Quaint restaurant with a beautiful beer garden. Decent products. Even at Maffenbeier you can't avoid convenience products. However, these are cleverly refined. Prices okay. Attentive service. Reservation recommended. Visited again on April 7th, 2025. The food is still home-style and great. I found it disturbing that smoking was allowed in the CLOSED tent porch, which is the beer garden in the summer. Especially since the actual restaurant (smoke-free) can only be entered through this area.

Tradition meets cosiness – a real pleasure! The Jägerlust zum Maffenbeier in Ludwigshafen is a real gem for everyone who appreciates down-to-earth, home-style cuisine in a rustic atmosphere. As soon as you enter you feel at home - rustically furnished, with great attention to detail and warm hospitality. The menu offers a great selection of hearty classics - from schnitzel to roast, all freshly prepared and excellent in taste. The roast game is particularly recommended – tender, aromatic and perfectly seasoned. The side dishes were also on point and the portions were generous. The service was very friendly and attentive, you can tell that people work here with passion. Price-performance ratio: top! Conclusion: If you love good food, a relaxed atmosphere and traditional cuisine, this is the right place for you. We'd love to come back!

came at 10.30 p.m. and they left the kitchen open. Great portions, even the small, friendly service and Jägermeister was cold🤘

Pretty cool there. We got something to eat late in the evening and it was just fresh and lots of it!

Salad was tasty and prices were reasonable. Things also went pretty quickly in the afternoon.

OK, but nothing to make me come again! Food was ok, service was nothing special and the ambience outside was relatively cool, there was nothing left inside. But the store was full, maybe our expectations were too high 😕

The Maffe is cult. Simply beautiful here. Great to sit outside in the summer, otherwise there is a heated beer garden and a smaller dining room inside that is almost always full. Good home cooking, something for everyone. Absolutely top prices. Wines are also great and the service is always quick and friendly. Great here.

The food is very good! Surrounded by pizza and kebab, here you'll find Palatinate dishes, i.e. home cooking. And good beer! The website is well described. I would love to come back!

Rustic, good cuisine, nice conversations

The service has deteriorated considerably in recent years, as has the cleanliness of the restaurant, but the food is still good, home-style.

My husband “loves” this restaurant…unfortunately it’s not my absolute taste…but something very positive has to be mentioned: plenty of wait staff and the food is served in “quick time”! Just try German cuisine for yourself!

Stopped in spontaneously on a Saturday. Heated beer garden. Jägerschnitzel was very tasty. The cellar beer was wonderful. Price performance is top.

One of the "last places" for good-bourgeois gastronomy and "good-bourgeois" culture in Ludwigshafen...without judging today's "mixed" society ⚠️. Surrounded by a pleasant audience and a pleasant atmosphere, you spend your time with a pleasant feeling of well-being... and a certain longing for "old times" 😉. Highly recommended and quite remarkable ⚠️

Parking is great, 3 minute drive to the clinic/ 14 minute walk, vegetarian selection too, great prices, pretty full at lunchtime. I would say it's an insider tip ;)

The new year is starting off well again in our Maffenbeier. The great, weekly changing daily menu with tasty dishes invites you. Salad lovers will also get their money's worth, as a mixed side salad is always included. I have a recommendation from the menu especially for such guests: “Salat Nizza”, a salad that can be found here The preparation is closely based on Provençal cuisine. Eating the "Salate nicoise", which is so popular in the Nice region, here has a decisive advantage: you can save yourself the trip to Nice.

Always a delicious meal! The service is really top top top! The atmosphere may seem very rudtical! But that's partly what makes it so! #traditionallocal

In the heated tent outside it's more like this, the schnitzel was ok.

Unfortunately, cordon bleu is a ready-made product, the lentil stew is a thin soup, the curry sausage sauce was just a tomato sauce. It's a shame, it was an attempt that we won't repeat.

An absolute scandal! I've never experienced anything like this before. The staff was not only unfriendly, but downright disrespectful - you had the feeling that you were a nuisance. No hospitality or effort to fulfill guests' wishes. The wait was endless, and when the food finally arrived, it was disgraceful: cold, tasteless and obviously prepared without any care. If you don't care about the guests, then at least the kitchen should deliver - but here too, none. A restaurant that places so little emphasis on service and quality should really consider whether it is in the right place in the hospitality industry. Absolutely not recommended!

