically sent away. Although the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet now costs €14.00 (€6.90 when it opened), it's still well worth a visit. However, you should arrive early to avoid waiting for a table and the lines at the buffet. I deducted one star because I could barely hear myself during an evening visit, the acoustics are so poor when the place is full. However, some partition walls have since been installed in the dining room, which may solve this problem.

Mr. Cherng is an exceptional spot perfect for any occasion – be it a family gathering, a friends' get-together, or even a date night mukbang. I've enjoyed it twice recently, once for a birthday lunch and again the following week with a friend. The fish was very average and the rice very dry. The fried foods were way too greasy and almost entirely made of fried batter (not enough toppings). Very little choice. The barbecue stand was mediocre. The meat was dry and the sauce (curry) was too salty and in too large a quantity. As for the desserts, they are of poor quality and with a very limited selection. The best products were unfortunately those that were not made by the restaurant, namely the fruits. For lunch (14€) it is acceptable, but dinner (25€) is not worth it at all. The value for money is not there at all.

I love the crispy duck at this place. Sometimes it's on the buffet, but if it's not, I order it à la carte. All the servers are very friendly, and no matter how busy it is, they'll find a second one for you. It gets pretty busy, and sometimes there's a line, but the place is large, so it's always busy. The food is fresh, it's always busy, and although the buffet seems small, it's sufficient. The lunchtime buffet from Monday to Friday is 15 euros (it also includes ice cream here), and the weekend buffet is 25 euros (excluding drinks). They also have à la carte dishes at a lower price at lunchtime if you don't want a buffet. There's a surcharge if you leave food at El Plato, so people don't waste food. The place is very central, two blocks from Europa Passage, one block from the church, right in the center. You pay at the register. I find it quite convenient if you want to eat very well downtown. Highly recommended.

The best restaurant with many different types of sushi 🍣. The photo shows my favorites, which unfortunately are only featured once. They're only available until about 1:00 PM, then they're gone. I hope they make them more often! Overall, I'm very happy with this restaurant choice.

The selection is satisfactory; however, the price is disproportionate to the service offered. Parking is also poor. Alternatives at other locations proved to be more affordable and of higher quality, with much better parking. Furthermore, the staff's performance was unsatisfactory.
