Worst food I ever eat in my life. Worst service

We were there on a Friday evening without a reservation. Despite a short wait, we were quickly offered a table. This was in a small separate room with only 4 tables. Very adventurous with the tub and the basin - but never “negative”. We were advised in advance that we would only stay for an hour because of later reservations - but the food was on the table within a very short time. Very tasty - but definitely on the spicier side

Pro: Madam Chutney is a nicely decorated restaurant with very friendly staff. Cons: Unfortunately our reservation was “lost” and we had to wait over 60 minutes. It would have been nice if we had been offered something to drink while we waited. The food was average and rather expensive. Personally, I like the Indian food in the Bindaas restaurant around the corner and at Indian Bites on Heimeranplatz better and the presentation of the food is more appealing.

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. While the service was excellent throughout the meal, things took a negative turn when it came time to pay. We noticed a 20 euro charge labeled as "service," which seemed unusual. When I inquired about it, the waiter hesitated and then told me he would check with the chef. This raised some concerns, as the chef’s role should be focused on the food, not financial matters. After a brief wait, the waiter returned and informed me that the chef had instructed him to refund the charge. This situation left a bad impression, especially considering the possibility that we were singled out because of our background. While the service itself was good, the handling of the bill and the confusion around the extra charge made this a very unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on the way we were treated.

Delicious. You can't eat much of the ice cream, but every spoonful is a burst of flavor.

The most delicious Indian restaurant

Having visited many Indian restaurants in India and the UK, I looked really forward to trying this on in Munich. Waste of time. Don’t go there. Staff is impolite and unprofessional. The menu is all right but there’s a lot missing what makes a welcoming and sophisticated restaurant. No papadam and chutneys. The appetizer was disappointing. Main dish all right. Our table behind a pillar made it difficult to see the restaurant and our waiter didn’t see us. I really didn’t enjoy the evening and I can tell, my wife hated the place. You really cannot predict such experiences when you enter a restaurant the first time. Munich seems a bit of a rude place for staff behavior anyway. However, even entering the place and going two stair flights into the basement waiting for someone to see you to the table was disrespectful. The time it took someone to arrive was unreal. Don’t ever go there

I have tried a butter chicken in this place and the taste is quite good. I would say it was a little bit spicier than I had tried before (I didn’t expect it, the menu didn’t mark it as a spicy meal) and the portion was incredibly small for the paid price: 18.9€.

I booked for 1 hour and half for my birthday party with my friends (till 19:30. They kick me out after 45min because they wanted the tables. We had still drinks on the tables. FIRST AND LAST TIME FOR ME

Be sure to make a reservation as it is very busy. Anyone who makes a reservation by phone can only stay seated for 1.5 hours - in the first shift. Wasn't mentioned on the phone. Reservation online 2 hours. But the visit was worth it. The food is simply delicious. We had four different dishes and all were excellent. The service is very nice and accommodating. The wine was cold and the place is nicely decorated. Since there is room for a few people, the background noise is high. I would definitely like to come back. An absolute recommendation!! A gigantic good butter chicken, super tasty starters and a nice ambience. The staff is very friendly and you are served quickly. If you want to eat really good Indian food, you're in good hands here! We'll definitely be back.

The place is nice but the food is not good ! I had a butter chicken and it was not tasty at all. The yogourt was also smelling funny. I ordered water and I got a bottle without glass. I paid 17 euros for a bad butter chicken and a small bottle of water. A waste of money.

Cool place with a great vibe. Been here a couple of times and the food has been great. Service is also good. Love the starters especially the street food style. Quite authentic and happy to come again.

The food was great, and one of the few places where you can get good spicy food. 10/10 for the food. The staff could have been much friendlier, I hate leaving a restaurant feeling like they’re upset with me, even after a good tip.

