Very friendly staff, very tasty food and great details

In an extraordinary and special atmosphere you can enjoy delicious, regional home cooking. Especially at (pre-)Christmas time, the bouquets are a spectacle thanks to the loving decoration.

Old butterfly, the prices are now also at their finest! Charging 25.70 for two schnitzels with potato salad (32.70 with a side salad of which 2/3 consists of a leaf salad of one variety) is really "respectable" (wasn't anything organic?!). I always thought 20 euros for a SchniPoSa here in Freiburg would be pretty decent. They have been coming for over 15 years but the carer's salary no longer supports that. And last but not least: I'm a big fan of old school black music, but when it comes to paying you could be in the 21st century (card versus cash, you know?!).

Not "Straussi" in the original sense. Quaint location, lots of mirrors everywhere and pre-Christmas decorations, which can also be bought. Food was ok, prices a bit high

Nice atmosphere and very friendly service. Unfortunately, the food has lost a lot of quality in recent years; it used to be very good. The portions are smaller and the price has increased significantly, which is often the case. But what disappoints most is the careless preparation. The food was hardly seasoned, the beef salad was tough and tasteless, and the fried potatoes were sometimes not cooked properly. There remains a feeling of mass processing. Dissatisfaction was also heard from the neighboring table. Unfortunately, this does not add any value and basically makes going to the restaurant unnecessary. The waitress was approached in a friendly manner and responded in an exemplary manner in a friendly and accommodating manner. All in all, unfortunately, the disappointment remained. And especially because we knew it much better.

Food and service is very good. The many mirrors are overwhelming. But it was a very good visit.

I'm already disappointed, prices have increased significantly, I could understand that but then reduce the portions quite a bit. I had a mix plate, 5 forks of sausage salad and lots of green lettuce leaves underneath to make it look like more. When I asked the waitress about the sparse sausage salad, the answer I got was: "There's more in the kitchen." We were happy to be guests for many years, but that is now over.

Decent food in good portion sizes at a reasonable price-performance ratio, friendly and attentive service and an original, relaxed atmosphere characterize this Straußi. We would be happy to stop by again on our next visit to Markgräflerland.

Very good cuisine with regional products in a fantastic ambience! Excellently looked after by the attentive service, we had a wonderful evening with very good in-house game and excellent Rotburgunder. I would be happy to recommend a visit to this regional specialty à la the Strauss Economy.

When I met the Lorenz Strauße 20 years ago, I was totally in love with this place. We don't have a restaurant like this in Northern Germany. I always particularly liked the Christmas decorations. I hope that I can be a guest there again this year.🔝

A very beautiful bouquet that is special because of its design. The food is delicious. I had the pumpkin seed pancake with spinach and feta and my friend had the steak with fried potatoes and we were both more than satisfied. The wine is also very tasty and we will definitely come back.

We sat for about 10 minutes and were asked at least 4 times by four different waitresses whether we had already chosen something. Even though we still had to wait for one person, and that was what we were told every time. It was a bit annoying. Otherwise it was well attended. Overall, the food has become very expensive. 😒

Leider kann man in der Lorenz Straußi NICHT MIT KARTE bezahlen. Wichtig zu wissen. Wer hatt schon immer genügend Bargeld dabei. Unverständlich. Wir leben doch in 2024.

We visited the restaurant twice in a short period of time, once with four people and once with two people. The quality of the food was excellent on both visits. The portions are generous and the ambience is attractive. It is always possible to find a table. For the salad with strips of beef, it would be desirable if there was a larger selection of salad types, as it mainly consisted of green lettuce. Overall, however, the experience was positive. The staff is attentive. ATTENTION, however, payment is only possible in cash!

Waren abends nach 18.00 Uhr zum Essen dort. Strausse ist bis 20.00 uhr meistens immer sehr voll. Zu Weihnachten ist eine Besuch ein Muss. Wahnsinnige Weihnachtsdeko, die mann auch alle dort vor Ort kaufen kann. Zu der Zeit verdient sie den Namen "Weihnachtsstrausse" zu recht. Essen gute badische Küche, Preise normal, ehr etwas gehobener gegenüber anderen Straussen. Portionen sind mehr als ausreichend, Kräutersteak sehr gut, Salate bisher alle vorzüglich. Pfannkuchen riesig, vielleicht etwas zu mastig (dick), durchaus sättigend. Brägele mit Dreierlei sehr gut.Wir gehen regelmässig mehrmals pro Jahr in die Strausse, da sie schon relativ früh im Frühjahr auf hat, zur Weihnachtszeit jedoch ein unbedingtes Muss, da geht kein Weg daran vorbei.

