Mangold Restaurant in Troisdorf

We were a large group at this restaurant, and unfortunately, I have to say: The value for money was not at all good. My dish, baked Camembert with cranberries, was served on a "bed" of canned pineapple chunks arranged in a whole, cut-open can shape at the bottom. The Camembert sat on top. This combination was not only very unusual, but also completely unsuitable for my taste. Other dishes were also noticeably experimental: A tarte flambée with Camembert and cranberries was additionally garnished with pears, a very powerful, heavy combination. The "crispy garlic bread" turned out to be a tarte flambée version with tomatoes, which was neither advertised nor matched our expectations. The currywurst was smothered in barbecue sauce so heavy that it was barely edible. On the positive side, the schnitzel, pepper sauce, and the grilled platter were okay, but nothing special. Considering the prices, it was more standard, nothing more. The "starter" that was requested when making the reservation was a very negative experience. We assumed it was a small gift or an appetizer, but we were charged almost €7 per person. That meant almost €50 for the entire group, for two small bowls of aioli, some coleslaw, two plates of grilled vegetables, and some bread. For this quantity and quality, it was disproportionately high, and we felt we weren't well-informed at the time. The drinks were also noticeably overpriced: A glass of simple house wine cost just under €7. That's a price for which you would normally expect significantly higher quality. Smaller details confirmed this impression: French fries were served with two tubes of ketchup and mayo placed on the table. For a restaurant in this price range, this seems poorly thought out. At the end, we were offered schnapps "on the house" (we declined), but neither an apology nor any concessions were made to our criticisms. Overall, we were left with the impression of very simple, convenience food, combined with unusual and not always appropriate ideas, but at a price that doesn't match what's on offer. Anyone expecting fresh, harmonious cuisine will be disappointed here. Unfortunately, it wasn't a complete experience for us, and we wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

A truly charming restaurant with very friendly staff. The food is excellent; you could practically taste that everything was freshly prepared and nothing came from a frozen food store or tetra pack. The value for money is very fair. We would love to come back. Thank you very much.

We ate at Mangold on Saturday and were absolutely delighted! We discovered the restaurant through the Schlemmerblock (a German restaurant) and were not disappointed. The service was super friendly and attentive. The owner served us personally, which impressed us greatly. The food was fantastic – there was a huge selection, and everything came to our table quickly. We hardly had to wait, which we really appreciated. The atmosphere was also very pleasant and informal. We immediately felt at home. We can definitely recommend the restaurant and will definitely be back!

Four of us were there for dinner. Completely lacking in concept. The menu was the same. The restaurant resembled a storage room filled with junk you no longer need. The only female server was completely overwhelmed. But she tried hard. The food was more like something you'd expect from a cafeteria. The pepper sauce and hollandaise were ready-made. The pork loin was tough and dry. The schnitzel was okay. We won't be going back.

We spontaneously stopped by this restaurant today and were very pleased! The owner is friendly and accommodating. The food was prepared quickly, and the taste wasn't compromised. We'd be happy to come back.

7/25 Appetizer plate shared between two = very good (actually a main course for one person). The prawn pan and the Madagascan steaks were also very good. Good (very 'strong' aioli!). The host is really VERY friendly!! We'll be back!

Wir wollten heute um 15 Uhr dort Essen da das Restaurant ja lt.von 11.30 Uhr-22.00 Uhr geöffnet hat . Gut wir uns hingesetzt da kam der Chef und sagte das es geschlossen sei ist soweit ok .Wir hatten einen Gutschein gewonnen 10€ den hatte ich auf den Tisch gelegt und der Wirt sagte dann zu uns wir können bleiben mein Mann sagte zu ihm wir können auch einandermal wiederkommen das wollte er nicht aber seinem Gesicht sah man an das es ihm nicht gefiel mein Mann sagte wir können auch später wiederkommen denke das war nur wegen dem Gutschein ich sage mal er war freundlich unfreundlich da man ihm das im Gesicht ansah aber gut wir haben dann bestellt es kamen unsere Getränke und der Salat und Dan wollte er schon das wir bezahlen fanden wir sehr komisch mein Mann wollte noch ein zweites Bier da meinte er das er es China berechnet und später bringt fanden wir sehr seltsam ok dann kamen die Hauptspeise die wir dann auch gegessen haben und der Wirt dann auch das 2. Bier gebracht dann sagte er uns das er eigentlich Mittagspause hat und wir nur ausnahmsweise essen bekommen hätte dann habe ich ihm gesagt das im Internet steht das er von 11.30-22.00 Uhr offen hat da sagte es würde ihn nicht interessieren er ist der Chef und kann auf und zu machen wie er will darauf habe ich gesagt dann sollte es im netzt ändern da kam er ist Chef…. Darauf sagte ich ihm das ich es nicht ok finde und das wir das erste und letze Mal waren und ich ihm auch schlechte Bewertung schreibe darauf wollte er uns den Gutschein wiedergeben wir wollten es nicht da wir eine schlechte Erfahrung gemacht haben mit seinem Lokal und bestimmt nicht nochmal dort essen dann wollte er uns noch eine Kaffee anbieten den wir dankend abgelehnt haben Also für uns sehr schlechter Service da wir ja paarmal gesagt haben wir kommen späte aber wollte er ja nicht