Wir waren an einem Sonntag um 18:30 hier zum Essen. Wurden freundlich empfangen und gleich zum Tisch begleitet. Obwohl das Restaurant voll war wurden wir zügig und freundlich bedient. Das Essen war gut. Es gab nichts daran auszusetzen. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist in Ordnung. Die vielen schlechten Bewertungen können wir nicht nachvollziehen. Wer allerdings einen ruhigen Abend beim Inder erleben will sollte vielleicht einen anderen Inder z.B. im Westend besuchen.

Yesterday we went to see Madam Chutney for the first time after we saw the documentary in the ARD media library. We thought the food, especially the starter and dessert, was great. The service was very nice and we felt comfortable. I would definitely make a reservation as it is very busy. What could possibly be improved: You cannot change or move the reservation online if you want to. We toyed with the idea but then let it go.

The food was really a poem. Far away from the heavy Indian sauces. Service very friendly and quick. Despite the very good attendance, it was still possible to have a good time. Absolutely top!!

Great street food and an absolute taste experience

The vegetarian options are surprisingly limited for an Indian restaurant. The food is ok but I know many other Indians which offer better dishes.

As you can see we ordered Nawab Chicken Biryani which was spicy but was of taste. Also my partner ordered Butter Chicken Old Delhi. This cousin was perfect too. the staff were polite, kind and friendly. the atmosphere was lively and warm however i didn't like the house music. they have a huge Hohner piano but no one played during the time we visited there. both meals were rich regarding the flavors and also the amount of rice and chicken was acceptable. If you are worried about how spicy was the meal I should mention that not Indian enough.

We stumbled upon this when sightseeing in Marienplatz! It was a great decision to walk-in. The Thalis are absolutely affordable and the quantity is great! Was missing home since the past few days while travelling to Germany and it reminded me of Mumbai & Delhi. The vibe’s too good, must try Samosa Chaat, Lassi & Thalis. The service & staff is too good.

Waren aufgrund der Doku 'alles außer Kartoffeln' hier. Haben mehr erwartet. Kann die Lobeshymnen nicht verstehen. Indisches Essen das Mittelmaß ist. Nicht mehr nicht weniger. Die Tabletts mit Einteilung in denen das Essen serviert wird erinnern an Kantine oder Gefängnis. Mein Chicken Vindaloo war nur lauwarm ebenso die Kartoffeln hierzu. Die versprochene Schärfe fehlte mir komplett. Der Pflücksalat war gezuckert ohne Vinaigrette. Lecker war die Mango Lassi. Alles in allem kann man hier essen muss es jedoch nicht nochmal. Der Service war weder Fisch noch Fleisch die Tische sind klein man sitzt sehr eng. Jetzt im Winter zog kalte Luft ins Lokal so daß wir mit Winterjacken am Tisch saßen.

RUDE and WORST waiter in Munich. I usually don’t write bad reviews but the waiter, I believe his name was Singh, he was rude. When asked that lunch order came rice or roti, he rudely said just rice. He didn’t like us having questions on the menu since we have diet restrictions. He was rolling his eyes when taking orders and practically snatched the menus from my kids while they were still looking at it. The place is 2 stories down the main floor, looking like a dungeon and very dark. I heard about Germans not being polite before on a tour but an Indian adapting the rude culture was least expected, to the point that it felt almost racist behavior. If the mgmt is looking at those reviews, this should be something worth addressing. I would have given zero stars for service. Food was ok, I would have given other restaurant a try.

Ich war gestern mit meinem Mann und meiner Tochter bei Madame Chutney essen. Wartezeit nehmen wir gerne in Kauf. Ebenfalls einen schlechteren Tisch, wenn wir nur zu dritt essen. Allerdings waren alle drei Gerichte nur lauwarm (wenn überhaupt) als sie endlich serviert wurden. Das am wenigsten heißeste haben wir zurückgehen und nochmal wärmen lassen. Alle drei Gerichte zurückgehenzulassen war uns unangenehm. Wir sind aufgrund der Doku aus Ansbach gekommen und sind sehr enttäuscht.

