Manns Bräu in Bayreuth

We had reserved a table for four. The service was very attentive. Drinks and food were served quickly. The beer was delicious. The pork knuckle was crispy and tasted great. Everyone else enjoyed their meal too. Definitely worth a visit!

Manns Bräu is simply a must if you want delicious food and, above all, really good beer. Stepping into the taproom feels like coming home. Super friendly staff will carry your beer to your table, both inside and outside. And then you've truly arrived! Add to that something to eat from the extensive menu, and you won't want to leave. I absolutely love it and look forward to going back every single time!

The food and beers were good; the pork knuckle was rather small, but crispy (good value for money), and the cold cuts platter was very generous with high-quality items. Our assigned room felt cramped and rather uncomfortable, and the noise level was very high, only dropping abruptly when a group of six women left. The service was very good; our order arrived quickly.

The food was simple and okay. The atmosphere was very crowded and loud, and sitting at tables with others – if that's your thing, then this is the place for you. However, we really liked that there were standing tables outside and a drinks window. That was fantastic, five stars!

That's enough for a beer... The food is simply terrible for the price. I can't understand the many good reviews about the food. My shoulder of pork still had bristles on the rind. Only when I mentioned it to the waitress was it replaced. My partner had shredded pork in mushroom cream. This reminded me of a typical €4.50 cafeteria dish. It wasn't very good, either visually or in terms of taste. The beer is good, and the atmosphere is inviting. I'll skip the food next time.

The friend who went out to eat with Christian... As my friend already reviewed about a week ago, the food was really not good. I've never had to eat anything so bad. And I've eaten at many restaurants. The owner can throw around all the witty phrases he wants. When you're served something like that, you can only review it accordingly. Normally, I would have had to send the food back, but I was a bit overwhelmed by the situation, as, as I said, I've never been served anything so bad. The only thing that improved the whole thing even a little was the service. She was really polite and funny. I look for exactly these kinds of bad comments in the reviews to avoid any nasty comments, but strangely enough, the vast majority of the descriptions were well-written. You think to yourself: "For €18.50, the food must be good." And then this happens... The day before yesterday, I went out to eat in the Czech Republic with my girlfriend, and I had an excellent meal brought to my table for a fraction of the price. And all of this in the best and most beautiful setting. I don't normally write reviews, but here I decided to write one anyway. And now, go for it for the owner... We're happy to stay away.

The food... simply good and plentiful. The sauerbraten was tender as butter. A good selection on the menu. Very friendly and efficient service. The atmosphere is simple but still very cozy. "Rustic" would probably best describe it. There are seats and standing room in front of the restaurant, which are very popular. This was our second visit and we will definitely return on our next visit to Bayreuth.

A Franconian inn just like you'd hope for. Good beer, friendly, dedicated staff, and excellent food. The draft beer is particularly noteworthy; with its lower alcohol content, it's a good dark accompaniment to what I consider the best Schäuferla (a kind of German sausage), and doesn't make drivers feel guilty. We'll definitely be back, but we'll make a reservation next time.

Four of us went there for dinner today while on vacation. Unfortunately, it's very inconspicuous. We almost walked right past it without paying attention. That would have been a real shame. The service was authentic and very attentive. We felt very comfortable. The food was good, traditional Franconian cuisine and very tasty. Reasonable value for money. We'd be happy to come back!

A quaint brewery, somewhat off the beaten track of most of Bayreuth's tourist crowds. Homely, Franconian food and delicious beer invite you to linger. You can usually easily find a comfortable seat even without a reservation. Prices are reasonable. Personally, I like the dark beer best and it's on par with the numerous breweries in Franconian Switzerland. Definitely recommended!

Okay, we were there for dinner at 3 p.m., so it's possible that they were on a skeleton crew in the kitchen at that time. If the food arrives faster than the drinks, then something is usually wrong. The menu, for example, says "Pfann-Schnitzel" (pan-fried schnitzel), but our cordon bleu came from the deep fryer or warmed up in the microwave, and the inside (cheese) wasn't even melted. The fried potatoes weren't very good. And the sauerbraten was okay, but also a modest portion, judging by your pictures. Maybe it's better at lunch or dinner. But for us, it wasn't worth the price.

The food here was so good we made two trips to eat here. Both the indoor and outside seating areas were great for sitting and visiting.

Fair prices, hearty food, and decent portions If you're not comfortable with the 20-minute walk from the train station, you can take a taxi for around €10. In theory, there's also a bus connection. However, there's no explanation for this on the Mannsbräu website, which isn't surprising in Bavaria (including Franconia), a car-loving region. Don't expect the menu to feature many dishes that are only available in Upper Franconia. Perhaps the sour bratwurst and the Schäuferla, which presumably originated in this administrative region. Otherwise, the food at Mannsbräu has largely fallen victim to the mainstream, and offal and the like have disappeared, as is the case almost everywhere in Bavaria. I probably don't need to mention that you can get a number of very drinkable beers in a brewery restaurant. But there are also decent wines, served in authentic neighborhoods. Overall, there's nothing wrong with the prices. The same goes for all the service staff, who performed their work impeccably with good humor and always served me in a friendly and attentive manner. I was also pleased by the note on the menu that strangers can sit together at the same table. This also fits in with the fact that the formal "Sie" (formal "you") is omitted from the outset. You immediately feel at home. I was also very satisfied with my pork cordon bleu. It probably wouldn't win first place in a gourmet schnitzel competition, but the evenly distributed filling and tender meat won me over. The potato salad, which I hadn't experienced in this form before, proved to be a fitting and very tasty accompaniment. The Willi (a kind of sausage), served in a shot glass, was a pleasant conclusion. Anyone who wants to experience Franconian beer and pub culture as it was 50 years ago, which looks, feels, and smells almost identical to that of Old Bavaria and Bavarian Swabia, is in the right place at Mannsbräu. Inside and out. I can easily imagine a return visit.