On April 13th I visited Lorenz Strausse with friends. My steak was served to perfection and excellent. My friends' asparagus dishes were also very tasty and perfectly priced. No matter what time of year, we always enjoy coming here. The ambience is nice and cozy, perfect for a relaxing evening. What we particularly like is the selection of good wines and the delicious food. The menu offers a good selection of dishes, none of which disappointed us. It's just always great! The staff is friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more pleasant. All in all, Lorenz Strauße is a clear recommendation for us if you are in the area and want to eat something good.

I've known Lorenzstraussi for a long time, the atmosphere is good and the food is good too. However, the Straussi has increased by around 40% in the last three years. A cream of asparagus soup now costs EUR 8.50, clearly too much for a Straussi. It's a shame, if the owner continues like this, he'll lose a lot of regular customers, as all the Straussi's in the area are significantly cheaper and haven't raised their prices so excessively.

Considering it's supposed to be an ostrich, it's pretty expensive. Although there was still a free table, four of us were squeezed at the table with other guests, with the reasoning that the free table could perhaps accommodate a larger group of 6 or 7 guests. But that wasn't even in sight yet. We decided to eat somewhere else instead.

Inimitable ambience. Very tasty food. Fast and extremely friendly service thanks to digital order acceptance. - But the fact that you can only pay in cash in these times is totally out of date. We were in the Spiegelstrausse again in 2024. This year too, the food was quite decent, although quite expensive for an ostrich. And the fact that it is still not possible to pay cashless means that you have to take a large supply of cash with you if you want/have to pay for several guests.

Wenn ich hier die vielen Negativbewertungen lese, kann ich mich nur anschließen!!! Mit Strauße hat das schon lange nichts mehr zu tun. Die Preise sind einfach frech.. Die Betreiber sollten sich mal bei der Konkurrenz umschauen. Z.B. die "Griestalstrauße" in Opfingen.... super Essen, "absolut vernünftige Preise" und sehr freundliche Bedienung. Die Lorenz-Straussi ist von der Straußenliste gestrichen!

Das Essen ist sehr teuer geworden aber was mich sehr stört, dass man nicht mit Karte bezahlen kann, da denke ich in welchem Jahrhundert leben die.

Actually a great restaurant, furnished with love...but in a restaurant dogs have no place on the bench or on the table! Cats should also not be petted in the (indoor) dining area at the neighboring table. Not only for hygienic reasons but also for example. Guest allergies. The food was good and very plentiful. The service was very friendly and attentive.

Wir waren letztes Jahr häufig zu Gast in diesem zauberhaften Ambiente, damit ist jetzt Schluss. 19% hin oder her, diese Preissteigerung steht in keiner Relation!!! Schade

... zu teuer. Ich habe mir die Speisekarte am Eingang angesehen: 15.80 € für einen Wurstsalat mit Brägele, 29.80 € für Hirschgulasch mit Beilagen in einer (Pseudo-) Strausse. Tut mir leid, das ist für mich nicht mehr akzeptabel. Da fällt es mir leicht, einmal auf den Besuch zu verzichten. Noch gibt es Alternativen.

I find it very difficult to write negative reviews. But in this case it is really necessary. The atmosphere was very quaint. Lots of wood, lots of mirrors. The menu also looked very good, so I decided on a quiche. And this is where the disappointment started. Instead of a quiche, I got a salad plate with vinegar dressing (sour!) and only an eighth of quiche - and the whole thing for 16€ - points deducted! After we had eaten and the glasses or carafes had been emptied for the first time, the boss himself came running by - there is no other way to put it - and cleared the table for us without asking if we wanted to order anything else. Unfortunately, this unfriendly behavior continued throughout the evening. As soon as a glass was empty, it was removed without replacement. Even when I suggested that we should ask if the guests wanted something more to drink, I was met with indifference. Apparently the guests here are just supposed to eat quickly, have a drink and then leave as quickly as possible - points deducted! The third point is deducted for the lack of card payment options. Who has cash with them these days? There's a certain flavor to it when you HAVE to pay in cash.

Wie sich manche Menschen hier im Bewertungsforum abfällig äußern macht mich nachdenklich. Noch nie hatte ich nach einem Essen in der Lorenz Straußi noch Hunger, die Portionen sind auch für "gute Esser" üppig. Der Beilagen Feldsalat hat die Größe einer Salatplatte wie man sie nur aus anderen Gastronomien kennt. Salatsaucen sind im übrigen Geschmackssache, ich z.B. mag den sauren Essiggeschmack ohne viel Zucker. Die servierten Fleischgerichte sind rundum fein. Wer allerdings eine Gänsebrust mit einer ranzigen Ente verwechselt sollte sich mal Fragen, ob nicht der Koch sondern der anonym schreibende Kritiker einen ganz schlechten Tag erwischt hat. Dafür braucht es aber Mut, anonym über andere abfällig zu schreiben ist des Pöpel´s Art. Hajo Fünfgeld

We had dinner there a week before Christmas with a couple who were friends of ours and felt very comfortable in a very nice pre-Christmas atmosphere. The Straußi's nickname as Spiegel Straußi is absolutely deserved and the decoration is worth seeing. It is strongly recommended to plan your visit with enough waiting time, as it is usually very busy and new guests are only admitted when tables become available (patience is good).