Overall, the food was tasty, although the dishes I ordered were extremely spicy - even though they weren't marked as spicy on the menu. My recommendation is to mention this when ordering if you want it less spicy or not spicy at all. Otherwise, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Unfortunately, all three dishes were only served lukewarm to us last night. We let one dish warm up again. It was too unpleasant for us to return all three dishes. Since we came specifically because of the documentary, we are very disappointed.

Only tried some of the chaat options, which are way too overpriced for what it is. The pani puri/golgappa was such a disappointment, the puri size could not have been any smaller and the filling was barely half a centimeter of a potato -- it was basically 8 puri's filled just with the pani. Mango lassi wasn't great either. The service made us feel like we should not have been there just for chaat and the space is too cramped. I would have liked to try the main dishes but probably wouldn't go back.

The dishes I wanted to eat were unavailable, so I had to compromise and take what was available. There were amazing reviews for samosa chaat, but I did not see the appeal. It was just spicy without any flavour. The paneer lababdar on the other end was flavourful. That is the only reason why I am giving this establishment a 3. The lights in the womens bathroom weren't working as well. Above average ambience and average food.

The restaurant is very beautifuly decorated, a wonderful atmosphere. The music was not too loud and you could have a pleasant conversation. The food was great and it was prepared really fast, almost no wait time! The drinks were also awsome ( we had Indian summer cocktail)! The waiter offered us a chai masala on the house which was also very tasty! The waiters were very friendly and attentive. Can't recommend it enough!

Papri Chaat was awesome. Tandoori chicken was tasty, but the quantity was too small. And chicken malai tikka was too sweet, like with loads of sugar in it. This is not the real Indian taste, but modified for European standards. The service was okay. The food was a bit late. The Indian waiters didn't care about us but the young german waiter was really nice and warm. But nobody asked if everything is okay and do we need something else. Never seen that before in a restaurant!

We had Panipuri, Samosa Chaat, Dahi Puri, & Pav Bhaji. All of them were excellent! Just like the ones you’ll get in India. But the best was the warm Gulab Jamoon served with Rabri . I wasn’t expecting it to be warm but it was soooo good! 🤩😍❤️

The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant, you can have a normal conversation. The waiters were friendly and the food and drinks were brought very quickly. The food was very tasty and there is a lot of choice. The portions are very large. The cocktail (Indian summer) was a nice surprise and was delicious. At the end we got tea on the house, very nice and nice guests.

Einfach rude!! If late reservations aren't welcome, they shouldn't have accepted one at 21:30. Asking customers to leave while drinking or eating is unacceptable. They should’ve advised coming earlier.

I was eating here today to spend time with my family and have a nice evening. When I arrived everything was nice, the waiter took our order and brought us our drinks, after 30 minutes of waiting the food still didn't come FINALLY the starter came It was just disgusting, pure disappointment after 20 minutes the main course was JUST GROTTEN BAD not recommended at all PLEASE CHOOSE ANOTHER RESTAURANT. I couldn't put up with that, I got up and complained. The waiter's reaction was just NAUGHHHH. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it and badmouth the restaurant in front of everyone. I calmed myself down and asked for the bill. He brought the bill AND I got a shock. DESPITE THE COMPLAINT I WAS FORCED TO PAY €173 Pure disrespect to demand something like that from such a bad meal and to make a change without an apology or suggestion PLEASE stay away from such a rip-off, it's all just fake and a waste of money I will never show up here again I expect an answer from the manager who should be Get the rude staff under control and teach everyone a little respect.

Overall, an okay place as the taste of all the things we tried was just okay to good. The Pav Bhaji was good, the pav was nicely done and the bhaji was okay in taste, the pani puri was okay the green tangy water taste was not that great but the puri and filling was okay. The gobi manchurian was good but slightly on the sweeter side. The gobi manchurian was not served hot and that was also one of our concerns.

Everything about this restaurant is amazing. Highly recommended if you like authentic Indian food - fine dine ambience, very friendly staff & service.
