The ambience and service are very positive. The equipment with the many mirrors and currently the Christmas decorations are unbeatable. The service, as usual, was always attentive and very friendly. I would like to complain about the food. I have enjoyed visiting this ostrich again and again over the last few years. Prices have now risen sharply. So far it's ok, it costs a lot more to buy. But at the same time the portions have become more manageable and the quality leaves a lot to be desired. I had schnitzel with sauce and fried potatoes. It tasted good, but I would have liked a little more meat between the breading. I got the impression that there was a lot of savings going on here. In my opinion, the current price-performance ratio for an ostrich farm is no longer correct.

We were there on the occasion of my birthday, full of anticipation and were bitterly disappointed. Although the decoration is still wonderful, the small menu offers hardly any options for vegetarians. And: We didn't have enough cash for 5 people. We live in 2024 and you wonder why a packed restaurant doesn't accept card payments. We had to pay for the full drinks with the kids and find another restaurant. Unfortunately no more recommendation!

Und: Für 5 Personen hatten wir nicht genug Bargeld dabei. Wir leben in 2024 und da fragt man sich schon, warum ein brechend volles Lokal keine Kartenzahlung akzeptiert. Mussten mit den Kids die vollen Getränke bezahlen und uns ein anderes Restaurant suchen. Leider keine Empfehlung mehr!

Excellent food in large portions at a reasonable price. The pancakes with spinach and feta filling are delicious. The ambience impresses with 100s of mirrors on walls and pillars, which make everything seem larger.

Very cozy location and friendly service. When it comes to plated meals, no wishes are taken into account in any way, not even changing a side dish is possible. It is completely incomprehensible to me that in 2024 card payments will not be possible in a restaurant in this price range. It's even on the menu...

Turkey schnitzel, well it wasn't bad, I ordered a portion but got 2 and with the wine just like that, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing

There were nine of us and unfortunately we all found the portions quite manageable as the prices were already above the ostrich level. Adjust the portions a bit and the price/performance ratio will be right again. Still very nice and comfortable. Be sure to reserve.

Always an experience! Finally a place where you can go out to eat spontaneously without making reservations weeks in advance... The decoration is unique - you have enough to look at if you ever run out of things to talk about. And then the food: always delicious!!!

Old butterfly, the prices are now also at their finest! Charging 25.70 for two schnitzels with potato salad (32.70 with a side salad of which 2/3 consists of a leaf salad of one variety) is really "respectable" (wasn't anything organic?!). I always thought 20 euros for a SchniPoSa here in Freiburg would be pretty decent. They have been coming for over 15 years but the carer's salary no longer supports that. And last but not least: I'm a big fan of old school black music, but when it comes to paying you could be in the 21st century (card versus cash, you know?!).

Nice atmosphere and very friendly service. Unfortunately, the food has lost a lot of quality in recent years; it used to be very good. The portions are smaller and the price has increased significantly, which is often the case. But what disappoints most is the careless preparation. The food was hardly seasoned, the beef salad was tough and tasteless, and the fried potatoes were sometimes not cooked properly. There remains a feeling of mass processing. Dissatisfaction was also heard from the neighboring table. Unfortunately, this does not add any value and basically makes going to the restaurant unnecessary. The waitress was approached in a friendly manner and responded in an exemplary manner in a friendly and accommodating manner. All in all, unfortunately, the disappointment remained. And especially because we knew it much better.

Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt schon lange nicht mehr, waren im Mai mit Familie zum Spargel essen. Wir waren alle nicht satt, haben dafür aber sehr viel Geld bezahlt. Ist mittlerweile so ein Kommerz und eine abzocke, dass wir uns dort nicht mehr wohl fühlen und auch nicht mehr auf eine Brotzeit vorbeikommen. Es gibt deutlich bessere Alternativen! Hat mit Strauße sowieso nichts mehr zu tun.

I'm already disappointed, prices have increased significantly, I could understand that but then reduce the portions quite a bit. I had a mix plate, 5 forks of sausage salad and lots of green lettuce leaves underneath to make it look like more. When I asked the waitress about the sparse sausage salad, the answer I got was: "There's more in the kitchen." We were happy to be guests for many years, but that is now over.

Wir waren schon oft hier und hatten uns auf den Abend sehr gefreut. Aber was wir gestern erlebt haben, war sehr bescheiden. Preise rauf, Qualität und Service sowie Freundlichkeit runter. Wir werden sicher nicht wiederkommen…(verwunderlich, dass es so voll war)

Waren heute dort Essen, satt sind wir nicht geworden: wir haben das Wiener Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat >25 Euro) und einen gemischten Salat (>11 Euro) gegessen. Dazu 2 Weißweinschorle getrunken. Die zwei kleine Schnitzelchen haben meinen Mann nicht gesättigt , der gemischte Salat war auch nicht üppig und wurde ohne Brot serviert. Für 45 Euro sollte man in einer Strauße satt werden. Kommen jetzt erstmal nicht mehr hierher.