Das Restaurant Mangold überzeugt mit leckerem Essen, einer freundlichen und aufmerksamen Bedienung sowie einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre. Ob drinnen im stilvollen Ambiente oder draußen auf der schönen Terrasse – man fühlt sich rundum wohl. Die Gerichte sind geschmacklich hervorragend abgestimmt, reichhaltig und ansprechend serviert. Besonders das gut gewürzte Fleisch und die knusprigen Beilagen bleiben in Erinnerung. Der Service ist schnell, herzlich und geht individuell auf Wünsche ein. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und empfehlen das Mangold sehr gerne weiter!

Purtroppo siamo italiani e questo ci complica le cose. I ristoratori tedeschi non hanno menù in italiano e ci si affida a Google translate. Abbiamo preso la braciola viennese fritta con funghi champignon e la braciola avvolta nello speck con patata al cartoccio e formaggio fresco Nell’attesa ci hanno portato un insalata “da busta” ma fresca. I secondi arrivati dopo 20 minuti. Buoni, formaggio tipo Filadelfia in dose da palla da tennis su una bella patata cotta al cartoccio. Le patate di contorno avevano il sapore e l’odore del Mac Donald. Turistico insomma come posto senza infamia ne lode, buono perché la carne andava bene ma non da ritornare. Come scorta di scelta insomma poiché dove dovevamo andare mancava la corrente e non potevano effettuare il servizio

Yesterday, on the occasion of my mother's big birthday, we went to Mangold in a larger group for dinner. From the friendly welcome from the boss to the excellent food and the attentive service, we were completely satisfied! A successful evening!

Been here for the first and last time. The pork steak with fried potatoes and pepper cream sauce was a mediocre meal with ready-made sauce and instead of the fried potatoes ordered, potatoes came that were quartered and then fried on all sides. The sauce was slightly curdled and had no taste whatsoever. The pasta with shrimp with a light sauce (according to the menu) turned out to be a sticky mass with clotted cream. The portions were very large. The boss, who served alone, was friendly and offered us a coffee or schnapps on the house, which we politely declined. I have never had my favorite dish, pasta with scampi, served in such poor quality. Maybe the cook just had a bad day. But I won't test it again.

Es war super lecker, alle waren total nett! Alle waren begeistert vom Essen. Man kann wunderbar in gutem Ambiente drin sitzen, aber es gibt auch eine sehr schöne Aussenterrasse. Wir kommen wieder!

6/04/25. we went to dinner at Mangold. I ordered grilled pork, turkey and beef steak with fries. This dish included some natural yogurt and something that looked like ajvar from a jar. My wife ordered grilled turkey steak with a jacket potato. The food was so badly seasoned that if I had sprinkled the meat with a ready-made set of spices, the dish would have been much tastier. We paid €55 for these two dishes with salads and a small portion of fries for a child. The card payment option is not available and we did not receive a bill. And when we asked for a portion of mayonnaise for fries, we received a bottle of Helmans mayonnaise that was maybe 10% full. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant. On a scale of 1-10 it's -7. Money wasted.

I ate there with my sister, we received a warm welcome and immediately felt very at home. The staff was very friendly and always made sure that their guests were well looked after and felt comfortable. The food was excellent, we can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience. We would definitely like to come back.

