The best summer rolls (in my case with tofu) in the entire Ruhr area, consistently heavenly good. Absolute recommendation from me. The other dishes (I'm only familiar with the vegan versions) also taste fantastic and every time I visit. Authentic Vietnamese and not “Germanized” like many others. For those who are interested, a large vegetarian and vegan selection, but interesting and recommended for all diets. The price is in an acceptable range, neither particularly expensive nor noticeably cheap. The ambience is quiet and pleasant and at peak times, especially on weekends, it is better to reserve early or ask by phone whether there is still space. Personal assessment: always worth a visit.

Delicious food, large portions. “Udon Xau mit panierten Hänchen” is highly recommended. Too bad you could only pay in cash. At one point the whole place was blue with smoke. Other than that, a delicious meal, no complaints!

Simply perfect! The pho with beef balls was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful broth with tender beef balls that made every bite a delight. The balance of flavors was spot-on, making it one of the best pho experiences I've had. The service was exactly what I hoped for—attentive, friendly, and efficient. LUA Vietnamese Restaurant truly delivers on both taste and hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying Vietnamese meal!

The shop had been recommended to me several times in Essen, so I gave it a try. The food was very good, price performance was okay. What I didn't like was the ambience. Although it is beautifully and authentically decorated, it is very noisy as the small shop is quite full of tables. The service didn't convince me either. Very long waiting times and you were sometimes forgotten. There is no card payment here, so before paying I had to go to the savings bank around the corner to organize cash while my companion held the fort. Given the prices, in my opinion you can't assume that guests will have enough cash with them. You have to expect 20-30€ per person here.

Ordered M07, supposedly with lemongrass. The rice was cooked and dry (which is normal and a good thing), but with dry vegetables on the plate, without any sauce. No lemongrass in sight. Brought this to the waiter's attention, but he clearly didn't care.

In short, the food is incredibly delicious. In any case, you will be full. You should plan around €25 with a drink and a summer roll. The food could be a little spicier, especially the curry, otherwise I absolutely recommend it

The food was good and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, the good impression was spoiled when it came to paying. Only cash is accepted! The only indication of this is a small sign on the door. This was not mentioned on the website, on Goggle or in the reservation confirmation. Therefore there are only two stars. Because which guest likes to run to the ATM after eating to be able to pay his bill? This is no longer up to date.

Ordered spring rolls, summer rolls, mango salad and two soups. Everything was fresh and good.

I stopped in here late on a Sunday evening after work. The service was very friendly and I was seated straight away. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, in the end I chose coconut soup with shrimp and summer rolls with salmon. The coconut soup was tasty, but lacked a certain something to round it out. The portion was also larger than usual at Viernamesen. The summer rolls were also quite okay, but the salmon was fried a bit dry. However, the sauce was very good. Only cash payments are accepted here, which I didn't notice - either I missed the relevant signs/instructions or there are none. In the latter case it would be nice to add some. All in all a nice visit.

We came for lunch on a weekday without having reserved a table. When we arrived we had to wait quite a long time to ask the waitress if there were any seats left. Although there were 2-3 tables available inside that just hadn't been cleared yet, the waitress told us that all the tables were reserved, so we decided to sit outside. The waitress neither brought us the menu nor paid us any attention. We went in ourselves to get the menu and place the order. Then it started to rain and we asked if she could clear the tables inside for us so we could sit inside. Only then was she ready to clear the tables. While we were waiting for our food, many guests wanted to come in to eat, but the waitress kept telling them that there were no seats available, even though there were still many tables available. We finished eating at 2:30 p.m. and the restaurant closed at 3:00 p.m., but we didn't see a single guest who had a reservation and came to eat. A real shame for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and good food, but very poor service that shows no respect for the customers. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. Sorry!

Very authentic Vietnamese food! Very big portions

Pho vegan is good and the ingredients are fresh, only the broth could be a little spicier. Unfortunately, the wok dishes are far too greasy and sometimes inedible.

