Great burgers, amazing currywurst (spice level selectable in seven stages). Modern atmosphere and friendly staff. Unfortunately, one star has to be deducted for the less-than-ideal condition of the men's restroom.

All the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent, and the cocktail prices were very reasonable. All in all, a lovely evening and highly recommended.

The service was nice and friendly, and the food was good. Perhaps it could have been a bit better for the price. But that's always a matter of personal taste.

The location is perfect, a bit hidden away, but that also means it's not too crowded. Regarding the friendliness of the service: We were seated, but the tables were rather unsuitable for our group size. The server was very difficult to understand due to the noise level, and consequently, she didn't understand us well. When we asked for coffee instead of lunch, she seemed rather offended that we hadn't ordered food. Regarding the quality: all the items were quite small. The latte macchiato was rather tasteless and very, very hot. The chai latte was very, very sweet and rather bland. The café au lait tasted like it came from a fully automatic coffee machine instead of an espresso machine. The grey burgundy was really good, I can't complain about that. Regarding the environment… unfortunately, a cardboard heat shield is attached to every hot drink glass, presumably for advertising purposes if someone takes a picture of it.

We spontaneously arrived at 10:30 am today and were immediately given a table upstairs. The breakfast selection is varied and absolutely delicious. We highly recommend it!

Rude unprofessinal service, can’t understand English

We were there for breakfast and ordered various dishes as a group. The breads were great, as was the bowl. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was just so-so. Although it was surprisingly empty for a weekend day, we were seated at the side (like others) where the aisle to the kitchen runs. So, naturally, there was a lot of activity right at our table. Prices, especially for the food, were quite high.

The food is not recommended; it's tasteless, the meat is tough, and some of the ready-made dishes are unappetizing. It's presented without any care, especially considering the price. We were disappointed twice, so that was the last time we'll be at Max. It's okay for a cocktail, but I wouldn't recommend eating there.

Best breakfast in Dresden, opens at 8:00 am. We also like to meet there in the evenings because it's open late and the food is very good. Plus, the best beer selection in Dresden. Radeberger, Stauder, Tegernseer Hell on tap – truly something special.

Disappointing Breakfast – Lack of Attention to Detail Unfortunately, breakfast at Max Altstadt was a bitter disappointment. The fruit salad tasted bitter, the rolls and scrambled eggs seemed carelessly prepared and were bland. The espresso was more reminiscent of vending machine coffee than freshly brewed coffee. The overall ambiance was quite run-down – including table decorations that only reinforced the impression of neglect. Only the jam was acceptable. If breakfast is at least part of their main business, they urgently need to improve the quality and presentation.

We were here today with 2 small children for lunch and the service was super child-friendly, they were very kind and attentive and the food was a really large portion for all of us and very tasty.

I was disappointed to be sold what was essentially a fried bratwurst as currywurst. I've only ever seen that in western Germany, but I wasn't expecting it here in Dresden. I thought I was getting a bratwurst with the appropriate toppings. And: the sausage tasted very bland. The sauce, on the other hand, was quite tasty. I only ordered from the food stand. I can't comment on the restaurant upstairs.

The smash burger wasn't great, and the price wasn't justified by the quality either. We sometimes had to wait 30-40 minutes to order drinks. After ordering, we then waited another 30-45 minutes to get the drink. Overall, not very satisfactory.

We had a cozy lunch here with our Labrador! The food was reasonably priced! Very friendly service. Dogs 🐕 welcome!

Well, nothing special... the staff was nice, but the food wasn't great. We both had a Smashburger, and it was anything but a Smashburger. It was basically just a regular burger, and the meat tasted kind of old. And for that price, it was cheeky. My friend had a double Smashburger for €23.50, and I had a regular one, which also cost almost €20.

Excellent currywurst. We had a three-piece with two different sauces and can't complain: delicious sausage, delicious sauce, a generous portion of fries with mayonnaise, and a sweet drink. The staff are very pleasant and the prices are exceptionally reasonable: I haven't experienced anything like it in a long time. 😅 I highly recommend it.

The service is good. The waiters are kind. The food is just okay. The waffle was tasteless and we had to ask the kitchen to re-do the fried egss since they first came burned. The coffee is really great.

A delicious breakfast and friendly service made us feel at home. After a refreshing breakfast, it's a 5-minute walk to tourist highlights like the Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House, and the Hofkirche (Court Church).

A very friendly red-haired waitress who provided excellent service and is a true sales talent. She definitely deserves a promotion due to her professional and friendly manner – you won't find another employee as excellent as her twice. Otherwise, great food and a very relaxed atmosphere, always worth a visit. We'd definitely be happy to come back!