Maybe we had a bad day. Soups and salads were so over-seasoned that you couldn't eat them. Rump steak was very good. Dear restaurateurs, when something like this happens, don't offer the guest espresso as a replacement, what's the point? Check the complaints and take them off the bill. I paid over €40.00 for a rump steak with bread and water. I can't accept the espresso on the house.

So ein schöner Platz!! Man fühlt sich einfach wohl und willkommen!! Die Karte ist nicht zu groß, aber jeder sollte etwas finden! Service großartig!!!

Bezaubernd weihnachtlich geschmückt. Alles an Weihnachtskugeln, auch sehr ausgefallene, Schneekugeln und Sammlersets, z. B. SCHNEEWITTCHEN, oder Rotkäppchen kann man erwerben. Dadurch, daß überall Lichterketten und schätzungsweise 2000 Spiegel an den Wänden hängen. Selbst auf den Toiletten😂, entsteht ein wunderschönes Ambiente. Manchmal wird derKamin angefeuert, das ist heimelig. 😍 Das Essen ist sehr, sehr lecker. Wir waren am Sonntag dort, ab 15.30 Uhr geöffnet. Ich hatte Hirschroulade mit einer wundervollen Sosse, Walnussknödel und Rotkohl. Mein Mann Wildschweinbratwürste, Brägele mit Kürbisgemüse, auch schmackhaft. Meine Freundin Rumpsteak Medium mit selbstgemachter Kräuterbutter, reichlich und Brot. Hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt. 😋 Wir haben natürlich alles probiert. 😜 Getrunken hatten wir diverse Weine, alle die richtige Temperatur, Apfelpunsch mit Schuss, sowie Johannisbeerschorle. An einer grossen Tafel waren die außergewöhnlichen Speisen, die wir bestellten angeschrieben. Motto: Es hätte, so lags hätt. Sind die Speisen ausverkauft werden sie weggewischt. Es gab noch diverse Desserts, aber leider waren die Mägen geschlossen, wurden sehr satt. Das nächste Mal halt🤗 Ich bin im Rollstuhl und wir hatten gut Platz. Der Service ist einfach nur super❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Das ist nicht übertrieben, Sterne erlöschen, Herzen bleiben. Es geht schnell und Chefs, sowie die Bedienungen sind ausnehmen sehr freundlich und herzlich. Am 20.12.23 ist der letzte Öffnungstag. Viel Genuß beim Besuch der Lorenz-Straussi Eure Birgit🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲

Sauce schmeckte wie aus dem Päckle, Portion Kartoffelsalat für 6€!!! Viel zu wenig od zu teuer, kein Feldsalat auf dem Salatteller bzw in der Karte im Dezember? Schnitzel war ok. Preise sind knackig phuuuu.

Wunderbare Strauße in Ehrenkirchen. Top Essen. Die Mitarbeiter sind einfach übernatürlich gut. Meist sehr gut besucht. Kurze Wartezeit bis ein Tisch frei ist muss man in kauf nehmen. Das Ambiente ist einmalig. Besuchen und wohl fühlen.

Es war einmal ein Ort, den wir (vor Corona) beinahe wöchentlich besucht haben. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmte, Service war okay, tolles Ambiente. Und heute? Nichts mehr von allem. Gänsebrust, die sehr, sehr klein ist und eher an ranzige Ente erinnert. Eiskalter Rotwein vom Fass. Essen vor den Bestecken auf dem Tisch. Tageskarte am Eingang nicht aktuell. Kaminstimmung ohne Kaminfeuer…. Das war es dann wohl.

Alles passt perfekt hier, schmeckt gut, super interessantes Ambiente, unglaublich schnelle Service, auch bei voll Besetzung. Sehr familiär, gemütlich. Man muss aber etwas Zeit mitbringen bei Stoßzeiten! Das ist genau was man hier in Region braucht, lecker, regional und gemütlich. So ziemlich das Beste in Umgebung wo Preis Leistung perfekt ist. Jetzt weihnachtlich dekoriert . Eine absolute Empfehlung ist das Tiramisu.. Butternutkürbis.. .aber völlig anders als erwartet.. cremig und fruchtig.. so lecker

Wunderschöne Strauße, vor allem zur Weihnachtszeit ganz toll dekoriert und geschmückt. Die „Spiegelstrauße“, wirklich etwas ganz besonderes. Essen sehr lecker, Service schnell und freundlich. Keine Reservierung möglich - glücklich ist, wer sich einen Platz ergattern kann. Klare Empfehlung!