For me it is the best restaurant in Essen. If anyone knows how they do Cari Ga (personal recommendation no. 260) please let me know :D

Good Vietnamese food place. Recommended and better than the restaurants in the area, but you cannot pay by card and for those of us who come from outside it is a chore. Also if you order something close to closing time they may not serve it to you.

Duck in coconut sauce was great, but contrary to the description, not spicy. Reservation is worth it as it is very popular and a small restaurant. Dogs welcome. Friendly service. No card payment. The dishcloth to wipe the table could have smelled better.

We visited the LUA on a weekend evening with four adults. The food was fantastic and a great new experience for us. The ambience is appealing and stylish. The only and biggest point of criticism is the service: We would have liked to order drinks or a dessert, but unfortunately the service was too busy. A reservation is recommended. Cash only. We'll definitely come again.

Preface: only accepts cash payment Cozy place with phenomenal food. Starters, mains and desserts are all smash hits here. The only trouble is that I couldn't try every single thing on the menu. Strong recommendations are to get the shared starters platter and absolutely try the udon noodles as a main. They would be perfect in and of itself without any veggies or protein added. Parking nearby is perfectly valid as it's free after 20:00 during weekdays 10/10 but make sure you have cash ready as the nearby ATMs close at 22:00

The two of us spontaneously got a place on a Friday after consulting by phone. However, I would always advise booking in advance for popular dates. The service was extremely nice, even on the phone and took us straight to the table. We also received our tickets directly. The selection was really large and varied. There is something for everyone. Both the starters and main courses were beautifully prepared and presented. When it came to the main course, I initially thought it would be a little, but it was actually a lot. I didn't finish my portion. Everything tasted really good. The service was always attentive and very accommodating. Questions could be answered, which made the choice of food much easier. All in all, a clear recommendation. Small note: no card payment possible.

We spontaneously looked for an address for a “PHO” and came across the “LUA”. It was very busy and required a reservation. After asking kindly we were given a place :-) The PHO became “UDON noodles” for me, so my partner stayed with the PHO… and what can I say…. BOTH WAS TOP - Therefore a clear recommendation, especially if you can't / don't want to go to Düsseldorf, where there is already a very high selection and quality when it comes to ASIA food. So…thumbs up!

Today I discovered this amazing Vietnamese restaurant. Not far from the large shopping center at Limbecker Platz. The lunch menu offered a good selection of different dishes. I decided on a starter (regardless of the lunch menu) and the curry dish with breaded chicken. Everything tasted so good that I will definitely come back. The service was first class and the decor of the restaurant is very nice and thought out down to the last detail. Thank you for a great lunch with very good and authentic Vietnamese food.

I keep coming back here for the tofu curry and it is by far the best curry that I have ever had in my life. If i could eat nothing else for the rest of my life, I would. Important to note however: - You can ONLY pay in cash here - You might have difficulty to find parking in the street but the mall has paid parking and it's only a five minute walk - The restaurant has limited tables, so it's best to call ahead and make sure they have space for you, or reserve a table ahead of time

Kleines, feines Restaurant in der Essener City mit authentischen vietnamesischen Gerichten. Freundlicher Service, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und sehr leckere, frische Speisen.

Sehr schönes Restaurant. Das Essen war unglaublich lecker. Großes Kompliment an die Küche. Die Bedienung war leider etwas unaufmerksam. Wir mussten schließlich zum Tresen gehen, um bezahlen zu können, da uns niemand beachtet hat, trotz mehrfachen Handhebeln und ansprechen. Daher ein Stern Abzug. Kleiner Tipp: Wenn ihr hier hin wollt, solltet ihr aber auf jeden Fall vorher reservieren, da es immer sehr gut besucht ist (zumindest immer, wenn ich da war).