The dark beer is exceptionally drinkable and malty. We had the vegan Sauerbraten, the vegan cabbage rolls, and cheese spaetzle. The spaetzle were a bit lightly seasoned, but the other two dishes (especially the Sauerbraten) were very good. It's great that such a traditional restaurant also offers vegan/vegetarian alternatives. The waiters were all young, friendly, and dedicated. You can feel at home there.

I'm not usually so critical, but this was unfortunately one of the worst Wiener Schnitzels I've ever had. Very dry, including the fried potatoes. Sorry.

It's a quaint old pub. Plenty of outdoor seating, but we were able to find room inside even without a reservation. The non-alcoholic drinks were very good. We also took the draft beer and a beer mug home with us. The service and price were excellent.

A very cozy and rustic typical Franconian inn. It is advisable to reserve a table. The staff is very friendly, very concerned about the well-being of the guests and orders are taken and delivered very quickly. The brewery of the same name offers: light, light, dark, wheat and currently also bock beer. I can highly recommend each of the varieties. The best light beer (Schankbräu) I have ever drunk. There is a very wide range of snacks here.

We thought we would go to Manns Bräu and let ourselves be pampered. We ordered a crusty roast with a salad plate. The crusty roast was good. The sauce was a bit bland and the meat was very dry. The salad was dressed without a particularly good sauce. So nothing great at all. Which is a shame. While clearing away, a somewhat hectic waiter came and dropped his knife and fork on my pants. My pants were then full of grease stains from the sauce It can always happen but there was no candy except I'm sorry. It would have been nice if there had been a little treat as a small compensation.

Unfortunately no recommendation. Rude approach from the waitress, the toilet was completely full of smoke. Actually unimaginable in 2025, but it still exists here. Lol. The fact that the beer didn't taste good is a matter of taste. Gifted. But now I'm very excited about the owner's replica. Disciplining the guests afterwards for what they didn't do beforehand is also a deep insight. But no matter what it says: it won't change anything. Luckily, Bayreuth has so many great restaurants. You can save this.

We always enjoyed eating at Manns regularly. However, we have recently noticed the smaller portions, for example with the cheese spaetzle. We were quite disappointed, as one can at least expect consistent portions given the relative price increase over the last few months. In any case, we weren't full. What a shame! Nevertheless, very tasty food

We had the pleasure of enjoying our wedding meal in a very cozy side room of this wonderful pub - and it couldn't have been better! In the morning we were allowed to decorate the tables according to our wishes at our leisure. We were even offered coffee - a warm gesture that shows how much hospitality is experienced here. The meal was excellent! We were particularly pleased with the large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes - this is not a given in a pub and was very much appreciated by our guests. Everyone was thrilled, and as a surprise we also received two large plates of carnival donuts on the house! The service was outstanding: a young, extremely attentive service employee looked after us with great friendliness. Together with two "helpers" he served the food almost at the same time so that we could all enjoy it together - a big plus! A huge compliment to the kitchen and the entire team - you can feel that there is a good working atmosphere here. Thank you for this wonderful experience – we will definitely be back!

Was here again today after a long time. The knuckles were okay, just way too soft and there was no dumpling instead of bread and no sauce, everything was very dry. Beer was good as always!

The food has clearly lost quality. The week before last, one of us got a Cordon Bleu that was really amazing. Between two wafer-thin, dust-dry pieces of meat, baked to death, there was a slice of cooked ham and “cheese” that looked, smelled and probably also tasted indefinable, like “analogue cheese substitute”. It's shocking how such a simple standard can be messed up like that, especially since they don't necessarily charge frisbee prices. The more manageable fried potatoes that were served were also borderline carbonized. One of us would have accepted it, two of us would have left it burned. Knuckle from the deep fryer (there are definitely fans of it, but it's not necessarily fine dining) & bratwurst were ok. One of my buddies and I were glad we didn't order any food. Service is quick, friendly and on point - there's nothing to complain about. Interior is a bit greasy/worn and could use a bit of caring. We are now looking for an alternative for our group.

Unfortunately I can't give more stars, as much as I'd like to. The nice service and the rustic atmosphere are fine, but we were mainly there for the food. And were pretty disappointed. On roast day there was already no more crusty roast at 11:30 a.m. Also no fried potatoes with fried eggs. So ordered the classic - Schäuferle. It came promptly - and was just dry, way beyond the point. Even though I'm not particularly sensitive, it shouldn't have been brought to the table. Then it's better to go to the competition, which simply does it much better for the same price.

The Manns Bräu in downtown Bayreuth is a long-established restaurant. The food was delicious 😋 and sufficient. The service was sometimes overwhelmed, but very friendly. Not all orders were delivered as ordered, but complaints were resolved immediately. The ambience is Bavarian (Upper Franconian) rustic, but very noisy. The prices are in the lower middle range and are reasonable.