For the first time we had dinner here. The service was extremely courteous - you can just feel that this is done with love. We enjoyed bread with aioli beforehand and our main courses were also very tasty and tastefully prepared. There were no long waiting times and special drink requests were fulfilled. The cappuccinos for dessert were really hot and delicious. CONCLUSION: Highly recommended and we would be happy to come back.

I just had a coffee there and used the toilet. Regarding the ambience, I'll put it this way: It has seen better days, especially the toilet. When you enter, you are greeted by an acrid smell of toilet stone. For this reason, I found it very difficult to breathe and was happy when I was outside again. Service: I ordered a coffee, the cup was the size of a slightly larger espresso cup, and 4 cup portions of milk were provided, I used one. While I was drinking, the service came by and took the remaining milk away, which left me with a bad feeling. Was he trying to prevent me from taking the remaining portions home with me? Friendliness is probably rather underplayed there, when I paid €3.20 for an “espresso cup”, I said a friendly “goodbye”, no response. Goodbye again on the way out and again no reply. A restaurant where you enjoy being a guest because the innkeepers are happy to be hosts. The starter plate was extremely good. Small requests were fulfilled without being asked. So my daughter got a side salad even though it wasn't included with her meal, simply because our host didn't want her to have to wait while we ate. The friendliness of these people warms the heart in the cold season. The food does the rest.

We would like to report on our recent visit to your restaurant, as it was unfortunately very disappointing. We were initially greeted warmly by a blonde lady, which gave us a positive first impression. Unfortunately, this was quickly tarnished by another blonde waitress, whose rude and uncustomer-oriented behavior struck us as very negative. The sauce we ordered for our schnitzel tasted as if it were made entirely of cream, which was neither appealing nor up to the usual standard. Furthermore, we mistakenly received fries instead of the fried potatoes we ordered. When we pointed this out to the waitress, she simply responded with, "Too bad, it's too late now." We find such a response disrespectful and unacceptable. She also showed no remorse for our polite criticism of her behavior. Another problem arose when paying. We wanted to use a valid voucher, but this was initially rejected due to "house rules." Only after a discussion with the manager was the voucher finally accepted. As an apology, we were offered free fried potatoes on a future visit, which, given the events, was nothing but a joke to us. Due to the overall situation, we have decided not to visit your restaurant in the future.

The three of us went to Mangold and were absolutely thrilled! The menu was fantastic, the daily specials were great, and the service was incredibly good and attentive, the ambiance was wonderful, and the food was quick and delicious, lovingly prepared. This evening I had the pleasure of enjoying a simple mushroom cream schnitzel with fries, a mixed side salad and a delicious, tasty Merlot at Mangold. I recommend this dish to you! If the other dishes I haven't tried yet were prepared to a similar standard to what I saw today, then look forward to a quality meal! The schnitzel was really tasty, it was crispy but not burnt, well done but not dry, the mushroom cream sauce was great, had delicate nuances for its kind, the fries were tasty, crispy, not sloppy, the side salad was excellent. The carrots were even cut into fine chiffonade, well prepared and easy to enjoy. The service was also great! Nothing goes without saying!!! First of all I was greeted nicely, actually had a conversation, but the nice manner was accompanied by the corresponding human attitude, not an act. The chef himself was generous, also nice, professional. The ambience is recommended, with several details, from the table lighting from the candles to the bamboo wall, from the wine bottles and the cookbooks to the cup... Also the paintings or art pictures, the pleasantly placed, appropriate background music. - Even the pleasant clientele that I noticed. I always cook myself and make everything fresh, but even my husband thought the schnitzel with mushrooms was UNBEATABLE!🤣❤️ 2 points deducted for deducting money, we were charged a lot more. We asked her about it directly but nothing came of it. If everything hadn't been so great before, I would have insisted on the 5€! But then I thought it didn't matter. But it really disappointed me for a long time to have the rating so bad because of a few pennies.

We spent a lovely afternoon at Mangold. One of the few restaurants that offer hot food all day long. We were warmly welcomed. The excellent service continued throughout our visit. The very nice waitress came several times and asked whether everything was OK or whether we had any further requests. The food was very good. Both the schnitzel was very tasty and the rump steak was grilled to perfection. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here. We'd love to come back.