Echt een aanrader dit verborgen pareltje! Heerlijk smakend en authentiek Vietnames eten met goede portiegrootte.mEn daarbij heeft dit restaurant een knusse gezellige sfeer. Ben je in de buurt? Ga langs! Oh ja, men verteld je dat niet bij binnenkomst maar je kan hier uitsluitend cash betalen, neem dus geld mee anders heb je een probleem....

Schönes Lokal, Service ein bisschen langsam, aber freundlich. Die Vorspeisen kamen schnell, aber die Hauptgänge noch schneller und vor allem bevor die Vorspeise beendet werden konnte. Die Suppe und das Curry waren sehr lecker, aber es hätte wirklich alles etwas mehr Schärfe vertragen. Es wird schon sehr "deutsch" gewürzt leider. Die gebratenen Reisnudeln mit vielen leckeren Pilzen und etwas frischem Gemüse wurden leider im Öl ertränkt, dennoch lecker, aber ging einem am Ende leider etwas wider. Wir kamen zur Öffnung und es lagen noch einige Essenreste unter den Tischen von der Mittagszeit...

Eine gebratene Reis zu mitnehmen. Aber war ganz schlecht. Auf Speise Karte hat geschrieben, soll Garnelen darin sein. Aber keine!!! Und auch zu wenig Portion. Das kostet 13,90 Euro, aber für eine kleine Frau auch zu wenig!

Das Restaurant kann ich nur empfehlen. Wir haben schon mehrfach hier gegessen, es war immer lecker, man kann sehr gut fleischlos Essen und es werden Extrawünsche ohne Probleme berücksichtigt. Das Personal ist wirklich freundlich.

Das Essen war ok. Der Service war sehr gut und sehr freundlich.Der Stil des Laden gefiel mir.

Ich habe online bestellt zum Abholen. Als ich reinging sagte man mir ich soll bitte 5 min warten. Kein Problem, bin raus und hab 5 min gewartet. Wieder rein, ich soll bitte nochmal 5 min warten, meine Bestellung sei noch nicht fertig. Ich hatte gebratene Nudeln mit Gemüse und Hähnchenfleisch bestellt. Also nichts aufwändiges. Als ich dann das dritte mal reinging brachte er mir die Bestellung und ich wollte kein Trinkgeld zahlen, da kein Service. Er gab mir statt 2,10€ „nur“ 2€ zurück, als wäre es selbstverständlich mein Geld einzubehalten. Es geht mir hier ums Prinzip nicht um die 10ct. Zu Hause angekommen blicke ich auf eine kleine Portion in der angeblich Gemüse enthalten sein soll. Außer Möhren war nichts zu sehen. Dafür 12,90€ zu verlangen ist eine Unverschämtheit. Als ich noch gefragt habe, warum ich keine SMS oder Mail erhalten habe, wann ich es abholen kann sagte der Kellner mir, dass es aktuell nicht möglich sei, weil das Lokal zu stark besucht wäre. Es waren noch einige Tische frei… Komischer Laden!

Insgesamt eine tolle Erfahrung mit leckerem Essen und nettem Ambiente. Wenn man sich „für sich“ unterhalten möchte, sitzt man doch zu nah an anderen Gästen und führt das Gespräch gefühlt auch mit seinen Nachbarn - nichts Schlimmes, aber zu bedenken je nach Anlass. Service war nett, jedoch hatte man nach der ersten Bestellung nur selten eine Möglichkeit etwas nachzubestellen, da nicht nachgefragt wurde.

Wir hatten Glück und haben ohne Reservierung spontan einen Tisch bekommen. Aufgrund der Größe des Restaurants würde ich allerdings empfehlen -grade wenn man zu Stoßzeiten essen möchte- vorher zu reservieren.