We came here for breakfast and were truly impressed. Everything seemed freshly prepared, lovingly presented, and tasted delicious. The scrambled eggs were particularly fluffy and seasoned with fresh herbs, along with crispy rolls, a small selection of spreads, and fresh fruit. Just the thing for a relaxed start to the day. The portions were also perfectly adequate and well-chosen to ensure there's something for every taste. We particularly liked the fresh and light combination. You feel pleasantly full afterward, but not overindulgent. The small glass of sparkling wine with breakfast rounded it all out and created a particularly pleasant atmosphere. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable breakfast with friends, where the quality and freshness were impressive. We would definitely be happy to come back.

Breakfast was good but nothing spectacular. Service was adequate, and the atmosphere was like a chip shop.

Drinks arrived promptly, but after we ordered our food, she came back half an hour later to ask what we'd ordered. They'd forgotten. It happens, but without any apology, she acted as if this was all normal. Of course, no tip.

If you have plenty of time at lunch and are happy to wait for your food, this is the place for you. We had to wait more than 60 minutes for our food. The restaurant was neither overcrowded nor understaffed... But it was very rude and snippy, and guests who arrived after us had finished their meals, paid, and left before we even saw our food. The food was perfectly fine, though. I don't know where the good reviews come from, though. Very disappointing...

Breakfast is always a tricky affair – but good coffee is a must. Unfortunately, the coffee on offer wasn't to my taste at all. The service, however, was very good, and even though we didn't have a reservation, we even managed to get a seat. Thank you very much for that.

Great food. Had an "American" style breakfast.

We had a luxurious dinner with the children. Hamburgers and a rice salad. The food was very good. The waiter was very attentive. They gave us some drawings and colors to color and train the children. Highly recommended.

The food was okay, but nothing special; the coffee was rather watery. Service was standard, and the music was unfortunately too loud and not suitable for breakfast. Furthermore, the whole place had a very specific smell, unidentifiable but definitely not pleasant. It could be better.

I came here for the first time with my wife for our anniversary on May 15, 2025, and I was absolutely thrilled. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the service was friendly and attentive. Keep it up. We'd love to come back.

Nice location and overall look. Fancy building. Came in for lunch. Food was good, but nothing special. Service was pretty bad. We were left waiting to pay for 20 minutes. Then asked again to pay, and continued to wait. Ended up walking to the front and paying that way. The lady asked for a tip after making us wait 30+ minutes, which was kind of funny (I am Canadian, where we always tip). Pricing overall is slightly high.

I have to admit that we used to go to Max more often, but unfortunately less often. The reason: the price/performance ratio was no longer right. Small portions and mediocre quality. We tried it again and were pleasantly surprised. The portions were once again reasonable for the price, and the food was delicious and attractively presented. The staff was very friendly. We came here for breakfast for the first time today. The selection and quality were very good; you can sit outside comfortably; the prices are reasonable; and the service was very friendly and attentive.

Had 2x Max Frustuck, quite nice café food, including bubbles and juice as well as coffee.

We were here for breakfast today. You can sit and relax on the terrace. The coffee is good and the breakfast is delicious. We had scrambled eggs for breakfast and breakfast bread no. 2. We enjoyed both. The music on the terrace is a bit too loud for my taste. The service is friendly... You can have a good breakfast here.

By accident we stopped right here. The menu had currywurst and that was it. The dish was with a sauce in 7 degrees of spiciness. Two of us took 4 and one person 2. And 2 was it. Four is already a strong impression. Add fries and coleslaw. The dish is really good and you have to try it at least once in Germany. I once ate it with bread. This is probably better, but the portions are big.

We came here for breakfast and had two of the Max breakfasts. It included sausage, cheese, and scrambled eggs, along with a hot drink and freshly squeezed orange juice, all for €19.60 each. A very fair price. We were very satisfied.

As a passionate breakfast connoisseur with a penchant for quality and freshness, my visit to Max Café Bar was unfortunately disappointing. The so-called "scrambled egg breakfast and bread 2" left much to be desired in terms of both taste and quality. The fruit offered was anything but fresh and seemed carelessly presented – a disappointing overall impression for the rather high price. Unfortunately, I wasn't filled, and I didn't feel like I had a successful breakfast either. The coffee was okay, but by no means a highlight. The option to sit outside deserves special mention – however, all the tables on the terrace are slightly wobbly, which significantly reduces the comfort. Overall, the value for money is not right. For a restaurant with such a central location and modern design, I expect significantly more care and quality in the kitchen. I didn't feel like I had a successful breakfast.