Decent food in good portion sizes at a reasonable price-performance ratio, friendly and attentive service and an original, relaxed atmosphere characterize this Straußi. We would be happy to stop by again on our next visit to Markgräflerland.

Very good cuisine with regional products in a fantastic ambience! Excellently looked after by the attentive service, we had a wonderful evening with very good in-house game and excellent Rotburgunder. I would be happy to recommend a visit to this regional specialty à la the Strauss Economy.

When I met the Lorenz Strauße 20 years ago, I was totally in love with this place. We don't have a restaurant like this in Northern Germany. I always particularly liked the Christmas decorations. I hope that I can be a guest there again this year.🔝

A very beautiful bouquet that is special because of its design. The food is delicious. I had the pumpkin seed pancake with spinach and feta and my friend had the steak with fried potatoes and we were both more than satisfied. The wine is also very tasty and we will definitely come back.

No card payment possible in 2024. Where is there such a thing. This is even possible at the asparagus house.

We sat for about 10 minutes and were asked at least 4 times by four different waitresses whether we had already chosen something. Even though we still had to wait for one person, and that was what we were told every time. It was a bit annoying. Otherwise it was well attended. Overall, the food has become very expensive. 😒

We visited the restaurant twice in a short period of time, once with four people and once with two people. The quality of the food was excellent on both visits. The portions are generous and the ambience is attractive. It is always possible to find a table. For the salad with strips of beef, it would be desirable if there was a larger selection of salad types, as it mainly consisted of green lettuce. Overall, however, the experience was positive. The staff is attentive. ATTENTION, however, payment is only possible in cash!

Waren abends nach 18.00 Uhr zum Essen dort. Strausse ist bis 20.00 uhr meistens immer sehr voll. Zu Weihnachten ist eine Besuch ein Muss. Wahnsinnige Weihnachtsdeko, die mann auch alle dort vor Ort kaufen kann. Zu der Zeit verdient sie den Namen "Weihnachtsstrausse" zu recht. Essen gute badische Küche, Preise normal, ehr etwas gehobener gegenüber anderen Straussen. Portionen sind mehr als ausreichend, Kräutersteak sehr gut, Salate bisher alle vorzüglich. Pfannkuchen riesig, vielleicht etwas zu mastig (dick), durchaus sättigend. Brägele mit Dreierlei sehr gut.Wir gehen regelmässig mehrmals pro Jahr in die Strausse, da sie schon relativ früh im Frühjahr auf hat, zur Weihnachtszeit jedoch ein unbedingtes Muss, da geht kein Weg daran vorbei.

On April 13th I visited Lorenz Strausse with friends. My steak was served to perfection and excellent. My friends' asparagus dishes were also very tasty and perfectly priced. No matter what time of year, we always enjoy coming here. The ambience is nice and cozy, perfect for a relaxing evening. What we particularly like is the selection of good wines and the delicious food. The menu offers a good selection of dishes, none of which disappointed us. It's just always great! The staff is friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more pleasant. All in all, Lorenz Strauße is a clear recommendation for us if you are in the area and want to eat something good.

I've known Lorenzstraussi for a long time, the atmosphere is good and the food is good too. However, the Straussi has increased by around 40% in the last three years. A cream of asparagus soup now costs EUR 8.50, clearly too much for a Straussi. It's a shame, if the owner continues like this, he'll lose a lot of regular customers, as all the Straussi's in the area are significantly cheaper and haven't raised their prices so excessively.

Inimitable ambience. Very tasty food. Fast and extremely friendly service thanks to digital order acceptance. - But the fact that you can only pay in cash in these times is totally out of date. We were in the Spiegelstrausse again in 2024. This year too, the food was quite decent, although quite expensive for an ostrich. And the fact that it is still not possible to pay cashless means that you have to take a large supply of cash with you if you want/have to pay for several guests.

Die Betreiber sollten sich mal bei der Konkurrenz umschauen. Z.B. die "Griestalstrauße" in Opfingen.... super Essen, "absolut vernünftige Preise" und sehr freundliche Bedienung. Die Lorenz-Straussi ist von der Straußenliste gestrichen!

Actually a great restaurant, furnished with love...but in a restaurant dogs have no place on the bench or on the table! Cats should also not be petted in the (indoor) dining area at the neighboring table. Not only for hygienic reasons but also for example. Guest allergies. The food was good and very plentiful. The service was very friendly and attentive.

Wir waren letztes Jahr häufig zu Gast in diesem zauberhaften Ambiente, damit ist jetzt Schluss. 19% hin oder her, diese Preissteigerung steht in keiner Relation!!! Schade

... zu teuer. Ich habe mir die Speisekarte am Eingang angesehen: 15.80 € für einen Wurstsalat mit Brägele, 29.80 € für Hirschgulasch mit Beilagen in einer (Pseudo-) Strausse. Tut mir leid, das ist für mich nicht mehr akzeptabel. Da fällt es mir leicht, einmal auf den Besuch zu verzichten. Noch gibt es Alternativen.