Das Lua glänzt mit gleichbleibend gutem Essen, das Personal ist zurückhaltend asiatisch höflich und bemüht sich um flotte Bedienung. Mit der neuen Mittagskarte ist das Angebot nun etwas breiter geworden. Leider sind die Preise stark erhöht worden und über 10 Euro für relativ einfache Gerichte auf der Mittagskarte ist definitiv zu teuer, aber das Problem haben wohl nun alle Restaurants, daher knappe 5 Sterne.

Bestellungen zum Abholen jetzt schon mehrfach (auch bei 1+ Stunde Vorlauf) zum vereinbarten Zeitpunkt der Abholung nicht fertig. Dauert dann 20+ Minuten....

Das Essen war großartig, sehr lecker und wirklich reichlich. Der Service war nett und dann komme ich leider schon zum großen Manko. Es gibt nur einen Service, der zwischendurch dann in der Küche mithilft und Getränke macht, Bestellungen aufnimmt, Tische abräumt und so weiter. Das führt dazu, dass sehr lange Wartezeiten entstehen, was im Verlauf des Abends leider doch zum ein oder anderen "Ausbruch" unter den Gästen geführt hat. Nachdem wir dann ca. 30 Minuten auf die Rechnung gewartet haben, stellte sich raus, dass nur eine Barzahlung möglich ist. Fairerweise muss ich dazu sagen, dass das Schild am Eingang an der Glastür ist, diese allerdings bei unserem Erscheinen und den ganzen Abend über auf stand, so dass diese Information leicht untergehen kann. Meine Bitte wäre, stellt mehr Personal ein, ich weiß, woher nehmen und nicht stehlen, dann kann der Besuch zu einem grandiosen Erlebnis werden. Ganz wichtig, daß Essen hat definitiv 5 Sterne verdient, schade, dass der Rest meine Bewertung dann runterzieht.

Kann die guten Bewertungen nicht verstehen da uns die Möglichkeit nicht gegeben wurde dort zu Essen! Tisch für 20:30 Uhr reserviert. Das Restaurant war voll und kein Tisch mehr frei! Uns wurde dann zugesichert das wir in 10-15 Minuten einen Tisch bekommen! Also haben wir draußen gewartet! Der vierer Tisch wurde nach 16 Minuten frei. Diesen haben dann andere Gäste bekommen die seit 20 Uhr auf ein Tisch gewartet haben! Wir sollten uns dann nochmals gedulden! Nein Danke! Katastrophal organisiertes Restaurant. Nie wieder!!!!!

Zum Essen kann ich nichts sagen, weil bis dahin sind wir nicht gekommen. Tisch für vier Personen für 20.30 Uhr reserviert. Wir pünktlich dagewesen, auf Nachfrage sollten 10 bis 15 Minuten warten, kein Problem. Dann wurde ein Tisch nach 15 Minuten frei. Dieser war aber nicht unser Tisch. Vier weitere Gäste haben noch länger gewartet wie wir und habe natürlich den Tisch bekommen. Auf Nachfrage wann unsere Tisch frei würde würde uns gesagt wir sollten weitere 30 Minuten warten. So geht man nicht mit Gästen um, es kann immer mal zu Verzögerungen kommen aber zweimal grenzt schon Verarsc..... Die Geschäftsleitung sollte sich hier was überlegen wie solche Sachen zustande kommen und wie es verhindert werden kann. Auch wie man vor Ort reagiert kann besser machen. Ich werde nicht nochmal dort reservieren.

Wir haben das Restaurant auf Empfehlung hin ausprobiert. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Reservierung empfohlen da es kein großes Restaurant ist. Leider gab es von mehreren Biersorten an dem Abend nur eine, da es importiert werden muss! Auch das Malzbier gab es nicht wobei ich mich Frage warum, da es nicht importiert werden muss! Preis-Leistung ist in Ordnung!

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der Portionen ist angemessen, und die Getränke sind preiswert. Leider waren die Sate-Spieße kalt. Hähnchen und Tofu-Curry hätten mehr Würze vertragen können. Aber alles in allem empfehlenswert.