Dresden isn't blessed with modern breakfast cafes. It's hard to ignore the rather large Max Altstadt – two floors with a large terrace. Reservations are still a good idea, and they're easy to make online. Service is professional, if a bit patronizing. We had the Altstadt breakfast, which was good for what it offered at €15.xx, but also a bit more expensive. Coffee is extra; decaffeinated coffee is available, and it's good.

Had breakfast at Max this morning. There was a wide selection of breakfasts with eggs, vital with berries in Porige style or the Max special with all the trimmings, always decorated and served with fresh fruit. We reserved a table for the three of us online last night and were able to indicate when making the reservation whether we had any special requests. So I could wish for a table that was ideally located in a quiet location. Breakfast came very quickly and was absolutely delicious. Prices from 11-20€, absolutely suitable for the size. We'd love to come back.

I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is very calm and pleasant. The service seems very friendly and competent. The food was very good and tasty. The portions are generous and filling. The drinks were also very tasty. The chai latte is highly recommended. In summary, I would recommend it to everyone and would go here for breakfast again.

Stopped by spontaneously for breakfast on a Sunday and was given a seat. If you want to be on the safe side, you should make a reservation. The breakfast selection is varied and the prices are reasonable. The service and atmosphere were very nice and we also enjoyed the breakfast.

I am a frequent guest at Max, this time for Easter lunch with my family. The service was absolutely great. The young lady was extremely polite, friendly, helpful and knew something about her work. When you come from the catering industry you pay more attention to details and this service was absolutely top notch. It went quickly and the food was also excellent. We always enjoy coming to Max and look forward to our next visit. Thanks so much

Unfortunately the fitness breakfast has been abolished. It's a real shame and incomprehensible to me, as a vegan bread breakfast is no longer possible. Only the vegan bowl remains on the menu. Please reconsider offering a vegan breakfast again. Otherwise you will find friendly staff in a nice and centrally located restaurant. I like the atmosphere.

Were here for breakfast today, had 1x MAX breakfast (€19.50) and 1x French. Breakfast (13.50€). Everything was fresh, tasty and a friendly waiter even offered us free changes. Only the round tables that were too small and the armchairs on the ground floor were a little out of place made it difficult to have breakfast nicely and sit in a relaxed manner. Otherwise highly recommended and great price/performance ratio 👍👍

I've been coming here for years to eat or just drink. It's always very nice. The upper area in particular is very beautiful and offers a nice view. The location is super central but this makes the parking situation very difficult.

Best Zurich Geschnetzeltes I've had so far. Everything freshly prepared and homemade. The white wine sauce is just awesome.

We had a really unpleasant evening some time ago with bad food, poor quality cocktails and unfriendly service. My husband also documented this with photos here in Maps. A lawyer is now threatening that the review is fake. Well, it isn't, as you can easily see from the pictures. And wonder of wonders, the restaurant no longer has any 1-star reviews. Maybe the management should concentrate more on cooking decent food instead of trying to kill justified criticism with the legal club? In any case, you can forget the rating here, it has been legally embellished and therefore (no longer) corresponds to reality.

I really enjoy eating out here, no matter the occasion or appetite - I think you can always find something on the menu. There are also incredibly delicious and diverse cocktails here that don't skimp on alcohol! I would be happy to come back at any time and can only recommend Max!

Nice and relaxed brunch experience at Max during the week. We ordered a large cappuccino and caffe latte with special eggs and burger. We left satisfied, although I don't know if I missed a tomato or something fresh nearby for the burger, I loved the avocado sauce.

Currywurst with fries were delicious. You sit very well. Pleasant atmosphere.

I ate breakfast with my daughter and made a reservation online in advance. I advise anyone who wants to get a table after 9 a.m. to reserve online, because then it gets really crowded. The waitress was nice, but I had to pay a little more because my daughter wanted cocoa even though we didn't want coffee for my daughter or champagne for breakfast. The breakfast is very tasty and the squeezed orange juice is really good. We'd love to come back.

The dishes were very appetizingly prepared and were very tasty. Unfortunately we didn't really feel welcome because the waiter gave us the impression that he didn't want to be there. The two of us spontaneously had dinner here on a Saturday. Great service. I forgot to add whipped cream to my hot chocolate. This was solved charmingly and we all had a smile on our faces. Thank you for the great experience, good, charming service is not extinct.