OK. A meal was not included when ordering. Came much later. That was unprofessional. Otherwise people smoke in the tent and the intermediate door is often open so it smells of smoke. Not recommended for non-smokers

This was my 2nd time at Maffenbeier. I had a steak as before. It was very delicious and cooked as I ordered. It is a great local German restaurant. But in the garden its allowed to smoke altough its covered due to cold weather and the rain. Smoking should not be allowed also in the garden🙂 Thank you

Like “in old times” 😉 You always feel welcome here. The staff is really on the ball and very friendly. Home cooking at fair prices, accompanied by a good beer or spritzer 👌🏻 Always happy.

We always like to come. It's funny that something like this doesn't happen more often near BASF. We usually get a place for 3-4 people without a reservation, but you can also be unlucky

Very nice German restaurant with very down-to-earth cuisine, good value for money. The conditions are very fast and the food is served just as quickly. The prices are reasonable and not exorbitant. The wine selection from the Palatinate is worth seeing at these prices! Selected top wineries shake hands. We sat outside at the long tables in the shade and watched the hustle and bustle, cozy and pleasant. We look forward to coming back to you dear ones very soon... Greetings from the region

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We didn't even get a chance to eat as the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was a lack of any respect for the guests. We also noticed that the general quality has deteriorated significantly compared to before. Due to this negative experience, we cannot recommend the restaurant at the moment.

A beautiful, green beer garden. The food was ok, the service was very friendly and quick. Prices acceptable. Fried potatoes with 3 fried eggs and salad €10.90 and cheese spaetzle with salad €12.90. The menu needs to be revised a bit for today's times and perhaps include another vegetarian dish. There are parking spaces in the area.

Quaint restaurant with a cozy beer garden. I ordered Hacki special and got Hacki normal, that can happen. The food was very tasty, but both the gravy and the fries were too salty for my taste. Nevertheless, overall a clear recommendation 👍

Anyone who wants something hearty can get a good Palatinate platter. Pair it with a dry Riesling or spritzer... Delicious!

Nice, rustic restaurant in the Hemshof. The food is always very good and tasty, but strangely I can't tolerate the food. The waitresses are often stressed at the weekend, where politeness is sometimes forgotten here and there, but all in all they are fine.

I was shown straight to a spot with two dogs without a reservation. I had an excellent meal, enjoyed a great beer and all at a great price. Very friendly staff completes this gastronomic experience. Recommended for every visitor to Ludwigshafen.

Maffenbeier is a little out of date, but it's simply rustic and cozy... the food is simply great 👍 and pretty quick on the table... The ladies at the service are very friendly and very attentive... We'll definitely be back and can Recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience!!!

The atmosphere is rustic. You shouldn't let that put you off. The Maffenbeier is still one of the top addresses in Ludwigshafen for typical Palatinate dishes. Particularly noteworthy are the excellent price/performance ratio and the great, friendly staff!

The food was the last fries fried for the 3rd or 4th time, cordon bleu made from the same fat, lettuce dipped in vinegar, so there was nothing

In addition to the very friendly service, the moderate prices and the rustic ambience, the Maffenbeier impresses with its very tasty food. The menu and daily specials offer a wide selection. We chose the pork loin, the salad with chicken strips and the breaded schnitzel and we all loved it. Definitely coming back

very nice place for an evening beer, the service is very nice and helpful. If someone speaks English, each of the staff is able to help. I recommend this place 100%. If I'm passing through I will definitely look here and go to this place.

Not particularly suitable for vegetarians, but the meat dishes are said to be very good. However, the outdoor area is a bit narrow and not particularly comfortable, especially very crowded at peak meal times.

Maybe one of the last German ones Restaurants in Ludwigshafen. I would describe the food as good bourgeois. draw (this should not be described as derogatory). Large portions with excellent roasts potatoes. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair. The drinks are for today's standards surprisingly cheap.

The food is okay for the price. It's a cheap restaurant and that's how it tastes. It's just a shame that the selection consists almost exclusively of meat-heavy dishes. Even when it comes to the salad selection there is only ONE vegetarian salad... just out of date.

The food is delicious. The waitress mixed up our drinks with another table and was still mad at us for not telling her because we hadn't noticed. Then she gave our tasted wine spritzer to another guest 🤮.
